This is one of those places that really kind of makes it difficult to assign a single appropriate rating. You can get fast food sushi like this, or you can spend $ 75+ per person for fancy sushi like at Kappo, or anywhere in between. Clearly fast food sushi can’t compare to Kappo, Kabooki, or Nagoya so you can’t really judge against those standards. Then again, judging them to different standards seems wrong too. If I rate an expensive place four stars, and then I rate a fast food place four stars, can you really trust my opinion at a glance? Eh. Okay, here’s the deal. Sushiology is probably just a little bit closer to 4 stars(but not quite) as an inexpensive, decent fast food sushi restaurant. Rating the sushi compared to better, more expensive restaurants, it wouldn’t fare so well. The staff is friendly here, and the menu is pretty vast. It’s clean and quiet inside, and outdoor seating is available. Pricing seems pretty decent, but your lunch can still get pretty expensive if you’re looking for a couple of specialty rolls(generally $ 8 to $ 9 each), at which point you may as well go to a more traditional sushi restaurant. The chirashi bowl is a pretty good deal for a lunch portion, and that’s what I ordered. $ 8.50 for a bowl of sushi rice topped with the following sashimi: 1x butterflied shrimp, 2x pieces of krab stick, 2x pieces of salmon, 2x pieces of tuna, and 2x pieces of hamachi. There’s a sense, one that I can’t adequately verbalize because I don’t write about food for a living, that the fish isn’t of quite the same quality as what you would get at a higher end restaurant(though admittedly, chirashi generally runs $ 16 to $ 21 at those places). It’s similar to what you might get at U Roll in quality, but fresher tasting and more palatable than what I had at Sus Hi. So my suggestion, for what it’s worth(probably not much) is to skip the rolls at that price and stick with the chirashi(or one of the other bowls). I think those are the meals that present the best bang for the buck.

This place is what fast food sushi is supposed to be like, but without the cheap cost of it. The atmosphere isn’t great. When you sit down for sushi, you’ll feel like you’re in a hamburger joint instead of a sushi restaurant. The quality of the food is ok though. Some of it is authentic and some of it is far from it. The most disappointing thing for me was that they didn’t give you a lot of quantity. They were not fast to prepare the food either. I’d rate their quality 3 stars and their quantity 2 stars. With the combination of the atmosphere, prices, preparation time, and quality, it falls short of impressive and was moderately disappointing.

Sushiology bills themselves as «Fast Food Sushi», and aside from the counter service style, I’m really not sure why. The interior feels a little fast-foody, but it works for the concept. Service was patient and friendly, prices and portions were reasonable, and more importantly, the quality was solid. We ordered a couple of rolls as well as some sashimi and everything exceeded our expectations. To be fair, much of that may have stemmed from us setting our expectations a bit low due to their advertised«fast food sushi» concept. Despite the billing, food took a short while to come out — about as much as I would have expected in any sushi restaurant. All in all, you get some good food at a good price at Sushiology — but the price and time spent comes out to pretty much the same as any normal sit-down restaurant. You’re not really saving any time or money by coming here. Still, it makes for a decent lunch spot where you don’t have to wait around for the wait staff.

Wow this place is absolutely horrible! I truly do not know how they manage to stay in business. Maybe by people like me who just drive by and want to try it. First when you go in the staff is very unpleasant; the first face I saw was a young lady who looked like she did not want to be working there which made our ordering just a little bit(exaggeration… In reality it was a lot a bit) awkward. I felt like I was bothering her by ordering. Also the second thing I noticed were all these paper signs everywhere saying don’t do this and don’t do that and we charge extra for this, I felt like a walked into a room of negativity! The food came out I got a futomaki roll which was ok and a spider roll which was ok as well. My friends got the gyu don, tuna tataki, tofu, spicy spinach and volcano roll. Let me start with the gyudon it was a meat and rice dish that had maybe seven very thin small pieces of meat and a ton of onion on top of a lot of rice. She wanted to eat meat n rice but pretty much ended up just eating onion n rice. I get they want to cut down on cost but this is a bit much. Everything else was all downhill. Wow talk about crappy food in a crappy restaurant with unpleasant cashier staff it’s just a recipe for disaster. Oh BTW we also ordered two miso soups that took forever to come out even though the pot with the miso soup in it was sitting right next to the girl at the register. I highly DONOT recommend this place to anyone. You will waste your money and come out covered in negative vibes. Avoid at all cost!

Finally! A GOOD sushi spot in the Waterford area! My husband and I have tried a few sushi places around and always ended up super disappointed. Sushiology is most definitely the best in the area! The staff is friendly and the food is delicious and fresh. We are two very happy customers!

Want sushi on the go, looking for a quick bite? Then this place is great to satisfy your craving. It’s not your typical fancy sushi joint. The atmosphere is really relaxed. You order, pay and wait at your table for your order to be called. They are fairly quick.

My mom and i wandered into sushiology to get some sushi. It was my mom’s first time having sushi and it’s not a meal I personally have very often. Upon entering, and employee(he seemed like the manager) was happy to give us information about the most popular rolls and he was very helpful. We ended up ordering the kamakazi(sp) roll and the California roll. We waited for our food for roughly 3 – 4 minutes(very quick) and it was ready! I was very pleased with the service. All of the employees were friendly and helpful and rolls are as low as $ 5! I will definitely be back!

Nice place. Chill atmosphere, clean environment, good customer service, but the food was okay. I got the miso soup and it was not that bad. I wish I had more tofu. However, I did like the tropical roll and I did like to see that they have many other vegetarian options. I also did not like that they charge extra for sauces

I decided to stop in Sushiology to pick up some take-out sushi to serve with the dinner I was making that night. It was a Monday, and I didn’t realize when I first went in, but on Mondays they close at 5, and I had walked in just a few minutes before closing. An employee came to the register as soon as we came in to take my order. I ordered the 6 piece sashimi and a California roll. The total was about $ 12.50(tax is included in the posted prices). There was one order ahead of mine so I took a seat and waited(there was nobody dining in the small dining area while I was there). After a few minutes I was called over to pick up my order. At first glance after I left I thought the roll in particular looked small. It was 8 pieces, but a bit smaller than I’m used to. The sashimi also was the proper number of pieces, but just seemed little. So, I don’t feel like it was a very good value. Honestly, for just that kind of basic sushi I’ve had better from Target. I am glad I tried Sushiology, but I’m not sure I would go again. The employees were very nice but I was really underwhelmed. There are better places in the area for sushi.

Sushiology is pretty good if you’re in the mood for some quick and simple sushi. I like to get the Chirashi bowl or the sushi/sashimi platters. I also really like their green tea. They don’t have the bento box option for dinner, only dinner. The quality is decent but in the Chirashi bowl they could provide more fish for the price. They have a couple tables outside. If you get the chance sit outside. The couple times we sat indoors we left smelling like Asian food and it stuck around for awhile.

Small cute sushi spot with decent variety in the menu. The orange paint on the alls is a little overpowering, but maybe they thought it would be energizing. Personally I think there’s too much cream cheese on the menu, but they were happy to make changes as requested. They have beer and sake available for purchase as well as the expected sodas. Free refills while you’re in the restaurant.

The restaurant is small with fairly simple décor. The menu is not very extensive but is decent enough. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and the shrimp teriyaki was OK. The teriyaki is served over rice(I prefer noodles). Overall not bad.

For a cheap and quick sushi dinner or lunch, Sushiology is the place to go, but if you’re looking for quality blow your mind sushi you should venture else where. It falls in the«it’s good but not great» category. I came with my two sisters while we were out finalizing some Christmas shopping in the Waterford area. Upon entering, it was sadly very empty inside, not too sure about the location for the place because it’s behind Waterford so I assume not too much foot traffic out there. The worker there was nice and polite. I ordered the Shake Don or Salmon bowl. Nothing mind blowing; it literally was just slices of salmon over sushi rice. I guess I was expecting something similar to Bento Box where it comes with avocado, cucumber, and masago. My sister ordered the chicken teriyaki don and my other sister ordered the Gyu Don, both were again good not great. Overall, I’m glad I tried it but chances are I won’t be going back.

Alright alright, I might have been overjoyed during my last review for Sushiology. I think I was high on the fact that they recently opened one in East Orlando. I will re-evaluate my rating to a 3.5 as of today, just a more truer rating. I still like what Sushiology stands for which is giving their customers fast, cheap prices and variety of japanese food. Again, I can’t say the raw fish is superb and best out there. It is probably better than your local publix but less than the sushi sit down restaurant. My favorites things are Salmon Skin Handroll(salmon skin is most of the time crispy, would not suggest to get it togo cause it’ll get soggy) and agedashi tofu(a lot less messy than making it at home). One thing i use to get all the time but don’t like any more is the Kamakazi roll(spicy tuna), because the tuna is just not that great here. One thing I appreciate that I gotta mention is that this place has half size portions and I love it! Its great for people that wants a snack or has a small appetite. It makes it real affordable to get a quick japanese meal, even cheaper than making it your self.

Sushiology is a superb quick service sushi spot. Now open close enough to home to boost my sushi intake even more! Offering high quality sushi at a solid price in a relaxed atmosphere on the outskirts of Waterford Lakes shopping center. Don’t come in expecting waiters, hot towels, saunas, pony rides, this is just delicious and inexpensive sushi. These sushi ninjas will welcome you with a huge smile and crank out your order in a speedy fashion. They offer a variety of different rolls, basic rolls such as California are available in half portions. The rolls are always tight and well crafted annnndddd delicious! Some of my favorites are Kamikaze, Tuna California, and Shrimp Tempura. But I haven’t had a roll I wasn’t a fan of yet. Rolls range from $ 4 – 8.50, half rolls as low as $ 2.25. Their nigiri slices are good portions of fish and only run about $ 1.25 per. They also offer large combo platters ranging from $ 22 – 50 that include various rolls and nigiri slices They also offer some killer appetizers like Wasabi shumai, slightly fatty pork dumplings nicely spiced with wasabi, always delicious. Both the tofu steak and spicy tofu are crazy good, full of flavor and perfectly firm. Not in the mood for sushi? Check out their Donburi selection. They’re generous portions of sticky rice and protien bowls with options of teriyaki chicken, Chirashi(various nigiri slices of fish, crab, and shrimp), fried fish, etc. Still hungry after your sushi feast? GETDESSERT. The banana tempure and fried cheesecake are both ridiculously delicious and big enough to share.

Quick service Japanese food is finally on the East side of Orlando! The first store opened on I-drive. Average price per dish is around $ 5. All their prices include tax already. I always get the Agedashi Tofu($ 3) which has 4 pieces of lightly fried tofu in a bowl of tentsuyu broth with scallions atop. The food is very decent especially for the prices. They also offer half portions of sushi rolls for those who have smaller appetites or want to try a bunch of different rolls without letting the sushi go to waste. There is great value eating here. You must get your food at the counter when it’s ready and when you’re finished, you must clean up after yourself.
