Excellent food and service. The owner is delightful to talk to. The facility is immaculate and beautiful. There is even shade in the parking lot. The Sailing Boat will be one of our regular dining spots.

This place is absolutely amazing… Best Chinese in Redding hands down. I have lived in Redding for 6 years and tonight was my first time here… How the heck have I not known about this place?

I am praying for the severe brain damage of everyone who has reviewed this business with a bad response. This place ROCKEDMYSOCKS. Incredible food. Incredible service. Get your butt over here and stop torturing your stomach with the lack of pure Chinese Glory.

I was with three other people and we had the Sailing Boat dinner for four and it was really, really good. We had hot and sour soup instead and it was kind of odd. It was like a hybrid with egg flower soup but it was good too. It was definitely not a traditional hot and sour soup. The dinner included an appetizer plate that was very good. Lastly there were the five main dishes. We found that we liked four out of the five dishes. The orange chicken was very tough. The sauce and breading on the chicken were good but the meat itself was not. The other four dishes were all terrific, particularly the black pepper steak. The service was also stellar so it was a very enjoyable experience. We look forward to returning.

My husband was sick on his birthday, and since our family dinner fell through I wanted to get him some nice, hot comfort food. I ordered delivery through Entrée Express, and not only did we get every single correct item, but everything was almost too hot to eat. Before they even knew it was my husband’s birthday, they offered a 2-for-1 cupcake deal. I don’t like sweets, but I thought it would be cute since the cake got nixed. Two beautiful cupcakes from the Sweet Shop were in their own little fancy box. For a dollar! He(well, me) ordered the wor wonton soup, chicken chow mein, broccoli beef, and two sides of white rice. One of those actually came with white rice, so we got three sides(it will be put to good use for leftovers). I ordered the paper wrapped chicken and the hot and sour soup. The soup was so delicious and BOILING hot(temperature). I like that they didn’t add red pepper flakes, the actual flavor heat was a slow burn. The paper wrapped chicken was amazing. Instead of getting ready for a bunch of oil pouring out of the wrapper, and working through fatty chunks, the inside was dry, but the chicken was moist and there were NO fatty chunks! I can’t believe we haven’t ordered from here before, but the staff was friendly, the food was abundant, hot, and delicious. We will definitely be back again! *P.S. The reason for the four stars is because as awesome as Entrée Express is, it would be great to cut out the middle man and have them offer delivery.

We’ve been eating at the Sailing Boat since opened. We have enjoyed their delicious food and good service. We had dinner with family, seven of us and had some really delicious food.

Soup was less than warm. Food was extremely bland. I don’t know if they are out of salt and spice or what happened but all the food was very soggy and and had no flavor. The prices are high and don’t match the experience.

Great food and very friendly service. The place is also very clean. My wife and I come in once about every eight weeks. Prices are reasonable.

Hairy Chow Mein!!! I found not one, not two, but three short black hairs in my chow mein today. I do not have short nor black hair. This is absolutely disgusting, if that’s what is visible with the naked eye, I can only imagine what tiny microscopic poisons lie in their food. Just plain dirty. I’m sure chef Ramsey would have a field day in that kitchen! There are far too many quality restaurants in our area, to waste your time on this one. Friends don’t let friends eat at Sailing Boat! They did refund my money after work, but not the delivery charge for entrée express and I still had to starve all day, and you won’t like me when I’m hungry!

I see mixed reviews on this restaurant. My experiences have been from fair to poor, therefore the two star rating, though I’m inclined to have used only one star. I ordered tofu and vegetables previously and it was fairly good, though lacking in much flavor. This time I ordered tofu and snow peas and water chestnuts and mushrooms. A huge disappointment. Tofu was mushy and soggy, there were only a scant number of paper thin slices and bits of mushrooms, and to top it off the sauce with clear and without flavor. A mention of this to the owner yielded only a comment that next time I should tell them to cook the tofu longer. This was a soft tofu and it will not hold up to frying for a solid consistency. Furthermore, I recently ordered pot stickers that were barely warm. Other items sampled also fell short in flavor and quality and quantity of chicken. Overall when compared to other Chinese restaurants I have experienced, the Sailing Boat ranks at the bottom. It is unfortunate because they do have a pleasant environment and there is not much competition in the area.

First time here. Not overly impresses. The food was decent, but not memorable. Broccoli beef was a bit dried out. Wanton soup was a bit weak and wantons were very dense. Mu shu pork was very good, but the wrappers were over cooked(microwaved)? Orange chicken glaze was ok but you could taste the corn starch thickening agent. Next time I’ll go to Panda Express, at least it’s constant and I know what I’m getting.

I’ve been ordering food from these folks through Entrée Express for the last three years — I’ve usually ordered the same thing — walnut prawns — and the house special Chow mein — periodically I try something new– everything lately in the last year has been too dry– last night I ordered the chicken salad — lots of lettuce — tomatoes but very little chicken /what I did get was dry — and my fav chow mein was horrible ! The only thing I liked was the walnut prawns ! I will never ordered from this place again ! Sorry ! Not worth the money or the $ 7.00 delivery charge !

Love this place, Great food. Great service. Great price. Great people. We don’t order takeout so not sure about peoples issues there. As we love Georges personality and that of the staff. General shrimp is wonderful, Mongolian beef is amazing. Its our go to place for Chinese in town.

Awesome food awesome service, one of the BEST Chinese places I’ve been too. The fried food had a clean batter taste, like the oil was fresh. I got the biggest prawn I have ever seen, great place

I always enjoy the food. It’s always delicious and I like the sweet and sour chicken(not the pork). It is our family agreed upon Chinese because we all have our favorites in town but always walk away from the Sailing boat full and happy with the food and service. The service is why they are getting so many stars from me. If its busy they are pleasant, fast and check on you often and one time we came in right before closing on accident and they were the same way and it was obvious they were closed and the only ones in there. Alway consistent with good service and good food.

This place is very good! Although I don’t think you could go wrong ordering anything on the menu, my favorites are the fried prawns and the house fried rice. Yummy! The only thing I would change are the prices… it is a little expensive.

Food was awesome! Not your typical Chinese junk. Ordered the Valentines Day special for two people. The dishes were excellent. Best wonton soup I’ve ever had too. Docked a star for having to wait a long time for drink refills, and for having to have a seat right next to the waiting area. People were standing with their butts literally right next to our table. And it didn’t stop the whole meal. They shouldn’t have a table anywhere near the waiting area. Other than that it’s some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had.

Best Chinese food anywhere! I have traveled all over the place and had Chinese food all over the country and I still have not found a Chinese restaurant that has food as good as Sailing Boat. George, the owner, usually greets you personally and comes to your table regularly to see how you’re doing, he also has plenty of stories about his home in China. Try the minced shrimp tofu, it’s prawns wrapped in fried tofu and it is AMAZING! I have never seen this dish anywhere else and I get it every time. Try Sailing Boat sometime and you won’t be disappointed.
