Groupon experience: Short and to the point Had dinner with my husband. When I showed my server the groupon, he was confused. So he called the manager. He had NOIDEAWHAT A GROUPONWAS. After 5min of proving to them that it was THEIRRESTURANT, he made a call to someone. After ANOTHER10MIN, my groupon was redeemed. NEVERAGAIN.

I love eating here. The food is always fresh and tasty and very authentic. My favorite is the shami kabob and brown rice. The service is great. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful in recommending new dishes. Compared to the other Afghan reaturaunt’s, the prices are very competitive and fair. The inside of the resturaunt is very open and not at all cramped, with plenty of parking outside.

My daughter and I were staying at the Marriott next door. We were looking for a nearby place and saw Kabul Express on Unilocal. We like kabobs so this place was our choice. It was a great choice. I loved the eggplant dish I had as a app. The kabobs were outstanding, wonderful spices. The meat and vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked. The tea was great and refilled throughout the meal. Afgan food is wonderful. I wish we had an Afgan restaurant in my town. The service was very warm and friendly. It is also a great value, excellent food at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Been there a number of times, the kabobs are always nice and flavorful. I love the Afghan dessert firni and the last two times I been there, they didn’t have it. Oh well, I am gonna be fair and not remove stars for that. Over all the service is great, the food is delicious and I will definitely will go there again.

We were headed to this strip mall to go for a different restaurant; however, the delicious smells coming from Kabul Express made us change our mind :) I’m vegetarian and I was able to find a good number of options off the appetizer menu. all of which were delicious — my husband the meat eater agreed as well! Here’s what we ordered: — Spinach(veg) — Eggplant(veg) — Bolani(veg) — Side of white rice(veg) — Chicken korma sort of dish(its on the appetizer menu) — Lamb Rice Everything that we ordered was super delicious. We normally go to Salang Pass, but I think we found a new option for Afghan food. Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a fabulous dinner here tonight. We started off with Borani Bodenjan — Roasted eggplant topped with yogurt and served with naan. It was out of this world fabulous. Our salads were ice cold and crispy, just the way we like them. For dinner we had kabobs: steak, lamb, and shammi which is a seasoned ground beef kabob. I actually preferred the Shammi because it was so flavorful although they were all great. We highly recommend this place. Give it a try.

I don’t even know where to start! Me and my bf saw a groupon deal for buy one entrée and get the second on for 50%. So we were like awesome let’s try this out and hopefully get a good dinner after a long day of working and studying. The location is a bit odd but once we got there it got more odd. As we entered the building the host or waiter was sitting in front and in the dark. Strange right? There was absolutely no other people there to eat!!! Anyways the waiter got up and turned on the lights and sat us down. At this point were like anyways we are ready to order and eat!
We ordered some lamb quabuli, chicken kabobs and some bolani. The bolani wasn’t too bad but the meat quality of the rice dish and kabob was horrible. The lamb was dry and had a gamey taste to it and it looked like it was old meat. The chicken was stiff and plain salty. On top of the horrible food, the owners daughter was really obnoxious. She kept butting into our conversation and doing random things to grab attention. She kept playing with her jacket, zipping and unzipping it from the top down till her chest. I have no idea what she was trying to flash us with but her behavior was quite inappropriate and unpleasant while the owner, her mom didn’t not ask if we enjoyed the food or if we have any problems with the food nor smiled and or said hello. Horrible service but felt bad for the waiter because he was trying his best to serve us and just listened to what he was being told. Sooooo…DONOTCOMEHERE!!! Not the best place for afghan food!!! Rather go to union city or San Ramon to get afghan food.

I thought this was going to be a cheap little fast food type place and it wasn’t, it was so much better. Great food made fresh and still fairly low prices.

Halal meat is served here. Owners are known Muslims. Went here recently for a late lunch. Had the mantoo appetizer(excellent) and the chicken kebab plate(very good). Comes with a salad and complimentary Afghani chai(green tea). Very clean and nice interior with enough room for small parties. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommended.

I am rating this place 1 star just Becuz the waitress had bad attitude, seriously when I go out to eat I’m expecting a good customer service. Me and my friend decided to go and give them a try, they were slow no one was there except one lady by the register and waitress, she forgot to bring our bread and chutney! She was very busy checking out her damn cell phone every single min. They use tortilla to make bolani. Mantu was kinda Sweet Their kabob was okay. I rather go to De afghanan and eat some good/real Afghan food.

I’m so in love with this place its not even funny… I order the same thing every time. Kabob with brown rice. I would go once or twice for lunch a week when I use to work down the street… I even made a lunch date in Newark just so I could have it again… And I live in San leandro. I’m not one to eat meals like this especially on a lunch break, I’m more of a fast food girl, but it’s so yummy I could eat it everyday lol

This place is the best place In The Bay Area for afghani food, always fresh, always clean and tastes the best! Lunch combos are a great deal. 7.99 for most of the dishes and its a good amount of food… enough to take leftovers with you. Great service also!!!

Delicious food, reasonable price, and a very cute venue for holding small parties(birthday, engagement etc). I have been to so many parties in this venue and everyone absolutely loved it.

We tried this place today and the food didn’t teste fresh. Even my Daughter complains about the bread was old and chewy and the rice and chicken had this after taste.

I love Afghan food and in the Fremont area there’s certainly no shortage of places to try. I’ve been to Kabul Express a few times over the last few months, getting takeout each time, and overall it’s about average. I’ve tried the lamb and chicken kabob plates and enjoyed both. The service varies from friendly to indifferent depending on who is behind the counter. Wait times for takeout orders are invariably slow, even after calling in I’ve waited 20 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant. If you have a big party, this place is extremely spacious and is set up to accommodate very large groups. Compared to other Afghan restaurants in the area, Kabul Express definitely falls a bit flat. However, if you live in the neighborhood and need a quick bite or have a large group you’re looking to accommodate, it might be worth considering.

Why does De Afghanan Kabob House get all the thunder? This place is freagin’ awesome! It’s got everything you could want from a dining experience! Delicious food, clean space, quiet eating area, great service, beautiful dining room, gorgeous exotic Middle Eastern waitresses! It really has it all. I’m surprised I don’t see the place more busy. The food here is outstanding. I’ve had every single type of Kabob and it never fails to amaze me. The best one though has to be the Shammi Kabob. It is SOOO flavorful and tender. The brown rice also comes in a very generous portion with a decent flavor to it also. You should also try the Bolani there, it is significantly better than the Bolani at De Afghanan Kabob House. The place is definitely surprisingly charming when you go inside. I guess they host some parties there for people so they have a rather big dining area, with a lovely flower arrangement at all the tables. I can’t even write about the atmosphere without thinking how much flavor the Shammi Kabob has. It’s incredible, take out is only $ 7 if you come at lunch so just try the Shammi Kabob and experience the most delicious meat that you’ve ever had cooked on a skewer before.

This is the 3rd time we are dinning here with family. Each time leaving with very high satisfaction. Decoration, cleanness, FOOD, price with cherry on the top SERVICE was excellent. This place is great for party too. I love Qabeli the Afghan famous dish with lamb shank, shredded carrot and raisins on rice«palao». My wife loves their Mantoo. So tasty and flavorful. My kids loves their chicken and beef kabobs. Fresh hot tea and ice cream are a must have, after yummy food. We like to drink tea, and kids like ice cream. I recommend this place for all meat lovers and veggieterians. The egg plant with white rice«chalao» is an excellent choice. I will take my friends and family there again, as repeat quality service made me add them on the top of my Persian Food choices.

A friend and I had an early dinner(around 4:00PM) here on a Saturday. I was very pleased with the Tekka Kabob that I ordered. Also, the brown rice that came with the dish was very good. My friend, who is a picky eater, really liked his Chicken Kabob. I ate here once back in 2008 with my dinner club, and everyone liked it. I don’t usually drive through this area, which is the only reason that I can think of why I haven’t returned sooner. Anyway, am looking forward to trying the other kabobs here on a future visit.
