In town on business and always looking for small places to check out, and I am glad we found this place to grab some lunch. It was a little confusing at first as to what to do; sit down, start at the buffet, pay for the buffet, or what, but once the guy gave us instruction to just hit up the buffet we were good to go. Not many options, and whole lot of sauces offered for some reason, but all the food we had was really good. We were a little skeptical at first, but our minds quickly changed. The server /guy who appeared to be the owner was working his tail off to make sure everyone was getting what they needed. The place was actually pretty crowded. Very clean and it is a comfortable environment. Nothing special, but not needed. We were in and out of there super fast with some good food in our stomachs. I would definitely go back.

Do not overlook this restaurant because of the strip mall location, it is amazing! As a vegetarian who loves General Tso’s, all I have to do is call and ask for General Tso’s Tofu, which isn’t on the menu, and they have no problem making it. It is one of the better GT tofu that I have had from any Asian restaurant. My only negatives are that you can’t order online because they don’t have a website and they don’t have any vegetable base soups(vegetable/tofu soup). But I find these negatives minor enough to still rave about them.

We were in the area today and decided to give them a try. As others have said, this place is very low key being in a strip mall and very small with only about 12 to 15 tables. It was a chilly and damp day so, when the door would open, we all felt the chill for a minute or so. We went at the height of the lunch rush and the place had no open tables which I read as a sign that the food must be good. Most of the people around us were enjoying the Chinese Buffet which looked very fresh and I think was less than $ 8 a person. We wanted to try Malaysian which we had never tasted before. The closest type of food we had to this in the past was Indonesian. I later had to look Malaysia up on the map to see where it is in South Asia and I can see why there is influence of Thai, Indian, and other Asian cultures in the food. Let me cut to the chase and say, the food was outstanding as was the service. A table quickly opened up so we did get a table. Our waitress was possibly one of the owners and she was as sweet and efficient as can be. We started with a Thai egg roll which was hot and contained very fresh ingredients and it came with a sweet/slightly spicy dipping sauce. I could have made a meal of the Thai egg rolls but glad I didn’t. For entrees we had Rendang Chicken which is accompanied with rice. Also had Laksa Curry which is a noodle soup in coconut milk with shrimp, chicken and I believe tofu. Yummy on both. I was a bit more partial to the Rendang. Very reasonably priced. I wish they would make a bigger deal of the fact that they are likely the only restaurant in SEWI that serves Malaysian Food but I know that Chinese and Thai food are much more popular. Yummy for my tummy!

Ate here while in town for some training. We will definitely be back when we return in 3 weeks. It’s small and in a strip mall but SO yummy. I had the panang curry and spring rolls. The chicken was really tender and I loved the curry. My coworker had the chicken and broccoli in their homemade peanut sauce, which also came with the spring rolls– it was wonderful! YUM!

I had seen the reviews for a while and when my wife said on a whim, «Let’s get Chinese.», we went. We were happy we did. When you go it, it looks like any other strip mall Chinese place. After we sat, a guy came in, sat down, and almost immediately left. Too bad. We started with the typical egg rolls and crab rangoon. Both seemed to be hand-made and fried extra crispy. With sweet and sour that was made with pineapple and maybe a bit of orange, we knew we were in the right place. My wife had the sweet and sour shrimp. It’s been a while since we’ve had it with pineapple and peppers, but it was nice to see. The sauce was authentic sweet and sour. The shrimp were big, fresh, and delicious. I got the Malaysian Chicken Curry and was very impressed. It was the right mix of spice without being overpowering. We’re definitely fans. I grabbed a takeout menu and noticed they have a lunch buffet during the week. I’ll be happy for this work lunch.

I came in to this on a Monday around 6pm. The place had about half of dozen people inside. I waited about five minutes just for someone to come to the front to place my order. I order some beef lo mien and took a seat. 15 min passed and my food was ready. I live about 3 min from this place so I was surprised when I took a bite to see that the noodles where luke warm. I looked inside the styrofoam and notice the lack of condensation that build up on the roof. The sauce was probably better chill than hot. The meat was rubbery. I don’t think I’ll come back any time soon.

Easily the best Asian food in area. Everything good but love their dishes with curry and coconut milk. Lunch buffet has limited items but quality.

This is some of the best Asian food in SE Wisconsin, and by far the best in the Waukesha area. I rarely ever order anything but the Singapore noodles, which are definitely some of the best I’ve ever had. But their Chinese fried chicken, sesame chicken, and and piña colada smoothies are also fantastic.

REALLY excellent food and a very unique menu. A great little find that should definitely not be judged by its appearance/location within the strip mall. So glad we found this affordable and delicious place.

Good eats. The volcano chicken is good, but is filled with lettuce and veggies in the bottom of the takeout. The veggies I could do less of, so that’s the only reason this is a 4 stars. I have yet to try the other dishes. Will let you know how those go. Have a great time at Mr. wok. Good people.

Not your from a box, served on Styrofoam, plastic utensils kind of place. I was impressed. This place should be big with more employees and not in a strip mall. Yum.

I went back for dinner with a couple of friends tonight. I can’t believe it’s been more than 2 years since my last(and first) visit. I love finding small places like this in a strip mall and being rewarded with great food. We went specifically for the Malaysian menu items because I only know of two places to get Malaysian food, Peking Chef and Mr. Wok. We started with couple of orders of Roti Chanai($ 4.55 each), which I had on my first visit here. The roti was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside and the side of curry with chicken and potato was still as delicious as the first time I had it. Two pieces of roti come folded up per order. My photo from tonight shows 4 pieces(two orders). The entrees arrived almost simultaneously. The Rendang Beef($ 11.95) was quickly followed by the Malaysian Curry Chicken($ 10.95) and the Mee Goreng($ 9.30). The Beef Rendang was garnished with cucumber slices and served with steamed white rice, as the Rendang Chicken was on my last visit, but this dish wasn’t spicy like the Rendang Chicken was last time. The beef was tender and the sauce was delicious, but I didn’t notice any familiar flavors to the Rendang Chicken. Again, the Rendang Beef was very good, just very different from the Rendang Chicken dish I had, which was also very good, but had a kick to it. Maybe the toned down the heat of all of their spicy dishes. The Malaysian Curry Chicken consists of chicken chunks and potatoes in a curry with coconut milk. It is also served with steamed white rice. The chicken was tender and not dry, and the curry and coconut milk combo provided a nice flavor. Finally, the Mee Goreng had a pepper symbol on the menu, so I expected some heat with this noodle dish served with bean sprouts, scallions, onions, cilantro, tofu, potatoes, and topped with a fried egg. There were some red chili flakes to provide a little heat, but you needed a bite with the flakes. Overall, the dish was pretty mild. We weren’t asked if we wanted any dishes hot or mild. All were mild. All dishes were also excellent. I think they would make a dish spicy if we had asked for it that way. There were at least 5 or 6 other Malaysian dishes on the menu, which is more than my last visit. One of my friends is Malaysian so she identified the dishes for us. There are many places to get Southeast Asian food and even more places to get Chinese food. All of those cuisines are on this menu, but the Malaysian dishes are what bring me here. I haven’t had the Chinese, Thai or Laotian dishes on the menu, so I’m I feel obligated to leave the 4 Star rating, even though they deserve 5 Stars for the Malaysian food alone. Hopefully it won’t take 2 years to come back and try the other cuisines on this menu.

Usually«Pan Asian» is synonymous for, not very good. Think about it, the term as adjusted for North America, what would«Pan-American» cuisine look like? It would be Applebee’s, or Taco Bell. Well here, it’s camouflage for an authentic Malaysian restaurant. This is the best and only authentic Malaysian restaurant in Southeast Wisconsin. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic nation with many cuisine influences, Penang in Chicago does a better job in offering a wide range of Malaysian dishes, but it’s an unfair comparison in that Penang is upscale and much more expensive than this humble strip mall location. It reminds me of the only authentic Sri Lankan restaurant in the USA that’s not in NYC, KJs Curry Bowl in Madison. Like KJs, Mr. Wok avoids overt evidence that it’s an authentic Malaysian restaurant, self-describing somewhat deceptively as «pan-Asian,» and«Chinese.» There are many Malaysian people who are ethnically Chinese, but the Chinese dishes here aren’t Malay style, they are Americanized Cantonese, they look and smell adequate and forgettable. KJs does the same thing, there’s a section of authentic Sri Lankan that they just call«curries,» amidst a hodgepodge of sort of Asian dishes like«teriyaki,» so you have to know what the Sri Lankan stuff is. I grew up in a home that sometimes had Sri Lankan food, an eat with your right hand cuisine, and sometimes Japanese food, a chopsticks cuisine. We were initially baffled in Kuala Lumpur where people sometimes used chopsticks, sometimes the right hand, sometimes spoons. A helpful native who traveled advised«the food that came from China, like noodles, we use chopsticks and spoons, but Roti came across the Indian ocean, we eat that by hand.» Mr. Wok also serves some Thai and Laotian dishes, which look and smell good, maybe even authentic, but you can get good Thai and Laotian elsewhere(well maybe not if you live right by here). It’s a long trip here from Milwaukee proper, but it is so worth it for the Malay food, and there’s no place like it around. After my fourth visit they finally started kicking up the spice level. I recommend the roti cania, mee goreng, beef rendang and curry laksa.

The reviews here were high, so have it a try. My sister was in the mood for Chinese and I was craving some curry. As we pulled up, we saw a very underwhelming location in the middle of a strip mall. Décor was to match — the reason I went down a star. The four stars are all about the service and food. Awesome! Food could not have been better, loved all the dishes we ordered. Server was very nice and prompt. Not a romantic/ambiance sort of place but perfect for delicious take out or a casual hole-in-the-wall dinner! Much better than the average Chinese take out!

As far as cheesey dumpy strip mall thai food places go this one ROCKS!!! I trusted my fellow Unilocalers and boy we’re they on point. Place was busy with blue hairs that congested the place by asking too many dumb american questions. The menu is set up for the mentally slow with pictures in the first half with names that correlate to the menu at the back… simple as that people. The fried rice and the curried foods along with the Rottis and the papaya salad was incredible, flavorful, and fresh. The food came out quickly, even though on a Saturday night they seemed to be doing a ton of take out as well. Two young teenage boys ran the dining room, and were fantastic. The prices are cheap and the portions are generous and they don’t skimp on meat for carnivores like me. I will definitely return… soon.

Came across this place when we thought of venturing out to try out Malaysian food in Milwauke. Having said that we couldn’t find a lot of Malaysian places around . I was skeptical at first when i walked in to this place. Very small place in a strip mall with couple of cheap tables and chairs that could maybe sit 20 people in total. Anyhow, we wanted to try out the Malaysian dishes. Pork dumplings(to really malays. Speciality) — was really good Beef Rang dang– was tasty however, a tad bit too sweet for my pallet Fish curry– was soo delishcious. I usually don’t eat fish in these type of places. But sure am glad i tried it Beef fried rice– was large portions and was good Kan kung– was the nights hit. Everyone loved it! Will return to try out some of the other Malaysian dishes they offer
