Ms Buffy’s French Cleaners

We had a good experience for a few years, but in the end, an expensive piece of clothing was stolen. We had to file a claim. what a mess. It’s a shame that people cannot be reliable.

I have been coming to Ms. Buffy’s for 17 years. The service is excellent. The lady at the counter (don’t know her name, so in my head I just call her Ms Buffy) is polite, helpful, honest about what can be done with stains, and accommodating of my schedule. When I lived next door, they would deliver to my building and I never once had a late delivery.
I’ve had hundreds of items cleaned here, and maybe 3 – 4 total I was disappointed with. I think that is a very good success rate. The quality is very good, and everything is steamed/​folded/​hung as expected. I’ve had a few items tailored here, and they came back very fast and for much cheaper than other estimates I got.
My best endorsement is that I moved downtown and I still come here for dry cleaning.

I went to Ms. Buffy’s based on the high reviews from the site. I brought a new dress to get a new hem and the straps shortened. When I returned to pick it up, the sewn hem itself was grossly uneven — as if I had done it myself. The straps also were sewn unevenly and looked like they were done by an unexperienced tailor. I was leaving on a trip that evening right after work and had to have a solution. They said the hem on the dress was uneven to begin with; I brought the dress in to get hemmed — how could that be an excuse? And besides, that doesn’t excuse an uneven sewing job. That also doesn’t excuse the bad strap job at the top of the dress. Finally after some discussion they said they would redo the hem in 10 minutes. They took out the hem and sewed the bottom of the dress. The dress was still too long (the hemming of the dress was purposeless), the top wasn’t fixed, and I still had to pay $ 45. And they had the gall to tell me people come from Wall Street for their services! The next two times I washed the dress (while on my trip and when I returned), it took my an hour each time to try and get the bottom hem even with no luck. Somehow when they sewed the hem, they pulled the fabric so it is crooked and it cannot be ironed straight; it looks horrible (and I know how to iron). So I am going to have to pay a heavy sum of money getting the dress fixed. I will have to may more money getting this dressed fixed then for the cost of the dress. Ms. Buffy’s did a great disservice to me and to their reputation. I am very disappointed with their work and how they treated the situation.

We’ve used Buffy’s for years and will continue to do so for years to come because this week my husband left over $ 100 cash in his pant’s pocket plus a $ 100 gift card, and Buffy’s called us so we could come get it. In addition to being honest, Buffy’s is the best dry cleaners in midtown — exceptional service, fast, and a good price!!! Don’t go anywhere else.

I came here to do some alternations on some dress pants for work. They have a small enclosed space to change into the pants in question and then they mark up the pants based on the desired length. I had no issues and couple days later my pants were perfectly hemmed with exactly the length I wanted. Thanks Ms Buffy.

I’ve been coming to Buffy for the last year and I’ve been happy with the service and the quality of their work!
Pros:
* No problems with dry-​cleaning and hemming– always satisfied with the work
* I spilled candle wax on a brand new dress– and they got rid of all of it!
* My beloved old jeans had a huge hole, and they patched it up really well!
* Friendly service– when some new stitching broke, they repaired it gratis. The Korean lady in the front is also pretty honest with that they can and cannot clean/​repair.
* The prices are not Chinatown, but hey, it’s standard for Midtown!

I have been going to the cleaners in this location for 22 ½ years. The new owners who took over several years ago however are very sneaky. They lose your laundry, then find it mysteriously 2 weeks later when you complain. My two best blouses were stolen and were not returned to me in the laundry that was given back after I demanded compensation. The very cold sneaky woman, a liar, offered me 9 lbs of laundry on her to compensate for 2 $ 100 blouses that were stolen. I will never go back to there again. I miss the nice owner at Jeanne Cleaners, the prior owners. Do NOT go to Seed Cleaners. Run, run, far far away.

I had a blazer dry-​cleaned. After I picked it up the blazer had a HUGE CUT on the arm. This has never happened anywhere else before. I am extremely disappointed and sad (since this is my favorite blazer and it cannot be fixed!!!)
I will definitely NEVER go back and CANNOT recommend this place!

Either they return my shirts with stains or with holes. The worst dry cleaner I’ve ever experienced.

Went there for clean up a cotton coat. Which just wore once in almost brand new condition, just for make it perfectly as a gift. BUT, came back with a obvious big stain right at the center back.
They were even trying to hide this mistake while pick up, and refused me when I asked if they can give it a try to fix it. The only thing I can do now is ask other place and share my true story here. I want to rate no star if the Unilocal system allows.

They’re good. Solid dry cleaning and basic alterations are good.
However, I still can’t forget the time where they ripped a part of my dress shirt and refused to admit it was their fault. No compensation or apology.

I decided to try Ms Buffy’s based on the generally positive reviews and short distance from my apartment. I brought in two dress shirts (blue, white) and a grey suit for dry cleaning, all gently worn and slightly wrinkly from being stuffed in a box for the move.
They were delivered to my doorman 3 days later. The blue shirt is clean and pressed correctly. The white shirt had two yellow stains (sauce of some kind) when I brought it in. Unfortunately, they are still there and quite visible, with the addition of jagged creases on the collar from being pressed incorrectly. Worst of all, a leg of the suit pant now has a bit of fabric coming undone right below the knee (not a seam). This was not there when I brought it in. Luckily, it won’t be that noticeable when I need to wear it next week due to the color, but this is unacceptable.

It’s pricey but my clothes come back very clean. I can’t complain!

Been using Ms Buffy for a year now, so it’s fair to give it an honest overview — it’s over priced and not good enough. They always have trouble removing stains/​dirt, even after bring back for the second time. However when I take it elsewhere, it comes off right away with no questions raised. Just like the way Unilocal puts it — Meh, I’ve experienced better.

I’ve been using Ms Buffy’s for a few years now due to the fact that I live down the street. There are actually a number of dry cleaners in the area, but I chose Ms Buffy’s because of the great reviews on Unilocal and they have not let me down yet.
Their prices are comparable to other dry cleaners in the area, but not cheap. Everything has come back immaculate and on time. However, they are reluctant to do same day unless you drop off really early, but this hasn’t really been a problem for me.
What I do love about Ms Buffy’s is the service. They are super nice and professional. And I appreciate that the original ticket they wrote up for me once actually overcharged me because at first glance, they thought the dress I dropped off was more delicate than it was — so they corrected it and charged me LESS.

— hard to schedule pick up: There have been multiple occasions where I’ll call for a morning pickup and they’d offer a million excuses as to why they couldn’t that day. Finally I would beg them to come get my laundry and 90% of the time they’d agree. But really, do I need to beg you to let me pay you?
— overcharges: I sent two bags of laundry together, one was 18lbs and the other was 5lbs (overflow from the first bag). Rather than combining the bags, they charged me $ 10 for the second bag because it didn’t meet the $ 10 minimum. Really Ms Buffy? Thanks for pissing off a long-​time customer for an additional $ 3.75.
Takeaway: Go here if you’re ok dealing with the crappy customer service.

I came here to bring in two pieces — a leather skirt that needed a hem (the seamstress insisted on the length, which was a bit longer than I wanted, but ended up looking great) and a leather purse that needed the lining patched up and dry cleaned. They did an excellent job with both pieces (although they are VERY expensive); however, I requested that the leather be restored on the purse, and instead they «cleaned it.» It honestly ended up looking exactly the same, it didn’t need to be cleaned, it needed the leather restored, which they later told me they couldn’t do.

I moved to Hell’s Kitchen recently and have been a loyal customer of Ms Buffy’s for a few months now. The service is nice and courteous and the prices are very fair for the midtown area. They always clean my shirts and jackets in their quoted time frame and my clothing always looks great. If you live in the area, this is definitely the place you should go to for your dry cleaning and pressing needs.

I live close by so it’s nice to find a great cleaner at a good price.
This was my first time trying out a dry cleaner’s near my new place, and I was happy I picked Ms. Buffy’s.
Pros:
1. Very nice and courteous woman took my order (the owner?)
2. Fair midtown price for dry cleaning and hemming
3. Offers free delivery (don’t need though because I live a pebble’s throw away)
4. Gave a completion time and HONORED it.
5. On to the part you care about: the cleaning! My suits looked more crisp and perfect as ever, smelled great, as if I just had purchased them off the rack. The hemming job was top notch, couldn’t even tell which pant leg I asked her to hem…
6. Professional receipt and enumerated items with clear prices, not some crayon written on a napkin. Incredibly professional service.
Cons:
None really, I hate when Unilocalers complain about prices when it’s in MIDTOWN.
