Lovely place with great sushi! Service was also very good. We considered getting one of the boats but decided to pick six rolls instead. My favorite was the spicy tuna cruch — it was rectangle shaped with rice in the bottom a crunchy layer in the middleweight and the tuna on top. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that almost all rolls were sweet, often from eel sauce which my husband and I don’t like. Since the menu didn’t list the eel sauce, we didn’t have fair warning. Would def say no eel sauce next time. The décor is very nice, and it seemed like several of the diners were having a date night.

I want to give a higher rating, but the good was so little. The presentation was beautiful though, great atmosphere, and everyone was nice.

Great I love this place since I was little. I love to go to the hibachi side and get the steak and shrimp, but if you go to the sushi side I get the California roll.

Solid 4.5 stars. Every single thing I tried was delicious! The mango tango and volcano sushi rolls, the honey beef short ribs, the Forbidden City style fried rice, and the Malaysian chicken curry. The honey beef short ribs are the best Korean style short ribs I’ve ever had, hands down. I love the sushi at Amura, it definitely ranks amongst the top of my fav’s so far. They also have a happy hour, which is a great deal!

The food was really good. My favorite was the rainbow sushi. Our waiter, Han, even made me a pink lemonade Arnold Palmer.

I celebrated my birthday here last weekend. Service was awful!!! We did the hibachi and we waited over 45 mins seating down waiting for the guy to come and cook for us… There was«no show» like most Japanese hibachi restaurants do while cooking for your food. It was dead silence! The guy messed up our order 3 times. Never again coming back! It’s a shame because I love Dr Phillips area and the restaurants.

Horrible management. We came here a lot and will NEVER return. The food is just mediocre and when brought to management they have no interest in taking care of any customers. The so called manager is really the owner, but he is to afraid to deal with customers so he uses the excuse he can’t do anything because the owner won’t let him. I’ve been in the restaurant business all my life and will NEVER have another disappointing horrible experience here. Save your money. Don’t come here.

I had such high hopes. The hostess was awesome as was out waitress. We sat at one of the grill tables. We got sushi appetizer. Great. But our chef was horrible. He forgot my meal. He cooked everyone’s and served them. I raised my hand and asked where mine was. He said«oh. I gave it away.» How do you miss someone sitting right in front of you? And we never did get or steamed rice or mushrooms.

Nine years ago, I would’ve given this play 5 stars, and I would’ve said this is my goto place for sushi. But in the past 3 – 4 years. the owners changed, and the ambience has changed. They’ve attempted to cram more tables and chairs vs. when it used to be more spaced out and even had booths to sit in(which in my opinion is more intimate and better place to have dinner). Now it’s pretty difficult to hear the person talking at your table if the place is packed. It seems like they are just trying to making it more of a nightlife/pregame drinking scene for single adults above 28, like the rest of Dr. Phillips Orlando. I guess that is the population to cater to nowadays. I used to hit this place up every 2 weeks or so, but as time progressed, I’ve gone less and less because of these changes. I wish the restaurant would focus more on its food vs. the type of crowd it wants to attract. Now to the food. My palate has evolved over the years, so these are the rolls I would recommend. As child I really like shrimp tempura so what got me hooked to this restaurant is the Bubba roll. Shrimp tempura on the inside topped with avocado and shrimp on top. Then I moved on to the Brainstorm roll(tempura soft shell crab, w/spicy mayo). Now, I wouldn’t even waste my time with those rolls, because there is 1 roll there that is arguably the best sushi roll I’ve ever had in Orlando… the TOKYOROLL. My mouth is kind of watering just thinking about it. It consists of Eel, Tempura Crunch, Avocado, Spicy Orange Sauce. If you try this roll you will be sold on this restaurant. It is the sole reason I come back. The Fire Stone Beef as an appy is really good too, although a bit overpriced, it’s great for a group of 2 – 3 people to get things started. Fried Oysters are good too. My sister goes for the Chilean Sea Bass every time, I would say it’s good if you’re craving it, but I would 100% get the Toyko roll every time. It may be the best roll I’ve ever had. Hibachi/Teppanyaki is alright, food portions are definitely smaller than your average Kobé and more expensive unless you’re going during happy hour(you should go during happy hour). I honestly would prefer to go to Kobé since the portions are larger and the white sauce is better. Mmmm white sauce. lol. But I always kind of hate a place that sells Miso soup over $ 3, and here they sell it for $ 2, which is nice! They have a TV at the bar if you want to watch a game there.

It was ok, not a chopstick novice and the silver one was hard to use. After I saw another patron use a wood version. I asked for it, she said the wood ones are given with carry out, however a customer can request it. The salmon tower was too tall for one bite, it fell apart on me. The salmon tower was too sweet for my taste. However the experience was awesome and fun.

Wife and I are in the Orlando area for our yearly family vacation. Have seen this place before but never tried it. Last night we finally did. I wish we had not avoided it before. We didn’t have to wait for a table, even though there was a good amount of patrons there. We didn’t have to wait long for the food, either, and we ordered a good amount of food, too. The waiter recommended a few choices and was spot on with them. We were full and took the rest if it with us. I would recommend this place to whomever likes Asian style food, and we will be back.

My friend and I were looking for a good sushi restaurant and as I recall he found this one on Unilocal. We have it a shot and were not disappointed. I wouldn’t say it was the best sushi and it was a bit pricey but solid nonetheless. I would recommend checking it out if you are around.

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh and really good. The restaurant has a really great vibe to it. The service was fairly quick. I will definitely come back here the next time I am in Orlando.

I came in right at opening and they were already getting busy. The service was pretty good and the waiter ensured the lunch went smooth. We had the Tuna Tataki which is awesome. Fresh tuna and some sesame oil and few other sauces. Very good and such a delight to eat. We had the Rolls Royce Roll which was so good. We also had the Napoleon roll and Bubba Crunch roll. Both were also very good. The bubba crunch was lettuce wrapped and the lettuce were very fresh and crunchy adding to the excellent taste of the roll. The inside of Amura is really nice and adds to the experience. I have eaten there before and will definitely come back when in the Orlando area again.

I really wanted to like this place, but I knew as soon as I talked to the hostess, I wouldn’t. FOOD(3⁄5): Generally, overpriced for what you got. There are so many options for food on restaurant row. Granted, the fish was cleaned and prepared nicely. A friend and I split the Sand Lake Boat. This was a better deal than their combos, particularly because you seemed to only get 2 pieces of sushi. Someone mentioned that the miso soup was mainly broth. It was. I counted 1 piece of seaweed and no tofu. Seriously? Tofu isn’t expensive. My husband got the steak. He said it was just«okay.» I suppose you can’t really compare a steak at a Japanese place to steak at a steakhouse. SERVICE(3⁄5): Service was slow. I think it depends on who you get. We had two servers, and our server disappeared midway through. Maybe he went on break, but service picked up when our other server was around. I noticed the table next to us wait 15 minutes for someone to greet them and take their drink orders. That’s about the same wait we had. AMBIANCE(3⁄5): I felt like it was a mix of a club and a classy sushi bar… I didn’t quite get the mix. It was crowded on a Friday night, and there was a wait. What really turned me off was that when I arrived there, I was told there was a wait for a table. Then another party arrived, was given a choice between sushi bar, high top, or table, and then seated promptly. There also isn’t a place to wait. The entrance way is crowded, and there isn’t much seating outside. Parking is awful because there are so many stores and restaurants in the plaza. I don’t think they can do anything about it, but just keep this in mind when dining here. I can’t say I’ll be back. There are better sushi places in the area.

I really enjoy going to Amura for their sushi and bento boxes during lunch time, really good price and great quality sushi rolls as my previous review has stated. I do want to add something new here– IFYOUHAVESHELLFISHALLERGY, DONOTGOTO A SUSHIRESTAURANT. I read about someone that had shellfish allergy went to Amura and then got the allergy really bad because restaurant didn’t take care of him. Why would anyone go to a Sushi place if there’s an existing shellfish allergy? Not everyone knows how to handle that type of allergy, so if you go to a sushi restaurant with live action going on behind the counter, who knows which knife cuts what??? This is like having a peanut allergy and going to a Peanut manufacturing facility for snacks. If you really want to have sushi that bad, just go have it home. Unless you’re like at some extremely high end sushi restaurant, might be able to make special request, but honestly don’t be silly and go to a sushi place with your shellfish allergy.

This was an average sushi spot. I wasn’t terribly impressed, but I would probably go back if I was in a pinch for some decent sushi. I ordered the super sushi combo, because I’m on a nigiri kick that apparently will not end(and I’m not about to interrupt because nigiri is crazy good). The fish tasted fine, but I felt like the cuts of fish were too thin. I didn’t get a dense enough bite of nigiri fish like I usually do. I don’t know if that is typical down here or if they were cutting costs… so I was kind of miffed about it. The gyoza appetizer was spot on. Some of the best I’ve had, and let me be clear, I’ve had plenty. It was perfectly cooked with just a slight fried texture on one side. The dipping sauce was good, too. I almost ordered another just for myself… which wouldn’t be the first time. :) The service was pretty good and friendly. No complaints there. The server was very attentive and helpful in getting our children’s food out quickly as to try and tame the beasts. ;)

Really enjoyed the sushi and vibe. Hostess station and service not great– just good enough. Parking will likely be an issue on most nights. Jumbo soft shell crabs are tiny!
