This is a small gem tucked away behind the stretch of buildings lining the main drag in downtown port Huron. It’s got plenty of vegetarian options(for the area) and the food is always decent. The service is great, it’s a cheap and good especially for its location, port Huron is a tough town to survive and cavis has proven it has what it takes! Regulars, options, good service, affordable and good food!

So, the BF and I went to Port Huron for a Quick Weekend Get Away always having driven thru but not stayed or stopped in really. Cavis Grill had decent reviews on Unilocal, but the winner was the picture of Pumpkin Pancakes. That automatically meant we had to go. The location was RIGHT by the water. The building, small, really small, and parking minimal. It’s seat yourself, and the waitress will find you. I got a Chorizo Omelette with a.20 cent upgrade to Sourdough toast, and Home fries. The BF got an Omelette(I forget what kind) with wheat and home fries and we shared an order of the Pumpkin Pancakes. They offered fruit and tomato slices as alternatives to hash browns as well, and if i hadn’t been splurging with all the carbs, i would have definitely put that to use. Everything was fast, inexpensive, and good quality. I would definitely visit again.

Is there anything bad about Cavis’s? The food is your classic diner fare. It’s been open since 1960, and is now run by the son of the original owner. If you haven’t been here in a few years, though, be prepared — the food is not just burgers and fries anymore. Nick Cavis brings his«A» game, and it’s time you see how old school meets new at his place. Try this — how about Eggs Da Vinci, eggs Benedict with a healthy twist using homemade bruschetta instead of hollandaise. Or the Chorizo Omelet, with a great concoction if several mixed cheeses, jalapeños and Mexican spices. I’ve even seen people have the Greek– American favorite Saganaki for Breakfast here! In a lunch or dinner mood? Check them out. Greek Night every 2nd Tuesday brings Mrs. Cavis’s traditional Greek homemade recipes out, including Moussaka, Grape Leaves and the Trio, including Hummus, Bruschetta and Homemade Tzasiki. My favorite place in the PoHo, hands down!
