Dave was the primary butcher at the old Randy’s Market before it closed, and he is back here at Randy’s Meat Market with the best meat at great prices! Two weeks ago I bought a 3lb pot roast for dinner for three-everyone wanted the leftovers and we wished we had more. Today I made a sirloin tip roast that was spectacular. His filet mignons can be purchased individually, and they are the best I ever made at home! Chicken breasts that are nicely filleted for the grill, old fashioned meatloaf, fantastic ribs… he has it all here. I live and work downtown, but whenever I am in the Orland Park area I stop by. I shop a bit at Whole Foods and Mariano’s, but Randy’s meat is incomparable.

Randy’s used to be a grocery store on 143rd and LaGrange… and they had one of the best meat markets around. They always had fresh meats and the butchers there could pretty much get you anything you wanted with a bit of notice. They were fun to work with for those that were still meat lovers. But Randy’s closed a while back… The main guy back in the original Randy’s days(Paul) got together with another butcher(Vic) and they have now opened a new store… this one on 151st Street and this one for meats and meat lovers only. They do not carry a full line of grocery items… pretty much just meats. They have a deli section that offers a number of items, and the two butchers work in the back to bring out anything in the fresh meats category for the customers. I suspect their main business is restaurant supply, and this retail face is for the extras. Since this Randy’s evolution is not as huge as the one on 143rd Street, it will be some time until we can tell how they will fare from the retail point of view. The old Randy’s would get over 500 turkeys for Thanksgiving and hundreds of standing rib roasts for Christmas time. I don’t think the 151st Street shop will be able to do that business for awhile… but here’s hoping they do. Give this guy a try… I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Came here with a friend to stock up on meat for his BBQ. GREATPLACE! The owner, Vic, is helpful and knows his stuff. My buddy is a complete«meat snob» and only eats the good stuff(like Argentinian grass-fed, etc.) He says this is «the best meat EVER.» Check this place out!
