Had the Ahi for starters, fricken amazing. 16oz Ribeye was cooked perfect. Romantic ambiance. All around great. Would have given 5 stars but our server wasn’t that attentive for not being very busy, had to ask the assistants for bread, to go bags, water. Worth the price though, I’d return for another dinner.

Had a wonderful dinner for my mother-in-law’s birthday! I love how they customized one side of the menu printing ‘Happy Birthday Linda’ just for our group and giving us the printed group photo they took in the end. That personalized touch and the service made us felt really special. The ribeye steak and sweet potato casserole were the best I’ve ever had! Great job for Ruth’s Chris Palm Desert.

We had a reservation. Hostesses had the typical Palm Desert«I could care less that you exist» attitude. We were left standing and waiting to be seated for almost 10 minutes with no communication from the hostess staff. We were seated at the worst possible two top right by the kitchen. We did get another table, and it was okay, but not great. Again, the lackadaisical attitude. Just after we were seated, booths were opening up. We would have gladly waited another few minutes to get a better table, but the hostess told us that ALL the tables were booked throughout the evening. The restaurant was virtually empty when we left. Our food came out quickly, but after that it appears we we were an afterthought. Server had a good attitude, but we had to ask him a couple of times for more bread. This wasn’t easy either, as he was walking right by us but wouldn’t look our way. We were served a Caesar Salad but had to ask for crushed black pepper and he didn’t have a pepper mill handy. He chased one down and returned several minutes later. Steak was under-cooked(rare, NOT medium rare), but still delicious and very flavorful. Potatoes Au Gratin also under-cooked. Was the cook in a rush for some reason? Dishes sat on the table not getting cleared for quite some time. While these may be small, nit picky details, this is an expensive restaurant and a steak does cost $ 50. Ruth’s Chris in San Diego is a much better experience.

When we go to a restaurant that has a specialty… i.e.Ruths Chris STEAKHOUSE, we expect perfection in the steaks, not the chicken or the seafood. However, this particular location ruined Valentines for us and it’s sad to say, it’s not the first time. My husband loves the sweet potato casserole, so we keep trying in hopes of a change. There was only 2 of us, but they couldn’t get the steaks right… total of 4 filets were tried. The First time both filets weren’t cooked the way we ordered; 2nd time the filets were like rubber. You shouldn’t need to «saw» a filet to cut the meat. Quality of steak was terrible and absolutely no flavor.(Usually they heavily pepper them but I order with no pepper.) I now know why they put so much pepper before they serve them… to camouflage that it’s tasteless. The 2 baked potatoes weren’t fully cooked either! What restaurant/chef can’t get that right? We had salad, wine and bread for Valentines dinner!!! Two of the managers offered a gift card which we accepted, but will never order a steak there again. Crab cakes are great. Caesar salad too. Our waitress was great but felt badly of course and kept apologizing for the major errors. After reading other negative reviews about the steaks, perhaps the restaurant should just drop«Steakhouse» and become Ruths Chris only! We will just return to our absolute favorite steak place where there’s never an issue(in La Quinta) from now on. No more attempts for Ruths Chris Steakhouse Palm Desert.

This is our favorite steak house and this location in particular has amazing staff. We take our entire crew and our kids to dinner here every year as an end of the season celebration(we work in the desert during the snow bird season) and the staff has always made the kids feel as important as the adults. Last season we went on my daughter’s 13 birthday and that was such a great experience for her. She even had personalized menus at our table. Looking forward to seeing them again soon! Oh! And the sweet potato casserole is to die for!!!

My husband brought me here for my birthday and the staff made it very special. The first table that we were seated in had an unpleasant aroma coming from under the table. When we informed the waiter he promptly moved us to a different table. The special touches they added for my birthday made me feel very special. The steaks were cooked perfectly as was the lobster tails and shrimp. I enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese, it had some chilies added in to spice it up and cut down some of the richness. We also had the harvest salad and it was delicious. I loved the Cajun pecans, cherries and goat cheese. So yummy. The birthday desert was unexpected but equally delicious. I was very pleased with my visit here and would return again.

I love the happy hour menu here! The filet mignon sandwich with beanaise sauce is supreme! They have the best French fries that go along with it too! We usually split this and also get a chopped or a wedge salad as well! Allison was a super friendly server and very attentive!

Typically, Ruth Chris is a 4 or 5 star experience in a larger city and I would certainly be giving 5 stars if it were an exceptional experience but sadly, it was not. My birthday was planned to the t, and had family in tow… yes it is on a busy day but it’s Ruth Chris! I will say it was no fault of the Chef, because the food is awesome here, just to be clear. It was a bad experience not once, but my 3rd visit and I wanted to be absolutely certain it was not the food and why I choose this location again. Bottom line the management is a fail, and the wait staff mediocre. The waitress messed up the order and then then the manager visited; he was so loud every nearby table leaned in to listen… we were all embarrassed. Is this the experience you wish to have at Ruth Chris? Its not the first time we have dealt with this unprofessional representative of Ruth Chris. Perhaps there is a short supply of exceptional food managers in town, but it would be worth the money to get one. you have made a tremendous impact on 7 people who will never re-visit this location ever again. Oh, and the manager did not make it right…

Celebrated my 40th birthday dinner with my family here. Online reservation was an easy task. First thing we appreciated was the setup of our table with confetti & happy birthday glitters on it. Very friendly service crew. special shoutout to Lori! The steaks, wine & everything else were great! Thank you Ruth’s for making my day special!

In general, Ruth’s Chris Steak houses serve beef that is extremely tender, and this location was no exception. The appetizers, the salads, and the entrée’s were all excellent. A small thing, it got a little strange that every employee that we encountered asked us if it was our first time eating at a Ruth’s, as we were dressed up quite nicely, it seemed to take on a slight condescending tone after the third time. Other than that, the food was very good, as was the service. Even if the prices are out of someone’s budget, it is worth it to save up and go to on a special occasion. Cheers!

We dinned on sat night 6:15 place was half full which is nice being summer in the desert. I started with a Riesling off dry Jim had a brandy old fashion. Cocktails a little pricey at $ 14 for well drink my wine was also $ 14. We went with the pre fix for $ 54 Jim had the caesar to start then a 6 oz filet side of fire roasted corn I had a wedge with thousand a 16 oz ribeye and creamed spinach we also shared a baked potato. Salads were very good crisp lettuce my thousand was excellent. Steaks ribeye juicy cooked perfect Med Rare Jim’s filet a bit over med but he likes it that way. The creamed spinach was ok(The Palm’s is much better) the corn dish had too many peppers in it it should be more emphasis on the corn and less on the peppers. Too overpowering. The baked potato they split in the kitchen was cold I mean really cold well my half anyway. Disappointed there. Desert was a butter cake with strawberries and some chocolate nuggets it was good.. All in all Ehh I mean 2 pre fix 3 drinks, oh I had a pino Syrah blend from Oregon with my steak, bill $ 164. Seems a bit pricey for a summer pre fix Actually a little too much food should serve smaller portions and be a little more economically priced.

What a wonderful place. I stopped in for dinner– party of one, but I was treated to the same level of service I would have gotten with a full table. My waitress, Lori was very friendly and professional. Her knowledge of the wine list was very helpful. I understand from Lori that they have undergone a remodel this summer so if you haven’t been in for a few months be sure to stop in again. It is absolutely beautiful, definitely has that classic steak house ambiance.

I can’t complain. I have been here before a couple times, and Friday night, my most recent visit, was still delicious. The construction is over.(For those who complained about the dust and signs) I had the blueberry mojito, which was delicious. The blueberries were strung on the mini skewer like how olives are for martinis. Dessert was the strawberry shortcake. The whipped cream was delicious, light and fluffy. I wouldn’t say it’s a «to die for» dessert, but it was good. I’ll skip over the food items that everyone has already written about. Delicious bread with soft spreadable butter. Check. Shrimp. Check. Steak. Check. Spinach. Check. Corn. Check. Service was good. On previous visits, we had even better service, but I won’t hold this server to standards others set by going above and beyond. Whether you want a great steak or are celebrating an occasion, this is a yummy choice that you can’t go wrong with.

Being an avid Ruth’s Chris customer at all locations, I haven’t been to this establishment in quite some time due to my last experience; Which might I say did not go very well. I am currently writing this review as I am sitting at one of the tables near the entrance. First thoughts, less appealing than most Ruth Chris, as we entered to these make shift signs that apologized for the«dust» and«watch your step.»(I’ll post pics following this review). We sat quickly since we had a reservation, but the table in which we were sat at, is facing the horrible view of what they consider the«entrance.» This is probably the ghetto-ist Ruth’s Chris I’ve ever been to. Lol. The service is good so far. My liquor came quicker than our waters. Not sure how that happened. Appetizers came quick as well, and we just ordered our entrees. The ambience is pretty much the same, dim lights, etc., but seriously, the«entrance» and make shift signs are not the usual.

When unsure of the food landscape, RC is generally a safe refuge. Considering how large this chain is, I am impressed by their ability to apply consistency and quality across their locations. The Palm Desert Ruth’s Chris may be the exception to that(so far) solid reputation. The meat itself was lovely, but the preparation and service did not rise to the professionalism I have experienced at the other locations. My Wife and I ordered the same cut of meat /medium-rare, but the results were wildly different. Mine came as ordered, Hers was cold and raw. It did not make it back to the table until the children’s dessert came. By then Mine was cold and half gone as I triiieeeeeddd politely wait !!! When it finally came… it was burnt to a crisp. Too little, too late RC. There was no real acknowledgment of this messy execution. More disappointing though, the waitress shamed us for bringing our children to RC because we were apparently spoiling them by her standards. She set we were ‘setting the bar too high .’ I am on vacation, I want to see them dressed up, sitting politely & yes, spoil them with a little — rather them leave them behind with a stranger(at the same cost) to eat frozen chicken fingers. Either way, you have a children’s menu for a reason lady… In the words of the great internet classic«I ain’t got time for that» Sorry, but still in search of my Palm Desert steak house…

Typical Ruth’s but 5 stars for Hector! Hector was an absolute doll. Our assigned waiter was kind of sucky but he made up for it. The classic filet medium rare and lobster tail with spinach, mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole a la mode — my signature order this place got it right. I also got the Red Greyhound drink, it was yummy!

***** My 100th Review ***** This is fine dining at its best. We’ve been coming here for years and everything — food and service — is always excellent. The Food: Ah, so delicious! These steaks are USDA prime and seared(top and bottom) at the same time in 1800 degrees, then served on ceramic plates that have been heated to 500 degrees. When the steaks are plated, they are topped with 1 tablespoon of butter. Time stops and all I hear is that sizzle as my steak is served. No one else makes a filet mignon, my favorite, as tender and scrumptious as this. My husband likes to start with the barbecue shrimp as an appetizer and he likes to dip bread in the Creole-style sauce. His favorite steak is the ribeye with a loaded baked potato for his side dish. Delicious! Their perfectly flavored Caesar salad dressing is made fresh in house. The sides are easily large enough to share, but I get a little selfish here and won’t share. My favorite side is the mashed potatoes with a hint of garlic. For dessert, I like their crème brûlée with fresh berries. The Name: Chris Matulich in New Orleans founded the original Chris Steak House in 1927. In 1965, Ruth Fertel bought the business. When she relocated the business after a fire, she renamed the business Ruth’s Chris Steak House, because the purchase agreement prevented her from using the name«Chris» at any other address. Now, Ruth’s Chris Steak House is a chain of over 135 steakhouses across the US and some international locations. Most serve only dinner and some also serve lunch. This location serves only dinner. Valet: Both valet and self-parking are available. 5 Stars — you cannot get any better than this. Ruth’s Chris is my favorite restaurant.

Reservations for a Monday night, we were seated right away and surprised to see it was pretty busy for an early dinner on a Monday. The food is definitely 4 – 5 star worthy, my Cesar salad was just«alright» but everything else was pretty phenomenal taste wise. Their steaks are pretty damn good, cooked exactly how I liked it with the right amount of seasoning that it’s not overdone. The hot plate also makes the difference in your first bite being as good as your last. Mashed potatoes were heavenly with all that butter!!! Also id highly recommend the risotto and scallops if your not in the mood for meat, it was one of the best dishes I’ve had In awhile. Knocked down one star for the service. Despite being seated quickly the pace of the meal really seemed to drag on. I feel the pace the food was brought out at was just too long, unless your having cocktails and are seeing some friends for the first time in awhile I don’t think dinner should ever really take up to almost 1 ½ hours. Also felt like we had to wave down our waitress way too often for an establishment praised on being«fine dinning», when you spend a couple hundred bucks on a meal id expect A+ service.

Amazing. We came here last Saturday night with a reservation for 12 for our friend’s 30th birthday. We got there on time, but the table wasn’t ready yet so we hung out in the beautiful, but small bar and enjoyed some drinks first. The ambiance in here is much more upscale than other 5-star steakhouses I’ve been to and everyone was dressed niced and on their best behavior. We were seated in the back portion of the restaurant and I think we had 3 – 4 servers for our table, all of whom were complete angels. I ordered the Ribeye medium rare(because duh) and the Potatoes Au Gratin along with a couple glasses of some really good red wine(the name and varietal escapes me). The ribeye was beautifully marbled, huge, and perfectly cooked. The Potatoes Au Gratin were absolutely perfect as well, and the sides are definitely big enough to share between 2 – 3 people. I also tried the Sweet Potato Casserole which was served with a pecan crust and it was absolutely insane, I highly recommend it, although definitely to share because it is quite rich and you get a little overwhelmed by it after several bites. Our food came out quickly and every left happy and very full. I highly recommend this location for a nice evening out, a special occasion, or if you just feel like spoiling yourself with a perfect steak. Yes it’s expensive and yes it’s worth it.
