Drove about 45 minutes to get to this sandwich shop because of the good reviews here on Unilocal.I’m glad I did! I’ve never had a Banh Mi before and was really looking forward to it. The hardest part was locating the shop itself and finding a place to park. The main street is busy and there’s not much parking, so you might want to drive around the block to the back where there’s a smallish parking lot. [Plus, you’ll feel like you’re taking your life in your hands trying to get out of your car in this block on E. Colonial! ] Now, there are several shops/restaurants that use this and an adjoining parking lot, so it’s a bit confusing, but believe me, it’s worth the trouble. A man was walking toward another restaurant and I asked him for help. It’s simple when you know where you’re headed! There are a couple of picnic tables — pass those and go into a tiny courtyard — the shop is on the left. The lady was mopping and gestured for me to have a seat(she’s such a sweetheart!). I looked over the menu(which is posted) and decided on 2 sandwiches(one was pork and the other the vegetarian). Got them both toasted. — Her husband quickly fixed them and off I ran back to my car where my daughter and our little Chihuahua-mix dog(Joey) were waiting. My daughter wasn’t really hungry(yay!) so I had some of hers(the pork) and gobbled down all of mine. Now, the sandwiches are on delicious rolls and have these slightly pickled, crunchy vegetables and lots of fresh cilantro. Oh My Goodness! My favorite was the vegetarian — it had perfectly grilled tofu — tender and scrumptious! — I kept snatching the extra cilantro from my daughter’s sandwich — it was SO good! The pork sandwich(I can’t remember which pork sandwich I ordered) was also delicious — the pork was very tender. My only problem was that since Joey was looking extremely interested in the pork I threatened that I’d drop him off at the nearest shelter if he even looked like he was going to filch a bite! [Don’t worry — that’d never happen. Even Joey knows that.] As far as sandwich size goes, one was the perfect size for me. I’m sure a man would want 2 or 3. But you need to order a few extras so you’ll have some to snack on later, because you don’t want to drive a long way and have nothing but a fond memory and then have to turn right around and drive back!

Best Vietnamese sandwiches I’ve ever had. I’ve been to Philly, VA and NY. The bread is outstanding. I can’t give it a perfect score because I hate the hole in the wall atmosphere. I don’t mind it being a hole in the wall but, there’s something about this place. I can’t explain.

The ambiance is odd. So, if you expect to go somewhere to sit and eat, don’t get your hopes up. It’s a small storefront shop with a small table with lawn chairs. I heard so much positive things about the sandwiches that I didn’t let that detour me. Flavor combinations of the sandwiches are indescribably good. Great authentic Asian flavors. Only thing I had wished was for the warm sandwich I ordered to be warmer(it was a little cold I think because of the veggies added). At any rate, worth trying for sure. But like I said before, think street food, not dine-in restaurant.

Inexpensive, delicious, fast and friendly service. What more do you need to know? If you’ve never had a vietnamese sandwich(Banh mi) then you my friend are MISSINGOUT! And it is my job as a fellow Banh mi lover to tell you the path you seek towards all things delicious will be found in a Banh mi. Nha Trang is the sweetest person ever! If you do not speak vietnamese, do not be scared … just point at her menu the sandwich you want and she will smile and say okay! I’ve tried almost 7 different kinds and they’re ALLGOOD.(Sorry, I am literally no help in the department of recommendations) But, for safety you should try the 1st one on her menu called«Banh Mi Dac Biet»(most traditional and common one in vietnammm) NOTES: –If you do not eat meat, she has a delicious Vegetarian sub as well :)!!! –Every sub I have ordered from her always has her sweet/spicy homemade chilli sauce already inside, if you cannot eat spice make sure to ask her to leave it out of your sub!!! –To enjoy the authentic Banh mi experience, you have to eat yours TOASTED!!! –Canned drinks are offered as well as Vietnamese Iced Coffee –Pretty limited seating, not recommended for big party dine ins. –Bring cash, last time I went she only accepts cash.

I finally got the opportunity to try this little sub shop! It was hard to find, I had to use one of the pictures on Unilocal,so I could match the front of the store! It’s definitely a dive-y sandwich shop, but those are the most legit ones, right? It’s run down inside, and an older Vietnamese couple were working. They were very sweet and tried to understand English speaking customers as much as possible. Interestingly enough, there were more Americans than Vietnamese people during the lunch rush. I don’t think this is a place to ask what does pork loaf mean or what sort of veggies are in the sub, I think that’ll just lead to exasperation for both parties. Just order what sounds the best, and enjoy it! Banh mi typically has pickled carrots, pickled radish, cilantro, and cucumber and mayo FYI plus different meat offerings. The sandwiches are a little smaller than other places I’ve been to, and $ 4 is on the higher side(but c’mon, it’s still only $ 4!), but I will definitely be coming back here for my banh mis! The bread was toasted but still soft and very fragrant. There was a good slathering of mayo and good proportion of meat to veggies. I ordered the #1, which has a mixture of cold cuts and pâté(most traditional banh mi) and #6, which was grilled pork(which is actually char siu). I found the #1 had some spiciness compared to the #6, but both were fantastic. I’m already looking forward to the next time I come here. It’s in a peculiar plaza, and to use plaza bathroom, you have to ask for a key. It looks dingy on the outside, but the women’s bathroom was surprisingly clean!

This place is a mom and pop place and hole-in-the-wall all in one! Two of my favorite things combined. You know you always get the best food at the mom and pop places and the hole-in-the-wall places and this place is both of those things so you know you’ll be in for a real treat. After eating nothing but American food for 4 days straight during my visit to Orlando, I had a serious craving for Vietnamese food and stumbled upon this place thanks to Unilocal!DROVEANHOURTOGETHERE(thanks, Orlando traffic!!) Worth it though. The owners are super nice and friendly. I really enjoyed talking to them(in Vietnamese) while waiting for my order. They also told me if the banh mi was not good they would refund me, haha. It’s $ 3.50 for an untoasted sandwich and $ 4 if you want it toasted. The owner makes the bread fresh everyday. The bread is unlike any other! All the sandwiches I tried(#1 dac biet, #6 thit heo nuong, and #21 ga uop chao) were tasty! I arrived just when they opened and the owner had just finished cooking the marinated chicken for the #21 — yummy and fresh! I WILLBEBACKIF I EVERVISITORLANDOAGAIN!

I was visiting Orlando and had a huge craving for banh mi so of course I turned to Unilocal.I found this place and decided to stop by. When I got to this place I noticed it was in kind of in a sketchy neighborhood and was pretty deserted for a weekend lunch. Inside the place, there was one lady working. The place was dirty, kind of smelly, and not very inviting. Of course, being Vietnamese and a frequent patron of hole in the wall Vietnamese eateries, I know not to expect much regarding atmosphere and service. Going on to the actual sandwich, I got the dac biet. The cold cuts were nothing to write home about. The pickled veggies were not very fresh. However, the actual bread was toasted nicely and buttery. The aioli was also very good. The sandwich itself was also pretty small and was not worth the $ 4. I’m used to eating phenomenal Vietnamese sandwiches in California, so this place is in no way on my list of top banh mi places, but it did serve its purpose of getting rid of my craving.

I was told by my brother in law that the sandwiches here are the best. He was not lying. It is in a small shopping strip and the place is tiny. You order everything by number because they hardly speak English and it is hard to communicate otherwise. I ordered #5(grilled pork patty) and it was delicious. I will stop by every time I’m in Orlando.

Nha Trang has the best banh mi in Orlando. I go at least once every couple weeks and always order«one #1». Yes, the price is now $ 4(for toasted) but that just brings it in line with everywhere else in the area. You’re getting a delicious and filling sandwich for $ 4. Where else are you going to find that value? While it’s usually not hard to find parking out front on Colonial, there’s also a small parking lot in the back for the strip mall.

Overall: a hard to find spot in a very small strip mall. I found it on Unilocal and i’m glad I did. The Banh Mi’s were the best I’ve had. Even though the women behind the counter didn’t really speak English, she was very nice and cordial. With the assistance from another customer who spoke Vietnamese(I think), he was able to help me choose their house special. I ordered two sandwiches: house special and Vietnamese meatball. Both delectable in their own rights, and no jalapeño peppers! The bread was the right crunch and the meat and toppings were fresh. The man behind the counter gave us the food and told us to pay after we finished eating. The establishment is quite small and the inside isn’t much to look at, but the simplicity of the décor pairs well with the simple and mouthwatering sandwiches. Note: only one table that can seat about 6 or so, so you should probably order out if it’s around meal time.

Every time I go to Orlando I make sure I make a trip to my favorite Banh mi spot in Florida so I can bring some of these delicious sandwiches back home. Over the years they have improved their menu by adding English translation and offering more choices. I love the type of bread that they use. My favorite sandwich it’s still the original cold cut mixture(#1 or #2 on the menu). I usually buy them to go and when you buy 5 you get one for free. Prices has gone up over the years. New prices are $ 3.50 for non-toasted and $ 4 for toasted sandwich. Prices are still reasonable compared to other places

There’s a trade-off here between seating space & good sandwiches. It’s very small with only one long table, so I would recommend ordering to-go rather than eating there. Our group sat to eat there anyway, taking up the whole table. Luckily there wasn’t already someone there. Also be prepared with cash! Cash only place, but it’s cheap. I had the pork belly banh mi. Really good, but the sauce was slightly spicy. Other banh mi sandwiches I’ve eaten did not have any spicy ingredients, so I was not expecting this. I wish I had known, so I could say no spicy sauce since I don’t even like anything spicy. It’s not listed on the description.

This little shop is a perfect example of why I love tiny, hole in the wall delis and diners. As soon as I walked in I was in love with all the details that made this shop so cute: the cold case filled with fresh veggies and meats for sandwich fillings, the obviously well cared for plants dotting the restaurant, and the television playing some sort of Vietnamese music competition, which was extremely entertaining. My boyfriend and I got a few sandwiches to go, along with a cup of iced coffee. The service was quick and the owners were talkative and sweet. I was barely through my apartment door before I was making grabs at my fish cake sandwich and in one bite I was in heaven. Tender, mild fish with crunchy pickled vegetables on fresh baked, crispy on the outside soft on the inside bread. I couldn’t even ask my boyfriend how he liked his sandwich, but from the moans and groans in between bites, I could tell he loved it. We demolished our sandwiches in minutes! We’re still sitting here sipping the coffee we shared, which is so rich and decadent I don’t think I could ever go back to Starbucks. I’m absolutely taken with the food and atmosphere of this little deli, and I’ll be back tomorrow for sure!

Where’s the beef? This place is just ok. Being a Californian — I’ve orally assaulted many a bahn mi’s in my day and this example was uninspiring. While the bread was lovely, they charge you an extra .50 to toast it, and they toast by default. The vegetables are fresh, albeit sparse but the real shortcoming here is the meat, which is greasy and inundated with globs of fat. Don’t get me wrong, it was decent, but next time I’m in Orlando, it certainly won’t be on my hit list. Last and most offensive is the price. While hey used to be $ 2.75 which was great, they’re now $ 4 toasted. It’s one thing if the location was expensive, or even provided a reasonable place to sit and eat, but this is really a hole in the wall. The sandwiches aren’t particularly big, nor do they use much meat — so at $ 4, it’s a pass. Even in the San Francisco Bay Area where the cost of rent is an order of magnitude higher, Bahn Mi’s are $ 1 cheaper and have at least 50% more meat.

First off, don’t attempt driving on Colonial looking for it. It’s tucked away inside a courtyard. We were standing at the courtyard and still took a while to notice it, because it’s so small and it doesn’t really look like a restaurant on the outside. Inside, it’s just one big communal table, and you place your order by the counter. The banh mi is solidly good, the pork belly one is delicious. Price is less than other places, more like California price, but the stuffing is not as loaded — you still get plenty, just not loaded. While the food is a winner, my reason for giving it a 5 is the service. The young lady at the counter probably grew up in the U.S., so she speaks very good English. Moreover she has a charming personality. Whenever she notices that the customer is a first-timer, she takes time to explain the menu and makes suggestions. I don’t take points off for bad English when visiting an ethnic place, it’s part of the experience, but it indeed is nice when you look at the menu in confusion and someone takes the time to explain everything to you. Also, we ordered a Vietnamese coffee, which takes time to brew, and the girl comes by twice to let us know that it’s coming soon.

When you first walk into this tiny banh mi shop, it doesn’t look like much but there’s no need for appearances here… it’s all about the delicious scent of baked bread and cooked meats wafting through the air. I love me some hole in the walls! I had read so much on Unilocal about the sandwich lady before coming here so I was kind of hype to see her in action… except I’m short and apparently she’s also short and she works behind this walled counter so I couldn’t see any magic happen. In any case, when her husband came out to take our order, I asked for 6 Banh Mi Dac Biet to go(for another full day of meals at Universal). They also have a buy 5 get 1 free deal(YAY!) — all in all, it was $ 17.50. It took about 10 minutes for them to be prepped and brought out. The banh mi’s here are slightly shorter and a bit greasier than other ones I’ve eaten in the past but that doesn’t change the fact that they were mighty, miiighty delicious. Does she add bacon in these things??? Whatever it was, it was amazing and glorious and you should go get 1 or 5 or 10 right now… and maybe even overnight some to me in Philly!

Eating here is a lot like eating in Vietnam, minus the carts of liverwurst and mayonnaise baking in the subtropical sun all day. Traffic sounded fairly similar if you wait(there is a significant wait) out on Mills. Hell, maybe they even have one of those person-sized metal push-carts back there. But I doubt it; things seemed fairly sanitary. If that sort of thing reeeeally worries you, maybe you shouldn’t come here. However, if you want really good, cheap, really cheap, really real banh mi(a foodstuff on the up and up; well played BMNT), this is an excellent selection. Item! The varieties. I have only been here once, mostly because I often don’t have cash and am sick of Vietnamese food. It was a big accomplishment. For sandwiches(banh mi) there are 22 or so options. I got option 20, bean paste pork. If there was bean paste in there, I couldn’t have told you so, because I probably ate it in 30 seconds. There was a lot of saliva. Also, it only cost $ 3.50. Tasted good! Big win! Go there!
