My wife and I bought a new 2013 Honda Civic back in January of 2014 and I have to say it was the VERY BEST car buying experience I’ve ever had! The Salesman (Ollie Moss) was Honest, Friendly and Very Informed on the Vehicle we picked out. The Manager that helped us (Mike) was Helpful and Nice to deal with. I didn’t get the feeling that they «just wanted my Money» but that they made sure I got the Deal I wanted and it fit within my Budget. We also had a good time dealing with the «Finance Manager» Kurk Delany, he went over the Paperwork so we could understand everything very clearly. The very best Experience Ever. The reason I’m righting this review is I’ve been back to the Dealership many times for Service and have to say I’ve never felt better dealing with a Car Dealership then I have with the people down at Ron Tonkin Honda! I recommend them to everyone who wants to buy a car! I will defently be a «Customer for Life» !!! Ron Tonkin Honda Rocks! Keep up the good work.

This is our 2^nd dealing with this dealer this year. Sale staffs are wonderfully pleasant namely Tanya, Mike Schultz, and Craig. It is a major purchase so our family tend to joint venture in purchasing a brand new car each time.
We had our fun negotiating the price which they accept to match with competitor price and make it better. Craig himself earned the most stars from us that made us to be a fan from now on.

Great buying experience. Scott Capri was excellent in helping us trade in our CR-​V for one that better fit our lifestyle. Everything from the finance team to sales to after sales service was spot on. We have a great car and open communication lines to our salesman for anything we need in the future. Very Very happy with this dealership and our experience. If you live in Portland, this is the dealership to go to rather than Dick Hannah.

SO ANNOYING! That Andrea Rice women needs to STOP HARASSING potential customers. I am In fact a busy person with many things going on. She INSISTED on calling almost every OTHER hour MANY times a day for a week straight. I ignored her. If that’s not enough she resorted to blowing up my email about trying to get me to come in. The manager needs to address this, it is NOT okay and now I will NOT be purchasing a Honda.

I purchased a used CRV from Steve in internet sales and could not have been happier with the service! He was cheerful and friendly and provided plenty of good information and a few choices other than the CRV (research showed that the cars he recommended were all good options but I preferred the CRV). He explained the options well and gave a great operating lesson, which was needed since the newest vehicle I had ever driven was my 97 Ranger! I found an intermittent issue with the wipers about 2 weeks after I took it home and he and Detrick in service took awesome care of me. Jesse in finance was just as good. I have had some really rough experiences buying used cars, as well as shopping for this one, and can recommend Tonkin without reservation.

I bought my Honda Accord here through the Costco purchase program in 2012. No problem, no haggling, thanks to Costco. My first couple visits to Tonkin’s service center were okay, but the last trip made me decide to never return. I had asked for a patch of a slow leak in my tire. They said it could not be repaired and tried to sell me two new tires instead. I went to a tire shop that fixed the leak in 20 minutes at no charge. At the same Tonkin service appointment I had brake, steering, and transmission fluids replaced, only to discover later that several neighborhood auto shops would have done the job for half of what Tonkin charged me. Beware of the Tonkin Body Shop. They wanted $ 807 to fix a scruff on my bumper. Another shop did the job for $ 320.

Was interested in a Honda Element they had advertised on Craigslist. The salesman we interacted with was such a weasel. He kept acting like our offer was being accepted but burying expensive maintenance packages and extra expensed in the paperwork. We kept telling him the offer we were making was final, just tell us yes or no and don’t waste our time. He wasted our time. Like 2+ hours of our time. Doing that obnoxious car salesman thing where he leaves to ‘talk to the manager’ about our offer, which he obviously is not doing, just to come back with another equally terrible offer with all sorts of hidden expenses in it.

Love Ron Tonkin Honda On 122^nd!!! I have been a customer since 1998, and they have always been courteous and efficient. The service department is top notch. Keep up the good work.

I thoroughly enjoyed buying my used Mercedes Benz from Ron Tonkin Honda in December 2013. Jeff was the sales person and Kurt was the closer. Kurt was PHENOMENAL! He worked with me on getting the best possible deal and finance rate that I could get with my sub par credit score. He really wanted to sell me the car and I really wanted to buy it. It was a win win situation. He worked with the finance company to get me the best APR and terms I could get without trying to milk me for every penny I could or couldn’t afford. I got to know Kurt pretty well through our conversations and what I can tell you is that he is a class act. He is unlike a lot of other dirtbags that have held his position of ”closer”. He actually carefully considers your unique situation and gets to know you as a person. I will definitely go back to Ron Tonkin again to shop for my next car (s).

Every deal they made with us, they ended up breaking. We drive from Salem 4 times to finalize the deal. Promised to replace cracked windshield then basically called us liars when we talked to the service department. When we finally had enough, we asked to speak to the sales manager… We were completely ignored by him and the finance officer came to talk to us. She was one of the people we had a problem with, so no help there. I finally decide to voice my displeasure (in a calm manner). Shelley started talking over me and getting really condescending towards me. At one point I interject and she gets in my face and YELLS «CAN I FINISH!?!». At that point niceties are out the window and I start yelling back about how they have done nothing but give us the runaround this entire time when we’ve jumped thru every hoop and even got our own financing. I ask to see her manager immediately. I step out of her office to wait and am approached by some smart ass goon trying to intimidate me. Sales manager finally makes it to office and Shelley FLAT OUT DENIES yelling at me and said I was pissed for the beginning and started yelling at her. In the end, apparently to shut us up, they agreed to pay licencing fees and not so politely asked us to leave. Wouldn’t shop there again if they were giving cars away for free.

Even though my financial situation was tough, i was able to get a car I feel good about (2013 Honda Fit sport). Linden and Winfred were my salesmen and I would recommend them to anyone. Jess in finance was absolutely amazing too. They all gave me some really good credit advice which I appreciate because this was my first car loan. I was able to get the car I wanted with a warranty and also have a solid plan on how to lower my interest rate in the next year. Also, it was sweet how excited the whole staff got while I was waiting to go in and sign the last bit of paperwork. I received many high fives and really felt like everyone was excited for me. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone!

I bought a brand new Honda Accord here in August and am very pleased with purchase. And Blake was an OUTSTANDING salesperson who really listened to my very particular needs and helped me decide on just the right model and features. The financing paperwork was easy, and they do the DMV paperwork and plates right there, which is fantastic. I couldn’t be happier.
I would give 5 stars, except I was inundated with impersonal poorly-​worded surveys afterwards, and I fear that the upper management misunderstood my responses. If upper management has questions about my experiences, it would have been nicer to get a personal follow-​up call or email from the head honchos.
I look forward to seeing Blake and the rest of the folks I worked with on the floor when I come back for regular maintenance. I’ve recommend to friends and family to go to Tonkin Honda and ask for Blake and no one but Blake.

Went here for oil change and did some purchases on brake and steering wheel fluid. Service was OK, depending on the service agent you got.

as a person who is into cars/​design, the latest and greatest i certainly don’t know as much as i should when it comes to what’s under the hood… ron tonkin is there for me to make sure i feel i’m taken care of and not taken advantage of. i’ve had many cars over the years taken to so many mechanics, dealers etc… here i can honestly say they try to make sure you feel you are in good hands and so super friendly!
i lease a new FIT from seattle but will take my car to them as long as i live closer to portland.
the honda show room architecture is outdated in most honda dealerships at this point but it’s clean and organized and there are plenty of pretty cars to walk around and look at if you don’t want to sit around and wait in the customer area.

I recently purchased a new speaker from Ron Tonkin Honda because mine was fried and wouldn’t work.
I called the parts department to see if they had the part I needed, they didn’t have it in stock but they ordered it and it was there the very next day! It was only $ 18!
The staff on the phone and at the service window when I picked up my part were very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly!

I hope your math skills don’t suck because RTH preys upon the mathematically-​challenged. Our salesman was great. The car we found was great. The skinny finance guy was a snake. He was fast talking and nice but when he busted out the notebook paper and sharpie, I knew something was up. I did the math and knew my approximate monthly payment. We told our salesman 48 months and no extended warranty. The snake changed our terms to 60 months and included extended warranty ($ 2500 extra!!) on the notebook paper. This kept our monthly payment almost the same as what we anticipated. I just happened to notice the 60 months and warranty on the paper work.
RTH almost got an additional $ 3000 out of us so be careful.

We recently purchased a used Honda Odyssey from Tonkin that was inspected at the service department here. Everything went great until the weekend after Thanksgiving when driving down the freeway our van started shaking all over the place. Once we got pulled over and inspected the van and the tires we discovered that the lugs on the back passenger side tire had completely sheered off and we had one lug left holding our tire on.
After getting a tow home (39 miles) the final lug sheered off while the van was being unloaded from the flat bed tow truck. After trying very unsuccessfully for a day and a half to get a call back regarding the issue, I finally got a call from Burton who immediately got the ball rolling. They towed our van to the dealership from our house and proceeded to look for the problem. As soon as Burton tore it apart and discovered the problem (a bent screw in the brake assembly) he called me and let me know and informed me that Tonkin would be covering the cost of the repairs and the tow to the dealership.
This whole situation could have been much worse and granted, it should not have happened (they missed it upon inspection) they made the situation right and got my van back to me today. In total they had my van for 6 days but, 2 of that was a weekend and, they had to order a new wheel for my van.

This review is for the sales department.
My husband and I were car shopping and had found a car on Auto Trader we came to this location to see. The woman sales rep who came out to us literally didn’t say «hello» and just jumped into «is there a car I can help you find?» Could we have been anything more than a dollar sign to you?! We said «nope» and just left.

Don’t misinterpret the 5-​star review… it’s not like I love going to the car dealership. ⁹⁄₁₀ times I go to a place like this, it’s because something is wrong. Yet the streamlined service of Ron Tonkin Honda made the chore of taking my car in almost pleasant.
I appreciate that service appointments can be made from their website, and often at the last minute. From the reception to the service person to the payment window, I have never experienced anything short of spectacular service. They are incredibly accommodating, even offering transportation options if service will take longer than expected.
Clearly, many others have had negative experiences here and I don’t want to discredit anything that they have said. These experiences are real, and my experiences here are a small sample of what these guys do. Yet based solely on what I have lived, I cannot give anything other than five stars for a truly spectacular Honda dealership.
