I’m a fan of Chick-Fil A. When I used to travel for work and fly through Atlanta, I almost missed my connecting flight on a few occasions b/c I needed to get my CFA fix before heading back to San Fran. Today I grabbed a #1 at the Crabtree Valley Mall food court. «For here or to go?», she asked. «For here,» I replied. She handed me a table number. Huh? They bring the food out to you, refill your drink, give you a sanitizing hand wipe AND a mint before taking your tray away after your meal! And after you say, «Thank you.» They reply, «My pleasure» like they mean it! Obviously this was a first for me in a mall food court. I love it when a business exceeds expectations for their customers. Way to go, Chick-Fil A!

Chick-Fil A has never really been my choice when it comes to fast food, but that’s also because I’ve never been a huge chicken sandwich person. That has changed this year and I’ve been here almost once a month. Their chicken sandwiches are tasty with just the right amount of condiments on them. Their chicken nuggets, which even as a kid I didn’t like, are good and there are lots of yummy choices of dipping sauces to accompany them. Most recently I also had a grilled chicken sandwich which was okay. It came with all kinds of things to add on in addition to dressing as well. Thought I’m not a big salad person it was made well and HUGE for the price. They added a Yogurt with granola parfait to their menu and let me tell you that is gooooood. This location is in the food court at Crabtree Valley Mall and has great service as well. You know how the service at food courts can be inconsistent? Well this one is always fast and friendly.

What is with the Chick-Fil A near the capital building in Raleigh closing at 2:30PM? I showed up there, excited to have Chick-Fil A for the first time in years, but because it was 2:36PM, Chick-Fil A was already closed for the evening. I felt ridiculous asking people on the street if there was a Chick-Fil A open late night, when it was only 2:45PM. Finally, one nice guy saved me further embarrassment when he informed me that most places close around 2:30PM in that area and so I knew I would have to try Chick-Fil A another day. I was able to later check out another Chick-Fil A on my way to the airport. Though I was slightly concerned that this Chick-Fil A would be closed too since it was already 3:30PM and getting late, I was greeted with open doors. I ordered the Chick-Fil A sandwich and waffle fries. I liked the Chick-Fil A sandwich but what separated this chicken sandwich from only good versus great for me is that it was classic but not innovative. If you like a solid chicken sandwich on a roll, you might love this place but I wanted something a little more special from the sandwich in either the chicken or roll than a simple pickle. I liked the concept of the waffle fries; definitely fun to eat, but besides the fun I had eating the fries, which was considerable, I would have liked more seasoning or flavoring, something that says Wow.
