Awesome walk-up sushi spot. Good quality food at a great price. Not a high-end sushi restaurant, but that’s not what it’s trying to be. Yet still a chill, clean atmosphere. And the cashier/server Tilly is the bomb!

Pretty dammm good. Had terrayaki bowls. Terrayaki sauce was decent(could use improvement), portions were large and chicken was well prepared. Good value for the $$$$. Staff super cool on phone and in person. Very accommodating and nice. We will be back.

Surprisingly affordable considering how close to the beach this is. Lady was friendly and courteous. I eat a lot of sushi and this is not a super high quality but given the location and cost its a bargain.

Been in many times for a beer before a movie but this was my second time eating here. I debated 2 stars but decided that would only reflect todays experience. Previously, i had some noodle dish, today I tried the sushi. Unfortunately, today will be the last time. The Hang-ten roll seemed easy enough to like. The description reads: Spicy tuna roll, topped with seared albacore, garlic and ponzu. The top of my roll was equal parts albacore and garlic. And the kind of garlic from a jar, overwhelming any other flavor. Perhaps that was a good thing. When I tried to dispose of the garlic and just eat the fish, I couldn’t. Roll left with one slice taken. I finished my edemame and beer before going down the street for lunch. :(

All i can say is that, the service was great, but the food was a tad bit mediocre. The spring rolls we ordered were just basically frozen eggrolls, really soggy on the inside. the sushi that i got was decent just that theres some things you dont put in sushi… The udon soup was good, if you want some okay«japanese» food, stop by here, but if yowant good japanese food and sushi i suggest you actually go to an actually sushi place.

Decided to go here and have a teriyaki chicken bowl. It’s definitely a good deal and the chicken was prepared pretty well. Parts of it were a little too charred for me but most of it was great. Also had a salmon roll for the first time. I’m not sure what they season it with but it was lovely! I’m not one to eat sushi but I’m glad I tried it here. Great for beginners like myself.

Nice to visit for a quick bite and a beer when at the pier. Good, Fresh Sushi at a reasonable price which is perfect for this neighborhood. Nice variety on the menu with a couple of beers on tap, not just the standard Japanese beer.

After strolling through downtown Oceanside, I got hungry and didn’t want to spend too much money. This place had reasonable prices and the food tasted really fresh! The staff was super chill and it’s not at all far from the beach. I got the Surf-Up Roll which came with a choice of miso soup or salad. The albacore was not at all seared which kinda took away from the overall taste. Buuut for the price, it was not too shabby.

The Steak Teriyaki Plate was very good and the price was great for this area, near the beach. Service was also very good and the staff helpful.

I loooooved the beef teriyaki bowl I had. I was visiting the area with some friends and stopped in for a bite to eat. What a refreshing — clean — welcoming place. The staff was very friendly and competent. I can’t wait to bring my hubby back so he can try some fish entrees. I will repeat my order as it was one of the best beef bowls I have ever had. Kuddos Umi Grill I will be back.

I’ve had Japanese food from SO many places and honestly this place is AMAZING!!! The sushi is prepared perfectly, and the price is so reasonable! This is a great date night spot if you want to impress a lady with sushi but don’t have to pay the high price. ALSO, if you haven’t had their Korean BBQ ribs you are missing out! I’ve gotten so many people hooked on those. You know the food is good when you still have a hard time ordering because you know EVERYTHING is phenomenal. :-)

Came back again for a great lunch at Umi’s, this time I got the shrimp tempura hand roll and the freshwater eel roll, both were great. Food came out not even 5 min after I ordered, I really can’t say anything bad about this place(aside from not having a bathroom, but there’s other places with those so I Umi’s is alright with me)

Food came promptly, I was surprised the rolls came with miso soup or house salad, didn’t read the menu well enough. The roll was good as well, no complaints.

I just dropped my toddler off for her first day of preschool. I should have gone to workout except I’m feeling this weird emotion like I want to cry, mixed with anxiety, mixed with pride and then a little relief? I haven’t felt this way since my college boyfriend left me to go live with a dude 3 hours outside of London in the middle of winter. He left perfect San Diego weather and waves and insanely awesome Mexican Food to freeze his skinny arse off in sub zero weather to live with his«friend». But I digress. This place is A-Ok in my opinion. A bit of comfort sushi for my belly and I’m right as rain(except for SD rain. SD rain sucks. It’s just dirt… again I digress) This eatery is clean and nicely decorated. Prices are reasonable. The food is tasteful and not over exaggerated. The lady behind the counter sports a cute grey flannel cap and is friendly, professional and straight forward. Food was timely and tastes great. For me simple is awesome. So if you want to comfort your belly after realizing your baby is no longer a baby, and one day will leave you to her own independence and her own life — or your formerly hetero boyfriend leaves you to experiment with being bisexual– then come here. Be comforted. Be happy. Eat well.

As good as a fast sushi place should be. The guy at the register was really friendly, helped me navigate the menu, got my food out quickly, offered recommendations, smiled, the works. Nothing to complain about. Fish quality is good for the price and the portion of salmon in the salmon teriyaki bowl was substantial – and it came with vegetables! Left feeling very satisfied. He even said goodbye to me as I left. It’s the little things. Tucked away next to the box office of a Regal Cinemas. Thanks guys.
