By far my favorite restaurant in town! We’ve honestly haven’t had anything that was ‘meh’ or disappointing. Both dinner and lunch menus are fabulous! My absolute favorite is the fried calamari Fritti(Honestly, this converted me to calamari! and the sauce… to die for!) and the Fiocchi(Pear and asiago pasta purses, gorgonzola cream sauce OMG!). The Fiocchi is only on the lunch menu though… But, If you go during lunch, the owner is working the floor and does a great job making you feel welcomed. Also, the place is incredibly child accommodating. We’ve taken our kids, 18 mth and 3yr and they were very nice and made sure they had what they needed and interacted with them etc. Of course, the 2 times we have taken our kids, they were well behaved and surprisingly, not going crazy.

I LOVE Maurizio’s for many reasons. The first is their food — always so delicious, prepared with fresh local ingredients. We eat in, we take out — all is good. But — you can’t beat the ambiance of Maurizio’s. It’s small and cozy, but that’s what I love about it. Eddy is fantastic and always accommodating, even when they’re super busy. I wish… They didn’t close lunch at 2. I wish they were open on Saturdays for lunch. The dishes I love the best: Fiocchi — pear and asiago cheese little budlets of yummy pasta with Gorgonzola cream sauce, Parmesan polenta with sautéed mushrooms and a mista salad is the perfect meal.

Last year we happened to be driving back from King City and decided to stop at Maurizio’s as it had been recommended by someone to me. It was a hopping Saturday night and we were worried we would not be able to get a table. Luckily we did. The service was fantastic and the food was probably the best Italian food I have ever had in a restaurant and we are Italian. I highly recommend a reservation or get there when they open because you don’t want to miss a chance to eat at Maurizio’s. My friend was visiting this spring and my plan was to swing through Morgani Hill on the way home and unfortunately it was a Sunday and they were closed. We tried another Italian restaurant in town and they didn’t even come close. I would recommend anything on the menu and look forward to my next visit.

The calamari was very good. The bread with the spreadable garlic cloves was delicious. The entrées left some room to be desired. I think if you would like some real authentic Italian food then the Best place to go would be Sicilia in Boca. The food at Sicilia in Boca is much more fresh.

Went for lunch. Great service, great food, great experience. We had appetizer, pasta, and dessert. All were great and owner willing to modify and make anything we wanted… hard to find genuine good service. We will be back!

We on our way back to the bay area from a weekend in Carmel. My brother had been here before and mentioned that the food was very good and would be a great place to stop for lunch along the way. This place is a cozy little Italian restaurant in the middle of town… kinda quiet area part of town. From the looks of the inside, it looks like one of those long time established pride of the city type eating spots. The walls were covered with old photos of various past and present celebrities or sports figures who had eaten here before. Unfortunately, the phone/internet lines were down due to some road construction going outside so the service was slowed somewhat as all the checks had to be written by hand. The servers did a great job keeping up under the circumstances. The place wasn’t packed, but still pretty busy and we were immediately shown to our table for six. We were really hungry and asked the server who showed us to the table whether we could get some bread first, but he told us that they will only serve us bread AFTER we have ordered and only AFTER the menus have been taken away… huh…really? I guess they’re afraid we’ll fill up on bread and not order anything from the menu or something… oh well. Anyway, another very nice server ended up attending to us and took our orders. My brother knew what he wanted and had requested for some items which were not on the lunch menu and normally only on the dinner menu… not a problem! For appetizers we went ahead and ordered Calamari Fritti, Burrata con Prosciutto(fresh burrata cheese, thinly sliced prosciutto, sun dried tomato pesto, and crostini), the Polenta al Gorgonzola(Parmesan polenta and sauteed mushrooms in a gorgonzola cream sauce). For mains, we ordered the Linguini Vongole(off menu request), Fiochi(pear and asiago pasta purses in a gorgonzola cream sauce), Pollo al Marsala(my order), Fettucine con Pollo, the Rotelle di Parma(fresh rolled pasta, prosciutto cotto, parmesan, mozzarella, basil in a tomato cream sauce), the special of the day… Penne with salmon in a cream sauce, and the Lentil soup of the day. All I will say is that everything was very good… yummy good! I got to try a bit of most of the other dishes and was most impressed. As for my chicken marsala… it was very good, but very different from the typical chicken marsala I’m used to… the sauce was heavier and more substantial in flavor than any I’ve ever had before. I suspect that this is perhaps the chef’s own version… a pleasant surprise. For dessert we tried both the Tiramisu and Bread Pudding with vanilla sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The tiramisu I’m told was very good, but I didn’t try it as it looked like it had too much cream on it for my liking. I really enjoyed the bread pudding though. We all enjoyed the food here very much… perhaps one of the best Italian restaurants around… would definitely like to come back here again.

I know this is not all authentic italian food. I’ve made and had pasta putanesca in many places, Sicily, Italy, even Idaho, lol. Never has it been made with so much pepper flakes and unrinsed capers. I had to send it back. They must’ve rinsed off the sauce and sent it back with out the pepper flakes, but still put in same brined capers, yucko. I’m Sicilian so I know my pasta and sugo. The place is also too dang LOUD !

Service, quality and atmosphere Mauurizio’s took me back to Itlay. The chef, friendly, passionate and creative. It like eating in the Parma region of Italy. But the food, I savored every bite of my beef short rib lasagna. A great twisted on a standard dish. The meal was a experience, and I’ll be back.

My wife and I dined at Maurizio’s with friend last night. We had a good experience. Good food, good service, and good value. We started with 3 appetizers… fried calamari, carpaccio, and bruschetta. All 3 were okay, but not worth having again. The calamari was fried probably a minute to long and was chewy. The carpaccio was garlicky and seasoned properly, there was just nothing too exciting about it. The bruschetta was solid. Next time I would try their soups and salads for a starter. Our entrees were the standouts. Our wives both had mushroom filled ravioli with a brown butter and sage sauce. They both cleaned their plates and I had to bribe my wife with a bite of my steak for one of her ravioli’s. I tasted why they cleaned their plates. The guys had the ribeye steak. The cut was thinner than I prefer, however the steak had great flavor. My steak was cooked perfectly; my buddy’s was more medium than the medium rare that he ordered. The fried potatoes with rosemary and the mixed vegetables that accompanied our dishes were done pretty well… meaning, I ate them. Sometimes the sides that accompany a steak are an after thought. These were done fairly well. We shared a tiramisu and bread pudding for dessert. Both were pretty good, but the tiramisu was the standout. Maria was our server. She was very pleasant… and was there when we needed her. We had to fill our wine glasses and had to ask for water refills, but overall this was a neighborhood restaurant with good service. I don’t want to appear like an a____e because the service could have been more attentive. Again, this is a small neighborhood restaurant where everyone works hard. I appreciated the evening as a whole. Final thoughts, skip the appetizers and try the soups/salads for a starter. Save room for a piece of tiramisu!

This is a TRUE Italian restaurant. The waiters are really nice, and they are good at recommending plates. The Italian wine list is very good, and the ambiance is perfect! It does get busy during the week days. Make reservations. Daniel, one of he waiters has been there for 18 years! He is great!

We dined here last Friday I called to make a reservation a few hours in advance like Unilocalers recommended and they had me set to go . We actually ended up getting there 30 minutes early and they still seated us immediately and really catered to us. I was very pleased with the bread and wine list . My husband had the creamy potato soup and a beef tenderloin salad for an appetizer Super delicious !!! The soup was home made and full of flavor . The sale was delicate, fresh and lightly flavored . For our entrees my husband ordered the salmon dinner plate and I ordered the hand rolled ground beef pasta dish — sorry I don’t know the exact name It was delicious !!! 10 out of 10 Lightly sauced and intense flavor inside of the hand made rolled noodles I could’ve eaten two servings of this My husband doesn’t really care for pasta and he kept picking at my plate He lived both dinners The service was not the fastest but hey, it was a Friday night. Busy and we showed up early. Thankful that they seated us right away and we really enjoyed our meals . I would recommend this place for any Italian lovers Delicious

It’s a cute small restaurant that packs a lot of flavor. Great Italian dishes created by the one and only Maurizio himself. The staff is friendly and the food will have you returning for more

I think this is the best Italian restaurant in South Bay. I might be a little biased because I eat here 2 to 3 times a week here.

Not really worthy of 4.5 stars. Yes the owner is nice and cares that you get what you want — I bet he would make you anything you wanted. But there are better Italian restaurants in San Jose. The bread and dipping sauce were good.
