Wow, what an upgrade ?!? The new owner has really done something with this place… changed from the neighborhood dive bar in a strip mall to a craft beer destination in good olé O’vale. On the outside its hard to tell the difference, but the inside they got rid of the dusty, 1980’s faux rock wall(wood paneling remains! :) and they now have 20 tap craft beer selection, and less than half are IPAs if you can believe it ?!? Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re a true beer lover and want to go somewhere local. Enjoy!

Great spot after the recent upgrades. 20 microbrews now on tap. Nice patio out back. Interesting crowd and friendly barkeeps. Grab some great takeout Mexican at Lupitas and enjoy it at the Black Stallion.

Bartenders are awesome! Drinks are delicious! Many improvements and upgrades going on! 20 taps going in! One of the best places to hang out in orangevale/Folsom. Huge back patio. Pool, darts, live music — great place to pop in a grab a beer solo or bring a big group.

Definitely the best word to describe this place is Interesting. We popped in just to see what was going on here since its so close to home. Drinks were average, atmosphere was what you would expect for a total corner hole in the wall in Orangevale. The people working were just normal. Not over friendly but we weren’t ignored. I’m happy we checked it out, but there are so many places around here that offer better for the same price and location.

I’m a people watcher and I totally dig this bar, popcorn ceiling and all! It’s a hidden gem(more or less) and the décor is quirky. The drinks are decent, the prices aren’t horrible, the female middle-aged bartender is chill, and I enjoy that there’s a pool table and dart boards. Cards are accepted — $ 10 minimum.

Somewhere I will never go again for karaōke or drinks. Too many tweekers for my liking each time I have been in there. I have been there about 12 different times over the past 5 years. And the women’s restroom smells like cat urine. Now if you like to watch people this may indeed be your place. I sure hope they have cleaned the place up.

You will miss it if you don’t know its there. The Black Stallion has been part of Orangevale for ever. dark, old, quiet — drinks are good and strong. Has a pool table, dance floor and an area for bands. They do the Karaōke thing some nights, just not sure which one. It is in the corner of the newly remodeled strip mall, next to a tattoo parlor, and a Mexican restaurant(the name escapes me). They were only taking cash last time I was in and the ATM machine was kaput. It is a great place for a mid day drink, or after work meet. Crowd tends to be a bit older, same as Jans across the street. The only downside is the music selection on the Juke is really outdated, and expensive.
