Sushi was good, but way overpriced! My waitress was rude and unprofessional. Won’t be back!

Went here on a whim because we were craving sushi. The ratings look good so we decided to try it. It’s kinda hidden in the plaza and their sign wasn’t lit so we almost passed it. We got there 30 minutes before closing but they were more than happy to seat us right away. A few parties came after us – even 15 min before closing– and they gladly sat them as well with no attitude unlike many restaurants do. We order a few rolls that were $ 10 – 15 a roll which I think is pretty standard. Our food came pretty quick. The rolls were beautifully crafted except for the occasional piece that had no fish on top. The pieces weren’t cut evenly and some couldn’t fit in our mouth in one bite lol. but who cares. I would say this is one of the better sushi places in the area and I definitely would come back because of the tasty rolls. The staff is super friendly and always topped off our water. Overall, If you are craving yummy sushi in the area, this is the place to go!

This is my favorite Japanese sushi restaurant(excluding ramen) around this area. I have been visiting this place and tried out a lot of different rolls here. My favorite rolls are Honey Bunny, Forget me Not, and Ribeyes roll. The other rolls are pretty good too but these three are the rolls I will recommend to anyone who just visited for the first time. Ps. Some times I go there 3 times a week just because i really love it.

Perfectly adequate sushi. If you’re in the shopping mall and you want sushi, it’s perfectly fine. No reason to drive there.

Really great sushi and for the first time I was actually full from eating sushi! We had the Godzilla, super bowl and the lion king and found them both to be excellent especially the Lion King. One of the best sushi spots in Concord, PHILL and WCAREA

Yokoso is always my go to Japanese restaurant and their excellent service from their waitresses never fails to amaze my fiancé and I or my mom. The entrees and sushi are fresh, cooked well and of course delicious! Their Fuji Roll is one of my favorites and I’d recommend it to anyone. Same with their salad; I love that stuff especially with extra dressing. I will probably never stop coming here, I actually just keep coming back for more.

Still my favorite sushi joint in Phill! I love the forget me not, 49er, pesto roll, and honey bunny. The servers are very quick and attentive. The miso and salads are always fresh. There are always a good amount of people. I dislike the imitation crab and sometimes it tastes like they have older oil in their fryer. The chicken teriyaki. tempura combo is also very good! They are on top of water refills. You really cant go wrong with coming here!!!

Holy wowza! This place is amazing! I saw the pictures/reviews Unilocal and decided to give this place a try. Not only was the sushi amazing but the prices are great to match, especially for the size of those roll! Holy cow I’m full. I’m a sushi freak so I’ve tried all the best sushi places in the East Bay for the most part but I think this one almost takes the cake. Service wa salsa exceptional. Although they’re busy, they are attentive and friendly! Overall 5 stars no question… oh and don’t leave without trying the Forget Me Not roll and the Lion King. Boooomb diggity

This rating is only based on their rolls; I’ve read reviews and it seems like their other dishes aren’t that great… On a good note! The rolls are perfectly sized; not too big where I’m almost choking on it and not too small. I don’t remember the names of the rolls we ordered but I know they were always delicious.

Let me start by saying my hopes were only so high being where this restaurant was located. We didn’t start off too well as it took about 10 minutes for someone to even take our drink order after we were seated. The menu should have been a tip-off that this was not a place to get raw fish as they only had about 10 types of sashimi/nigiri; everything else was pretty much cooked or chopped up fish. The rolls we got were acceptable however I actually had to spit out the hamachi nigiri. It tasted fishy and was cut incorrectly to the point that I had to really work to bite through the fish itself. I don’t know that I have ever had to do that before. Needless to say, we would not be coming back. If you are looking for only cooked Japanese food, you are probably okay but I wouldn’t recommend the sushi. Also, at $ 34 for 2 rolls and 2 pieces of inedible nigiri, it’s pretty overpriced.

Another review… another sushi spot!!! Have to when I find a bomb spot. I’ll first knock off the two slight set backs I see with this place which would be the prices(what do you expect, the food is really fresh/good quality) & the seating in the booths are a bit rigid(no1 comes to a restaurant for the seating, I know!!) As for what makes this place 5 stars, that would be the super attentive staff, place looks clean(am a bit of a germophobe), and fresh food. I wonder if they do happy hour? This place would be perfect for that or a date, as the booths are close and intimate. I would say one of the more unique rolls that they have would be their pesto roll! The pesto sauce tastes fresh, and it goes perfect with the salmon topped with spicy mayo. Can’t wait to come back and try some more!

TRUESUSHIAFICIONADOS, EATATYOUROWNDISCRETION Been here two times, and have decided that last night will be our last time eating at this establishment. Don’t get me wrong — this place is by no means a bad place to eat, as the cooked foods are decent and of generous quantity(we had a lot of leftovers), and the service adequate — however, when I see a four star sushi restaurant, I expect for the sushi offerings themselves to be of four-star quality… and this is where they fall short. The true sushi items(e.g. sashimi, nigiri, or hand rolls) are only okay, and must be eaten with sauce or a decent amount of soy sauce to enjoy, and the temperature of the sushi is not on point either(there is variation, at times too cold). It should also be noted that this place is operated by Chinese owners/chefs, and you may see that reflected in the way the food is prepared. For example, the chicken karage was pretty much orange chicken without its sauce, and the lobster hand-roll that I ordered was comprised of lobster meat mixed with some sort of mayo sauce, wrapped with a shrimp tempura(very heavy, and definitely not what one would get when ordering this at an authentic, Japanese owned sushi joint). The wait staff is good, and the restaurant itself is nicely decorated, with a few nice sized TV’s on the wall for game nights. This place does get crowded at dinner, so expect a wait of 10 to 15 minutes around the dinner rush.

I was ecstatic to find out there were varieties of sushi restaurants near my work– Yokoso being one of them. The last time I wanted to try it here they were remodeling. Sad moment. But now they’re open again. Yay! During my lunch break at work I excitedly came here and ordered the oh-so-famous Honey Bunny roll that I’ve seen a countless amount of times on review photos. IMO it is not the best, but don’t get me wrong it is VERY good! Great portion(wasnt sure if I could finish it myself), beautiful display, generous amount of sauce, & has a lot of flavor. I just think I’ve had better rolls. But that won’t stop me from trying their other specialty rolls! What I really want to try one day is their stir fry udon noodles. Yuuuum. I ordered a Lobster & Super hand roll to-go so my hubs can munch later. Overall my experience was great. Service is attentive but not where you feel empowered with them checking up. Just enough to feel comfortable. Kudos to the chef for substituting my hamachi with sake. I loooove raw salmon! Will come back. :)

I came here during weekday lunch hour. It wasn’t busy at all. We sat down right away and were greeted with our waiter. The menu has a good selection of sushi, appetizer, bento box, hot entrée, etc. We ordered the Katsu Bento Box, which comes with salad, soup, and bento box. It was a good value considering the things they provided. The sushi was fresh and tender. This is not a fancy sushi spot where you expect to find the best cut of sashimi but I was pretty happy with the freshness and the sushi rice quality. I would come back for another time.

Second time going here and was satisfied again. Great sushi. Highly suggest the Pleasant Hill roll and the Super Bowl roll. Staff was very nice and quick to refill drinks. A little overpriced but still good. Would mos def come again.

The sushi is pretty fresh here but pricey in my opinion. We started off with vegetable tempura which was the perfect size to share and had just enough batter. After much thought, I decided to get the honey bunny roll which was a shrimp tempura and spicy crab roll topped with avocado, BBQ eel, fish(I believe it was red snapper), lobster salad and a sweet soy sauce. The sauce was way too sweet for my liking but the roll itself was good. If you do plan on getting this roll I recommend getting the sauce on the side. Overall the sushi was pretty good and fresh.

Sushi for breakfast is always a good idea! Came here right when they opened Tuesday morning at 11am sharp. Ordered they honey bunny roll(AMAZING) and the fuji roll(just ok) and a chicken teriyaki don to share. The service was attentive and I enjoyed the flavor of all the food. Thank you for opening your doors 30 minutes before most other sushi places in the area, Yokoso! The food definitely satisfied my hunger.

In the past six months, I have eaten here three times — and three strikes, so they’re out. For my first visit, please see my original review. On my second visit in January 2015, I went during my lunch hour from work. I was craving Japanese food — specifically, Japanese curry with pork katsu. I was going to make it at home for dinner, but I saw that Yokoso had curry on the menu, so I decided to give it a shot. Most Japanese restaurants in the area do not even serve curry on their menu. Their curry katsu is listed on their Lunch Menu for $ 9.50, and it is by far the worst Japanese curry I have ever had. The katsu was standard — you can’t really go wrong with breaded, deep-fried pork. However the curry sauce was very thin, and served with undercooked peas and chopped carrots. I lived in Japan for two years, and never have I had curry with peas. The standard vegetables in curry are thinly sliced carrots, onions, and potatoes. I figured — I probably ordered wrong. So I would give them one more shot. Yesterday(Saturday 2⁄14), I visited Yokoso on my lunch hour. After I was seated and served my water, I asked where the Lunch Menu was. The waitress told me, «I’m sorry — it’s only this menu today.» Dinner prices. On a Saturday. At noon. This meant no lunch combinations, and no lunch prices. I’m looking online at their menu right now, and I do not see any mention about Lunch not being served on weekends. It simply states that lunch is served from 11 — 3, and they list Saturday/Sunday lunch hours from 11:30 — 3. I really should have just left, but with only 40 minutes remaining on my lunch break, on Valentine’s Day, I figured I wouldn’t have time to drive somewhere else, eat, and still make it back to work on time. Also, I was already seated with water, and I just think it’s embarrassing to leave after being waited on. I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu — chicken teriyaki. It was listed on their Dinner Menu for $ 12.95. The waitress who took my order asked, «Lunch?» so I answered, «Yes,» in hopes that maybe — just maybe — I would get charged the lunch prices. Salad came. Mostly the white ends of the romaine lettuce, which are never too tasty. Miso soup came. It was standard, the usual. Then my chicken teriyaki came, and it was the smallest«Dinner»(or Lunch? Who knows?) I have seen for the price of $ 8.95−12.95. Thinly sliced chicken, a half cup of rice, and a sliver of green garnish. I finished it all — and usually, when I eat at other Japanese restaurants — I may have leftovers. This meant the portions were small. My lunch hour was running out, so I asked for the check. After tax and tip, I paid just over $ 17.00. For tiny chicken and a half cup of rice, a meh salad, and standard soup. At lunch time. With no lunch menu. Even though my receipt said«Chicken teriyaki» with an(L) for Lunch. Honestly, had this been dinner time, I still would have been disappointed. Mediocre Japanese food, small(er) portions(in comparison to other Japanese restaurants in the Concord/PH/WC area), and expensive prices. Sorry Yokoso, but I won’t be a returning customer.
