888 Chinese Take Out

1. Eggroll — good, hot, crispy, tasty.
2. Egg foo yung — tasteless. Accompanying fried rice = tasteless. Even the gravy that comes with egg foo yung is runny and tasteless. I had to add salt to make all of that palatable.
Yeah, the storefront is pretty dismal.

took three hours to get our food because they forgot about our order. When we called after an hour and fifteen minutes the guy told us it would be here soon. We live five minutes up the road… When we called again 30 minutes later we were told the same thing. It finally came at 11pm and was not great. Very disappointing.

90 minutes to get food delivered. Food tasted like it had been warmed up. Meats all stuck together, cold in middle. Delivery driver just said, «food here» stuffed bag in my hand and took off. Not even a howdy-​do. General Tso’s chicken had one piece of broccoli. Not spicy. Very disappointed.

Shoulda read reviews… ordered at 7 and its past 8:30 and its still not here… havnt tried it yet but at this point no matter how good it is I won’t likely be ordering from here again

I have low expectations for Chinese carry-​out, but this isn’t even Chinese food.
There are 2 other Chinese restaurants that are much better than 888 within a couple miles from Stonehenge.
1) Imperial Garden
2) Chopstix

This roach was really old as he tried to walk across the floor. Times in this restaurant had been good to him and he seemed to have lived a good, well fed, long life I have seen this place for years from the outside but had never been in. It is as nasty as I have ever seen in Raleigh, and it actually had a 94.5 health report. The windows are caked in dirt and grime, and sunlight cannot come through. The cashier had an attitude? I asked him if he could help this old roach across the floor. I said, dude, your place is filthy. He said I Know, we are trying to clean it, and I said, well actually, no you are not.
A lady who had just ordered seemed to take it all in stride, and may have even ordered fried roaches, but I do not know that. If you are heading by, do stop in and see for yourself. I’m now home with my takeout, and searching for things still alive. But now I do not have an appetite, so in the trash It goes. As bad in every way as I have ever seen in Raleigh.

Looking at my beef & broccoli like where’s the beef??? Then I taste it & it went straight in the trash. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!!

Stopped by here over the weekend late in the evening to pick up a to-​go order… Figured what the heck, let’s give 888 a try.
Ordered some shrimp and chicken entrees and sides of rice and appetizers. About $ 50 worth.
Food wasn’t all that great unfortunately. Won’t be back again here as the quality simply was blahhhh.
Plenty of other better Asian takeout places all along Creedmoor. Chai’s or Chopstix are two of my fav goto spots.

Zero STARS the first thing I saw when I walked in was a roach crawling into the box of open cookies in the small and dirty lobby. As I had eaten here before I thought that it was good all I did was an egg roll which was fine but the roach clearly changed my mind today I will not be going back
The person who took my order clearly stated they were going to move the cookies and put a new box out they did but they put that box in the back and I’m sure that Roach will crawl into something else #disgusting
Just remember they got one star because that is the only way you can press ’ continue’

I have been a faithful customer of 888 for about 2 years. Lately I’ve changed my diet to plant based. They have a lot of tofu and vegetable offerings so this hasn’t changed my attitude about their food. You can get any basic options with tofu instead of meat. These are not combo options, instead they are a large serving of the tofu and another container with rice of your choice. Their food has been inconsistent to the point where you can easily tell when a different person is cooking. However they are more inexpensive than most Chinese delivery places in the area so it’s not something that would stop me from being a repeat customer.
That all changed about a month ago and since then I have vowed to never order from here again! I ordered the General Tso’s bean curd with vegetable fried rice, an order of fried bread (Chinese donuts) and a vegetable egg roll. I waited over an hour and the delivery finally came. The delivery guy was nice and made a little small talk while handing over the goods. After he leaves I head to the table.
I pull out the fried bread, I’m 100% positive these were canned biscuits deep fried and covered in plain sugar. They tasted okay but were extremely greasy!
I pull out the vegetable egg roll and took a bite immediately because I’m starving after the long wait, it’s just cabbage and a little carrot. They are tasty and not overly greasy.
I notice there is only one more container. I figured they must have forgotten my rice so I pull it out and see there’s half rice and half something else in the container, like how the combo dinners are served. I’m very disappointed by that because it’s not what I paid for. But I shrug it off since I’d already become accustomed to their inconsistencies as of late. However once I open the container I realize it was sesame CHICKEN, with pork fried rice. I also noticed another egg roll in the bag and I smelled it, it was pork.
Summing this mistake up, I ordered:
1 order General Tso’s Bean curd (large) with vegetable fried rice.
1 order «Fried Bread»
1 vegetable egg roll
I received:
1 order Fried Biscuits
1 vegetable egg roll
1 Sesame Chicken combo with pork fried rice and pork egg roll
So obviously that’s just not going to cut it for me, I wasn’t mad I just wanted something I could eat and was getting antsy since I’d already waited so long. I had placed my order online so I pulled up my confirmation email for reference and called. A guy answered the phone and I explained the problem, he asked me to repeat myself again. This guy was obviously American and spoke perfect English so I’m not sure why but I had to repeat myself about 4 times (literally) before he understood the problem. He had also put me on hold twice during the 5 minute call. I asked him if he wanted my order number and he never answered. After all this he tells me he’ll have them «remake» my food and send me the order as soon as possible. He never apologized or offered a refund or discount on future orders. He didn’t even say ‘Bye’ he just hung up after he said they’d bring me the food.
About 30 seconds after we hung up my phone rang, so I answered and it was a different guy calling from 888. He straight up asked me if I had eaten any of the food they sent me that was wrong! I told him no, and he just said «Okay that’s all I needed to know» and hung up! This baffled me because usually if a place makes a mistake like that they don’t have the gall to question you this rudely! I didn’t know what he was trying to imply by this since I’d literally only received the first order 5 minutes previous to the phone call. I figured maybe they wanted the incorrect food back so I put it back in the bag and waited for the right food to come.
About 30 minutes later my doorbell rang and it was a different delivery guy. He actually apologized for the mix up, handed me the bag and I was sure it had to be correct this time since I’d repeated the problem several times to the first guy so I set it down on my side table and offered the incorrect food back to the guy saying «Do you guys want this back?» he said no so I said okay and he left. I went back to the dining room ready to FINALLY chow down after almost 2 hours. I open the bag and they didn’t give me any rice! And they gave me sesame bean curd, not General Tso’s. I know they’re almost interchangeable flavors but it’s really just the point.
That really sealed their fate on my shit list. I will NEVER give them business again, I’ve told and will continue to tell everyone I know in this area to NEVER order from them again. When I do a Unilocal search for Asian takeout in my area, 12 restaurants pop up. Take 888 off the list and I still have 11 places to choose from. No loss for me.
Other fun mistakes: I ordered a Coke which is listed on the online order from, and received a Pepsi. Sometimes I’d get a large container of rice and sometimes I’d get a small when ordering the same menu option.

RUN! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! I have ordered online for delivery from here numerous times and it has steadily gotten worse over time. It used to be alright, can’t expect too much from chinese delivery but they wouldn’t even send chopsticks… This last time was the end for me ever giving them any more business however. I ordered 2 appetizers and 2 meals one of the meals was chicken and the other beef. When it came to the house I noticed that they mistakenly gave me shrimp instead of chicken. I called and asked what could be done and the woman says ooh you don’t like shrimp!!! Then she straight up asked me if I was sure it was shrimp, really!!! Then an hour after she says they will resend it I call back to find out where my food is she accuses me of lying and has the audacity to tell me that the «chef» said he hasn’t cooked any shrimp tonight and did I even open the box… Then she says that she doesn’t have a driver right then. That is when I got in my car. I went up there and of course the woman there wouldn’t even look at me, with a phone stuck to the side of her face like she can’t be bothered. Then this man said ooh I gave you shrimp… I opened the box and grabbed a shrimp and waved/​wiggled it in the woman’s face and let her know that I am not an idiot and how dare she question me if I know what a shrimp is. The look on her face was worth the whole incident, priceless, she sure didn’t expect me to come up there and she sure didn’t expect to have a crustacean wiggled in her face. They remade the food, but I didn’t eat it and everything we ordered earlier was clearly cold by that time. They refused to refund my money but I did get a $ 10 credit from
. But in a nutshell, never ever again…

This may be the WORST Chinese food I’ve ever had. Extremely greasy and short in flavor. There are much better options nearby.

Your typical fast food chinese but service was better and food was less oilier. The prices are reasonable. Delivery charge is $ 1.50, which is slightly less than pizza delivery. I’d definitely order from them again given that their prices are good, the food is good and their delivery charge is good. They’re located next to Starbucks too so hopefully 1 day they’ll offer Starbucks delivery to their menu:)

I ordered takeout from this place, their seafood delight thing, it was absolutely horrible. I called the restaurant to inform them, a girl says «manager not here, I’ll tell them to call you back «, and hangs up on me. I never got a call back. What a rude place. I will never order again.

Sorry but nope… this just ain’t happening. I could do better with a can of La Choy from Harris Teeter. I don’t know what kind of sauce was on the Pepper Steak with Onions but it was definitely different, and not in a good way. There are too many good Oriental restaurants in North Raleigh than to do this.

I believe everyone has «their» Chinese take out restaurant in their area and when you’re craving some Chinese, only your restaurant will do. 888 Chinese is my restaurant.
I have never received poor/​unfriendly service, slow delivery, or below standard food (below what you would expect when ordering Americanized Chinese take-​out). I always order hunan tofu even though it isn’t on the menu and they never say a thing about it– and it’s always delicious. Also, this place is one of the few that have vegetarian egg rolls which wins my heart. Gerenal Tso’s tofu is also available which is amazing for vegetarians who miss General Tso’s chicken.
It’s a take-​out/​delivery place, so don’t expect to show up and dine with a party– but if you’re starving and don’t want to leave home– it’s a great place to call.

Hunan: I’ve Never been to China, nor New York though this is what I would call NY style Hunan… Black Bean Sauce! I did NOT ask! When they make it this way I’ll confess to things I did not do! I did inquire about the Vegetables and said «ok I do not want any of those Vegetables! I asked for Napa and some Carrots! ok 10 minute — it took about 5 … they were very busy at 1:15 Monday Lunch! Spice level was fine where it was (I made no requests on Spice)…
Hunan: Based on this one Dish and One Dine compared to the same dish in a Chinese Fast-​food Restaurant around the same price this dish gets an easy 5 stars
Hunan: Based on my Lunch today compared to a Fancy Chinese Restaurant where the meal would be Double the Price, this dish still gets five Unilocal stars
Fried Rice was ok
Service was almost ok in a Southern Hospitality way of thinking… I’m not thinking that way… I want Very Good Food (my order was Perfekt!) and the staff does not have to be friendly to get 5 stars
888 :Audacious to Name your Restaurant 88… I have no real words for naming your Business 888… Smart is a start!
Chinese: (it’s part of the Name) if you know nothing about Chinese Food you would probably accept it as…
Take Out: They do have a Single table, though I do not think they mean for you (maybe me after I warm-​up to them a little more… The table is not really set-​up for dining and why would you want to when the Breezeway leading to the restaurant has communal tables (looks like it)!
Stapled Box! Never seen this though I though it was a Great Idea!!! How many times have you ordered Take-​out Chinese and spilled it all over your Hogasaurus Chimp Limo? I’m betting quite a bit! I’ve seen how you pull out of those parking lots!
Open Kitchen (I like) Gas Fires like small jets cooks HOT and Fast! Place is closer to a Hole-​in-​wall in this shopping center which I think is pretty Cool!

Horrible food, even worse service. My boyfriend and I had to wait 2 hours for nasty unflavored food that had obviously been zapped in the microwave. When we called after an hour and a half they pretty much told us to suck it up and wait. Not only was the staff rude, the food was disgusting, and the service was horrible. Do not order here.

Typical Chinese Take-​Out /​Delivery joint. This place is nearly impossible to find. It is located in the middle of the parking lot, in the same building as Starbucks. The General Tso Chicken is served with rice and an egg roll — cost is $ 7.25. Pretty typical price, pretty typical food. The woman who works at the counter taking orders seemed a little irritated and was less than pleasant… but for $ 7.25 Chinese take-​out you cannot be too picky. I would not hesitate to use them again…
