Wow can’t order what is on the menu! Owner won’t allow it! Also really love to order my food from a screen! One star because I could not give the a negative 5 stars! I am so glad there is an In ‘n Out in the same place!

What?!? There is a Schlotzky’s in Placerville? Well ok! Off we went for a slightly longer than usual lunch. I had not eaten at a Schlotzky’s in at least 15 years or more and honestly didn’t even know they still existed until my co-worker suggest a little drive for lunch. With fond memories of their fresh bread and yummy lean pastrami I was in, and I was not disappointed. I went with a pastrami Reuben, while my co worker had a turkey and avocado. We were both very happy with our sandwiches and mine was just as good as I remembered. They also offer flatbreads, pizzas and salads so there is a variety for everyone. This location also offers fresh Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, as well as Carvel’s ice cream(which I also hadn’t seen in years!) I was full up from my sandwich but next time I will be having a sweet treat in addition to a tasty sandwich.

We stopped off here on the way up to Tahoe. It’s the only Schlotzsky’s in the area so we had to try it. The original sandwich is absolutely amazing. Plus they have one of those soda machines where you can pick your mix. They also had a soft serve machine but we didn’t try that. Too bad they don’t have any more locations in the Bay Area or Santa Cruz.

This is the first visit for me. I went with my wife while she was on her 30 minute lunch. They might have been short staffed that day but it took over 30 minutes to get our order filled. It seem disorganized and chaotic. When we finally received our sandwich it didn’t taste that great. There are better alternatives for lunch in Placerville. I wouldn’t go back.

Driven by this place a hundred times on the way to in and out, today was a «sandwichy» kind of day… Kind of a quirky place, you can get a killer sandwich, some soft serve, and a Cinnabon all on the same tab! I had the cranberry Apple chicken salad with a cup of tomato basil. Plus a fiesta chicken sandwich. Plus a Cinnabon! Everything was delicious especially the jalapeño bread that my sandwich came one. I had the red wine dressing with the salad, it came in a small cup so one can choose how ‘wet’ they like their salad. It was a pretty good salad for a off the highway kind of place! The place was clean, the one girl at the counter working on2/4/15 at 3pm was very nice and helpful. I’ll come back for sure!

I could think of 10 other sandwich shops in the area that are better with friendlier people. The sandwich itself was 90% bread and dry and the lady taking our order had no desire to explain to us what comes on the sandwich or answer any questions. They did give us two small sandwiches since they were out of medium wheat bread(at 11:20 on a Friday) so that was nice but the sandwiches weren’t good!

I love Schlotsky’s and was excited to try this one, but the policy was awful. I ordered a medium veggie sandwich with no spicy ranch, then asked for pickles and regular ranch on the side. The associate in the front radioed to the person in the back(it was her first day) that I wanted plain ranch, on the side. The«special instructions» area only allows for 18 characters, so I had it as «PKLSRNCHONSID,» though I also verbally confirmed, and heard it radioed. The sandwich came with the spicy ranch on it. I told the person in the front, and she took the sandwich in the back and came back. All the while the associate was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She returned, and told me that she knew that I had written the note and she acknowledged that she had also told the girl in the back, but that, «I’m sorry, our policy is you’ll still have to purchase another sandwich to make it right. We can’t just replace this one.» I thought she was kidding, but no: I would have had to pay for another $ 6 sandwich, not getting the original back, in order to get the sandwich I actually wanted and had ordered. It’s absolutely ridiculous that the restaurant made the error, and that I was going to have to purchase another sandwich to get the one I had ordered correctly in the first place. Absolutely horrible policy.

I ordered a half a turkey and avocado sandwich with cup of soup. The soup was fine. I don’t know where they get their turkey, but it is smoked with a terrible flavor – and it’s just advertised as «turkey.» Such a bad chemical taste that I wanted to spit out the bite I took. I took the half sandwich back and said it was awful and I couldn’t eat it and asked for a different half sandwich. They said sure – if you pay for another half a sandwich. Really? That’s how you treat your customers? So I gave them the sandwich and said they could throw it away and I wasn’t going to pay for another sandwich. I won’t be going back if that’s how they treat their customers.

This is supposed to be a fast food restaurant. We’ve been here for 20 minutes and have yet to see our food, simple order a salad and sandwich. We’ve seen people come in after us and get their food. Very disappointed with the service. I could have gone to a regular restaurant if I wanted to wait this long. I know you don’t wait that long for the drive thru. We just got our food. …25 minutes! Ridiculous! 3 small pieces of chicken on my salad, dressing is so sweet it hurts my teeth. This is our first time here, I’ll never come back

food takes plastic here. the sauce in this sand“wich is overpoweringly sugary sweetness on cheesy crispy bread which I would have enjoyed on a different type of sandie. lack of inside content for how overpriced. staffers were sweet… cant believe this many people are fans. maybe I should have tried the pizza.

I came up from the here for business so had to eat lunch here and got my old favorite chicken and jalapeño cheese bread. It was great I just hope they open one closer.

Schlotzky’s has the BEST bread. Crisp, fresh, and warm and a variety of options to complement their sandwiches — so good! Beyond the bread, options are plentiful and extend into the pizza & salad categories as well, both of which are also mouthwatering. The meats are plentiful and all of the ingredients just taste fresh and delicious. A definite improvement over any Subway, I would say. Like many other posters, long ago there used to be a location in Sacramento and I’ve certainly missed it. That said, I can’t help but feel this place would be better suited by a standalone location — in it’s current location it just seems kind of «half a restaurant» and friends riding through to Tahoe with me are less eager to give it an honest shot. All the same, for those who have tried it I’ve made converts and eager fans to revisit. It’s just a great stop to make for a quite bite, even if you’re just take on the road to go wherever you may be headed! While the restaurant seems clean and well kept but I’ve had issues with them starting to close up early. I’m addicted to my iced tea — if you’re open, you better have some available or I’m going to be pretty peeved!

Yah. I am a fan of Schlotzsky’s. Mainly because they’re a bit different. I will agree(as others have written), there are a couple things about this location that aren’t very friendly. I’m up in Placerville a few times a month and only occasionally do I stop in here for a bite. First off, I alway order the same thing. Probably one of the only food places where I don’t venture into new things. For me, it’s always a medium original on sourdough. The bread is their original style and slightly crispy on the outside and airy inside(the bread). The amount of sandwich insides is just right for me; a nice balance. I’m not a fan of sandwiches that squish apart when you take a bite. I can eat this sandwich on the go while driving… carefully. My wife the other night ordered the turkey on sourdough and added avocado. Her first visit. I agree with her that the smokey flavor of the turkey is a bit not-real(it’s processed turkey). It was a bit odd. So, as far as the food goes, it’s always good to me. Now, the ordering here is weird and reminiscent of an automat(not that I’m old enough to remember those. Seen them on TV). Two touchscreens at the counter to order from and pay. Not very useful actually. I used them once and since then I just stand there until a human pops out and takes my order. The counter is very crowded with a large cold display case and Cinnabon display warmer. There’s maybe a foot and a half on each side where the touchscreens are. I do not recommend the drive-thru. It also has one of those touchscreen and payment devices. Again… just sit there and idle until a human voice greets you. The drive-thru can be kinda slow. I used the drive-thru once and learned not to used it again. Only took me once. If you’ve not had a Schlotsky’s sandwich, it’s worth stopping in and trying. There aren’t any others around and not sure how long this one will last.

This my second visit here. I ordered one of their classic sandwiches the first time. The turkey sandwich was mediocre and not the best I have had. I figured the next time I came here I would try one of their pizzas. So I ordered the Margherita pizza on the Artisian flatbread. The pizza did not take too long to be handed to me in the drive through, which was nice.(I figured a pizza would take a while.) Now I’ve had pizza guys before as well as little Cesar’s which has always been horrible. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box to see this nicely prepared flatbread! The size of the pizza was larger than I had anticipated, perfect for dinner. It also had a fresh balsamic smell when opening the box. The first bite was of a sweet balsamic sauce(which I smelled), yummy cheese and sundried tomatoes! The crust was nicely crispy and fresh as well. I ate the whole thing! From now on I will be coming here for the pizzas! I have yet to go inside and try out the nifty soda machine I have heard about. One day soon :)

According to Schlotzsky’s webpage for this Placerville location, hours of operation Sunday through Saturday is from 10am to 10pm. We pulled into the parking lot to a closed Schlotzsky’s, lights off and not a single person inside. Apparently they close at 9pm on a Saturday. Schlotzsky’s, please update the information on your website!

The short: I drove all the way to Placerville just for a taste of my younger years in the form of a good toasted sourdough sandwich. The long: I was actually a little thrilled to see there was a Schlotzsky’s somewhere near where I resided so I made the trek out to get some lunch. I was disappointed to see it is a hybrid gas station location and it had the strangest way of ordering food. A touchscreen that sent my order off to for all I know the land of Oz where munchkins made my sandwich. No way to personalize anything or make any requests which kind of sucked. When my food came out it was okay but not as good as I remember it. The bread was not fully toasted and the cheese wasn’t even melted. If things would have been done right I would come back more often as it was I will only stop if I am in the area and in need of food. What works: Who doesn’t like a sandwich the size of a grown man’s head now and then? What to improve: The stupid push-button ordering system and quality of product

well I totally thought this place was going to be completely ghetto because it’s attached to an Ampm, however it’s pretty rad! I gave Andre a complete interrogation because I was convinced their food had to be microwaved but he was hilarious and made me feel at ease that it was fresh and delicious. well done schlotsky’s — you hired a wonderful employee with Andre.(: As far as the food, I’m not sure yet. However their Cinnabons are sugar high perfection and I will be back next week for their chicken pesto pizza. The restaurant itself is super colorful, bright, and inviting! Great first impression!(:

On our way up to Tahoe we made a pit stop to grab some grub, stretch, and use the facilities. Originally we stopped to get in and out burgers but saw this place and decided to try it. My husband was familiar with the chain but I had never heard of it and was all for trying something new. The menu was a little hard to read as it literally moves and changes images(tv screens). But they have a touch screen on the counter that you can order from that seemed a lot more helpful. I ordered a small pastrami on sourdough. Overall I thought the sandwich was just ok. Bread was crispy but not fantastic. Pastrami was good but a small portion. And for just under $ 6 all you get is the small sandwich. I think that’s a little steep. I’m glad that we did try Schlotzsky’s. Overall the experience was good. The deli is clean and updated. Staff are very nice. I just wasn’t floored by the product.

I can’t even begin to count the number of detours I’ve made over the years to get to the Schlotsky’s in the food court in the mall in Bakersfield which, sadly up until now, was the closest one to the area. I for one have been a life long fan and would put the Original with it’s grandiose sourdough bun, three meats, three melted cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, mustard and secret original sauce, up against any sandwich anywhere. For all of the praise I have for the sandwich, I do have have a complaint about this particular location due to their automated ordering process. I realize that automation is becoming another part of our world everyday, but I am not ready to order my sandwich by touchscreen. Especially not when the automation becomes a 20 step, five minute process to order a #1, medium sized, everything on it for dine it. I think the launch sequence for Apollo 11 took less steps than ordering a #1. On that note, I’m really not a fan of the Futurama coke machine either. The 52 flavor options for a simple coke completely consumed the two teenage boys in front of me on my last visit and provided a great test to my impatient personality that was already well worn from the ordering process. I just finished visit four, the second of the day, and I am ever so thankful that I will probably never have another reason for an ever so joyous trip to the fabulous Bakersfield mall. Between the sandwiches and the drawn out ordering and soda process, this place seems to stay packed.

Well alrighty then! A few goofy sayings on the door to make you laugh on the way in, then you’re greeted by the nice lady cleaning tables and a retro looking coke machine. Later you’ll find out it’s not so retro and actually has a touch screen with a bajillion sodas to choose from. Venture on passed there and you’ll have a choice to make. Choice 1) go into the line with all those people so you can talk to the nice person taking your order… or… Choice 2)… what in the world is this thing. Oh well looky here it’s a touch screen ordering system that has a picture of everything on the menu! Neato! So we order our sandwiches. There’s plenty to choose from at a reasonable price. Then you can choose your bread! I went with jalepeno cheese, my wife went with the wheat. We both got Roast Beef and cheese sandwiches. From there there are tons of choices to make, mustard, light mayo, chipotle mayo, pickles, peppers, onion, olives, cucumber, tomato. At first after ordering. I was wondering. It’s a little more than your $ 5 foot long. My wife’s small sandwich was $ 5.69, my medium sandwich was $ 6.69. So I was a little skeptical, what can I say I’m a cheapo at heart. But all that was whisked away when they brought out my sandwich. It is stacked up pretty good with fillings, made just how I ordered it. And they include a pickle on the side! The bread was absolutely amazing! I loved every bite of it! Food was great. Place was clean. Staff was very friendly. Location is a little odd… but it works. I’ll still hit up Safeway and Subway for sandwiches when I’m in a hurry. But this place is definitely on the repeat list for lunch! I’ll take it any day over Mr. Pickles or any of that. Give it a try!
