Went in on Saturday night and had a little bit of a wait to get a table. But, as busy as the place was, that’s to be expected. The guy playing music was great and had a wonderful voice. The music made the wait for a table not so bad. When we finally got to sit down, we were almost immediately greeted by our server, Jim. He told us about their margaritas and a taco called the hot grandma. We ordered our drinks and he talked us into a three way appetizer which the sauces were wonderful. When we got our drinks, Jim walked us thru the menu and told us what some of his favorite dishes were. On his advice we got the(bleep) hole nachos and a couple of tacos. Everything came out fairly quick for such a busy time, and tasted wonderful. Our drinks never got more than halfway empty, and we even got to take our cups home with us. We’ll definitely be going back and will ask for Jim to be our server.

BESTNACHOSEVER!!! Fresh and absolutely delicious food. We are on vacation and decided to take a relaxing afternoon with lunch and a movie. We stumbled across this place on our way to the movie. So glad we did! Clean, vibrant atmosphere, friendly service and amazingly fresh food! I am disappointed that there are no Nacho Hippos closer to home! Guess that means I will need to come back to Myrtle Beach for more nachos!!!

The good: the fried banana peppers were breaded and friend to perfection. The décor and ambience are a good match for Myrtle Beach. Serving size/value for money. The bad: the 32oz cocktails taste like they contain the same amount of liquor as a regular version… they’re just diluted by extra juice etc. The tacos options are promising but they lack any sort of flavor from their component ingredients. The wait for a table isn’t worth it. The ugly: the chirzo/corn fritters were uncooked in the middle… they had the consistency of hummus. I really wanted to like Nacho Hippo but the quality of the food just isn’t there. Essentially, Nacho Hippo is a more ‘hip’ version of Chili’s.

This place is decorated to the max… it’s a feast for the eyes. The food is tex-mex all the way. Don’t expect Mexican(traditional or otherwise) but this is not a bad thing. The service the day we went was great! Our server was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant wasn’t very full on this Monday evening so we were lucky. We always share samples of our food amongst ourselves so I tried pretty much everything on the table… Bangin’ Shrimp App… Delicious! I joked that I could order 4 of these appetizers for my meal Hipponachomus nachos… I ordered this and it was great! The jalapenos were fresh and spicy. There was plenty of Chorizo on this huge plate of nachos. I pretty much finished it but I was struggling. Bleep Hole nachos… the chicken needed more flavor and it was too sweet overall from the mango salsa but it was still very good. Shredded pork nachos(make your own)… The pork had excellent flavor and there was plenty of it. Pork in every bite! An overall great experience here… a lot of food for your money. Great atmosphere. Great service. I would eat here again the next time I’m in MB.

Place is awesome. Good food for the price. Seating was easy and ordering was quick. good Tex-Mex food. Had the regular tacos for my first meal there and they were very good. Will be going back there when we move to Myrtle Beach.

Absolutely disgusting nachos– Guacamole was way over salted, cheese was not real cheese– just a horrible meal. Very sad that MYR airport does not have any real food options.

Regardless of your political views, «The Donald» nachos are awesome! There’s no skimping on the shrimp and they sauce is the right amount of heat for your tongue! With $ 3 house margarita specials, this is a relaxed atmosphere and a great place to eat, even if it is a holiday weekend!

Food is delicious, I had the rock lobsta taco and my husband did the build your own nachos. I also had a couple pomegranate mojitos which were delicious to say the least. Drinks averaged around $ 8 and the this were a bit pricey but you could mix and match them which worked for us. The tacos ran about $ 3.95 but you can always add rice and beans. After an appetizer of fried banana peppers, two tacos was enough for me.

Just great. I ate 3 tacos. The Korean bbq, the lobster, and the Ti one. All were great. Had a cheap margarita and it was awesome. Ate some of my wife’s Wild West quesadilla and it was also great. Service was good except it took a little long to get my water after the Korean bbq taco. My poor planning. Thumbs up you guys! We trashed like 5 place ideas before coming here. The wife’s good judgement prevailed.

Let me start off by saying we were very excited to try this place. I had heard some good reviews and the photos on Unilocal looked delicious. My husband and I were seated right away. It was 2:50 pm on a Saturday and I would say the restaurant was about half full. Not bad! But it took 15 minutes for the waitress to finally come to take our orders. That’s a long time to just be sitting there without a greeting or water. We like to cook the majority of our meals in our condo when we come to the beach, so we decided to splurge a little and try several items on their menu.(BTW: the menus were so cute!) For starters we ordered the queso and Chips and the corn fritters. The queso was very good and the chips were great too! The corn fitters were disappointing. They were bland, yet very spicy. I know that seems like a paradox… but it was true. The batter and outside were in desperate need of salt. The inside was doughy and VERY spicy. The kind of spice that makes it hard to distinguish other flavors. No Bueno. They were so bad we decided to send them back. Which the manager took off our ticket with no problem. Now for the entrees. My husband ordered the tortilla soup which he enjoyed. He also had the Rock Lobsta taco and the Gringo taco. I had the Rock Lobsta taco, the Gringo and the Carolina BBQ taco. We both agreed that the Rock Lobsta taco was not good. The lobster was bland, chewy and had obviously been battered and fried in the same batter and oil as the fish taco because we both noticed a fishy taste. Neither one of us finished our Rock Lobsta taco. The Gringo was just ok, nothing special. The Carolina BBQ was the best on flavor. The pork was well season and juicy. The atmosphere was very fun and colorful. There are several TVs around the bar to watch the game. I feel that in Nacho Hippo’s case, looks are deceiving. While it looks like you are going to get great, flavorful cantina food, in reality this place is bland and quite pricey.

First, no complimentary chips & salsa. The guacamole was quite mediocre, sour even. The ground beef taco was unseasoned, and didn’t taste good. Fish tacos were soft and mushy, rice was clumpy. You know, it’s a cool atmosphere and the food is not great but tonight was just awful. For my husband not to finish his food it had to be bad.

Great place to eat. If you and your spouse like to split a meal. This would be the place to go. Large servings for a great price.

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened but live an hour away; finally got time after catching a movie with my youngest son today, it did not disappoint. I really like good Tex-Mex and they take it to another level here by fusing it with other ethnic and a few classic american flavors in many of their dishes. We tried the(Bleep) Hole Nachos for a starter; really large platter and piled high, if I wasn’t very hungry this would have filled us two up probably. There was more than a half pound of tender chicken in nice big pulled pieces(it was well seasoned but couldn’t really tell it was Jerk spices — minor quibble). Plenty of tasty black beans, cheese and very fresh and tasty salsa full of sweet mango. I had a bit of room left and wanted to try more things so I ordered a Blackened Baja Fish Taco, a Kahuna Taco and my son wanted to try the Love You Long Time Taco. All of them were excellent — well prepared protein with fresh, high quality ingredients /salsas rounding them out. Service was fast, friendly and efficient(Levi took excellent care of us, knew the menu inside out). A Manager stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking which is always a good sign of a well run establishment to me. This is a fun and very good concept with reasonable prices, I know they opened a second location not too long ago at Barefoot Landing and would like to see them keep expanding if they can keep up the quality. I’ll definitely be back to try more things and their Margaritas, one of the few cocktails I like. They make them from scratch /REAL JUICE /no neon green colored, antifreeze looking, preservative filled toxic sludge from a big plastic container here. And they carry some good Tequilas as well, I was driving home so just had beer from a small but decent draft selection(they have more bottled).

Tried this place out while down in Myrtle Beach over the summer. BESTNACHOSEVER! Had the Day After, which has chili, taco beef, black beans, jalapeños, queso melt, crema, queso fresco, lettuce, and pico for $ 10.95 which is easily enough to feed two. I will definitely be back when I’m in Myrtle Beach!

This is for the airport location. We’ll start with the good… Chicken Nachos and the queso dip… hard to mess those up. Skip the Love You Long Time taco, chicken, mango salsa and cashews… sounds good, but it was boring and kind of cold… which leads to the next comment… Bad service. My food arrived before my margarita… which was weak and bland. Had to hunt down the waitress for our bill… IF I had wanted another drink, I would have been out of luck, since she never came around again. It would have to be a HUGE delay for me to eat there again. I would rather get pizza or Steak & Shake.

One of the first small businesses that we explored in Myrtle Beach and definitely a great introduction to the area! Nacho Hippo is located directly next to the free public parking garage in the area, so while the parking near the building is pretty minimal, it’s less than a block’s walk to make it to the restaurant itself. We didn’t spend much time inside since we sat outside, but it seemed nicely decorated inside. Lots of Mexican and hippo-themed decorations. Outdoor area only had a couple tables, but considering there was a line out the door to get a table(on a holiday weekend), we were just happy to be in a quieter area. They have a neat fortune-cookie-like menu that’s really unique. Was impressed. They have a plethora of different types of food — burritos, nachos, and more. The food itself was okay. The burritos tasted pretty tex-mex. It wasn’t bad, but they didn’t taste like«true» Mexican food — which is okay. The person who ordered quasadillas really liked them. I had the make-your-own-nachos order, and while the toppings were fantastic, the chips were really mediocre. If they replaced the nachos with a different type of nacho, I think they’d really have a winning dish there. We loved that they have $ 3 house margaritas all day, every day. Great price for that. They make their own in-house mix for them. However, after ordering 3, none of them tasted the same at all. It’s possible they were just busy and did a bad job mixing, but I like to have some regularity when ordering something like that. The first one was very strong while the second was really sugary. The last one seemed to be a mix of strong and sugary. Our waitress was friendly. It was clear she was a bit overworked, but as she told us when she started serving, it was her third day of work, and she was doing a fantastic job of keeping our drinks filled and everything. Would say that she’s doing an above-average job — and she was super friendly about it as well. Manager checked in to see how we were doing as well. Good experience. One of our favorite places we’ve gone to so far. Would definitely go back.

It was a beautiful day out and fun place to eat outside and people watch. The atmosphere was fun and lively. We had $ 2 beer, water and sweet tea. We shared some the sampler and ordered seafood nachos. The nachos were more than enough to share. The Korean taco sounded better than it tasted but I can’t pin-point why. The Queso was loved by all.

To start the service was a bit off, but I’ll attribute that to a one off. Once we saw a waitress, she was excellent. Now the food: The nachos were good, but not as amazing as I was hoping. The tacos, however, are incredible. I tried the Love Me Long Time, and it was the best taco I’ve ever had. I would have given more stars for the good taco, but the nachos only being okay is a little bit of a let down for a place with nacho in the name.

We arrived and there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. We luckily were able to get in right away because we only needed a table for 2. Once seated, it felt like we waited a good 10 minutes before someone came to wait on us. Once the waitress finally started our order, things progressed. We really looked forward to the nachos more so because nacho is in the restaurant name. So how could the nachos be «just okay», if it seems to be their specialty? I’m not a fan of spicy foods — and the nachos were HOT. To the point where water wasn’t even the slightest bit soothing, and I had finished my tacos. So we paid, and I left with my eyes watering like a faucet, and my nose running down my face. I looked like a mess. No where on the menu did it say the type of nachos we ordered had any super spicy items in it. That was a huge disappointment to me. The waitress could have assured that it contained something with a zing to it. I don’t see us returning anytime soon.
