We received a menu from this place at our office today and decided to give them a go. We called at 2:00 to place a delivery order. Our 1st choice of food wasn’t available. No big thing, there were plenty of items on the menu to choose from. We chose something else, along with an appetizer. The menu states ‘$ 10 minimum for delivery’, but the person taking our order insisted it was a $ 15 minimum. She then spoke with someone else there who let her know that it was, indeed, a $ 10 minimum order. We were told 40 minutes for the delivery. After 2 hours went by we called in to check on the order and they had no record of the order at all. Needless to say we’ll not be ordering any more food from this place. Between not knowing their own minimum order amounts for delivery, not having food in stock and flat-out incompetence in their ability to receive and deliver an order for food this was a complete waste of our time.

I always pass by this place and yesterday finally tried it. The restaurant is a decent size and it wasn’t too busy when we got there. We ordered the Chung dumplings, scallion pancake, beef tendon/pig ears, Sichuan green beans, and the crispy chicken with chili. Out of the appetizers I’d say the dumplings were the best. It was tender on the inside with good flavor. The scallion pancake and tendon/pig ear were also pretty good but nothing mind blowing. For the entrees, the Sichuan green beans to me were not very good. The flavor was there but the green beans were overcooked and overly soft. I prefer mine to be crispy/crunchy. The crispy chicken was delicious and they give you bigger pieces of chicken than most of the Sichuan restaurants I’ve tried. Overall the service and food was pretty good. It would’ve been 5 stars had it not been for the green beans being overcooked and the child in the corner screaming at the top of his lungs at his mother. The staff kind of just let this happen for a good 15 – 20 minutes before the family left.

Amazing Sichuan food. I would say this is the best Sichuan food restaurant I have ever had.

If you want authentic Chinese food, here is the place. Or rather if you want authentic hot and spicy(very spicy) Chinese food, here is the place. Sichuan(or Szechuan) in China is known for its spicy food. The peppery taste(aka numbingly peppery) is so unique and is nothing like plain old jalapeño. We ordered some of their signature items. Our favorite is the fish in spicy hot sauce, so we ordered the spicy hot fish. It was awesome. It was spicy, very spicy! You can tell from the«massive» amount of pepper in the soup. See my picture. The waitress had to remove some of them, so we could see the fish. The fish was tender and flavorful. With the spicy hot sauce, it was unbeatable. We also ordered another item: beef tripe and pig blood in hot sauce. If pig blood sounds exotic to you, let me tell you«yes, it is.» It is a very popular Chinese delicacy. The texture is like bean curd(kind of). But it’s a bit more firm than tofu. Actually it was so good, and we loved it. Give it a try and then you can brag about it to your friends. There are many other items on the menu. Only a few of them are not spicy. But if you come to a Sichuan restaurant, I don’t see the reason why you would want plain un-spicy food. The service was typical Chinese service. They gave you ample time to enjoy your food without bothering you. But this time the waitress did uncharacteristically come to ask if we wanted more water in our glass! Overall, we enjoyed the dinner very much. Surely, we’ll come again.

All you can eat hot pot for 19 dollars. Food quality is good. But sesame sauce needs extra money.

BYOB … Unfamiliar with most of the menu, however, the dishes we had were very good. The spicy won ton for the appetizer were delicious as well. Bring your vino and take an adventure at this authentic restaurant.

I have meals delivered from here a lot — the food is delicious! My staple is the mapo tofu — but I’ve also ordered the General Tso’s chicken, twice cooked pork, deep fried chicken with roasted chilis, Szechuan flavored noodles, and spicy cold noodles. The spicy dishes have enough kick to them without being overbearing, and the meals come with plenty of rice. My favorite drink is the Chinese herbal tea — it comes cold in a can. The service is excellent — very polite, and deliveries are fast. All in all a great place to get your sichuan fix!

Definitely my favorite Sichuan place in the DFW area. Never been disappointed by a dish, though I do wish they used more Sichuan peppercorns for that incredible mouth-numbing sensation. But the food is flavorful, spicy when it should be, and not when it shouldn’t. Portion size and price are also great. Favorite dishes: twice cooked fish, twice cooked pork with chilies, salted egg yolk shrimp, basil chicken, basil eggplant, and salt and pepper squid.

Chinese food in Plano and the surrounding towns can be hit-and-miss, but Sichuan Folk is a definite hit. I’m a definite fan of the Sichuan style – hot and spicy, very flavorful, hearty ingredients – and this place carries it off very well. They have a lot of the«American» Chinese favorites – and the menu calls them that specifically – but if you’re feeling more adventurous, their extensive menu contains dishes not often found in more run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurants. For our first order from Sichuan Folk, we stuck to the basics: Beef lo mein, hot & spicy wontons, dumplings, scallion pancake, and egg rolls. Each of these dishes was among the best versions we’ve ever had. The lo mein noodles were perfectly cooked, with flavorful sauce and a generous portion of tender beef. There isn’t much difference between the hot & spicy wontons and the dumplings, but it’s hard to imagine better ones. In fact, they’d be easily at home in Chinatown in San Francisco or New York. The scallion pancake was crispy and tasty, especially dipped in a bit of chili oil from the wontons, and my wife declared the egg rolls the best she’d ever had. The fact that they did these dishes so well makes me want to be more adventurous next time. We ordered take out; I live five minutes away and it was ready by the time I got there. In fairness, the restaurant didn’t seem especially busy, so we’ll have to test it on a busier night to know for sure. All in all, this was as solid as can be. We will definitely be back, many times.

This is a fairly new Sichuan restaurant and is already one of the top Chinese restaurants in the area. The hot & sour soup is by far the best I have ever tasted. I’ve been here mostly at lunch but I have been very impressed by everything I have tried. As they are right next to an oriental grocery(Korean?) their customers are almost all oriental, but I have always been welcomed and served well.

Their food is absolutely disgusting and they are very rude. The workers there can barely speak English. They don’t give you enough food for what they’re charging you for. I would never go back there EVER! ETA: this is my response to you. Actually we did not go home«to eat the food»…I showed my mother the food and she was very displeased by the food so we both collectively agreed that we wanted a refund. We didn’t touch nor did we eat any of that food, so get your facts straight. Once we told you all that we wanted a refund, you all were acting as if you couldn’t comprehend what we were saying. One of the guys even stated«we don’t give refunds»…and I’m was like what? I don’t see a sign stating you all don’t do refunds. He was telling a lie! He was trying to give us a very difficult time about refunding me my money. If a customer is displeased by your service or food they are entitled a full refund. Also, when I first walked in the girl who was the greeter was very ignorant and rude. The cashier was also very rude! She aggressively slid my credit card on the table instead of handing it back to me INMYHAND, like I handed it to her, INHERHAND. Very unprofessional and rude! I will not support you all ever again! Now you learn to be honest and tell the truth. Don’t get on Unilocal trying to save face because you all didn’t want to refund me MY money!

My first Taiwanese restaurant and was so pleased! Great plates at great prices to share. It’s big enough for large family outings with a large menu of chicken, pork, tofu and veggies! I would recommend the spicy dumplings and eggplant dish, very similar to Chinese dishes I’ve had but spicer, which I love!

The place was ok. I ordered the double fried pork and homestyle tofu. The pork was more like fat than meat, and dish were heavily cooked with hot chili oil. If you eat here, make sure you order tea! FOOD: 3⁄5 SERVICE: 4⁄5 AMBIANCE: 4⁄5

This place is pretty authentic from a dish of fish pickled in a spicy broth to the pork kidneys. The choice be between American style and Chinese style dishes was comforting. Unless you are ordering a lunch portion everything is served family style and if you are part of a table of 8 or more you sit with a lazy Susan in the center of the table. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. Please stop by if you are in the area.(they dont take Amex, FYI)

My family decided to try this restaurant after sampling other Sichuan restaurants in Plano and not being too impressed… This one is truly a gem! Other Sichuan restaurants in the area love to ladle a metric crapton of chili oil and making the taste of their hot pot dishes too smoky and a bit unpleasant to stomach because of the tingle it gives you in your throat. Here, it’s the opposite. No beef or fish swimming in oily broth– the broth comes out almost clear and with Sichuan peppers in it. The dan-dan noodles here(they call it «Szechuan Flavor Noodle» are very good and again beat other Plano Sichuan restaurants. The fish in their shuizhuyu(water cooked fish) comes out so tender and not overwhelmingly spicy! The service was super quick and the owner(middle aged woman) is almost always in the front of the house and is very friendly and actively involved with managing. Another perk about this restaurant that other Sichuan(and Chinese in general) restaurants fail to provide is a clean, attractive atmosphere. Granted, this restaurant is new(along with the rest of the HMart plaza) but it is so spotless! The bathrooms are clean and fresh. When I went to blow my nose in other restaurants’ bathrooms after getting my airways destroyed by their red oily broth, my shoes would literally stick to the bathroom floors and make a *thwack* sound as I pulled them off… lol…doesn’t help your appetite once you return to your table. None of that grimy business at Sichuan Folk. The only bad thing here that I can think of is that the booths are really tight so sit at a table instead of a booth. Also, the booths are right next to the windows and HMart employees tend to come out and have a smoke and stand right next to those windows so it’s a little uncomfortable with a group of them right next to you behind the untinted glass. I truly hope that the management of Sichuan Folk uphold their standards in the future because it’s the best Sichuan restaurant in Plano!

The food smells delicious, but I felt like the Sichuanese flavor just wasn’t there. We tried the twice cooked fish, which lacked flavor, and the green beans, which was cooked generously with garlic, but I feel like Dallas has better places as far as Sichuanese cuisine goes. However, I love that the price is reasonable and the restaurant is very clean.

Sichuan Folk provided casual Asian fare at very reasonable prices. My friend and I came at the end of a lunch service, so the staff was mainly focused on cleaning up and likely caused us to run out of water several times, but this may not be so bad if you go during normal service. We split an order of the fried rice which was decent, but indistinguishable from fried rice at most other fast casual asian chains. The twice cooked pork was something I would not recommend as the pork pieces were primarily fat(thin sliced pork belly) in a relatively oily and spicy sauce. However, the deep fried chicken dish that almost everyone has posted about really is that good. This is definitely something I would recommend if you come here as the morsels of chicken are small but moist with a light coating ensuring the dish is not too heavy or oily. This dish was the saving grace of this place and makes me wonder if there are other dishes that might make this location a 4 star or higher. Ambiance and service isn’t anything special, but that’s not what these places are meant for. As a relatively casual Asian restaurant, Sichuan Folk is definitely a solid choice for the price point and the quality of some of the dishes.

I was back in Plano for spring break and by request of my mother, who always wants to try out new Chinese restaurants and shops at H-Mart frequently, came to eat at this restaurant. I believe this place is relatively new as are many restaurants in the H-Mart complex in general. My experience could have probably been rated even higher but our family made the mistake of ordering everything in the same spicy Sichuanese sauce, leaving no other dishes to balance out our palate. We ordered the Sichuan Boiled Fish(my favorite at all Sichuanese restaurants), Mapo Tofu(another Sichuanese classic), and a spicy noodle and vegetable soup(the name is escaping me at the moment). The boiled fish dish was excellent and delicious, while the tofu and soup dish were good but not my favorite. Unlike many Chinese restaurants, this place had great service and all the wait staff and hostess were kind and prompt, and was well-kept and tidy. The pricing was pretty average as far as Chinese restaurants go, but the portions are quite decent-sized. If I am back in town with a spicy Sichuanese craving, I’d definitely go again!

Sunday 6:30 and the place was pretty packed with only 3 servers, including the hostess and cashier. We ordered ribs, salt and pepper fish(my favorite), pig’s blood hot pot(mom’s favorite), mapo tofu, fried duck and a some cold side dishes. Everything was decent, the best being the fried fish. Nothing was especially spicy to me but the mapo tofu did have that nice numbing effect from the peppercorns. I’d say this place is worth a shot if you’re a fan of hardcore Chinese places. The employees were actually all very nice with smiles on their faces even though they were running around trying to take care of everyone. For some reason when the servers are smiling it makes me less annoyed with terrible service, especially when they apologized. I would come here again.

This is the best Sichuan restaurant I’ve been to in the DFW area. If you want some spicy, bold flavored and authentic Chinese food, then this is definitely the place for you. We told them that we didn’t want our dishes to be too salty, oily or with any MSG and this is one of the few Chinese restaurants in the DFW area that could do that and still make all the dishes extremely tasty. The service was great from the start. Different servers constantly came over to check on us to make sure that everything was great. My personal favorite dish was the yuxiang eggplant and my husband loved the crispy chicken with the chili peppers. The mapo tofu with fish was great too. Basically if you love spicy food, then this is the place for you. I love trying all types of hot peppers. The Sichuan peppers are very special. They are actually fragrant and sometimes leave a numbing sensation in your mouth. It might sound scary but it is really not. It’s hard to describe until you taste the Sichuan peppers in your food. Just FYi, they charge $ 1.25 per person for tea.
