Being originally from Orange County I have been spoiled with endless food options from different cuisines from around the world. Having moved to the Coachella Valley I soon discovered the lack of food diversity. We are surrounded by fast food joints and lots and lots of chain restaurants. Boy was I happy when I Unilocaled«Vietnamese food» and Phở Vu popped up on my phone screen. Phở Vu has two locations: one in Palm Desert and the other in La Quinta. Even though the La Quinta location is closer to me, I make the drive to Palm Desert because of the prompt service, delicious food and lots of seating. The La Quinta location is a bit smaller and does not have booths. My husband and I visit Phở Vu a few times a month. Their phở is delicious and served plentiful. We usually get the spring rolls, Phở or the rice dishes. They recently added Banh-Mi to their menu(where were these delicious sandwiches when I was pregnant!?!). On Friday nights there is usually a very small wait time but it is so worth it. The staff is very friendly and you will not be disappointed with any dish that you order. This is a little hidden gem of the desert.

Excellent customer service provided by my waiter today, Encho(?). I’ve been here once before and our waiter at that time was gross, I saw him rubbing on his nose before he came to our table. The food is off the chain, great flavors. This place is the !

Dinner of fresh spring rolls with roasted pork, and phở… The rolls were very well done, and the roasted pork inside still warm — unlike many places that serve the pork cold… Thumbs up! The phở broth was tasty and light, and so also very delicious!

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat… and I might visit the la Quinta location again, but NEVER ever again this one. The reason is because there a particular waiter who is very rude. After the first time myself and the people I visited the restaurant with let it slide, then the second time it happened again we were frustrated, today we just ended up literally walking out. He always acts super annoyed, short responses, rolling eyes, and no eye contact. This last time I just simply asked for no ice with my drink and he got very upset and for some reason said he would have to charge me double then. So weird… he acts like he’s trying to discourage you to dine there…

Food is same as majority of the other phở houses with the exception of the extremely high prices. Sandwiches normal $ 3.50 anywhere else in the county is double. Phở is a third higher. I can usually get combo phở and sand for the same price as just their phở.

Yummy Vietnamese dishes as you’d expect. They have they’re own twist on the bubble tea from what I’ve had before and they call them Shakes with tapioca balls, still tasty as you’d expect and the Phở was delicious too.

Quality and service is good and consistent. I personally love the crunchy salty chicken wings. Their phở is good, not the best I’ve ever had but for the price and quality I have been here over a dozen times and plan to keep on coming back.

We were visiting and saw the high ratings. Maybe it’s due to the holiday but they needed more people on staff to work. The food was mediocre — the noodles were a bit undercooked and the egg rolls seem to have been at the window for a while. It’s not the worst phở I’ve had but certainly not the best.

The noodles in broth they call Phó has become my favorite food thanks to this place! Im new to the taste so im not all that well experienced in Phó dishes but I keep coming back for more. At least twice a week. That has got to account for something! Im one who appreciates the good food over the service but this place also has friendly service that will catch you off guard.:) They’ve got three lovations(that I know of) in the Coachella Vallley; La Quinta, Palm Desert, and Palm Springs. All three great!

A nice place for Vietnamese food. We started with the chicken wings, They were really oily and I can’t guarantee what«chicken part» I was actually served. I wouldn’t recommend this item. Our Phở was quite tasty. Service is fast, not much on the friendly. Take your order, bring your food, give your check. A welcome addition to this area of Palm Desert, very happy to have this food option available!

Everything I’ve had at this restaurant is fantastic! Usually I just have the phở soup with tendon, tripe, and flank steak, or something similar, and it is delicious, abundant, authentic, fragrant, filling, and attractively served. Once in a while I have an appetizer, such as the fried tofu, which is simply a big dish of deep-fried tofu cubes with side sauce– it sounds simple, but it is incredibly good, and I alway manage to burn myself because it comes to the table sizzling hot and is too delicious to wait for. I’ve had some of the rice dishes and noodle dishes as well, and they are excellent, but my true love is the Phở, though there is never enough basil anywhere you go. The service is fast and friendly, also, and the décor, while very plain, is not offensive and is actually quite serene and comfortable.

I really enjoy phở and was happy to see the location in Palm desert had opened. The owners and staff are very friendly and willing to help. Foods always fresh and very tasty. I usually order for pickup and they make it really easy to put together with all the ingredients nicely packaged. If your a fan of coconut then definitely try the coconut juice — it’s a must for me every time.

I went here for a nice dinner after the gym and was treated to a nice surprise. I’m used to the Vietnamese restaurants in Florida that are all the same, relying on their number system to order the meal. While this place also had numbering, the restaurant had more of a sophistication to it. My main peeve with Viet restaurants is that very issue where they have all these numbers so that they can put every single combination they can think of for the meats for each phở or bun. This place didn’t do that. They kept it simple with the more common meats and kept the option to add on if desired. I chose the meatball phở, which was delicious. The broth was very flavorful. I tried it first without the hoisin, and it was very good as a stand alone. I usually don’t add hoisin to my phở anyways, so I liked that this phở didn’t need it, but everyone’s tastes are different. The small size is the perfect amount to fill you up without overfilling. The spring rolls were also beautifully presented. They have a lot packed in the rolls, so they can almost be a meal for one person. I could order just that for myself and be satisfied. This place definitely has great value and great taste. Definitely coming back, and they even have take out too for those who want the comfort of Vietnamese food at home.

Out of the way from the Hwy 111 desert resort strip, but a hop off the I-10 Montery off-ramp, Phở Vu is in a newer shopping mall w/ample parking. Interior is clean, spacious, minimalist, functional, down to business. Service is friendly for a Vietnamese restaurant since most places in Orange County at least take the order, place the food w/nary a word. An older gentleman there was kind enough to check if I needed refills for the Vietnamese ice tea which was closer to a mildly astringent, slightly floral green tea. At the end of the meal, he even offered to top off the ice tea & place it in a take out cup for me. That gesture was certainly appreciated considering the outdoor ambient temperature was close to 108 degrees when dehydration is of primary concern. 1) Bun Cha Gio is a bowl full of Bun which is thin rice noodles looking like Capelli d’Angeli pasta. Also included are shredded lettuce & carrots, cucumber, cilantro. Cha Gio are egg rolls this time using what looks more like wheat style wrap which although crisp this time did not have the teeth shattering thin rice paper wrapper. I personally like the rice based paper wrapping since it fries up thinner & crispier w/a better mouthfeel that doesn’t feel as mouth drying. The inside filling did not particularly have a meaty Umami and seemed also dry in texture. Nuoc Cham/diluted sweetened fish sauce w/shredded Japanese Daikon radish & carrots floated in the light amber dipping sauce. 2) Goi Cuon are moistened soft but pliant rice paper covered rolls filled w/lettuce, julienned cucumber, more Bun, boiled shrimp accompanied by a peanut-hoisin/sweet fermented soy paste ‘Miso’ sauce. I put some Sriracha chile paste into the sauce to up the gastrique & acidity to awaken more flavours in the Goi Cuon, but the lack of other flavourful herbs such as the green & purple Vietnamese ‘Shiso’, Rauram leaves made this Goi Cuon taste rather«flat». If Phở Vu were in Orange County, it would come into some fierce competition, but here in the desolate northern extension of the great Sonoran desert, I would rate it about 3 Unilocal stars since good service is also taken into account.

Delicious Phở(4 stars) We were hungry after watching one of the films at the Palm Springs Film Festival, but wanted to eat closer to the house. We Unilocaled a Phở place and decided to come here. Light and airy dining room with plenty of seating. Got Saigon and Heineken beers. We got BBQ pork spring rolls — delicious! We got chicken and beef Phở, both large –Delicious Phở The broth was rich and I love the noodles and all the other stuff you put in the soup. Definitely worth returning.

Oh, my… the food here is so delicious; we are now huge fans of this restaurant! This was our first time at a Vietnamese restaurant. Everything on the menu looked so good that I wanted to try it all. We decided to order several items and share. A big plus, their dishes are all rice based/non-wheat products. For appetizers, we had the steamed #2 Gi Cun Tht Nng(BBQ Pork Spring Rolls), with BBQ pork with lemongrass wrapped in rice paper with vermicelli, and #5 Crispy Ch Giò(Eggroll) with shrimp, pork and vegetables. The rolls come with a dipping sauce. Both orders of the rolls were good, but the crispy rolls are fantastic. For our entrées, we had the #32 Bò Lúc Lc(Filet Mignon), chunks of tender and delicious filet with onions, cilantro and tomatoes with delicious yellow steamed rice. The second order was #11 Ph Đc Bit(Phở combo). The broth had that just right flavor, the brisket was tender, combined with rice noodles and adding the bean sprouts, basil leaves, jalapeño and lime that are served on a side dish, this was a very hearty meal. We ordered so much food that we ended up taking half of it home. And, that was just on the first visit. There have already been several more trips that have been just as fantastic. Customer service is just as outstanding as the food. Sang has been our server each time and he’s terrific.

2 ½ stars. Stopped in when I arrived into town for a weeknight dinner. It was early and the restaurant was not busy.
Started off with pork & shrimp spring rolls which were just average and not the freshest I’ve eaten. I wasn’t in the mood for Phở and chose the Filet mignon entrée for around $ 15.00 The friendly waiter asked how I wanted it prepared and I advised him medium rare. When my food arrived it looked decent but when I tasted the filet it was overcooked. My family owned and operated a Chinese restaurant and myself working there I learned that if you stir fry and want the meat cooked a certain temperature the pieces need to be similar in size. Well these weren’t at all and look like cutoffs from another entrée or leftover soup ingredients. The person who’s preparing the meat needs to be educated of how this meat is going to be cooked. Does he or she know this filet is suppose to be prepared to the clients preference? Kinda sad bc cooking the entrée again would result in the same catastrophe — I’m shocked the chef also prepared it in this manner. This is just common sense so lets get it together! Stay away from the filet here and stick to the average Phở — it’s decent for the few choices of Vietnamese restaurants in the Coachella Valley.
