Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill

Horrible customer service! Manager or whom ever the white, blondish, older female in the green shirt was, is totally rude and needs to be trained in customer service, professionalism and she needs to be taught some manors. Today we walked in for a quick lunch before leaving town, i asked if the beans were peppery because last time we came in my daughter couldn’t eat her food because it was so hot. Then she said «oh you’re the one that complained last time». Yes I was, so the beans were covered in black pepper. Then she says that everyone else loves the beans, they follow the recipe every morning. Thats fine BUT I am mexican and I know how beans are supposed to be made. You don’t put a ton of pepper in the beans! Authentic fresh mexican grill… NOT. Thinking back to my time in San Felipe I cant remember having a cocky, rude and smirky order taker, I dont remember not being able to eat the sides to my tacos because they are so hot and all you taste is pepper.
So I asked this same rude snob if the «special» sauce was on all of the fish tacos (because it tastes like chewing tobacco) and she once again said «yes, its our famous sauce and everyone loves it». Mmm k? So because everyone who comes in either loves the sauce, doesn’t complain about it or tells someone else it is gross doesn’t mean your products aren’t any good. We waited about 15 minutes or so from when our order was placed until it was served. I ordered black beans and Mexican rice as the side to the street tacos because we all know what the refried beans taste like. Same thing happened! Black beans had way too much pepper, mexican rice was crusty in areas and unedible. The street tacos (steak) were AMAZING! *Hence the 2 stars*
The salsas are very good, limes are fresh and the beer selection is standard. I overheard the same snobby lady tell another person she wasn’t a dishwasher, when my husband said his shrimp tacos, my plate and the kids meal were not worth the $ 40 we spent she said that his wife (me) was the one that complained last time. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? I will be writing a detailed letter to the district manager, corporate offices and whom ever else I need to. The bus young lady was nice, it is not the line cooks fault the recipes are horrible.
Come here if you have been here before and find the food OK or if you LOVE black pepper or sauce that tastes like chewing tobacco. Do not come here if you want a baja mexican food place. Save your time and money… find another spot!

Worst ever !! Mahi was dry no flavor and the smoky shrimp was rubbery. Dinky little portions. Help indifferent when asked about missing item.
Don’t bother lots of better Mex in Palm Springs!

Luv Rubio’s! The taco especial is my favorite and rice and the beans taste great. Always consistent — always great service and CLEAN!

Always reliable and dependable fast food service with restaurant quality. The staff is quick and friendly at this location. Lunch time gets crazy here but they handle it with grace.

First time in this Rubios and very impressed! As Daisy smiled to greet and make me feel welcome! She took the time to answer menu questions with sincerity!
What impressed me the most is in many years of dinning from fast food to fine meal houses, Daisy took it upon herself to carry my tray to the table! A nice touch of hospitality!
The cooks burrito was good, fastly cooked but cooked good.
For style of restaurant this is good: ample seating, bathrooms, clean tables!

WOW! I had no idea this chain had such great tacos!
Was running around, and my friends wanted to go here and get tacos.
I ordered a «3 different» taco plate. One shrimp, yummy!, the other beer batter fish, also really good, and the third was a cajun spicy fish.
OK, I have to admit, I am not a big fan of chain restaurants, but this was surprisingly good. Fresh, quick, great service (even though they were closing!)
All this goodness for way under $ 20!

Just ate at this Rubios this evening. Hubby ordered the Friday special, 3 enchiladas, and I ordered the child’s chicken taquitos. My taquitos tasted like frozen ones you can get at the freezer case at Wap Mart. The chicken was not shredded, but smooshed. They were piping hot, and that was the only positive thing I can say about them. I tried salting them, added cillantro and onions, as well as dipping them into the tomatillo sauce that I added line juice to.
Hubby said his meal was bland and tasteless. It was $ 7.99 for 3 tiny enchilladas with salsa, and chips. No rice, no beans. He left hungry. My meal deal was a bit better. Mine came with chips and a drink for $ 4.99
I should add that my daughter in laws are from Mexico, so I know what GOOD Tex-​Mex should taste like.

Boaring, tasteless food, for to high a price. I mean, come on, how much can a side of rice and beans really set you back?
I don’t see us ever going back. There are so many good options, good Mexican restaurants around town, that have better testing food, and larger portions.

SO GOOD BUT LONG WAIT
It’s worth the wait. Trust.
Fish taco is always perfect. Large piece of crunchy fish and shredded cabbage and sauce. The fish is bigger than the tortilla!
Classic shrimp burrito is bomb. Lots of pieces of whole shrimp with rice and beans and yumminess!
Tip: if you eat light order the kids meal! Fish taco and two small sides (I usually get two rice) with a drink :)
The wait during lunch is bananas tho. See pic for proof.

The manager here is awesome so the place is clean and the food is consistent and fresh. Best use of time.

Good was great! Reminds me of Chipotle and Taco Del Mar but more options than TDM. I got a salad, the ranch one. It was really good. My boyfriend lovedddd the salsa. If your looking for quick yummy food I recommend this place! If you’re looking for sit down being waited on this is not the type.
