I don’t typically eat sashimi when at a sushi establishment. But if you find yourself at Anaba, sit at the bar and find an array of fresh cut fish in the ice boxes. If you sit at the bar, ask for Min. He’ll walk you through the types they have and what you’re looking for. Being the start of the summer, side your meal with a refreshing glass of Sapporo. Why not enjoy a warm evening with some refreshing cuts of fish.

Super fresh sushi and pretty good service. I would avoid at peak hours as it gets pretty busy and people will wait 45 minutes or more to sit down. They do a pretty wild birthday show with bright lights and super loud music. The rolls are good and the fish is high quality. You will pay appropriately for it.

I have been here a couple times and have never been disappointed! The sushi is consistent and fresh. The food: Shrimp Tempura Roll: 5/5, this roll is amazing! It is crunchy on the outside and soft on the outside. Favorite roll. Golden Tiger Roll: 5/5, this roll is a favorite of Anaba Sushi goers. It is fresh and tasty and yummy. Great roll! California Roll: 5/5, this roll is always consistent and fresh. The avocado and crab go great together. Salmon Roll: 4/5, pretty good roll! I am not a big fan of the seaweed on the outside, but this roll made it work! Nice roll for salmon lovers. Spicy Chicken: 5/5, amazing chicken! This is perfect for those who are not sushi lovers. It was fried perfectly and the sauce was fantastic! Service: 4/5, our server was fine, nothing spectacular. She was kind and helpful.

This is from a sushi eaters point of view. The fish is always pretty good. The rice is hit or miss, it sometimes seems like day old hard and tasteless. This place has changed over the past few yew years. Quality seems to be slipping and service is crap at the sushi bar. If I’m going to spend over $ 100 with my wife for sushi I will be going to Sushi Hanada. Where the chef is actually Japanese and they don’t sing happy birthday every 5 minutes.

Very good tasting sushi and excellent customer service and this establishment can’t ask for more these days. Live pretty far from this place but have some family on this side of town. I make sure I come get a good quality sushi run here if I got time. Today Sunday afternoon was perfect quick turnaround. Will keep coming back when I’m in the area.

First off: WHYHAVEN’T I BEENHEREBEFORETODAY?! I went here for lunch today and literally inhaled my roll. I went to work and told all my friends about Anaba. Apparently, I’m always late to the party because they all agreed with me that this place serves GREAT food! My ONLY negs/concerns were that the floor in the women’s restroom was sticky and I didn’t care to SEE the pre made wasabi and ginger trays as I paid my bill. Other than that, here’s my review: I arrived right at 11:30 and was promptly seated at the sushi bar. Since this was my first time I was looking for any recommendations from the chef that I might try. He suggested the Yellow Tail something roll, I believe, but I decided to get the Green Dragon roll. Because avocado. It was served quite promptly and I did NOTWASTEANYTIME taking care of business! It tasted incredibly good. The avocado was amazing. The whole roll was BOMB! I had ordered another roll but thankfully was able to catch the chef in time before making me the Princess roll. I was completely stuffed on the one roll. I got my check and was able to pay promptly without hassle. Great restaurant, great service. You betcha I’ll be back to try more rolls; there is a wide variety! Thank you!

— Short Synopsis — Anaba has a large variety of sushi rolls and other Japanese cuisine. The size of the rolls are also above average, so be prepared. Most of the items are tasty! My salmon skin was unfortunately partially burnt. — Detailed Summary — Anaba has a cool modern American ambiance and when it is someone’s birthday, they have a fun little light show/song. One thing I do really enjoy is the wide variety of things offered here. If you enjoy Japanese food, there is bound to be an item you like. I feel like this place is a bit Americanized from a traditional Japanese joint, but still has decent food. The salmon delight roll was tasty and it is not too spicy until you reach the aftertaste. For some reason, I felt the heat more in my mouth after I ate it. The golden tiger roll is rich and flavorful! All the ingredients blend together well. The roll is not too deeply fried so it just provides enough of a crunch and taste to not overpower anything. If anything, there might be a little too much sauce; otherwise, it is a tasty roll. I do like how they put the seaweed on the side of their rolls as I really like this seaweed. I also like sitting at the sushi bar and watching the sushi chef(s) make sushi, but it is hard to see the sushi chef working at the sushi bar since the back glass displaying the fish is frosted and opaque(which means you can’t see through it). The salmon skin was tasty and crunchy, but slightly burnt. This resulted in some bites having too much of a burnt taste. I got both the salmon skin salad and salmon skin hand roll. Both were good aside for the few burnt ends. The salad had a nice citrus dressing and the hand roll and a nice slightly sweet sauce in it. Regardless, this place serves decent food and has a large variety of rolls to choose from.

Tilo the sushi chef is exceptional and this sushi spot is great: high quality at a very reasonable price. Nice marina setting too. If you see Tilo at the sushi bar try and get a spot in front of him: he is good at steering you in the right direction or coming up with something you didn’t know you wanted. This was my experience. I hope others enjoy theirs as much as I did mine.

Great sushi restaurant! To be completely honest, I’ve only ordered rolls from this sushi restaurant. If my husband and I want fresh fish to eat as sashimi, we usually go to our uncle’s restaurant all the way in Temecula for the freshest fish. So regarding their rolls, this place is really great!!! Pros: –Easy to order since everything is written on a piece of paper –Great sushi rolls– tried their most popular rolls and they did not disappoint –Delicious hamachi kama –Good service, especially the main lady who directs the flow of traffic in the restaurant Cons: –Such a busy restaurant… why can’t I ever just walk in and get seated? Just shows how many people love this place(always at least a 20 – 30 minute wait) –Very tight seating/your chair will probably hit the person behind you –Seemed dusty and dirty everywhere… They need to do a deep clean of all the nooks and crannies once in a while

Pros: Fresh fish, Beautiful view of the harbor, Great Service Cons: Have to sit through a disco party every time someone has a birthday during your meal I’ve been to Anaba at least 20 times in the past five years, and most recently got to enjoy a non-traditional Easter lunch here with the family. I usually order one of the Sushi combos(A, B or C), but I tried the Chirashi this time. I have to say, even living so close to excellent sushi in LA, Anaba continues to impress me. It came in two bowl – one with the fish and one with the rice and tamago. My favorite was the salmon, but everything was delicious. Expect a wait if you come here during peak lunch or dinner hours, but it’s worth it. Their sashimi is top notch and although I’m not into specialty rolls, their selection is expansive and my family/friends thoroughly enjoy them. We will definitely be back.

Still loving this place. The sushi is delicious and the service impeccable. We sat at the sushi bar. Loved our sushi chef… Min. He rocks. Tonight we had — salmon — sweet and ample pieces yellowtail — mild popcorn lobster roll — served hot with rice paper; melts in your mouth vegetable hand roll — very fresh Unagi– sweet spicy tuna hand roll — not too spicy but had a kick

My roomie and I came to Anaba to get her sushi fix after our workout class. We were seated right away. The venue had lots of room to accommodate any type of party. This would be a perfect place for either a nice date or a spot to catch up with a good friend. Also, can’t beat the view of that marina! The menu had an assorted array of sushi, including rice free rolls! We ordered Salmon Delight, Unagi, and Victoria. Fish was fresh and rolls were tasty. The only reason I took 1 star away was because our female server did not seem like the friendliest person, other than that I would return because the sushi is good.

Last night we had a wonderful dinner experience here with friends. We ate a TON of great sushi. Shrimp Dynamite Monkey balls Rainbow roll Popcorn lobster roll Salmon lovers roll Plus several orders of sushi… The place is nicely decorated and right next to the water which is nice. The service was fast and friendly and attentive. After dinner I tried to think of what could have been better and I couldn’t think of anything so for that 5 stars. Would def recommend.

we wanted sushi the mission find some place we have not been kick started the Unilocal app found a bunch close by went with Anaba. This place is in a strip mall which I am finding is where most of the good sushi places are found plus this is a great find in Oxnard. We were seated right away our waiter Henry was great he was on point, funny and kept the food coming at a good pace for our small table. The staff all have head sets and they flow very well as a team. We ordered or normal drinks saki for her and Kirin for me plus a couple of oyster shooters the oyster was huge and the drink was on point all though I think we got less booze with that big mollusk filling the glass. We had quit a few plates of sushi the fish was fresh and everything was tasty. We ordered salmon belly and halibut sashimi, to me it was sliced super thin and that is the only reason for my four star rating technically 4.5 would be accurate. We also ordered a variety of rolls and sushi too; Scallops w/mayo nigiri Surf clams nigiri Garlic tuna roll Golden tiger roll Victoria roll Wave roll Anaba roll All and all it was very good food and with my great friend Henry serving us we left full and happy definitely will return hot tip ask to sit in Henry’s section

I’ve been to Anaba several times before but my most recent visit is what turned me to writing this review. I came with a friend who had me venture into new types of sashimi I have never tried before. I usually stick to the basics, salmon and yellowtail being my favorite. I suppose I’m just a creature of habit. One new type of sashimi I tried was monkfish liver. It seemed pretty intimidating at first. I had only tried it once before at a different place and didn’t like it, but the monkfish I tried here was absolutely delicious! Fresh taste, soft texture. Would order again! I also tried toro for first time. It was served with sea salt and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I don’t like using wasabi in my sushi or sashimi but my friend said I should try fresh wasabi. It was my first time trying this and I loved it! I am definitely going to ask for it when I go and I recommend giving it a try! I have tried many sushi joints in Ventura County and the quality of the fish here is what truly stood out to me. The freshness, texture, and taste of their sushi and sashimi is one of the best around. The service was amazing! The staff was very friendly and I could feel that they are close knit. Our sushi chef Brian was very entertaining & energetic, making my experience trying new food more exciting and fun. There is almost always a line/wait entering this place and I understand why. Outstanding place!

This sushi restaurant is quite popular and fairly busy; we had to wait for a table even though it was late. However, the sushi was just okay, at least compared to some of the sushi places in larger cities. The rolls had pretty good flavor though the rice was little dry and didn’t hold together well. Overall it was at least a good sushi option for the area.
