Kitchen open late. Good margaritas and a selection of beers on tap. Decent mozzarella sticks, crab cakes, endive salad. Buffalo wings a little dry, but tasty. Seems like a family business, great camaraderie among the crew and excellent cheerful service. I don’t get to Poughkeepsie often, but I’ll eat here again if the opportunity arises!

My family went to this place after Marist College graduation. I wasn’t expecting much but I was very surprised to find out that the food is very good and service is very good as well. I had the half rack baby back ribs and it was juicy and fall off the bone type of ribs. Overall I really enjoyed the Ambiance, the service and the food so I highly recommend this place.

I have eaten many of the dishes in this place and liked them them all, BUT this is the home of the skirt steak and brie sandwich. An amazing creation of skirt stake, brie, battered onions and garlic mayo. It’s the most amazing heart attack between two pieces of fresh ciabatta. Have moved to another state but this is my first stop when visiting Poughkeepsie. No joke, I have eaten that sandwich at least 60 times in the past few years. That number is not in the triple digits only because of moving states. BESTSANDWICHINTHEWORLD. But also nice restaurants and the other dishes are good. Great fries and pasta dishes.

Loved it! Mandy behind the bar is excellent. Heaven pours. The food is outstanding! I had the Coyote Nachos and Fried Mozzarella. Mmm I could go back for more right now. The portions are more than generous. I’m a big guy and can hold my own and even with the help of friends I could only eat a quarter of the nachos there were so many! Prices are great too. Especially at happy hour. Half off apps and $ 4 margaritas for example. Definitely check it out!

Uneven. This is the place to go if you like taking risks. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes the service is good and sometimes they get it all right at the same time. But beware, often nothing is good. I’ve been here many times in the last several years. I’d say the early years of this restaurant were its best. Last night we ordered two simple entrees — salad with salmon on top and a wedge salad. My husband enjoyed the salmon topped salad — nothing extraordinary, but the salmon was good and the salad greens were fresh. My wedge salad was awful. How can a wedge salad be awful? The cut of the wedge was almost entirely the hard core, virtually no blue cheese crumbles(more like blue cheese dust) and no bacon! Our waitress was virtually non-existent– if fact, a different waiter saw that we were waiting so long to place our order, that he came over to take our order. She never came over to ask how our food was — I had to stand up and flag her down to ask for a manager. Guess what, the manager never came to our table. When I went to the front and asked for him again, he apologized, but said he was very busy. He comped our meals, but was defensive and aggressive. The margarita was good. The busboys work hard and like the one waiter who helped us(wish I had his name) some of the staff work hard to make a pleasant dining experience. We won’t be back.

Was pretty good, and much better than the everyday diner down the street. They try to make everything sound fancy on the menu even though it’s a diner serving basic comfort food. Service was good, it was clean and the food was good too. I would come back next time I’m in town overall it’s a cool place.

One of my favorite Poughkeepsie restaurants. The nachos are amazing– the salads are perfect — the sandwiches are great — burgers are classily cooked really well. Come here relatively often and have tried most items and it’s always a great meal, snack, appetizers, desserts and everything in general!

Every night, middle of the road American food. Usually busy, trendy place with lots of young people. Waiters are on the mark, quick and fiery. Dishes are medium, but heaped. Nachos, chicken, rice and meat filets, pastas are the norm. It’s loud and happy hour makes you wait for drinks. Convenient location, make reservations. Food and taste are average. Coyote has consistency.

We’ve been to this restaurant two times in the last few months(we stop in when going to a nearby used bookstore). Food was very good and reasonably priced. Plus they have gluten free options for my son and he was thrilled that he could eat their french fries as they have a dedicated fryer that doesn’t mix with breaded items. And I’m a vegetarian and was also pleased with the selection(and some menu items can obviously be ordered without the chicken or meat). Looking forward to going back.

We came here for dinner and had the shrimp fajitas and the chicken florentine. The portions were huge! Both dishes tasted nice. The food arrived hot. The prices are about the same as a chain restaurant but the food is much nicer than a chain restaurant. Our server was very friendly and kept our glasses full. The bread had no taste and was cut thick. The dough was dense. I wish they cut the bread thinner. The area is full of chain restaurants so this is a nicer option for the same price.

Food seemed fresh. We ordered as a appetizer fried calamari and my son got the mac and cheese and a side of fries. We got the chicken madeira and it was delicious. The place looks clean. Waitress seemed like didn’t want to served us, brought drinks late didn’t show often to ask how we where doing and they weren’t busy per say, the bus boy seemed more courteous than the actual Waitress, but food was good.

Good food… very big portions. Waitress and hostess were both very personable. I had a green chili burger which was very tasty. My hurricane drink with rum and grenadine was watered down though

We went to this famous restaurant for the first time last week. We always pass by it on route 9 but never had the chance to get in. Last week we decided to make a trip to this restaurant. The restaurant and bar looks almost like a ghost town. There are more waiters and waitresses than customers. We actually went there during regular dinner time(around 6pm). I’m kinda surprised this restaurant can still survive on such low volume. After seeing the menu I know why, all the foods are very over priced. I mean, I’m not poor. We go out to eat at least 3 days per week, each time we spend like $ 60 for a meal. But look at the menu the same kind of stuff cost at least 30% more than TGIFRIDAYS which is right across the street. We ordered more than $ 100 of stuff, the food arrived in reasonable amount of time. Portion is quite large, which makes me feel guilty. I guess the business model is, since there are fewer customer due to the high price, it’s best to make a big portion so that you can rack up the profit on each customer without making them feel ripped off. Tastewise, it’s not quite even as good as Friday’s. I still prefer the steaks at Friday’s. It’s not bad, but a little more salt and seasoning should help. I guess the restaurant let the customers to add more salt if they wish, but I looked over the table didn’t see a salt&pepper bottle, neither a steak sauce like A1. The waiter is nowhere to be found(although I saw a group of them chatting, loitering and wasting their time). The seafood dish we ordered look like a big feast but after eating the thin top layer, we found the bottom is all filled with veggies. I guess that’s because veggies cost less than seafood. So it turned out to be a salad in disguise. Anyway, we finished the meal and left a good tip. After spending $ 120+ I still feel not as satisfied as a similar meal for $ 70 at fridays. No wonder friday’s always always packed with people and this restaurant has very few customers. To sum it up: if you want to spend more money, eat bigger portions, and eat a lot of veggies, and don’t mind the taste is bland, then this restaurant is for you. The only plus side I can think of is this restaurant is not crowded. I kinda hate Friday’s for the fact that so many people packed in that small room and you can barely hear each other due to the noise. Oh, almost forgot, I had a bad food poisoning that night. Felt aweful. It must be the steak which to my big mistake, I ordered«rare». I always order«rare» steaks at other restaurants and never had a problem. Maybe for this kind of low volume restaurant the food turn over rate is not as high so I’d better order«well done» steaks if I ever go back(which I seriously doubt). I hate well done or even medium rare steaks! I like steaks to be rare, but I don’t like food poisoning.

The quality here has suffered a steady decline. Last time I went for lunch the steak sandwich was tough and fatty. The server was hard to track down(it wasn’t busy). The fries were oversalted and overcooked. The quesadillas were bland and the chicken was undercooked. I used to enjoy this place but as I said the quality has steadily declined.

Have been here many times over the years — always for brunch or lunch, though. And it’s consistent — good food, especially given one’s expectations that it kind of looks and feels like«theme» chain restaurant. Fresh, tasty, and good value. You could do an awful lot worse while doing the Route 9 shuffle, that’s for sure.

I’ve eaten here a few times on our Girls Night Out. It’s central and easy to get to with plenty of parking. They seemed to have an extensive alcohol selection including quite a few craft beer, perhaps for Oktoberfest? There’s mostly something for everyone on the menu. I had the San Francisco Pasta which is described as «pippete pasta tossed with garlic, extra virgin olive oil, mushrooms, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli, and peppers, finished with pine nuts and topped with a light sprinkle of parmesan cheese». I don’t think all the ingredients were in the dish I received. There was no broccoli and the dish was completely overwhelmed by green peppers. The pine nuts were at the bottom :( Kudos to our server who was unfazed by separate bills and with the small child at our table who kept dropping his silverware requiring more, more, more. Would I make a special trip here with out-of-town guests or for a special occasion — No. But if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a place to satisfy most palettes you could do worse.

I have been here many times but this is my first Unilocal about it. It’s a good casual mix of bar food and entrees. I would classify it with Applebee’s and chilis but better. The one gripe I have is the menu is too big(probably just because it makes me indecisive) I have tried most of the items but I’ll stick with tonight’s. The crock of onion soup for 5.95 could have been my meal. Portions are made for the Flinstones! That’s not a bad thing. Bring a friend and share. The rigatoni is great however it’s not a true bolognese, it’s ground beef, that being said this isn’t an upscale Italian joint so if you want the pork, veal, and beef go there. Either way it was great as usual!

I believe this restaurant is a three star and here’s why. The atmosphere is nice, quiet and comfortable. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive to our needs. We ordered a Media Noche sandwich with Cajun fries, a hamburger with regular fries and Chicken Madeira. We wanted a salad so we ordered one on the side as it did not come with any our meals. The Media Noche, which was a Cuban sandwich, was very good but the Cajun fries tasted like the frozen ones from the grocery store. The hamburger was decent sized, cooked as ordered with a few topping additions we ordered that were appealing. It was a basic hamburger which was what we wanted. The regular fries were almost shoestring size and we enjoyed them. The Chicken Madeira was basically chicken Marsala which was tasty. It came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The asparagus was very good and I believe cooked perfectly however the mashed potatoes were dry and crumbly and had black spots in them that should have been cut out of the potatoes before cooking. Very disappointing and it made me scrutinize my whole meal looking for anything else they may have overlooked. The dish came with mozzarella over the top of the chicken and asparagus which was a nice touch and a little different than the typical dish. It was an ok dish that I feel was overpriced at $ 17.95 because it did not come with a salad. The salad was a big«side» salad a we were able to split it which I was happy to do since none of our meals came with one. The presentation on the salad was very appealing so I’m glad we ordered it. It was disappointing that many servers walked by our table and neglected to carry away our empty glasses and dishes, leaving them to fill up our table. I thought that would be something a server did to help his or her fellow worker. Don’t they do that in most restaurants? All in all, we weren’t totally disappointed in our experience, however, I will probably choose one of the many other establishments in a Poughkeepsie for my dinner out next time.

The Coyote has something for everyone!(Don’t worry, no coyote on the menu) As my fellow Unilocalers have noted, their menu is all over the place. Perhaps the«Sybil Grill» would be a more appropriate name. That being said, I never had a bad dish here. This is the place we end up when you WANT a place that has everything. Our typical group discussion: «Thai? No had it yesterday. Diner? Too noisy. Mexican? Ugh, my gut can’t handle that tonight. OK, see you at Coyote Grill in 20 minutes». Good service, dark, comfortable, nicely decorated, sort of a loungey atmosphere. So when you can’t decide on a food genre, head to Coyote and everyone will be happy.
