Stone Oven Pizza

Hey, folks, check this out. In February of 2010 I posted an unfavorable review of Stone Oven’s Duck location. Not only was it the first review posted for that location, it remains to this date the ONLY review.
Today, after more than FIVE AND ONE HALF YEARS, I received a «compliment» from «Sophie B», who claims to be the co-​owner of Stone Oven:
«Fudge you, I’m the co owner of this place and you’re just salty you have weak teeth»
Ya know something, Sophie, we no longer live in a world where stupid comments like that can remain secret.

Pizza delivery took over 2 hours. The supposedly large pizzas were quite small and thin. The pizzas themselves were edible but unimpressive. Ordered three, one was quite cold, the others were at least mostly warm. Tremendously overpriced for what was delivered, even ignoring the lengthy wait.

Worse stromboli EVER!!! Would not even give 1 star if it didn’t make me. Ordered 2 steak, mushroom, onion and jalapeño. Was all bread. Took 1 hour in off season. This stromboli was ½ the size I’ve gotten at other places but 4x the price. $ 26 for 2 stromboli. …really? By the way we were staying less than .25 miles from the place. Never again. When I called establishment to complain I was told by manager on duty «THAT’S HOW WE DO THINGS». Poor business practice, never again, :(

This place is terrible. Upon letting management know, he was rude and didn’t care. First and last trip there.

We got a sausage and onion pizza to go. The crust was thin, well cooked, and the sauce was fine with enough cheese and toppings. We were satisfied and would be quite happy to give them another try.

Restaurant took an hour to deliver less than a mile away. My group of 10 called it some of the worst pizza they’d ever had. I’d go into detail, but why? Let me say it again… some of the worst pizza any of us had ever had.

Best pizza I’ve ever had in my life very clean and beautiful view !!! Rail out back is skate able but need to bring piece of plywood for landing, great area underneath the building to relax in the shade of it’s too hot outside

Agree with all the other lousy reviews! Don’t bother! It will be closed shortly! The cheese had no flavor. Crust was not fresh and undercooked. Sauce was Canned and metallic tasting. Service very very slow.

This was a terrible pizza, very similar to a piece of cardboard with sauce on top. I don’t recommend getting this pizza at all. The only plus to this one is quick delivery.

This place is a ridiculous excuse for a restaurant. Go to food lion and get a frozen pizza and save yourself the pain and suffering.

I’d give zero stars If I could. This establishment can’t survive on repeat orders because there wouldn’t be any. Likely most of their business is on move in day/​night. They have a good location and catchy name but there is nothing «stone oven» about this place. We called in a pick up order at 4:30 pm, they said it would be 45 min to 1 hour. We showed up at 5:30 and they said it would be «a few more minutes». They repeated this when I asked again a second time. 45 minutes later they provided our pizzas — most were cold and hard while a few were just out of the oven. They didn’t have the right size boxes so we ended up with twice as many boxes. Crust and sauce were nondescript — I would NOT order from them — there has to be better ways to run a business and there has to be better alternatives for pizza — please search around and choose someone else.

For years we have ordered pizza, wings and salads from Stone Oven on move in night. It had previously always been OK — edible at least and the wings and salads pretty good. This year, when I ordered I was told that there were only enough wings for one order. That should have been my clue! When our order came, the pizza was cold and the crust hard, and the wings were overdone to the point of being rock hard and completely inedible — like they had been fished out of the bottom of the fryer after being left in there for hours. They should never have been sent out. Never again!

So far I’m not impressed this year. Years of visiting this place and they are going down hill fast.

The pizza was delicious!!! I would definitely stop by again. Try the white cheese steak pizza

I ordered a large cheese for my kids. There was very little sauce or cheese on it. It looked rather dry and over cooked. The kids said it was spicy too. Wish I didn’t give such a big tip.

Good pizza. The sauce is a little bit sweeter than usual but tasty. The crust is more breadsticky and chewy and VERY delicious. The place was already closed by 9:15 when we called but the guy closing up made us the pizza and delivered it on his way home. Great customer service and pretty tasty pizza.

Fast delivery, average price for average pizza. The cheese sticks were good but the pizza was just ok.

They said on the phone that delivery would take 40 minutes, 1 hour and 25 minutes later our pizza arrived overcooked and not even hot (room temperature, we had to microwave it to make it bearable). Delivery guy didn’t apologize or give a reason for it being so late. Toppings were quite sparse, and the ‘extra cheese’ pizza had the same amount of cheese as the normal cheese pizza.
We are only 7 miles away from the shop… How did that take almost 1.5 hours to deliver? Weak.
Very disappointing, won’t be ordering from here again.

This place is great. It is quaint and simple. And the pizza s incredible. Great service and friendly staff.

Wow. Just… wow. My roommate and I went to his family’s beach front home to fix some pipes, and I took his advice and purchased a pizza from here. This place is «bangin» as a previous roommate would have said. Cooked well, the sauce and crust were great. The cheese was a good quality. I definitely plan to come back! I’ll have to mention it to my parents, who visit OBX each April.
No photos… it was too dark when I arrived… and I ate the pizza before I realized I should have taken one after un-​boxing it.
