I’m originally from NJ and these Dog’s are so good the family used to go out on special trips to have them. The Jersey Dogs in Pompano are as good as home. Dan from NJ

Real homemade Italian food handmade by grandma , I don’t care what Italian restaurant you go to they have the best from hot sausage to canola. Im still puzzled why they call themselves Jersey dogs it’s very deceiving. Although the pushcart dogs deserve a shout. It’s really not the true reason to visit.

I’m not quite sure why, but I frequently get cravings for hot dogs. Random? Yep. Going to give me cancer? Maybe. Do I care? Not at all. So when I discovered a place that is all about hot dogs was located near my work, I thought it was rather serendipitous and headed right on over. And they were closed. Heads up, y’all, this place is closed on Mondays(I updated the Unilocal page to reflect this). With my hot dog craving obviously unsatisfied, I not-so-patiently waited until the next day and headed right on back. I asked the friendly gentleman behind the counter for their jumbo ½ lb. hot dog to go, and it was ready minutes later. Sadly, when I got back to my office(a whopping three minute drive away), the bun had been reduced to mush. It was still quite a good hot dog, but the bun was a soggy mess. I resolved to ask for it to be grilled on my next visit. Fast forward to today. I walked in, this time greeted by a woman who was all smiles. I ordered the same hot dog as before, and asked if the bun could be toasted. She said they didn’t really have a way to do that, but when I told her about my last visit, she helpfully offered to wrap the bun separately so I could put the hot dog in it once I got back to work. This worked out just fine for me, and I once again enjoyed my ginormous hot dog(seriously, just look at the pictures of this thing). Admittedly, I gave about a quarter of it to my dog(I originally wasn’t going to, because that feels vaguely cannibalistic), but my coworker assured me that it would be fine. Besides, they use Sabrett hot dogs here, so at least it isn’t total mystery meat :) I have yet to try one of their hot dogs in the pizza bread, but I’m quite curious. Perhaps that will be my next order. It sure is nice to have a friendly, quick lunch spot around!

Dogs were good and inexpensive. Sausage and peppers in the pizza bread was great! They have live music once a week but all other nights close very early. Small but great lunch spot.

I visited this place in January 2015 while driving through Pompano. I had a double Italian and found it to be very good. The guys working were very friendly. I would recommend it to any transplant from Jersey who misses this kind of sandwich.

After a long day of scuba diving across the road with Pompano Dive Center we popped in to Jersey Dogs for a quick bite before headed back to the boat for a night dive. At that point we were too tired to even walk, so we drove over and found ample parking in the back, along with a back door entrance. They probably don’t see much business after the beach crowd has gone for the day, and we found ourselves to be the only customers at 6:15pm, which meant our food came out super fast and the staff spent the time chatting up with us and giving great service. I went with the Italian dog(and of course added mayo). The real star here is the pizza bread it’s served on! Highly recommend this. My friend ordered the jumbo ½lb hot dog, and this was too big for him to finish, although he somehow found room to eat a cannoli when that option presented itself lol. They do have some healthy salad options here, and the best part is everything is very affordable.

One may say I’m obsessed with weiners. well, yes, I am. I’m not a New Yawker, who grew up with a «dirty water dog» in her mouth so. since my oral cavity is a virgin why not break her in with their special, Dino’s Special which is 2 push cart dogs and a soda for 5.95.Yes I’m a Florida girl who loves jersey dogs with good buns and that’s just what’s on my menu. Oh man. or should I say Hot Dawg this weiners dang tasty!!! On mine I had onions, sauerkraut, relish and mustard… I am very glad I chose the dirty water dogs because they are firm and juicy. The other item ordered was a breadless sausage sandwich over lettuce and tomatoes .no carbs that one was not mine, mines full of fattening goodness. I had to wash it all down with Peroni Beer. I’m 100% Italian. I can’t drink American beer. unless forced .and it doesn’t take much to force me. The real reason I am here is to sing some kareoke with the lady who had the iguana in her commode. .we do a hell of a sonny and Cher duet. along with my Billy Joel improvisation of big shot they all love it. it’s a Lotta fun. The beef frank’s were delish they use sabret brand so no turkey dogs here. beers are ice cold and Friday night kareoke. .I could think of worse ways to spend a friday night

I had Unilocaled this place out before attending the 2015 Unilocal Spring Break Event to be held on Great Lawn of Pompano, in order to get a light snack prior to the event. Not that I would end up starving at a Unilocal Event, but so that I wouldn’t end up arriving totally hungry, making a food pig of myself. Hmmm? Only 6 Five Star and 3 One Star ratings without any between. Something has to be wrong about this. I don’t see how 6 can say it’s as good as it gets and 3 find it terrible. When I arrived, it was pretty much like I thought I’d find it to be. Small, hole in the wall like, but for a hot dog joint, nicely set up with a few sidewalk like chairs and tables and a counter interior. The inside was very simple but bright and cheerful enough, and the gentleman that greeted me from behind the counter more than friendly. I read the menu off the wall and my eyes caught upon one item noted as being a «Push Cart Dog» with underwritten notation of «Dirty Water Dog,» $ 3. I inquired about it and was told that it was a simple dog, dressed basic, ketchup, mustard, relish, fired onion, or any way I’d want and that it would taste and be just what I’d get from the push cart vendors, so I ordered it. At this point I’ll interject to say that when it comes to hot dogs, I’m a real hot dog aficionado, a person who goes out of his way for a good tasting hot dog, and a guy who not only loves but embraces them all from the Texas meat sauce and Chicago Vienna neon green relish to the South American Perros pink pineapple/potato chip style. When my cart dog was served it was served on paper, simple, exactly like I’d expect from a cart. When I tried it, the bun was moist, sort of fresh steamed gooey, the dog with certain snap to the skin when bitten into with the relish, fried onion, ketchup and mustard having been perfectly combined for full flavor and that great hot dog taste I’ve come to expect from the push carts found around the areas of Philly, Jersey and New York. In my book super fine. Indeed I’ve had a lot worse of that type of dog around the areas of Lauderdale and Pompano, particular since most places don’t prepare them in that style. As the place was clean, the fellow who waited on me, originally from an area just outside of Newark, more than friendly enough, and the dog I had all that it was should have been, I’m a fan. Of course I can’t comment on their other items, since I didn’t have any of them, but I would expect them to also live up to be exactly what they are purported to be on the menu.

Just made it to this hidden gem finally this evening! Food was outstanding and staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and pleasant. Arrived almost a half hour past closing and was welcomed in and told we could order anything. The«Jersey Dog»(double) was amazing, served on a pizza roll with peppers, onions, fried potatoes, and mustard. My wife ordered the Italian Hot Beef Sandwich which was on special and it was excellent as well. They also served us a side of fried potatoes, to die for. The quality of all the ingredients were top notch down to the bread. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner/chef, his wife, and mother. I will certainly be returning here soon! Do yourself a favor and check it out!

The name is misleading… should be New York Dogs. Problem is Jersey is known for dogs not New York. Real Jersey Dogs are boiled in oil. New York street dogs in water like this place. Also Real Jersey Dogs either come with or with out. that’s it. WITH: is Chopped onions, mustard and pickle. And one more thing is Real Jersey Dogs(the good stuff) only cost about $ 1.00 each not $ 3.00. Jimmy’s Dog Stand

It’s warm but raining outside when I walk to Jersey Dogs. I’m greeted with big smiles from Dino and Dennis. I ordered the chili and an Italian dog(peppers, onion, and potatoes). As I begin my meal, lots of friendly regulars flow into the joint. The TV is playing a classic movie station. I felt so at home at this place. Friendly conversations, clean bathrooms, good beer, and great food. Don’t miss this place when you are in Pompano Beach! Best of luck and much success to you guys. I look forward to coming back on my next visit.

Jersey hot dogs! Wow and so much more! We tried the Italian complete with fresh onions, peppers, potatoes and don’t even get me started about the bread! So good! We also tried the sausage, meatballs and the gravy was delicious! Going back on Friday for clam chowder!
