I’ve been here for Sunday brunch over the last few weeks. The food is VERY inconsistent. My wife had eggs Benedict yesterday and they were overcooked, while my egg sandwich had some runny yolk(which I like, but the first time they arrived that way). If you ask for a sauce on the side then 2⁄3 times you don’t get it at all. Sometimes the food takes a long time to arrive, they are seemingly unable to cope with more than 4 orders at once. Its a shame as the food, when done right, is actually pretty good. There is a good beer selection, but serving is inconsistent there too. I have had beers served me in small goblet glasses(despite being under 6% abv, but whatever) only to see other people get served the same beer in a pint glass. By the way, they use Pyrex beakers here to serve much of the beer, the gimmick wears off really quickly. Overall, I’d say they were suffering ‘opening troubles’, except they’ve been around for about 6 months already. This place has a lot of potential, and I would love to rate them higher, but apparently I seem to care more about this place than the staff does.

I’ve been to this establishment numerous times but just recently I went with friends and was turned away by Bobby from getting a drink because my license is out of state. I’ve never had this issue when I would come in the past and when I asked for water, he refused to serve me that as well. My friends and I decided to leave because he said he could only serve us one drink anyway. This staff member was very inconsiderate and we won’t be doing business here again.

We are live Unilocaling after a wonderful dinner experience. We were visiting Port Jeff brewery and decided we would grab some dinner. Dawn, our waitress guided us through the experience wonderfully. Her suggestion of crawfish stuffed oysters as an appetizer was great! We also had the fried chicken special, Apple and pear salad and the Mac and cheese. Excellent. We both had the pear and pineapple sangria. Fantastic experience. We will be back!!! Thanks for the bacon caramel popcorn!!! The service was flawless and the food incredible!

never give 1 stars, but this place popped up on my «recommended review» suggestions so I have an excuse to tell my story… Went here for dinner back in November — food was good, drinks were good, loved the ambiance of the place. I loved the Breaking Bad vibes. I left my small backpack behind after my meal and only realized it when I got home(I live over an hour away) and called to ask about it. Being that it was late and the place would be closed by the time I got back, I asked them to look for it — said they couldn’t find it. I called back a bit later and the hostess told me she found it. I had my car keys, medication, and other stuff in there. I asked her to hold it for me and I would be back in a few days for it. Turns out I had to have emergency surgery that Monday. Knowing I would be out of commission, I emailed the restaurant telling them I wouldn’t be able to get my bag but that I knew they had it, etc etc. I received no response. I was on severe painkillers for weeks and couldn’t do much of anything. When I was finally able to make the drive out there again– at least a month later– I called and heard that«that hostess was fired, she sucked, sorry we don’t see your bag» and although I take responsibility for 1) leaving it behind 2) not being more aggressive about following up, I still found it really disheartening to hear this place take no responsibility for this. No cameras? No nothing you can do to figure out what happened to something I left at your business? I used to work at a restaurant and I know that if someone left something behind, I would make sure to keep it safe, especially if their CONTACTINFORMATION/ADDRESS(ANDCAR&HOUSEKEYS) AREINSIDE. Anyway I showed up despite that and whoever was working let me look around«things get thrown around» was his excuse. It was really such a bummer. I tell everyone this story and try to let them know how mediocre management(if you would call it that, I have no idea) has contributed to me losing a ton of important things with no hope of ever getting them back. It’s a shame b/c I liked the food and beer selection and I rarely ever have bad things to say about restaurants but this experience has just left me really sad.

what a great place! AMAZING! so many beers to choose from a flight(4 samples in fun beaker-style glasses) is the way to go! For appitizer we had the meat & cheese platter which was great especially if you love cheese! Dinner special that night was the shrimp and biscuits in a creamy sauce and it wad out of this world! tomato soup was also served and it was a generous portion full of flavor and comfort! definitely a great place and we will be back! PS the bathroom walls are painted completely in chalkboard paint aka way too much time was spent in there but I thought it was a fun & unique touch!

A hipster’s dream, this bar lacks personality. I was also served a beer that was clearly not the beer in the description. The color and flavor didn’t math, and I’ve had it a number of times recently. The bartenders response? «Huh.» Expensive and bland unless you really like suspenders.

Wow, what a great new spot! In my little town no less, they finally got it right. This place for some reason was always cursed with sucky restaurants. Brewology breaks the beaker on all the other places. Tastefully decorated both inside and out, its truly a fun, new restaurant in Port Jefferson harbor. Saturday night, it’s my wife birthday and she wants to wait until my son is finished from work to have a nice family birthday dinner. We walk inside and its a dark and tastefully decorated spot. During the summer the side windows facing the street open up the restaurant. Do you know what its like in Port Jefferson, nice sea salt breezes, the sound of the ferry horn and people shuffling around? Makes this almost magical. We sit down and we’re given a clipboard showing the various beers, whiskey, and food menu. Our waiter brings out hot pretzels with grain mustard for the(4) of us. Amazing! I ordered a pint but then I spy with my little eye a grapefruit hefeweizen? It sounds off but I had it in EPCOT and jumped on the grapefruit bandwagon. Both my sons walk in and we quickly ordered a meat & cheese platter. I asked our waiter if the cheeses were sourced across the street. No I’m told, the chefs make the charcuterie in house. Dang! It was a lot of cheese, not so much meat. The plate had pistachios, pecans, blue berries, strawberries and two non cheese dishes like duck pâté and sausage. Newsday rates the Brewology burger as one of the best in Long Island. I thought their rating system was hokey and besides, I have a Long Island burger list. Hey, who better to rate Long Island burgers than me? I’m Billy Salts, Unilocaler! The burgers come out and they are molto sexy. Big platter of french fries, fresh looking brioche bun and the actually juicy patty, is that stuffed with cheesy love? Oozing out of the patty when you take a bite? Oh, that’s just naughty. The french fries are something that gave me a belly bomb. They were thin, had no flavor and got cold and limp too quickly. I would have liked to order just a burger and not a platter with fries. Oh and when you’re finished with your meal they give you a nice bag of homemade caramel popcorn. Nice touch Brewology! Brewology, nice job on the reboot. Fun looking bar, fresh beers that are always changing and a great menu. All in Port Jefferson. Remember, people in the crosswalk have the right of way, drive slow in my town!

Yeah, this place was cool! I was visiting Long Island from out of town, and I ended up here for Mrs. Pinky’s birthday. I tried just about every beer, we had some french fries, and the bar was totally cool. The bartenders were accommodating, the staff was nice enough, and I’d recommend it if you’re in Port Jeff.

Excellent service. Order the cheese and meat platter for a later-in-the-evening experience. Add a nice beer and you’re done.

Atmosphere: modern pub with an industrial and organic vibe(think steel and wood). The bar is small, but the restaurant itself is large with lots of seating. Staff: friendly, very well-trained and knowledgeable, and helpful. Food: I think the beer and whiskey menus are at least twice the size of the food menu. Lots of gluten-free options, including a normal sized and fluffy bun! Hallelujah. Vegetarian options include several salads(try the beet salad, which is average but the beer vinaigrette makes it special). The poutine potato skins are good, nothing extraordinary and more like loaded skins. I would come back, especially to try their veggie burger.

First time I’ve been here and I got to say, I might become a local to this watering hole. I loved their selection of draft beers. They even had my favorite grapefruit hefeweizen. But overall, their selection is what will draw me back. I didn’t really get to full on try the food there yet, but definitely do not get the poutine since the fries were soggy when I had it. Try going somewhere else if you are craving some. I’m currently a fan and I will go back another day to give better feedback of the food at this location. The bartenders were also friendly when I went.

My husband and I live about a mile away from brewology 295 but just visited for the first time last night. It instantly became our new go-to place for food and drinks. The atmosphere is perfect for us, whether we want to sit at the bar or at a table a nice distance from it. We ordered a flight which we allowed our server, Patrick, to choose for us based on our tastes. He did an excellent job and was so very personable. We only ordered appetizers, but they were very good.(Don’t order the wings unless you like H-O-T!!) Be aware that the entrance to this pub is on the side road(Arden) although the address is on Main. Can’t wait to go back and become regulars. 5-stars from us both.

Pretentious and slow. Probably a nice place to come for a drink… But i was sitting at my table for 20 minutes as my «server»(not really serving me) spent time chatting to another table about his life story… I guess next time I’ll order a burger and ask for the check at the same time… That being said it took 15 minutes for a Diet Coke to arrive in a very chemistry worthy glass… The newly turned 21 year olds must go crazy for that!!! Next time I’ll call ahead order a burger and the check and maybe it’ll be better

This is my second time coming to brewology. It’s a cool trendy place with a good selection of craft beer to enjoy. Most of the beers come in cool beaker glasses because it’s Brewology: the study of beer! Get it? My boyfriend and I came in on a Tuesday night to watch the Mets it was pretty dead. The manager didn’t want to put the sound for the game on but after everyone at the bar twisted his arm to, he eventually turned the sound on. My boyfriend had a flight first to try out some beers before committing to one which is a great option since they have about 20 – 30 beers on tap. I stuck with mixed drinks for the night. I wasn’t a fan of the sangria it was interesting but I probably wouldn’t get it again. The spiced something punch was delicious if you like sweet drinks. The bartender was very nice and attentive good service throughout the night. The food is okay there we just ordered a flatbread and some wings. The flatbread was my favorite but the wings weren’t very crispy and they were a little dry. Overall, this is a great place to come drink some beers and hang out! Will definitely be back.

4 stars for the beer and place itself, but 3 stars for a food. This was our second time coming to this beer loving place in PJ. Besides the PJ brewery, this is probably the only place I will go for craft beer while in Port Jeff. The beer is always changing and if a menu isn’t your way to order, just look at the periodic table on the wall near the bar that has all their beers listed. The bar tending is great here but the entire place was dead. I think there was one couple eating dinner who stayed for about 30 minutes. The food is OK. Nothing crazy spectacular but serviceable bar food. I personally think the food is overpriced, we paid $ 10 for 6 wings which were dry and $ 14 for a flat bread that should cost closer to $ 10. None the less, this place is a beer lovers dream and if you want a couple bites stop in and give it a shot.

Excellent service. My girlfriend and I had 2 beer flights, a cheese and meat platter and martinis. Our bartender Ashely, was superb. She gave us good notes on beer and what we might like, she was very friendly, courteous and funny. The beer we had was excellent. Great taps. We had the cheese and meat plate(we didn’t realize that it came with pâté. Because we obviously couldn’t read haha) so she did get us more meat. It was very good. Paired well with the beer. She made our martinis excellent. We then saw someone have dessert. It was a berry, white mousse and had the option for bacon! I mean bacon and sweets! The kitchen was closed, but the bar manager Vinny made one for my girlfriend. It was so yummy as she says! We had a great experience due to the 2 staff people we met. Ashely and manger Vinny. We will be back soon…

Great spot for a late lunch in Port Jeff. Nice décor & atmosphere. I had a tasty turkey burger and saison. My husband had pork belly tacos and Greenport’s Leaf Pile. Complimentary soft pretzels were a plus. Some of the menu options were a tad pricey in my opinion, but overall it was definitely worth the stop!

This place drew me back in, after having drinks one day walking around Port Jeff. I love the atmosphere here; they did a great job decorating and creating a «theme», but I think they could take it even further. My second trip, I came for dinner and more beer of course. I tried the Brewology burger, which was fantastic. It comes stuffed with cheddar blue-cheese and buffalo aoili… aka heaven. A little on the pricier side for a burger — but do try it. We also snagged flights of beer, of which they have an awesome and diverse selection. Good luck remembering what you ordered though! They have so many beers to choose from, that as soon as I put in my order and the menus were taken– I completely forgot what I had ordered. That being said, I liked every one of them(what a shock), and I also enjoyed that the flight was served in beakers. This place is super fun, the service was great, and it’s definitely a great addition to the PJ area.

This is an incredible addition to the Port Jeff area. The makeover in this space has been refreshing. It feels more like a bar you might find in Brooklyn or Wburg with its industrial fixings and geek-chic chemistry theme. The beakers and periodic beer table are a nice touch in this creative, new space to wine and dine. For a place called brewology, I was surprised that they don’t actually brew their own beers but definitely happy with the selection. Instead this is place is more of a study in fine beer makers, many of which are local. The fine purveyors of beer here are experts on their selection, providing abundant samples of all their brews with poignant reflections on the subtle hints of flavor that eat beer brings. It is clear that these beer sommeliers, rather cicerones, have studied and sampled extensively, which is nice for us amateur beer connoisseurs. They are informative guides on exciting journeys of beerdom, serving flights to fit any fancy. My beer picks: –Port Jeff Triple H– a strong in alcohol % and flavor, but not heavy –21st amendment Hell or High Watermelon — A juicy watermelon infused beer that epitomizes summer with the first sip –Dogfish Head Festina Peche– Peachy delicious beer –Old Brown Dog The food here especially is worth writing home about. As thoughtful as they are on their selection of beers, that same insight and care is placed in their food. The menu is interesting and not your boring pub fair. Everything was well-flavored and cooked to perfection. My food picks thus far: –Pretzels with delicious mustards — not on the menu but came free while we waited, these were delicious and the? housemade German-style mustard was strong and tangy. I wanted to order these but couldn’t. It would wonderful to have these with a beer cheese for late night. –Raw oysters– you really can’t go wrong with a plate of fresh Blue Points, especially when they are shucked cleanly and precisely. –Lobster mac ‘n cheese– CHUNKS of lobster on this ooey-gooey lobster mac. They weren’t messing around –Brewology bison burger — The bison meat in itself was tasty and tender, and cooked perfectly but the oozing stuffed blue cheese places this burger on another level. The celery curls and buffalo aioli add surprising and interesting notes of flavor making this burger really stand out One other suggestion is the dessert milkshake which I believe was made with Old Brown Dog beer, but not sure. This milkshake will bring all the boys(and girls) to the bar for it’s wonderful flavor. Overall, love this place and I highly recommend it. P. S. They have Brewology purse holders for the ladies(or for manbags) if you need one.

Okay soooo finally, I think this is finally a restaurant that will stay in this location. This particular spot(similar to where Tai Show North is in East Setauket) has been plagued by a rotating set of restaurants each of which, have been mediocre at best. They’ve done a fabulous job with the renovations and they’ve maintained a very similar layout to the previous establishments that have habited the location. I’m giving them a 4 Unilocal rating for now since it is their opening night and they are still trying to figure a few things out. I’m at the bar and so far it’s been refreshing to see a lot of the staff from their Speonk-Remsenburg location to ensure that the next few weeks go well. I’ll keep you all updated on my next few visits… until then. THIS has been a review by Gaurav
