Peter Chu’s Skyroom

My fiancé and I go up to the sky room for cocktails and appetizers from time to time. Peter and his staff are absolutely fabulous! Peter makes a magnificent dirty martini and the po po platter is fabulous! So much food! I would recommend this to locals as well as those flying in and out of the airport.

Why do people think this place is so great? I have never had nastier Chinese food in my life. Moved here recently from Bend, Oregon and I don’t know if the food is just so much better there but every restaurant I have been to in Redding has been A disappointment. The «Kung pao chicken» tasted like it was cooked in transmission fluid. The chicken was so slimy and weird. The veggies tasted like they were out of a bag. Never going back.

I went to Chu’s today with my fiancé and his family. There was 6 of us for lunch. Prices seemed reasonable for the lunch menu. They brought out a basket of egg rolls and won tons with dipping sauce. There was also egg drop soup served. It was really a lot of food. We all ordered something different off the lunch menu. Once we actually got the attention of a waitress everything was great. Food didn’t take long, it was hot and there was a ton of it! I didn’t like that all of our rice was served together rather then separately. I also thought it took too long to get the attention of a waitress to take our orser. That is the only reason for the 4 stars. Our bill was just over $ 20. I ordered the broccoli chicken and my fiancé had the chow mein. This place won’t be a staple in the lunch rotation just because it’s out at the airport and I don’t live anywhere near, but I’d definitely go again.

Delicious food, quick polite service, never disappointed when visiting. Honey walnut prawns ate absolutely amazing!

Love this place! Great food great people great ambiance and the new renovations just made the whole place better. Come for the food and stay for the views!

The best Chinese food in Redding. Everything is so fresh, the wait staff is attentive, and polite; they always box up my left overs. The servings are huge and the prices are reasonable. The kids love when the airplanes are taking off outside, so the views are a plus. I love to bring my family here and I have also seen just couples here too. They serve hot tea to everyone. I saw many people with bottles of wine and cocktails, so I am assuming that they have a good drink menu. The restaurant is clean and open, not too dark, with a lot of light coming in from outside. If you haven’t been, you are missing out.

I am never disappointed when I go to Peter Chu’s. While the food is always good and always hits the spot, the service is what is exceptional. Today is a perfect example. The restaurant was very packed due to the lunch hour and the fact that a 50^th anniversary party had reserved half of the restaurant. Considering this, you would think that service would be understandably slowed and servers and wait staff could possibly be overwhelmed. However, this did not seem to be the case. The servers and wait staff were amazing! Fast, efficient and pleasant. Seriously, I was blown away. It was like a synchronized dance! If there was chaos, I certainly could not tell. And to top it off our waitress did it all with humor and a great attitude. The crispy quail appetizer is amazing (as always), hot tea, crispy wantons, perfect spring rolls, while you get to watch planes take off and land… what more could you ask for?

Absolutely the best Chinese food in town as well as the best view out the window as the airplanes take off and land. However their prices are a bit higher than most places in town but well worth it. Specially if you’re eating at the restaurant and bar.

Excellent! First time there. Won’t be the last. More food then two can eat in one setting. Walnut prawns, house special chow mein, house special fried rice and egg rolls. Great service.

It’s interesting to find a good restaurant at a municipal airport (Redding, CA). The airport is almost like a ghost town but there’s a bunch of cars in the parking lot all for this place. We’ve been here a few times and we really like it. The food is good and the place has been remodeled (within the last year or so) which is really nice. The servers and hosts are friendly. Family atmosphere! Definitely recommend this place.

Our first time here. It was recommended by friends and Unilocal* by its 4 star rating at this time. But I thought «Really! On the 2^nd floor of the Redding Airport?»
What a great location! Views of the runway. Easy nearby FREE parking. No crowds. Clean charming airport ambiance. Table cloths and well dressed servers.
We had the Orange Roughy with Lemon Sauce, the Tofu and Eggplant, and the Hunan Beef. The roughy was a little too sweet for my sweetie, but I found it fresh, light, and wonderful. She like the eggplant and tofu, but I’m not a fan of either… so we’re even. We both loved the Hunan Beef.
My friends were right. But I disagree with Unilocalers and would give Peter all 5 stars. He deserves them.

Best Chinese in Redding. Great atmosphere once you get past driving to the airport. Friendly staff, quick service and great food. So many options available to choose from.

The food is excellent as with the service. we had Mongolian beef, portions are generous we were able to take some home to have for the next day :-) have been here several times and will continue to visit, love the consistency of good food.

The food is always good. We had orange chicken, Hunan beef and shredded garlic ginger pork. All yummy. They were really busy so the service was a little frantic. Not a lot of smiles from servers… until later in the evening.
One thing is the last two times we have been there I have been unlucky enough to get a dirty dish. Lipstick on a glass… dirty spoon. Bummer… but not enough to keep me away from this good food.

Kind of strange driving to the airport and parking to go eat inside BUT the people welcomed my fiancé and I so sweetly it made us feel better right away.
Not only was the customer service great and we loved our waitress but we ordered four different plates, each one was amazing! Can’t wait to go back and try more!

The food was traditional Chinese, with traditional Chinese spices, but sadly it just wasn’t that tasty, at least compared to Bay Area restaurants. IMHO, Yuet Bistro serves tastier food. Thus, three stars.
What was cool was sitting next to the windows during fire season, and watching the Chinooks and borate bombers land and take off. Lots of activity, fun to watch.

My fiancé and I have been going here for over 13 years. When I was 17, he introduced me to «deep fried bean curd» and we get it every single time we are in town. We haven’t lived in redding for over 8 years now, but it is the place we always want to hit up when we go.
Peter made us crazy hooked up drinks and we were waiting a few times, he’s awesome. In addition, the staff is always top notch. For instance, we were the last customers one night and our food came out perfect, as if we were the first customers of the day.
I love you peter chus, of all the millions of Chinese joints we’ve been to, no one compares to you!!!
