I’m not giving up on this place yet. The first time I went was for a 60th birthday dinner. Dinner was great! Ordered the Filet Mignon. It was cooked perfectly to my specifications. The others were please with their dinners as well. Wait staff was excellent. Our SUV was valeted which was nice because parking was tight. The whole atmosphere was really quite unique and I loved the feel of the restaurant. So far so good. A couple of months later I attend a lunch with friends for a Marist College graduation. Experience; not so good. In the day light the place needs to some attention to detail. Chipped paint and the entrance/stairs looking tired. The food was not so good this time around. Ordered the cheese burger med-rare; came out dry and well done. The waitress was new and when we asked for the check there were several items on the bill that we didn’t order. The table next to us was empty and had not been cleaned up the entire time we were there. I was disappointed(as was the others who I recommended this restaurant to). With that said, I’m going to give it one more try for dinner sometime this summer. It really is a beautiful restaurant/venue.

Staff was nice and professional. Meal was OK but both the halibut and the salmon were dry. The halibut was even swimming in a corn chowder and still somehow dry. Two stars were for the ice cream which were interesting and delicious.

We were here this time last year enjoying brunch at Henry’s. We were admittedly the first customers of the morning, so our experience was not only phenomenal but may be a bit one sided. Since we were the only couple, we had the opportunity to sit anywhere. It was a crisp summer morning, so we jumped at the opportunity to dine on the patio. Given that they source their food locally or grow it on-site, their menu rotates and I’m sure the selection now is different. From what I recall we went to town on the menu: salads, calamari, steak and eggs, huevos rancheros, mimosas, bloody mary’s, and a bevy of small plates to share. The take-away? Delicious, heavenly, romantic. Service was polite, helpful and friendly and the setting is lovely. Overall, it was a wonderful brunch. However, pricing can be off-putting to some as much of the menu leans on the higher side. If you are looking for a quaint and peaceful dining experience, definitely check out their brunch(if you can, go early!). And while you’re on the premises — take a stroll down to the river, relax nearby at the waterfalls, go pet the llamas, or find some peace at one of the many reclusive ponds.

Went to Henry’s today with another couple for lunch. Since it was restaurant week and wanted to give it a try without breaking the bank. This review will be very mixed. The grounds are nice, but the signage leaves a lot to be desired. The dining room is on the second floor… going past the opened kitchen door. Not very classy. The dining room was not overly busy. The restaurant week menu was limited but okay. Two of us ordered the salad and two the tomato bisque. They were goid, not outstanding. For our entrée two had the fried chicken with jalapeño corn bread and coleslaw. Again it was good but nothing great. My wife had the flatbread special… she liked it a lot. Another in our party had the pulled pork sandwich. For desset, the ladies had the strawberry and kiwi crisp, one had vanilla ice cream and I had the plum sorbet. Now to my issues: 1. The service was spotty at best. Our server was not overly friendly. 2. At no point did any of our courses come out together. 3. The tim between our app and entrée was ridiculously long. Four tables of people who came in after us got their food before us. I also noticed that they were ordering off the menu and not the special menu. 4. When dessert arrived one dessert arrived. the vanilla ice cream and two cookies. We didn’t know that the dessert came with it, but we broke them up and started to eat them. That is when the waitress came over and said that he had been given the wrong desset, but we could keep the cookies. .which by then we had already eaten most of them. And they wouldn’t charge us for them!!! 5. It took another 5 or 6 minutes for the rest of the desserts to arrive. 6. We noticed that several times waiters walked to several tables looking for the right table for the food. Like I said, the food was okay, but not worth returning to try again.(Ironically the Nutella cookies were the best thing we ate. even if by accident.)

Great food. Horrrrrrrrible service. Waitstaff made some pretty crappy/judgy comments to my spouse about us taking a night away vaca from kids. Staff is «European» to say the least — in its lax ways. Only redeeming grace is food…

After reading all of the mixed reviews, I went to this restaurant to celebrate a big birthday(one with a zero in it). It was so comically bad it was funny. For a restaurant that charges what it does per plate, I assumed the service would be seamless. It was anything but. The waitstaff were all in the 20s and at every course, my partner and I were given the wrong plates. By the 4th round we just told the server, before she set our plates down, to switch them as we knew she would give me his dish and vice versa. We ordered four appetizers in an effort to try as much on the menu as possible. The turkey wings were sticky and oozing with goo. Not only was it unappetizing(no pun intended) but the sauces all seemed as though they came from store bought jars — nothing seemed original. The tomato bisque was good. The calamari were flavorless and served with a side of tomato sauce that(again) seemed as though it came from a jar. The shrimp was swimming is sauce. It was so unsubtle. For the cost, it would best to go elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I used to frequent this restaurant about once a week… However, the atmosphere has gone considerably downhill secondary to whoever the hostile woman at the front desk is. She doubles as a hostess, bartender and maybe the manager? One thing I know is she makes you feel like your presence is bothering her. This is an expensive restaurant and there is no excuse for her aggressive behavior. I have read very similar reviews about this, something needs to be done… In addition to making you feel uncomfortable the food isn’t as good as it used to be either. They also need to specify where the plates are coming from since they are advertising themselves as «farm to table».

Very cute and cozy place! It’s tucked back on a side road and can be difficult to see the road to turn into, but once your in it is truly an adorable spa inn and restaurant. The grounds are lovely but the restaurant is really exceptional. Great service, willingness to alter menu choices for allergies and knowledgeable. The food has been good every time. The risotto is always a favorite and mussels are fantastic! Truly a great spot to slip away and have a enchanting dining experience.

They try much too hard here and in the process, they over complicate simple, gorgeous farm ingredients with sub-par preparations. Roasted Guinea Hen was under-cooked and drowned in an awful balsamic sauce and the Tomahawk steak was an enormous, visually grotesque pile of meat-potatoes-chard with no discernible plating aesthetic and again drowning in a mushroom sauce that was unbalanced acid/sugar sludge. Vegetables are consistently OVER-salted and seafood overcooked. The potential for delicious food is here… and maybe it’s because it’s off season but the meals we ate here were disappointing and too expensive for what it is.

We made a reservation for six, not realizing that the stairs up to the dining room would be difficult for my mother. The manager, Sarah, and our waiter Dylan, were kind enough to accommodate us in another dining area across the way that was handicap accessible. The food was exceptional– creative and flavorful, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

The setting — at the Buttermilk Farms Inn — is magical, so a lovely stroll down to the river, the waterfalls, the llamas, or the many ponds is well worth it. Henry’s is, unfortunately, a let down. A nice country barn like space loses stars for less than friendly and often slow service as well as food that is unpolished for its price. Four of us spent three days and two nights at the Inn and thus had two dinners and one lunch at Henry’s. Portions are massive and some entrees were decent, the pappardelle with lamb, for example. The pork chop trio was larger than life and the chevre mashed potatoes and three sauce treatments — including chimichurri as well as a cherry sauce — upped our anticipation. The chops were undercooked, the sauces underwhelmed, and the mashed potatoes were thick and gluey. Ugh. The BBQ brisket sandwich was good, as were the beet salad and the potato latke. Desserts were meh, predictable and average. A setting this lovely — and this close to the Culinary Institute of America — deserves a higher quality restaurant. For now, Henry’s is a miss.

The food is excellent and the service is friendly, but very slow. Luckily, we only planned on wine tasting at a nearby winery afterwards and we were not in a rush. I highly recommend this place if you do not have any plans and are very patient. It will be worth the wait.

I am not extremely difficult to please, nor will I accept a pile of shit on parchment. I have a simple scale for grading an eating establishment. It’s about the food. The quality of the ingredients, the time taken to prepare and present those ingredients and the attention to detail, that shows on your plate and is experienced from the first bite to the last. I can say with certainty, that this was a quality dining experience indeed, from the first to the last. Our waiter was kind, down to earth and very attentive. Our drinks were phenomenal. I enjoyed everything, even things I would normally not eat because my introduction to these items was a bad experience, because they were not fresh, not quality and poorly prepared. Mussels? Never touch ‘em. Here, they were sweet, briny, garlicky and melt in your mouth. The calamari, light, sweet, creamy texture, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. The bread, fresh made there. Flatbread pizza: insane. I ate mushrooms! I never do, but the mushroom ravioli was the most perfectly complimented, complex and rich umami Flavor I have ever encountered. There were big beautiful pieces of Lobster in the Risotto. My NY Strip was impeccable. A bit too much salt on my fingerlings but that was easy to overlook. The dessert: dark chocolate rum ice cream and the creamiest most decadent crème brûlée I have ever had. Farm to table fresh organic produce on my plate from the garden out the door. Quality ingredients, preparation, and presentation. Check, check, and check. They say, we get what we pay for, more often we pay more and get less. The entrees were a bit more than I’m used to, but trust me, it’s worth it. Highly Recommended.

I liked the pleasant yet laid back attitude of this location. The staff were friendly and accommodating overall. The appetizers and the salads ordered today were very good. The portions were generous and the flavors were globally excellent. The entrees, on the other hand, were disappointments. The burger was too lean/too dry, the lamb chops were just covered in their trio of bland sauces mounted on what appeared to be 3 pounds of roughly mashed potatoes. If they served 1⁄3 the portion with greater attention to flavor, presentation and originality with the entrees, I would have been happier. I should have skipped the entrees fully. The desserts were standard. Not disappointing but not memorable in originality, flavor or presentation. Their service was very good to excellent overall. But they do need to improve on some aspect of customer service. We had asked them to make an effort to make this extra special at reservation as this was a special occasion. No efforts placed. No special seat selection. No comments to congratulate us. No extra twig of anything. They literally ignored our input. I wasn’t expecting anything major but a simple word or any gesture of attempt would make a tremendous difference. Basic hospitality 101.

Randomly found this on a drive to PA based on reviews. What a find! Situated on Buttermilk Inn & Spa, the grounds are beautiful and you can see the farm, view the spa and walk down to the river. A farm to table spot, some items grown onsite and the rest locally procured. Everything is very fresh and flavorful and has options to please vegans, gluten free and burgers, steaks, etc for all. Excellent cocktail menu with very strong beer & wine selections. As we got there shortly after 6, we got a seat on the outside deck with a view of the pond & grounds. We each had a cocktail and they were top notch. We had the Burrata and Spring Pea soup to start. Both were presented by pouring the soup over the ingredients. The pea soup over pork dumpling, crisped prosciutto and micro greens was phenomenal. Excellent balance of savory & sweet. The Burrata had a fresh tomato soup with frisée, and calamari olives — good but a bit too complex and almost was like a chilled Manhattan chowder. The Burrata was a huge portion and while usually runny was a bit too chilled/firm for this dish and somewhat wasted. Entrees of lamb trio(3 lamb chops-Dijon, Cabernet and chimichurri glazed were huge and flavorful and the Pork w/tostones and apple salsa were both excellent ! As we were enroute to PA we did not stay for dessert but they make theirs on premise and I’m sure would be excellent. Only challenge was they got a bit crushed by a large crowd and the staff(including front of house) was working very hard to keep up by delivering drinks, entrees, etc. for the prices the food quality, cocktails, etc are well worth it but you don’t want to feel like the staff is overworked/harried as much in such a nice location.

I came here today for first time, expecting wonderful. left pretty disappointed — mostly with the service. i was here at 1 pm; there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, just two other tables. our waitress was nice, but pretty clueless; not attentive to our needs, i kept having to ask her to come over. after ordering our food, it took over 20 minutes for our appetizers to arrive. asked her what the desserts were, she didn’t know… when i ordered dessert and coffee, she brought me a cup of coffee that was less than ½ full. now, the food — overall, pretty good. i had steak sandwich which was excellent. my partner had fried chicken which was also excellent. french fries were outstanding. mussels excellent. chocolate ice cream was delicious, made there. carrot cake was ok. so, on food i give them an” A– «; on service i give them a «D». i will try this place again, but if service does not improve, i will not go back.

Kat said it right: it’s overpriced, over-plated(think southern portions), and for a restaurant with its own garden you’d expect much better. If you’re going here because you’re staying at the inn(which is wonderful), then sure, take the night off from the car. If you’re looking for quality food in the Hudson Valley, take a quick trip to Rhinebeck or Red Hook and you’ll fair much better. Brad was also correct — there was some lamb dish with good intentions(mint glaze type thing) but just really flawed execution. To be totally fair, we did have one really good dish — a sea bass in miso broth with clams. The chef nailed it with that one. But just about everything else was just OK and for the price, I’ll pass.

The food at this overpriced place could not be more disappointing. I ordered the grouper and it was just a giant mush reminiscent of gefilte fish, thankfully not as sweet. It came with an oversalted broth that the tiny, dried up pieces of «purple cauliflower» soaked in. The only edible thing on my plate were the fingerling potatoes that didn’t get a chance to absorb the salt while swimming in the broth. All this for over $ 30. The salad I ordered prior to that, was a giant wad of kale with 2 tiny slices of grapefruit, several near stale walnut pieces and a handful of pomegranate seeds with a decent lemon dressing. I also dislike that their menu doesn’t describe their food — such as — «pan seared salmon» that ended up drowning in some sort of sweet Thai chili sauce that wasn’t described on the menu and«forbidden rice» that was mushy and swimming in sugary coconut milk. Just no! Please cook better if you want to charge that much.

Great atmosphere and service however the food was very mediocre. The pork pot stickers were just awful. The«award winning» chicken was way too large and crust overcooked. It may have been precooked, did not appear that is was cooked to order. The sides were bland, coleslaw not even crunchy and you could make a better mac+cheese from a box of Annie’s.
