Not a happy amigo… The food was just average. We had purchased a Groupon for $ 11 for $ 20 in food. We presented the Groupon before we ordered. On Thursdays kids eat free. We where told that we can use the Groupon and the kids meal would still be free. That was far from the truth. After are dinner we where presented our bill. The kids meal was no longer free in fact if can out to almost nine dollars with the drink. We purchased fajitas, combo meal, and a kids meal. 3 sodas. And a ice cream. Our bill Was $ 49 — 20 for the Groupon. $ 29+ tip. So $ 59 over priced, not worth it for out of the box and can food. The worst thing was being lied too.

I’ve been coming here since it opened about 30 years ago. Food has been consistently delicious for 3 decades. I especially love coming here for brunch on Saturdays. The Huevos Ranchos are amazing. I also love that they’ve always catered to vegetarians even before it was the trendy thing to do. Their sister restaurant in Hartland has a little better ambiance and outdoor seating but I find the food and service is a little bit better here even though the recipes are essentially the same.

THEE worst so called fine«Mexican» food ever! They serve you refried bean from a can. Who does that?!! Any self respecting Mexican would never serve canned beans! We had asada tacos, chicken tacos and ground beef tacos(disgusting) which by the way were served with lettuce tomatoes and cheese… REALLY??! No disrespect to anyone but this place caters strictly to those who do not know AUTHENTIC Mexican food! Note to the owners: your Abuelita would be pissed to know your serve this crap! Street tacos do not come with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Get it right idiots! I’m a Mexican and know the difference between real homemade beans and canned beans. How disappointed I am with your so called fine Mexican food! I wouldn’t even let my dog eat that crap! Rant over.

First off the chips were not fresh and warm as if they just dumped them from a bag into a bowl and served them to us. Ordered the chicken tacos and they were absolutely horrible. They were whipped up in some red sauce that should be used for beef or pork. I was forcing myself to eat them when I took another bite a HAIR came out of my taco. It was the most disgusting thing that has ever happened to me. When I told them what happened the manager was extremely rude and was rolling her eyes and was trying to convince me that it was MYOWNHAIR. When I knew that was not the case because my hair was up in a bun. Also the place was decorated horribly and the walls were painted with really bad murals and was not a visual appealing place that I would want to go eat my food. I had an uneasy feeling from the start.

Stopped here for lunch to have some tacos, and I was very happy we did. The service was quick, the prices were to be expected, and the quality of food was excellent. Definitely an average looking place in a strip mall, but the tacos we had were definitely above average. A good lunch option! We will come back for those reasons; fast, inexpensive, and great tacos!

I found Taco Amigo to have good food but I thought it was too pricey for Mexican, especially when Plaza Garibaldi is nearby and cheaper. I got the enchiladas and my boyfriend got the burrito. The burrito was huge and the enchiladas were good. We typically get a couple tacos each when we get Mexican, but we found their taco prices a little pricey and you couldn’t get them a la carte; you had to get the beans and rice.

For dinner they have great food, with very original dishes rather than the standard Mexican Restaurant fare that we are all used to. Creativity gets a 9−10÷10 at this place. And the taste is excellent. The prices are accordingly a little bit higher, but you get what you pay for, and it is worth it. Ambience is pretty good, and the server lady is always nice. Lunch time is a different animal here; and although we’ve only tried it twice, it seems kind of odd to us. You order at the counter, rather than the table, of items on a board above the register area. And you pick up the trays of food when your name is called. The food is more standard Mexican Restaurant fare at that time. Its almost like there are two restaurants sharing the same space, one for lunch, one for dinner. We greatly prefer dinner there.

I simply love this restaurant. I’ve always been a fan of Mexican food and Milwaukee surprised me in the quality of Mexican restaurants. Taco Amigo is one of the best finds this side of Waukesha. The food is consistently great. Plus, I used to live in Austin and finding true Tex-Mex is nearly impossible outside of Texas. Taco Amigo has a couple of great Tex-Mex dishes that remind me of home.

Stopped by for lunch and tried the fish taco plate… It was delicious. The sauce on the tacos went perfect with the fish. I washed the food down with an orchata, let’s just say I took one to go… it was sooo good! I don’t usually trust restaurants inside a strip mall but this one is a hidden gem. I’ll def be back, they have unique items on the menu that I can’t wait to try.

Great authentic Mexican food at a very reasonable price. Love the weekly specials! I got the surf and turf tacos, they were soooo good! I’ve never seen them offered at any other Mexican restaurant. Come here if you like traditional Mexican food, and unique items too. There is something for everyone to enjoy! If you are in a hurry they have a secret little too go window at the backlog the building.

To be honest, I had written this place off years ago. We sat for 20 mins once without being served(it wasn’t even busy) and we decided we didn’t need to come back again. Well tonight I wanted to try again and I’m glad I did. Fast and friendly service, good food(not west coast or Texas good, but good for around Wisconsin). The chips and salsa are tasty(also a favorite and important thing for me at any Mexican. Overall I’m really happy and will return again!

Great little Mexican restaurant with fast and friendly service. If you’re looking for something a bit more authentic than the regular national chain(qDoba or Chipotle) with quick turnaround, this is your spot. I really like their verde sauce as an adder to the chips and salsa. Location was initially a turn off, but the food is great. Highly recommend.

In a strip mall, by H&R Block(by Pick N Save lot), sits this little gem. It’s nicer inside than it appears from first glance. Good variety of options, including build-your-own combo plates. There’s a SUPER tasty vat of spicy pickled veggies sitting on the counter — if you like it hot, as I do, add some of these to your plate. So good. Tamales are actually pretty decent here, too — not dry & mealy(but a little small, too)…I was, overall, pretty pleased. Good Jarritos selection, as well. Not a ton of seating inside, but room to bring some of your own amigos.

What a wonderful place. The best salsa around town. Although they are in a strip mall environment the place is awesome. You will love the authentic food! …and the margaritas are delish

They have great food but the prices are high for what I am used to paying at a Mexican restaurant! Should have a 2 $ rating instead of 1.

Consistently good Mexican style staples … Haven’t tried the more«exotic» entrees. Family friendly, good in house or to go. We return every couple of weeks.

Each time we’ve been here has been a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and they have traditional fare as well as very tasty dishes I haven’t seen anywhere else. Delicious homemade salsa, great combo platters and attentive service. Only critiques are lack of water without asking, chips are already on the table(not sure when they were put there) and paper napkins for the prices they list. Would have expected cloth napkins.
