We tried this one night and service was horrible. The waitresses seemed to be so lost and not understand anything we ordered. We ordered a ‘california hand roll’, which we do at most sushi places and they were so confused at what it is, but instead of asking the sushi chefs right away they just kept arguing with us that they do not serve this. We had to ask several times for them to ask the sushi chefs and once they finally did, we got what we ordered. We are not picky at all and have all the respect in the world for waiters and have always treated them nicely. We even left our usual good tip even though service was the worse ever. The place seemed packed and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. However we just did not have a good experience bc our waitress kept messing up our order and service was just bad. We ordered a small miso soup for our 4 yr old, and they brought out a big ramen miso soup. Even though we said multiple times small soup for her… The food was just below average also. The shrimp tempura was a weird sandy texture as another review mentioned. They told us they were out of hot tea but we saw other tables after us order it? Maybe it was sold out to asians only which we were the only ones there. Will definitely not be coming back to this, which is a shame bc we love going out to eat near the house when we can.

We just moved to Wylie to get out of Dallas proper after living In the city for the last 15 years. We love sushi and have been fortunate to have some really good sushi close to where we previously lived. That being said, I’m just going to be blunt. This place is awful. The sushi was dry and definitely not fresh. I couldn’t eat those. The rolls are covered in toppings to hide how bad the fish is. If you like crab meat, be prepared to have your fill: it’s in and on everything. Both of the signature rolls I just had to spit out. They were that bad. And to top, I asked for fresh ground wasabi and received the standard paste. I’m honestly surprised we didn’t get sick. I’m not sure how this place could get over 2 stars, so I’m not sure how or why people give it 5. This place has to fix the freshness of their ingredients.

I really wanted to write a glowing review because the staff was great! However, the sushi was just so-so. It was a little fishy tasting which to me indicates it wasn’t very fresh. If you’re gluten free, your options a very limited.

Cute little Japanese restaurant that I was thrilled to find closer to my house. Friendly service and good food. The Shoyu Ramen was okay, but I would probably try more dishes. Broth is flavorful but overall I would rate it a 3⁄5. Sushi is very fresh. Miso soup a bit salty. Their tempera california roll was good — not too saucey. Prompt service.

I don’t know why there are bad reviews at this place! This is hands down the best sushi place I’ve ever been too! I always get their sweet potato and cucumber/avocado roll and it never disappoints me. Got it for under $ 10! Also, the employees were kind which is a plus. This will always be my to-go sushi place. Love how it’s literally right by my neighborhood!

Recommended! Nice, pleasant sushi alternative in Murphy. Clearly family owned and operated, the owners worry about atmosphere, presentation, taste, texture. Nothing to complain about. I will definitely be returning.

My mom decided to come here because it was relatively new and we were thinking of a place last minute to eat after a long day of shopping. I read some good Unilocal reviews so I decided to try the ramen! Who knew that it would turn out to be the worst decision of the night? My expectations for ramen are super high, so I came in hungry and ready! First of all our waiter messed up my boyfriends order(no onions), they put in chopped onion and left out the green onions?(Weird). But the waiter was friendly so that’s okay. Noodles were a bit soggy and bunched together. The broth lacked flavor. The pork wasn’t cooked right? The egg was a huge disappointment. It looked like they just hard boiled it and let it be. I wouldn’t come back for the ramen but maybe for their sushi?

We decided to give Kenzo a try. The food was ok and tonight they were really very busy. All the tables were full except for 2. The edamame was ok, tempura vegetables were good, the tempura shrimp was mushy. The sushi rice was under cooked and a little crunchy and it didn’t taste like sushi rice with any Marin. The Don Katsu(. Which is really tonkatsu). was dry. The Katsu was gravy. Our poor waiter kept telling every table he was sorry for the wait. Poor guy. If he didn’t keep apologizing for the wait no one really would have known. The orange at the end of our meal was delicious, probably the best part of our night. Maybe we’ll try again-Maybe???

This place is a welcomed addition to Murphy. Great miso ramen – on par with Ramen Hakata in Addison, but so much closer. The Kenzo roll is fun to watch them make and quite tasty too.

Tonight we went to Kenzo’s again. We have been there 3 times now and every time we have had great service from the staff. Jared is very accurate with the orders. We have been looking for a place like this close to home from Wylie. We have enjoyed the Salmon Sashimi, Galbi ribs, Gyoza Ramen, Grand Canyon Roll, Beef Negimaki and a few other things tonight. It is fresh and tender and flavorful food with great presentation. This is a really great place and I really do recommend it!

Stumbled upon this restaurant when I was searching for a place to eat at on New Years Eve. I ordered the miso ramen and the hubby ordered shoyu ramen. Both were delicious but the miso ramen was by far the best! The pork was very tender and delicious. We also ordered the Grand Canyon and Love Salmon roll. Growing up in CA, I am very particular of sushi spots. Many places don’t compare to those in CA. I was surprised that the sushi was very delicious and fresh. Kenzo is now in our top 5 go to restaurants. we’re also glad we don’t have to drive 25 – 30 mins from where we live to get awesome food!

Won’t be back… First the wine list had the name(maker) of the wine and the cost of the bottle. No cost by glass or what kind of wine it was(merlot, Chardonnay, etc). Then when I picked one they were out. Figures! Salad wasn’t fresh and the so called dressing was just clumped ginger. Sushi was ok. They had the soy sauce on the table but no soy sauce dish. Had to request it. I ordered the shrimp tempura and it wasn’t good. It was more like cornmeal tempura. I’ve had better at many other places. See photo below. My husband ordered the bulgogi and it was the only decent thing we are. For a new restaurant they need to be ready to impress customers and I was not. Just blah to me.

Went here with the whole family in town for the holidays and found a new place to love! We tried a sampling of everything(ramen, California rolls for the kids, tempura, north and south roll, spicy tuna roll and rainbow roll to name a few) and loved every bite. The staff was incredibly friendly and the quality of the fish is beyond compare. We will definitely be going here again.

Got the Ahi tower, Bulgoki, and Chicken Ramen to go. The guy on the phone was very professional and explained their menu very well! All of the dishes were excellent. Can’t wait to go back and dine in. Eager to try the sushi now, based on how good the Ahi tower was. Also, they bagged everything perfectly to ensure that none of the soups leaked. Small detail, but definitely appreciated. Will be back for sure !

Food — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Value — 5 stars Food is high quality and good-sized portions for the price you pay. Service is top-notch too. Any order of the ramen comes not just with the meat listed, but two gyozas in the soup as well. The rolls were several dollars cheaper than most places and the quality was still quite high — we got the caterpillar roll(the best I’ve had in the North Dallas area) and the Salmon Lover’s roll(good, but not the best we’ve had). The Tuna Tataki came with 6 pieces(even though the photo showed only 4 pieces) and the tuna was tender and flavorful. It is 15% off your bill through the end of December, and if you pickup one of their to-go menus outside, there is a 15% off coupon stapled to those which has no expiration date.

I’ve paid them a couple of visits. I’ve tried the gyoza ramen soup(came with a salad) and it was fantastic. Came back with the wife and we tried tempura sweet potato rolls and shrimp bento boxes. Everything was memorably wonderful. We’ll return for sure!
