My wife and I had the best dinner tonight. What a wonderful experience we had this evening, Bryan, our server was more than attentive, he was friendly and provided service above and beyond what is called for. My wife is allergic to dairy, he made sure all of our questions were answered accurately. We had good wine, great apps, wonderful entrees, deserts that made us smile and a few cocktails in between that were made precisely. Thank you to all the staff at chop house that gave us such a remarkable dining event(it really is an event when you go 4 or more courses over 2 hours and experience top notch service the entire time). We had halibut, bone in ribeye, shrimp cocktail, carpaccio, house salads, lobster mac, asparagus, berries, and wonderful ambiance.

Chop House Review: When visiting La Quinta we were referred to the Chop House by a colleague so decided to visit and dine. The bad: It was a mediocre dining experience. the service was slow considering we had reservations at 7pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was almost empty. It took way too long for bread to come to the table and our waiter told us that they were baking the bread and when served to us it was not even hot, but it was tasty. Our waiter really never checked on us once our food was served. The manger served us our $ 69.00 bottle of wine and when pouring, spilled drops of wine on our pristine white tablecloth — not good. We were seated at a booth against the wall and watched the traffic while dining, not the most romantic thing to look at while spending $$$ on a dinner experience. The good: They have an extensive wine list and 50% sale of really good wines. Their menu has a really good variety of entrees to please anyone’s taste. I ordered the 6oz filet and it was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the 12oz filet and his was a little too pink inside after he ordered it medium — but overall really good quality steaks. The dinner salad was just okay. We shared the yukon gold garlic mashed potatoes and they were very tasty. Overall — The staff and manager were friendly, the food was good, the ambiance was mediocre — and being that there are so many other dining choices when visiting this area — we will most likely not be referring any of our colleges to the Chop House.

Very nice atmosphere — hubby had the steak but he wasn’t a fan– kind of tough and gritty. The crab legs and mashed potatoes were very good. My fave was the lobster bisque! A bit of a higher end/higher priced restaurant but nice to enjoy every once and awhile.

I would give the place 4 stars if I had dined there on my own because my food was excellent however three people in our part had to send their bone-in steaks back because they were overcooked(were ordered medium rare and came out medium well). Besides that, the sides were excellent(Lobster Macaroni n Cheese was great), the service was top notch, the décor is a bit strange with about 6 different themes running through the place, and the wine selection was fair except the one bottle we chose to get they were out of(Imagine that). All in all, if you’re stuck in Palm Springs, go here and enjoy an LA knockoff Steakhouse.

I really wanted to like you better Chop House, but our mediocre dining experience left much to be desired. We wanted to try a new restaurant on our last night in Palm Springs. Upon arrival the wait staff was very friendly & the service was great. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant was fairly empty compared to the others next nearby which were booming on a Saturday Night. First bad sign. They sat us at a nice romantic table in the back corner. The warm sourdough bread was delicious & just how I like it, nice & crusty on the outside & soft & airy on the inside. The menu looked great. We decided to order the 18oz Ribeye, a Baked Potato with the works and a side of Shaved Brussels Sprouts with Mushrooms, truffles and Caramelized shallots. Everything looked amazing on paper, but when the food came it was only O.K. The Ribeye was tough & didn’t really taste like a Ribeye. The Brussels Sprouts with Mushrooms were very yummy! Strong truffle flavor, I really like truffles so I loved them, but if you aren’t a truffle fan stay away. Baked potato was good, nothing too exciting here, but tasty. We decided to order Crème Brulee & and Cappuccino for dessert. They brought us the Crème Brulee which was a bit runny, but tasted ok. they didn’t bring us the Cappuccino until we were finished with the dessert. Aren’t Coffee & dessert supposed to go together? this was quite annoying. I would have rather they waited to bring the dessert WITH the coffee. I give this place a solid 2.5 but since I have to pick I’ll bump it up to a 3. Probably wont be back with so many other great restaurants in the area.

Chop House… Indian Wells Tennis Gardens terrible service… terrible food… gorgeous setting overlooking the new tennis stadium… it’s brand new so maybe their Tomahawk Steak for $ 139.00 will get better — it sure isn’t 48 ounces!!! I ordered a Ceasar Salad too but they brought it with the steak and there was NOROOM on the table for a salad plate and a dinner plate… so I had to send the salad back… very expensive and very disappointing. Our group of four won’t be back… and a glass of house wine is $ 20.00 — Beware!!!

Wasn’t planning on going to Chop House(all steaked out!!), but when Chez Pierre next door didn’t honor our Open Table reservation(first time that’s happened in as long as I can remember, if EVER) we checked it out since it’s next door. A very pleasant surprise indeed! Food was excellent, especially considering we both had FISH(mahi mahi and sea bass), perfectly prepared over veg and creamy mashed. Free salad to start and delicious cappucino mousse cake completed a more than satisfactory first experience — we’ll be back, and will be sure to wave at the hostess in Chez Pierre when we walk straight past their door!!!

Love this place! We were craving steak while on vacation and just happened to drive by. We actually came 2 nights in row because the food and service(Bryan) were that good. Filet Mignon, Brussels Sprouts and Broccolini, dinner salad and ice cream-were all delicious! 2nd night my son upgraded from a 6oz filet to 8 oz because he wanted more! We will definitely come back when we are in the area again!

Mmmmmmm. The only thing better than the food was the service. I will be back for the filet. This time I had the NY special and added peppercorn on the side — didn’t use it, the steak was great as served. The GM even stopped by to make sure our dinner was prepared the way we wanted it which impressed my date. Bravo Chop House, Bravo.

My Sister and I like to try out new places every month, especially when we’re on vacation. We happened by The Chop House and decided we’d like to have dinner there because of how it looked, and because it said Steak and Seafood which we’re both a huge fan of. We came very late, around 9:15pm, and we were greeted with such friendly faces, appearing so happy to serve us, even though it was near closing time. The waiter, Bryan, was amazing! He gave us such impeccable service, was very helpful when it came to suggesting cocktails and side dishes. I couldn’t be more happy with the service. As a matter of fact, I am giving Chop House 4 stars based primarily upon the service and atmosphere. The food is good, but it lacks seasoning. All of the side dishes we ordered needed better seasoning, but the Rib Eye Steak and Osso Bucco were AMAZING! They were perfectly seasoned and cooked, and they are something that I would go back just to eat. The cocktails are strong and yummy, too by the way. I love the idea of the Lobster Mac and Cheese, but I would suggest that they add more chunks of lobster, instead of just shavings of lobster, and as with all of the other side dishes, it lacks seasoning. Overall, I was very happy with my experience, and will be visiting again next summer when we’re back in Palm Desert for our annual family reunion.

One of THE best meals and service we have received this past year! I think the location is a bit odd(a common strip mall, park in the back) but who cares! From the moment we entered we had the best care and service and food! We brought another couple on a Sunday night celebrating their 50th Anniversary. The waitress(gosh I think her name was Yvonne, a beautiful woman with straight dark hair) was wonderful with her wine recommendations, food recommendations, attentive by her and the«water boy». Both couples ordered the $ 89 Prime Porterhouse for two. We each got a side dish… Lobster Mac and Cheese~delectable, Brussel sprouts(my new addiction), Asparagus, and Mushrooms. All fabulous. And of course dessert. The best steak! Cooked perfectly. I love coming to a restaurant and not caring what the bill is! Yes, $ 225 for four plus $ 50 tip(Yvonne earned it). We will be returning, and possibly ask for the same waitress to have another wonderful experience.

I had been bugging my husband and friends about going to the Chop HOuse. I kept seeing that it was voted #1 steakhouse in the valley. It was really nothing special. First impression of the décor was not favorable. Burgundy Walls, empty tables, TVs in bar. Our waitor ignored us or wasn’t told about us and we were finally waited on after sitting for about 15 minutes! Drinks were good. Steak was fine. just fine. There are many other steakhouses in the desert that offer something more.

Terrific steaks, but not much more to bring me back. We had a nice dinner with good service. The place was pretty busy on a weeknight; I was glad we made a reservation. The bf ordered a vesper but got something different. The menu says that it should a twist of lemon; his martini had two olives. He drank it anyway and it was a fine drink. I got the alcohol-free pear cooler(ginger beer, pear purée, cinnamon syrup) and was quite happy with it. Salads were made with good mixed greens, diced tomatoes, dried cranberries, and gorgonzola. It was a nice house salad, lightly dressed as I prefer. The shrimp cocktail was great: big shrimp with a delicious celery root remoulade. My 6 oz filet was great. The meat was high quality and cooked medium exactly as I requested. I didn’t bother with the sauce(Hollandaise?) on the side. This meat was great as-is. The tomato half topped with crumbs was a strange garnish; each of us got one and tried to eat it thinking it was roasted or something. Just a cold tomato with cold crumbs. The bf got the porterhouse, and again his steak was great. They get really great meat and know how to prepare it well. But the sides were disappointing. The fries(we decided to go the ‘steak frites’ route) were like those you’d get anywhere else. After tasting the steak, we’d expected something a bit more, perhaps handcut or fresh(especially for $ 7). Overall, the steaks were as good as claimed. But the rest just didn’t impress.

The local family-owned Kaiser restaurant group, even in tough economic times, skillfully manages a slowly growing set of restaurants that achieve staff and customer loyalties like I’ve rarely seen. The six current Coachella Valley venues are variations on mainstream Americana concepts, with sometimes creative menu twists. The Kaiser group has even kept its restaurants open in this desert valley’s hot-weather months(when tourists vanish and the population drops), with simplified menus, and deep-discounted specials to attract business — while many other restaurants closed for the summer(or for good). This surely promotes that customer loyalty. Palm Desert’s Chop House is the Kaiser place I know best, and that I most often send people to when asked for restaurant recommendations. Core menu: upscale US steakhouse, with high-quality meat sources and seafoods. Seasonal happy-hour bar-dining deals and prix-fixe menus supplement that. This part of the Coachella Valley has a history of competitive, above-average steakhouses, both independents and big chains; I’ve tried many of them. I haven’t found Chop House’s kitchen quite as perfectionistic and consistent as one or two others, example below — but please understand that as a hair-splitting comparison in a competitive market, and I return to Chop House more than the others. In this part of California, it approaches the old ideal of a friendly, steady neighborhood bar-grill.(I still encounter employees and regular customers first met five years ago.) Depending when you go and what you’re after, a fine Chop House dinner can run $ 15 per person or $ 150. Budget diners should, as usual, check prix-fixe menu specials and the great-value«happy-hour»(HH) plates for early bar-area dining — I’ve found these excellent at CH. Because it’s a restaurant that still butchers its own meat, CH’s kitchen generates scraps of US Prime beef, which become tenderloin kebabs or hamburgers on the HH menu. Recently I tried one of those HH hamburgers: cooked to order(blue cheese, caramelized-onion, vegetable garnishes included, on a good custom bun) — for all of $ 7. Almost a fast-food price. But this was NO fast-food hamburger — not to mention far classier ambiance and service. Here’s the perfectionistic quibble: I’ve noticed diners finding those hamburgers undercooked in my recent visits — it can happen if, say, kitchen rituals are careless about the meat’s starting temperature — so if you like it medium-rare, order medium and you should be fine; or mention that this has been an issue, and maybe they’ll address it. I’ve tried much of CH’s regular menu, always been satisfied. It’s strange to read a few Unilocal gripes with dismissive conclusions but NO details — but that’s part of Unilocal.(Suggestion to owners: ignore those. «Owner comments» can address factual misinformation, but can’t do much about negative comments lacking details or evidence — some people are like that, online, despite Unilocal’s review guidelines. Unilocal-wide, some of those comments are even phony«reviews» by competitors, or by «problem» customers who created the situation they gripe about. Unilocal doesn’t yet have the needed capability for businesses to rate Unilocalers — a future growth opportunity maybe. :-) Food trivia: What first kindled my interest in this restaurant is a dignified menu footnote disclaiming responsibility for steaks ordered well-done or «medium-well.» Unilocaler Twin E.‘s original review spoke truth: these are way-above-average meats, wasted if cooked in ways yielding results indistinguishable from cheap cuts(also true for braising and boiling). And I can still hear the tirade, 15 years ago, from a high-end chef friend about customers requesting steaks cooked«medium-well.» «NO such definition traditionally exists in this business,» he raged. «‘Medium-well’ is a euphemism from people who want well-done meat, AND don’t want to admit it!»

I like other Kaiser family restaurants. I always go to HOGS or Jackalope Ranch. Bout of them are in my favorite list. Recently I decided to try Chop house. I did not like anything about it. Food was very plain hotel food like. Will not go back again.

I was very unhappy after dining here. –The waiter was never around which meant that we had to ask for our drinks to be refilled constantly. –The steak we ordered was asked to be pink, not red and it didn’t come out that way.(the waiter was never around to send it back before we got so hungry we ate it) –The pricey steak had a few grissly pieces of fat in it. Not something you want when you are paying for a great steak. –Scalloped potatoes tasted mostly like salt. The best part about this place was the bread. Unfortunately that is not enough to get me to return.
