I’m 38 years old and have been eating at Jack’s since a child. It was always a favorite of mine and my family’s. I wanted to take a friend there so that she could experience what I imagined would be a great bbq meal. We were very disappointed. Super fatty pork and super dry brisket. I drove 30 minutes out of our way to get there and was«greeted» by a not so inviting female staff person. I really hope this was an off day.

The sauce is boss. We always order the pulled pork, ribs and a side of baked beans. It’s definitely an addition. I’m pretty surprised that the stars aren’t higher but maybe it’s due to other food items(?) or the atmosphere. If there was Mac and cheese(maybe with meat fat liquid like Flemings does?) that would just hit it out of the park. I wish I could eat jacks everyday. This coming from a Nole. ;)

I was in the area for a weekend at Lake Louisa State Park. Jack’s is not as good as Uncle Kenny’s BBQ down the street(went there in March), sorry to say. The parking lot at Jack’s was packed so we figured it must be good. However, the food didn’t wow me. I ordered a mixed sandwich of pork and beef and 2 sides(mac salad and beans). The mac salad could have been home made. The bun for the sandwich was not fresh at all. Personally when I think of BBQ, I expect home made, fresh food. The dining area was too busy with memorabilia on the walls and ceiling. Very uncomfortable seats. I won’t be back.

Finally! A great BBQ place find in Central Florida! Reminds me of the barbecue houses back home in Alabama and Georgia. Great mustard based sauces, delicious pulled pork and those beans, oh man! It’s not much to look at, although I do appreciate the hometown décor, but I could keep my eyes closed the whole time and just survive on tastes and smells. I can’t wait to go back and try more things.

Awesome food, awesome atmosphere. You can’t go wrong with anything you choose on the menu! It’s a great small town find!

I heard about this place from several people. I have it a try and was pretty disappointed overall. The meat was rather dry and lacked a good flavor. We ordered the ribs and they were kind of tough. They reminded me is Somny’s ribs. Overall it’s a run of the milk BBQ place. I imagine a lot of the appeal comes from Gator fans visiting the place due to the décor inside.

This is the real stuff. They actually have a BBQ pit. This is a must go place. I had the pull pork sandwich with a side of beans and it was awesome. The staff was friendly and helpful in my selection. I will be back.

I will admit that I am no BBQ expert, but do not waste your time & money: Rib Dinner: Dry, no smoke flavor. Dry rub does not have any flavor either. Chicken Dinner: over cooked and no smoke flavor. The potato salad was tasteless and probably 2 or 3 days old The baked beans were OK, but nothing exciting $ 31.78 we spent were really wasted. Will never set foot in this place again and I strongly suggest who is intentioned to do so and to have an enjoyable dinner to go elsewhere!
