Taco Del Mar

i went in on oct 23 order a burrito and was disappoint because i was given a lot of rice and very very little meat and beans. This was the second time it happen and the last. I wont be going back I paid 6.50 for a rice burrito. How much longer can they do this before they go under

Very Disappointed! I have gone to this TDM for ages and usually the food and service was great. This last time I went with my sister who told the owner she had a tomato allergy. He said it was no problem and to get the carnitas. She was delighted to have an option for her. He then asked her if she wanted sauce and, assuming it was tomato free said yes (you could not see it behind the heating barrier). After eating a few bites she noticed red things in her burrito. I took it up to him assuming it was just a confusion and asked to get a tomato free replacement. He then proceeded to yell at me saying she said she wanted sauce and when I asked for a replacement he was very rude and said «for free?» I could not believe he was unwilling to replace it. He finally made a new one (the smallest burrito I have ever seen) and demanded that I give him the old one (I guess he thought I was trying to scam him out of a free burrito). We left disgusted that he was so unwilling to help us and got us thinking if he is so worried about the margins of one single replacement burrito, where else is he cutting corners to save money?
Furthermore, my sister had a severe allergic reaction because as it turns out, their rice also has tomatoes in it. I was very specific and questioned each item he put in the burrito and he had to keep asking his employee because he didn’t know himself. I was so disappointed in the whole interaction, he is usually very nice and very accommodating and the whole ordeal has put me off his establishment forever. I approached him with kindness and hoped the mistake was a misunderstanding and he returned my kindness with anger and an unwillingness to help. Completely Unacceptable.
Never going back.

The food was tasty and fresh. The service at times can be slow but the price is right and the food is reasonably good. The only thing keeping me from five stars on this one is sometimes there seems to be a disproportionate amount of some ingredients over others such as too much rice over the rest of the ingredients. However the service every time I have visited has been great. I appreciate the fact also that they don’t over leasees in their meat or rice if you are looking for an overly salted over seasoned burrito go to Taco Bell, this place has my continued business.

I’m confused, how do they manage to make burritos tasteless? Seems like they use really low quality ingredients.
This place is modeled after the chipotle style ‘customized’ Mexican food restaurants. You can get tacos, burritos, quesadilla, etc. all pretty much the same ingredients as a Chipotle, for about the same price ($ 9 for a burrito and small drink) but somehow all kind of blah.
The place was clean and the employee was efficient, so 2 stars…

Went in for a chicken quesadilla. When I started to eat it, I thought I was accidentally given fish. I stopped eating and inspected the meat. Looks like shredded chicken, feels like shredded chicken, tasted like fish. Couldn’t finish and now I have a stomach ache. Weird. Makes me long for a Chipotle to be opened in Poulsbo.

New management! They have been very polite every time we go in! My kids love the place so we go often. The food tastes good, not great but not bad. It’s what I expect from a chain like this. The service is pretty fast, but they only have one or two people working and can get bogged down. We have tried many items from the menu, some are more worth the cost than others. Mondito Burritos are good and a decent size for us. My wife gets the nachos, they have plenty of toppings and are very filling. Overall it is quiet, the service is very good when not too busy and the food is average to above average.

Schlock. The people who work there act impatient and unfriendly. I used to love TDM, it’s been awhile since I’ve been there but the food I got today was horrible. They need to improve before they get my business again!

Meh. Had better, had worse. Food was as expected. Pretty empty at lunchtime. Toss-​up between here and Subway.

Worst food I have had in a long time… ordered a bean and cheese burrito and it was not even edible. Smelled like baby puke.
Also order a steak burrito… meat was completely flavorless and was burrito was cold… cold…come on!
Oh and to top it off, it was $ 13 for thos 2 items…
Needless to say, I will never be back.

Nothing to rave about but good enough for fast food. I had a Mondo FIsh Burrito: the fish sticks had been sitting out for awhile and were pretty much overwhelmed by the rice & beans anyway, but it was still a OK meal for under $ 6 and served in under 5 minutes.

Taco Del Mar is typically a no brainer for me when I want fresh food fast. They certainly aren’t inexpensive, but usually worth a little more for the freshness. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience at the Poulsbo restaurant! I met my parents for lunch on a weekday recently and was really disappointed in the service at this location. I ordered a taco salad and asked them to substitute guac for sour cream and they wouldn’t do it unless I were willing to pay the incremental cost for the guac, really?! Not life and death, but even with a little coaxing they wouldn’t budge. My food didn’t seem quite as good that day. I’m sure my experience of the food was informed by the poor experience. We don’t have many lunch options in Poulsbo, but I won’t return there.

We love Chipotle and Qdoba, but alas neither of these are close to our home. We drive past Taco Del Mar regularly and see it packed quite a bit, so we finally decided to give it a try. Too bad, so sad… doesn’t compare to either of aforementioned restaurants. The chips are worse the tostitos, the queso dip taste like microwaveable cheese. I ordered a carnitas mondo burrito, but really there was a piece of pork lost in a ridiculous amount of rice. Husband ordered a chicken mondo burrito, with the same problem. The girls ate their tacos with no complaint. Overall, we will be skipping this place in the future and taking the trek to Gig Harbor for some Qdoba :)

Service is questionable at times since a lot of the time they seem to want to chat between themselves than take our order, but the food has been pretty good the few times I’ve gone.
The good stuff: Mondo Burrito — Tomato Tortilla with Rice, Black Beans, Shredded Beef, Cheese, Pico de Gallo, Hot Salsa and Medium Salsa. I get the hot and medium salsas because the burrito more often than not gets super dry without it. No guacamole, no sour cream.
If I’m feeling like a fatty that day, I also get a side of black beans and rice to save for the next day. Sometimes, they’ll even give me some hot and medium salsa on the side for free to eat with the beans and rice.
I don’t care for the chips, at all. They’re always too thick and too salty. I won’t even try the guacamole or sour cream because I really don’t feel like having the runs.
All in all, I enjoy the food there — even though I get the same thing whenever I go. But hey, that’s because good is good and you don’t mess with a good thing :-)
I admit that I get tooty after that huge burrito, and I’m sure the rice and beans don’t help. I also find that it’s a pretty good boyfriend deterrent, too. LOL! But I guess that’s the price you pay for yummy monster burritos :-P
I recommend this place to anyone if you don’t mind the hit or miss service. I don’t go there to chat anyway, I do plenty of socializing with the burrito.

CONGRATS! It can be difficult to strive for perfection. Even with determination, execution can be a barrier to reach that illusive level of awesomeness.
Well Taco Del Mar executed ridiculousness at an expert level. I’ll be presenting this store with an award in the near future! It’s hereby the most disgusting thing I’ve eaten recently! I’m inspired and impressed that they reached such a high level of heinous.
A combination of the mushy rice, overly greasy carnitas, random (and suspect) crunchy bits, curdled sour cream, and plastic cheese made my burrito impossible to eat. I was even starving and could barely get through ¹⁄₃ of it. The tortilla that seemed to disintegrate upon any contact didn’t make it easier to eat either.
The chips and salsa were pretty heinous as well. The chips were fine but were on par with a lower-​end brand purchased at a store and were overly thick and not especially crunchy. The liquidy guacamole that managed to be bland and overly salty at the same time was indescribably gross. I’m not sure if there was ever any actual avocado involved in this dish, but wow… if there was any avocado you certainly wouldn’t known!
Next time I feel like throwing away $ 21 I’ll come back here. The $ 10 for my initial and inedible lunch, additional $ 10 to go somewhere else for real food, and the $ 1 used to buy gum that STILL isn’t getting rid of the taste in my mouth was well spent!

The bathroom is disgusting and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. Also they did not have a baby changing station… No way would I ever change my kid on that disgusting floor! It makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is… Stay away!
