TJ’s Seafood Shack

When I can’t get to Boston Fish House for a lobster roll, this place is a great substitute. Theirs is just as fresh and yummy but slightly smaller however it does cost less so it’s a even trade-​off. I’ve also tried their fish and shrimp tacos and they are also good but it’s the lobster roll that will keep me coming back. I only tried their tacos because the lobster roll wasn’t on their food truck. I’m lucky enough that their food truck comes to my job sometimes for special events but when they’re not there, their brick and mortar shack is only a mile away.

It was our last min choice. I was in the mood for seafood and Unilocal brought us here. I must say we were not disappointed at all. Fried pickles were delicious and fish tacos OMG. Left there stuffed and satisfied. We came here during the day so staff wasn’t fully stacked but service was still adequate. Y’all can best believe next time we are on east side of town we will be stopping by tj’s.

My husband and I wanted to have seafood for lunch on our 12 year wedding anniversary and I looked up places on my phone and found this place with great reviews!!! We had the Smoked mahi mahi fish dip, fisherman’s catch and the Lobster roll and crab cake combo. We split everything and I have NEVER said everything on my plate was completely good, but I can honestly say that there is not one thing I can complain about, from the food & price, the atmosphere, to the service and employees that work here. Not to mention it is a family owned business and all the food is made FRESH!

A couple of years ago we tried the Oviedo location and were pleasantly surprised. I was told they had a killer lobster roll and they did not disappoint ! We were heading to Amy schumer at ucf arena and thought this might be a great place to try before the show ! Love the fact that they have kona big wave on tap and many other delicious beers ! You order up at counter and then you can keep tab open if you are going to drink more beers ! We shared the two lobster rolls which were perfectly seasoned not too much mayo actually perfect amount and lots of lobster! We would have loved a little more celery. The bun was lightly toasted and lightly buttered ! Oh so good ! The gator was perfectly fried tender and was served with a yummy spicy dipping sauce ! The sweet potato fries tasted like they were fresh cut and were served with a tangy honey mustard ! I’m not a big hush puppy fan but these nuggets were delicious ! Lightly fried and slightly sweet! New go to seafood place ! One of he owners was walking around getting all of the tables and he seems very kind and genuine ! Wish it were a bit closer but will be worth the drive !!

Quite a surprise! I had the salmon tacos and they were delicious and satisfying. A casual environment with friendly and very helpful staff.

Had early dinner around 3:30. Paermesean crusted tilapia wonderful, fries bland and not noteworthy, hush puppies not tried, tartar sauce out of this world. Serves beer and wine only. Present road construction makes navigation a challenge. Two entrées and 3 beers total cost $ 25.

Went in to try the lobster rolls. Food came out after about 15 mins and it was hot and fresh. Food tasted great and the price was reasonable. The cashier was polite during our 2 minute interaction which was nice. My only complaint would be to add more lobster salad to the rolls. Aside from that I’ll make sure to pay another visit.

Nice little casual seafood place. The restaurant is clean, the service is friendly and quick. We went for lunch; we ordered, paid, and ate within 25 minutes. I ordered the fried haddock and hush puppies, the food was really good and well seasoned. I would definitely come back.

We are here in Orlando with my 90 year old dad and my 3 year old grand daughter! The only request from my dad was to go to a good place with fresh flavorful oysters… and TJ’s is way better than any other place we had before!

Came in town for a conference. Found TJ’s on Unilocal.The fried gator bites, catfish and okra is awesome. The staff is freindly. The place is a hidden gem. A must visit for locals and tourist.

The oysters here are absolutely delicious! Fresh and full of flavor. Everything wasn’t too expensive and they had a great happy hour. Definitely will be back for the bucket!

Ok I been askingYelp for help finding good Oysters and the great advice I been giving was great but expensive. So I stumbled into TJ’s with my daughter and we grabbed two menus, and began to look over the menu. I ordered a dozen Oysters for only 13 dollars, shrimp Po Boy with black beans and rice and my little one ordered corn dogs. We we grabbed our number and waited for the food to arrive and it all looked great. I took some photos to show you all hope you enjoy them. The oysters were pretty good, no sand, grit or anything smooth as can be. I was told they came from Texas and we’re just flown In. My shrimp Po boy was mediocre there was to much bun to shrimp ratio it definitely could of used a few more shrimps. The black beans and rice were mediocre to, they were over cooked. The beer was cold and my daughter was happy with her corn dogs. The best part of the meal was the oysters and the smile on my face when I left. Please get the bucket of oysters its definitely worth the 25 bucks! Thank you!

Wish my experience was as good as others have posted. Ordered two haddock platters to go for lunch during the week. One was to be blackened, the other grilled. Was told they would be ready in 10 minutes. Showed up in 5 minutes so I could pay and be on my way as soon as the food was ready. There was no sign for to-​go orders and there were about ten people waiting in line to order. I went to the bar to see if I could pay there. Was ignored for 5 minutes so I got in the ordering line so I did not end up any further back. Only one register so it took about 10 minutes to get up to the register. Was told the order would be a couple more minutes. Paid, then waited by the bar again. Food finally showed up 25 minutes after it was ordered. I don’t mind that it took 25 minutes, but don’t tell me it will be ready in 10. Took the food and left. Found both platters were blackened. The taste was OK but that is about it. I don’t plan to return any time soon after this poor experience.

I don’t know if the reviews below are paid reviews, because this place was horrible. First thing, this was my first time there. I walked in and it was semi dead. I went to the front and stood by the register. Finally five minutes later a guy came out. He was the only one working the front. Apparently you order at the register and they bring the food to the table. OK next the food… Fish tacos were bad. Three shrimp in each? Wth? the drenched chilli sauce helped me eat it. Rice disgusting. My sons tilapia sandwich was actually good. Two meals and a keylime pie for $ 20.17. Pie was good. Honestly I could’ve gotten the same food or better at taco bell. Wish I never came here. Don’t recommend. If you want to be ignored and over pay for crap food come to tj’s. Two stars for fish sandwich and keylime.

Oysters, haddock, lobster po-​boys, blackened or fried fish, many taco offerings from shrimp, tilapia to salmon. Plus a fabulous smoked fish dip appetizer.

I loved the variety and the preparation. For example, I ordered the salmon tacos which the owner TJ recommended. If you’ve never had bacon topped salmon tacos, take my word for it, it’s a great change from ordinary fish tacos.
Top it all off with welcoming, friendly staff and owner. A comfy place.

Wanted to give it 3.5 but not allowed to. Had the crab cake which was delicious! The lobster roll, not so much. Wish it would have stated artificial lobster meat in the description. The hush puppies were awesome along with the coleslaw. Not sure why people lile the rice and beans because they lacked flavor to me. My mom opted for fried oysters and fried fish platter with fries and she was happy with her choices. Good happy hour prices on draft beer. I’ll try them again on taco Tuesday or $ 1 beer Thursdays.

I’ve been wanting to check out TJ seafood for awhile and glad I got the chance today! The set up reminds me of Tijuana Flats where you walk in, order and the counter, and they being the food out to you. It’s a very casual atmosphere with happy hour specials and an oyster bar. Today my bf and I tried a couple things.
Clam Chowder: Creamy and lots of oysters and potatoes! Good flavor and not too salty.
Shrimp Tacos: Get them blackened! You can choose how you want them — grilled, blacked or fried. Very good, filling and comes with a choice of side. I chose fruit and it was pineapple and grapes with a hint of cinnamon sprinkled on top which turned out to be a good addition.
On dish we didn’t like as much was the Ahi Tuna. It tasted like a frozen fish that was seared. It was ok, but not the best. Probably wouldn’t get it again.
Everything else was great and look forward to trying other menu items next time!
