Maybe we went at the wrong time(Sunday evening, around 6pm), but we were not at all impressed. We were told that this is «the closest thing to authentic New York pizza». I guess that could be true if by «authentic New York pizza» they meant«larger crunchy Bagel Bites». People tell me I have to check it out again earlier in the day and order an actual pie versus getting whatever slices they have laying around to reheat. Maybe that was where I went wrong. Oh well.

Visited 6÷15÷16 Pepperoni Slices I’ve been wanting to try this place for about a month now. A very low key place and just a window that you walk up to. Staff were really nice with some outside sitting that share with other customers. Although I really don’t want to say this, but they completely got my order wrong and that’s the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars. I ordered a slice with Double Pepperoni(I know but that’s just what like) and received two slices of Pepperoni. Not a big deal, but I had to lower them down even thou they were really apologetic about it. Pepperoni Slices were really good and my second favorite in Southern California. The bread and crust tasted really good and had a nice crunch to it. The cheese although tasted good didn’t have that nice stretch to it, but the sauce was really tasty. Then the pepperoni was not your typical pepperoni. They were the smaller versions about a nickel in size and are called cupped pepperoni, although small in size did have a very good flavor. One good thing about getting the extra slice was that I got to see how the 2nd slice did after sitting a bit. If all the things that I liked about the first slice held up. Glad to say that there was just a little bit of softening in the crust, but that’s a pretty typical thing especially with a pepperoni slice. I can’t wait to come back and get my actual order and a margarita slice as well. I really did enjoy and will be back soon.

As a transplanted New York who was raised on pizza I’ve only found 1 place that comes even close and it’s Joe’s Pizza in Santa Monica until I had a slice from Pie Life. Anyone that wants to know what«New York style pizza» should come here. Now to see if they can make Sicilians and garlic knots…

Delicious NY style pies albeit a little pricey. If it was just a dollar cheaper per slice, it’d be perfect!

Pie Life Pizza reminded me that Pizza meant to be eaten by the slice(It has been few years since I had a pizza in New York, and here I just returned there for few bites ;). Cool people happy to work and love what they do. It can make any food establishment, Pizza or not better. The prices: As good as the Pizza is, and it is, the same way Pizza was meant to be eaten in slices, it wasn’t meant to cost $ 3 – 4. I am alright with paying for good food, and the pizza here is good. But I know that not all people can afford that. Good Pizza, cool place, smiling people, high prices.

Definitely a place to go if you’re craving a slice or two. Very fresh and tasty! You know it’s a good pizza when you can hold up a slice and it doesn’t sag! Bombilisious

I LOVETHISPIZZA! The crust is crisp, the toppings are placed on perfectly by hand, and it’s hand baked to perfection! This is a little shop off of Raymond, but they do a great business of New York style pizza only! No garlic knots, no pasta, just pizza. They sell it whole, or by the slice. Joseph and Erika are there ALLTHETIME, so they have this«pizza business» down pat. Give it a try. It will make you feel like you’re in New York!

Oh lord this is good pizza. I highly recommend eating it there. We were gonna take our pie home(we got the«Loaded» and were glad we did), but when a table opened up, we decided to just eat it there. I don’t see how you can speed home fast enough for it to still be good and hot, and I’m only like ten minutes away. Unfortunately there aren’t many seats, so maybe I’ll get individual slices next time in case we aren’t as lucky. At any rate, if what you’re looking for is fantastic, no-nonsense pizza, give this place a shot. Doubt you’ll be sorry.

woo hoo!!! finally. damn güd pizza slices in town. i’m so glad Pie Life opened up, and especially so that they did it right next to a beloved local coffee shop, that being Jones. it’s been a long time coming folks. these two things go so perfectly hand in hand. yes, literally, in this tiny pocket of the city. i had been anticipating trying Pie Life awhile ago, but always stumbled in the area when they were closed. i must have put my disappointment out of my mind and subconsciously given up at some point. but several weeks ago, found myself grabbing an iced mocha at Jones… and voila. Pie Life was open! coincidentally, i had been craving something savory and they had the perfect cure. they offered a wide variety of single slice choices, but i went for the WHITEPIZZA aka TOMATOBASIL. it was life changing. yes, if you’re a Pasadena local, it’s definitely changes your perspective, lifestyle… mood. outlook. that yeah, life might be OK!!! hahhaha… just kidding. we got it pretty good in the Dena, i can’t complain, but this just kicks things up a notch. so not only were the toppings on the WHITE really delicious, but there was something about the crust that i noticed. it had this light crunch. usually i expect chewy. or unfortunately you get cardboard ehhhh. but this was a refreshing change. i’m not talking about some of those cracker crust pizzas out there(i won’t name names). it’s light, tasty and also satisfying. this WHITEPIZZA is my favorite and go-to at Pie Life. slice of heaven. for Super Bowl, i took home the ARTICHOKEBURRATA and the WAREHOUSEPIES(pepp, sausage, mushroom, olive), which they were happy to sub out the olives for garlic. both scrumptious and crowd pleasers. PEPPERONI and PESTOTOMATO are also pretty bomb, hitting all my pizza loving spots. come to think of it, i think i love getting the slices here more than i do the whole pies. there’s something about re-heating the slice that brings out that crisp that i am so fond of. did talk to the owner about it. and she nodded. yep that crisp is due to no egg in the dough. so there ya go, these folks are making pies with tons of dough intelli for ya. the stuff is well thought out and no coincidence. service is happy and friendly. it is evident they love what they’re doing. and i’m in love with the notion that i can get artisan pizza in slices, cuz at times you just want that ONE slice. or two. off the beaten path, just low key goodness in the hood.

I love pizza. So when a fellow Unilocaler reached out about a great new pizza joint in Pasadena, I immediately wanted to try it. Well, actually, at first I was suspicious. I figured the guy who’d messaged me probably worked for Pie Life Pizza. But after he assured me that he did not, I called up the restaurant to order a ring of slices. To my horror, a machine answered and a recording told me that the restaurant was closed because the pizza maker had injured his hand. My hunger for the pizza increased by ten fold. I called back every day hoping the pizza maker’s hand had healed. Weeks passed and I only ever got the machine. I even called while my wife was in labor at the hospital across the street from the pizza place. I was obsessed and I hadn’t even tried it yet. On the day we left the hospital with our new baby, I called the pizza place and someone answered. I asked if the pizza maker was still injured and they told me that he was back to making pizzas. We picked up two pies that night. The location is a little hard to find. I drove past it a couple times. It’s a charming little place in the middle of a three-business strip. You can’t actually go inside. Instead you pick up the pizza from a window. If you want, they have a few small tables set up between the window and the parking lot. I took the pizzas home. When I finally bit into my first slice of Pie Life Pizza all I could do was smile. It was as close to NYC as I’ve tasted on the West Coast. Well worth the wait. The sauce has a lot of flavor, which is kind of a rarity around here. I feel like most California pizza places try their best to hide the sauce, either by painting on the thinnest layer possible, or by watering it into nonexistence. The cheese and dough taste like they’re made from the kind of ingredients that chain places can’t afford. If you’re looking for pizza like you’ll find on every corner of New York City, this place is a little better than that. I think they’d thrive even in the Big Apple.

I’m a transplanted new yorker, yeah, I’m that guy who says you haven’t had great pizza till you’ve had a slice on the streets of NYC with blaring cab horns, sirens and jackhammers in the background. I’ve lived here in LA for ten years now and at least once, every year, someone says they found the place that actually has great new york pizza. But every time I make the trek… I leave disappointed. That is until today. I took my daughter for a couple of slices, that they served through a window, at Pie Life Pizza. Wow! The second I looked at it, I had a good feeling… my twelve year old daughter took a bite before I did and the first words out of her mouth were, «oh my god, this is delicious». After folding my slice(My daughter thinks Mom and Dad are weird for doing that, but that’s how you eat a slice if you’re from back east, you fold it, it’s the law) and taking a bite, not only did I agree how amazing it was, it absolutely, truly, is a New York style slice of pizza. The extremely nice owners, Erica and Joseph have found that lightening in a bottle. If you’ve been searching for not only great pizza, but crave New York style pizza… look no further. You will finally, finally, find it here at Pie Life. Best part… no blaring horns, sirens or jackhammers in the background. Just the sounds of your fellow man digging awesome pizza!

After a Hectic Week, Hectic Weekend, all we want to do is curl up on the couch in front of a fire, watch the Golden Globes & eat some pizza(ok, so its me that wants to watch the Golden Globes). On our way home from a party, husband and I found this place thru Unilocal.Husband called ahead to place our order. We almost passed it because there’s no sign from the street and its located amongst a bunch of warehouses on Raymond. Its a tiny parking lot shared with some other businesses, but on Sunday evening, it was easy to grab a spot. Its just a walk up window, but there are some high top tables outside to stand and eat. While waiting for our pizza, we grabbed a couple of sodas and chit chatted w/Erica & Joseph(owners?). They were super cool & friendly. They’ve been open only a couple of months and have done no advertising, so their name has spread«organically» or thru Unilocal.Haha! So we raced home with our Loaded Pie(pepperoni, sausage, onion, green bell, olives, mushrooms & garlic). Grabbed a slice and was delighted by this NY Style Pizza. What was supposed to be just 1 slice turned into 2 slices, etc. Hubby LOVED it. Thus, we’ll be back.

It was lunch time, and I was starving at my doctor’s office. Had my annual physical and blood work so I haven’t had anything to eat since the night before. I found Pie Life Pizza on Unilocal while at the doctor’s, and I was pretty excited that it was really close and that it has amazing reviews. Ended up being disappointed with Pie Life Pizza however, and my rating is 3 stars overall. Ordered the two-slice pizza lunch deal with a bottled water for $ 8.50(4 stars). Pretty reasonable for the price for a good amount of food for lunch! Also, the staff was pretty welcoming and friendly(4 stars). I felt very much at ease even though it was just my first visit. Not all the pizzas on the menu though were available by the slice, so I ended up choosing the White Pie Pizza and the Meaty Pizza. Would have loved to have tasted the BBQ Chicken Pizza, but it was not available(2 stars). To me, the pizzas at Pie Life tasted okay, but seemed little dry and lacked a little fat(2 stars). Perhaps a little drizzle of olive oil? Out of the two pizzas that I tried, I think the Meaty Pizza was the better choice compared to the White, but I also felt that it wasn’t meaty enough. Mamma’s Brick Oven Pizza in South Pasadena is still my top choice for New York style thin crust pizza. The pizzas at Pie Life Pizza tasted like healthier versions of Mamma’s Brick Oven Pizza( ). If I’m eating pizza, I want to feel like I’m eating something I really shouldn’t, not a healthy-tasting pizza. Willing to come back however and give Pie Life another chance. Maybe the other pizzas will change my mind.

First timer and I am hooked! We got to the spot pretty close to closing time, so the options was limited. I was so happy to see that they did still have a slice of white pizza left! The other option was cheese but since the honey wanted protein, the nice peeps here topped the cheese with pepperoni. The smell will want you to eat a whole pie by yourself. But this time, I just settled for two slices. The menu looked so good and I can’t want to go back to try the other options. The crust was light and flaky. The flavor was on point. I usually eat slow but I sure inhaled my two slices quick! No greasy after taste. It was pure perfection! As soon as walked up to the order window, we were greeted warmly. We felt like we belong here and this is the right pizza place for us. We had a whole convo going on and it’s not just about pizza! Parking is shared with Jones Coffee or street.

Delish! I know where we’ll be ordering a pie from when in the Pasadena area. Pie Life! So good! We ordered a couple slices over the weekend when stopping off at Jones for a latte, next door. The White Pie(olive oil, mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, basil, garlic) is fantastic! The Meaty(pepperoni, sausage, meatball, mozzarella, house sauce) was good too, but I don’t think we had a meatball and the pepperoni weren’t abundant on our slice, perhaps it wasn’t the best slice representation of this option. If I had to choose one over the other to order an entire Large(NY style 8 slices) I’d go White Pie for sure. The crust is so good, and I’m not usually a crust person at all. I’m definitely more of a toppings lover but the crust really stands out to me here. The staff were very friendly, the super cute pie garland around the window, want! Looking forward to returning and o picking up for pizza night at home. Good stuff! Check them out!

To me, a cheese pizza is like a glazed donut. It’s simple, it’s plain but if done right it can BLOWYOURMIND and can make or break your establishment. This cheese pizza I just put in my mouth, has made this place and this place has just made a phenomenal piece of pizza. My kiddos were waiting for me in the car and ALL they want in life… …is cheese pizza so I’m soooo glad I ordered a slice of BBQ Chicken to go with the cheese pie. I absolutely LOVED the BBQ Chicken Slice. Loved it. And the kiddos loved the cheese. They said Word for word that«this pizza is right under yours Dad» which basically means that they über duber loved it and they are the pickiest eaters alive. My harshest critics without a doubt so kudos Pie Life for pleasing the lil ones. When the crust is floppy you don’t expect a crunch when you bite in but boom snap that’s what I got. A firm yet thin and super delicate crunch on the bottom but a chewy middle and flavorful BBQ sauce that was just right. Not too sweet but not too tangy. Just right. The pizza sauce, which they make in house daily along with the the crust(where they make it I don’t know the place is literally a hole in the wall lol) but man they make the hell outta of it. I do like a sweeter sauce on my cheese pizzas but they make theirs with no added sugars and still managed to make me smile as I chewed or chew as I smile whatever’s first. Bottom line great joint and quaint location makes for a niche pizza spot for those Saturday night munchie attacks on yo belly!

Pie life pizza is a unique little establishment next to the popular Pasadena gem Jones Coffee. Not your typical pizza joint, it is meant to be authentic NY style pizza served NY style fast and through a window! Now, don’t expect a fancy gourmet pizza, Pie Life offers a more authentic take on pizza that is simple yet delicious with very original flavors done right. The person working at the time was very friendly and had a very genuine vibe that made this place seem even more welcoming and showed that they care a lot about the pizza they make. I ordered a slice of the tomato basil and my bf got a slice of one with pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives although I’m forgetting the name of that one. I don’t even like pepperoni but I love the small ones they put on this pizza slice. Now for me, crust is everything for a pizza, and this type of crust is thin and crispy. They cook the crust very well in my opinion and because it’s thin, it may get a little flimsy but not really a big deal. I wish they could have put a tad more sauce on the slice that I got, but I think the cheese and crust were perfect. I definitely would come back and try other slices or maybe get a whole pie. But for those curiously eyeing that pizza box that seems to be sticking out of a wall, don’t be afraid to order a slice through the window and taste the wonders of Pie Life for yourself!

NY style pizza in a husband and wife small business on a side steer in Pasadena, close to Goldline. Yes please. They are very niche, if you like NY style and the perfect texture crust and a thin style pizza you bend to eat, run don’t walk here. The owners are very friendly and always there, so quality will not be compromised and you always know what you will get. They sell by the slice or pie, one size fits all. Call ahead and order. Support local by going here.
