Best. Phở. Ever. Seriously. I recently switched to vegetarianism when I moved down to Orlando, and the restaurants down here have made eating out extremely easy. I always see Veggie Garden on the way home from school, so one day my girlfriend and I decided to eat here before we went to go see a movie. The place is laid back. The servers are some very nice Asian people. Seriously sweet people. The menu has a lot of great choices, and I got something my server said people really liked: Royal Hue soup. And we also got some of the fresh summer rolls. The summer rolls came out with a peanut sauce, and both were super tasty. The summer rolls had a nice big slab of tofu in it. Yummy. After our appetizer, the royal hue soup came out. So good! The soup had fake meat in it(ham slices and beef balls), and they were just like the real thing. It was ridiculous how similar the ham slices tasted with an Asian meat I have had before. And the broth was so tasty! I would’ve never guessed the broth was vegan! The soup was huge, but I was hungry, and I managed to finish it all. The crazy thing is that everything came out to a fantastic price even though we had gotten 2 phos and summer rolls. For anyone trying to get great vegan food while not trying to break the bank, this is seriously the place. I cannot recommend it enough. On a side note, one day we went out on colonial to this place to eat some dinner, but it was closed. My girlfriend and I were heart broken. We still wanted phở, so we went to Phở 88. Not the best decision. I actually liked my meal which was a noodle stir fry like fish, that was pretty tasty. But my girlfriend got the vegetarian phở, and it’s broth was just like water. It was very underwhelming after having had this place’s phở. So if you’re vegetarian or vegan definitely go here instead of phở 88 which seems way more popular(definitely not as deserving though).

Had the spring rolls and tofu Veggie Phở which were both delicious. Only wish they would offer complementary iced water…

There was a friendly family manning the counters when I came in. They were so sweet, I was hoping to really love the food, but unfortunately both dishes I tried fell flat. The com tam came with a lot of fixings, but cooked ingredients were a bit dry and the fresh veggies looked limp, and well, not very fresh. Maybe the business was slow that day and these ingredients have been waiting around since morning. The Hu Tieu was quite good, but the flavor of the broth weren’t up to par. That said, I did have a satisfying meal and will bump my review up to four stars because the prices are quite decent($ 7 and under) for such hearty, decent vegetarian dishes. If you’re looking for vegetarian Vietnamese food, I do really recommend you stop in this place instead of opting for the vegetarian versions at the regular Vietnamese restaurants. They also offered snacks and food you can buy from the counter to go. There were various tofu dishes and vegetarian versions of Vietnamese classics like ca kho(caramelized«fish»), so you can pick up a container of these for $ 5 to bring home and eat with home cooked white rice for an easy, convenient dinner. My grandma bought a couple of containers and she was satisfied with it at home. Overall, I’m grateful for a joint like this. It makes the lives of older, vegetarian, Vietnamese people like my grandma a lot easier. P. S., note to the restaurant owners: please clean your cups more thoroughly. My mom admitted to me when we left the store that her water cup smelled like milk(I’m assuming soymilk, which as one of the specials was homemade soymilk).

I eat here every time I’m craving vegetarian Vietnamese food! The food is pretty good and the owners are sweet. I always order #14 and it never disappoints me :)

Yes! Great food for dining in or quickly taking out. They have a counter for deli style prepared food. A must for someone who loves Vietnamese but wants to skip the meat.

The neighborhood wasn’t great and we had to park about a block away behind the shopping center and my dad was super worried, but everything worked out. The place is small and nondescript, not really a dine in place, but we dined in anyway. The guy behind the counter who served us was really nice, made recommendations, and answered all of our questions, despite things seeming a bit odd(he had a black eye for some reason, hopefully just a freak accident and not a worse alternative). We both ordered phở and it was absolutely delicious. As a pescetarian(and fully vegetarian at the time) it is hard for me to find vegetarian phở, and this was on point. The broth was amazing(and homemade, the guy told us all about how they make it fresh every morning) and the veggies were crisp and fresh. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in the area.

Place was delicious! First time and would DEFINITELY come back again! Can’t rave about it enough. Had the Spring Rolls,… to die for! Staff was friendly. Food was fresh and the service was fast. Went for lunch and was well within an hour. A little tricky to find though because you have to park in the back and there’s only a small sign saying veggie garden so it’s easy to drive right past it. But well worth the hassle. Would definitely recommend!

Consistently great food! Customer service is a bit bland, but we kind of like being left alone… Love the Mandarin faux Chikun and the faux pork in Canton sauce. All vegan!

We stumbled upon this place as it was next door to the banh mi place we ate at. I was like, vegetarian Vietnamese! want to try! but there was no way we could find stomach space to try their food. I did manage to drag my hubby in so I could at least get some take out. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly. They have many take-out snacks and stuff to try, including soups and desserts. I got my favorite, the vegetarian cha siu(roast pork) and cha lua(pork roll in bamboo leaves), and they are both nicely done. The cha lua tastes more home-made and soy flavored, compared to the frozen ones I may find at grocery stores, which is nice. While a sizeable Vietnamese population is Buddhist, and similar to Chinese Buddhism vegetarianism is encouraged, many Vietnamese restaurants here are not that veg-friendly. So I’m glad this place exists, it gives diversity for people who prefer to eat less meat. Will definitely try to sit in for a meal there next time I visit the area.

Tucked away in a plaza in Vietnam Town near Mills and 50, is the place for which I’ve been searching for years. I’ve always been a fan of Asian food – since childhood – much preferring it to all of the pasta I was forced to consume during my Italian upbringing. Vietnamese, however, has always been my favorite. Now, I could stand here and tell you I’ve tried every Vietnamese place in Orlando, in and that wouldn’t be true, though I’ve tried several. Most dishes that claim to be vegetarian are made with fish sauce or are too busy racking up health code violations. But, it wasn’t until I discovered Thuyen Vien that I really fell in love with Vietnamese cuisine. Something I constantly crave – ask anyone who knows me – are summer rolls with peanut sauce. I’ve even made my own at home. And the summer rolls and peanut sauce at this place? Delicious! Let me back up. Once you find this place with its windows painted with happy monks, you might wonder if it’s the right spot. After all, there are only four tables in the whole place. However, behind the counter you will see the happiest smiling faces – Veggie Garden is run by Buddhist Monks. Proceeds go back directly to their temple. Another bonus for this vegan girl? This place is all vegetarian. That’s right. No meat. Now, before you omnivores decide against this place, let me assure you, even YOU will love this place. My whole adult life, I’ve wanted to try phở, but because it is traditionally made with chicken or beef broth and ga-loaded with meat, I never could. The traditional style phở(#1) at Thuyen Vien is everything I’d hoped phở would be. It’s made with a vegetable broth, loaded with vegetables, and ham and beef. Oh, it’s not real ham and beef, mind you, but I guarantee, you won’t care. Another great dish, Bun Cha Gio, is my husband’s favorite. It combines rice vermicelli, tons of veggies, and crispy spring rolls, with a «fish sauce» on the side. One of the best aspects of eating at Veggie Garden? The price. Entrees are around $ 7! If you love delicious food and walking away from a meal feeling nourished rather than grotesquely heavy(you know, the shame that accompanies over-fullness), and if you like the idea of knowing the food lovingly served to you is going toward a good cause, get in your car and head to Veggie Garden.

I’ve came here a few times to eat in and enjoyed their food booths at local festivals/farmers market. I’ve had the summer rolls, phở, tofu buns, drumsticks and rice. For Vietnamese cuisine and vegetarian cuisine it’s a great place to grab a bite to eat. Some of the menu items I used to like over the last couple years do not seem to be on the menu, not sure why. I can’t say any food at this restaurant really stands out, if I am craving phở or craving Asian food and I’m in the area I’ll come down to Veggie Garden — but I’m missing some menu items such as the hot crescent buns and pastries that they used to serve but are not on the menu any longer. This place has been a local favorite for vegetarian food, feel free to try their food if you’re looking for phở or Vietnamese cuisine.

This has been a favorite of our, on every trip we make to Orlando, and have always given it 5 stars because of the humbleness and friendliness of the staff and of course the tasty and numerous options for Vegan Phở. But on this visit, I was truly disappointed and instead of visiting every morning during our trip, we only went once, and I’d really have to consider if we will return in the future. We got there at 9:15 am(It opens at 9 am) and we waited patiently out front while the owner was inside prepping food(it has all glass windows, so we could see him there), we waited another 20 minutes hopping he would at least open the doors, so we could sit down, and wait at least. He didn’t, so we called the number to ask what time they were opening. Well this apparently pissed off the owner gentleman, as he swung the door wildly open at us and our cheery hellos were met with an icy stare and grumbling under his breath, which was followed by slapping down of the menus. His mood never improved and were left sitting there in disbelief, at our rude treatment, especially since the kindly manor of this place has always been one of the main reasons we choose to spent our money here. Hopefully you’ll catch him on a good mood day, when you visit.

Well what a find! For $ 11.72 I got summer rolls with veggies and tofu and phở with veggies and tofu. I’ve never actually had phở so this was different for me but it was delicious! I’m really picky with meat(and also only eat poultry and fish) so I struggle a bit with most of the authentic places around here just because of the meat choices they offer. Veggie Garden was a great solution! I was excited to try the peanut sauce since someone said it was the best they had in Orlando… I was unfortunately disappointed because it had no peanut taste at all. I sort of enjoyed it but wish it was more peanutty. The broth in the phở was delicious and the veggies were cooked perfectly and were fresh. I was surprised that the tofu in both the items I ordered was fried. This was a tiny problem for me because I was hoping for a healthy option for lunch but it was just a thin layer of crispy so it was ok in the long run and this is apparently the typical means of cooking tofu for phở — but being my first time, I didn’t know that. The restaurant was clean and the employees friendly. I will definitely be back!

I am not vegan but a number of my friends are so it is great to have so many Orlando dining options we can both enjoy, Veggie Garden being one of them. It is a small location with limited seating since it appears most opt to do takeout. From what I could see, the place was immaculately clean. There are a number of selections and the prices are cheap! For about $ 8.50 I had a big ol’ Shredded Noodles and Crispy Fried Springrolls bowl(#17) and a bottle of water. The noodle bowl was filling but not heavy and super tasty with fresh veggies. The proprietress was kind and attentive. It’s in an interesting little area so you can walk around and check out the Vietnamese shops and Sam Flax is right nearby too, if you are like me and like to spend money on art supplies. I plan to go back and try the Phở. I regret not getting it so I could try that broth!

I came here one afternoon for lunch with a couple of friends. I had the number 10 which is phở that comes with veggies and various soy«meat». The broth alone was out of this world! Their menu declares that they have the«best homemade vegetable soup broth in town» and they definitely live up to that claim. The dish as a whole was very delicious and satisfying and far exceeded my expectations of what I imagined vegan phở to taste like. This place will definitely get a repeat visit from me the next time I am in Orlando.

I stopped in for a quick bite and was not disappointed. They served bean sprouts and fresh mint on the side of the tofu and vegetable dish. It’s sort of like a noodle. soup. Only $ 7 for a huge bowl.

Functional place. I walked in on a Sunday night and there were no other customers. I hesitated. But I decided to give them a shot. The tiny place smelt of table cleaners. A menu card was presented. When asked what I wanted to drink, I said water and the owner/server reached inside the fridge and gave me bottled water. I ordered the #11. The owner/server nodded and retreated. On second thoughts I decided to have the summer rolls too. I intimated my desire to the server/wife of the owner/server. She bowed and retreated into the kitchen, leaving me with my thoughts. I reached for my book, found the page where I had left it and opened it when my summer rolls came out. I inspected them, picked one juicy one up, and took a bite of it when my #11 came out. I gave him a thumbs up, and proceeded to munch through my appetizer, which, I must add was delectable. Clearing the two rolls out my way, I attacked the giant bowl of phö. There were chopsticks and a suicidal little soup spoon that insisted on drowning itself into the phở every few minutes. The rice noodles were delicious, and after randomly adding all the condiments on the table I was extremely pleased with my Vietnamese gumbo. The faux meat was a perfect contrast to the noodles and sprouts. I returned the bottled water, paid my bill and rolled out of the store, content.

Great vegan options! I really enjoyed my phở, even though I didn’t get the kind I ordered. I’d been looking forward to trying the meatballs everyone mentioned, but… I just got tofu. Not sure if the language barrier caused that, but I did try to order by number. Oh, well. Definitely authentic and worth the trip. Just remember this is a no frills place, and if you’re looking for a fancy meal, this ain’t the place.
