Boyfriend and I were traveling through and decided to check this place out. SO glad we did! The food was great! The potstickers are homemade and so so good. The best we’ve ever had! We also had the crab rangoons and there is actual crab in the rangoon which is un-heard of these days. They were great! I had the orange chicken and my boyfriend had the beef broccoli special which came with sweet and sour chicken on the side. Everything was great and completely satisified us. The service was okay but overall would be back.

Two issues. Ordered take out, the lady said about 25 minutes. Ended up being almost an hour! The other is with their chow mein. They use some sort of pasta noodle, which was too thin and made it too soggy. The wor won ton soup was pretty good, but that’s kind of hard to mess up on.

If you are not Chinese or have never had good Chinese, you’ll probably be happy with the food here. It’s far, far better than fast-food joints like Panda Express. But if you’re looking for authentic Chinese food, you’ll be disappointed. I tried two beef noodle dishes. My wife had Mongolian Beef, while I had the Beef Chow Fun. In both cases, the meat seemed unpleasantly moist and lacked browning, indicating that it had been steamed with the other ingredients instead of frying in a wok at high heat. There’s nothing wrong with this necessarily, I just prefer a drier frying. As other reviewers note, service here is slow. We waited five minutes to be seated on a slow night. Dishes took 15 minutes and did not arrive at the same time, or with chopsticks. On the other hand, service was warm and inviting. Also, avoid dining in if its busy and you want quiet. The décor does not absorb sound.

Order wonton soup for pick up. They told me its be 15 mins so I arrive about 20 mins later and still had to wait at least 10 mins which was inconvenient considering the soup was for my sick son and I. Lucky the soup was delicious and a big portion! Hope to try again but with better service

Great food! Honestly some of the best Chinese food I’ve had, and the prices are very reasonable. I took 5 family members and we had pot stickers, cheese wontons, and the family style dinner. All excellent. My only problem(and the reason I’m not giving 5 stars) was the service was extremely slow. They seemed understaffed.

The food was wonderful. I thought I just didn’t like egg rolls anymore since I haven’t had a decent one in a very long time. My faith has been restored. The hot and sour soup was so tasty I could have walked away satisfied right then and there. But the rest if my dinner was excellent as well. The portions are huge so I am guaranteed some leftovers. The service was courteous and timely. The only negatives = they weren’t packed and they should be and I live in Southern California so I can’t enjoy them on a continuous basis,

Restaurant reviews are subjective, I know. But, this place was a very bad experience. I came in to order take-out. The place was empty except for one table. No waitress or employee in site. 10 minutes later someone took my order. Another 20 minutes and I’m wondering where my food is. I asked another lady who went to check. She came back with my order slip asking if that was my order. It had never made its way back to the kitchen! After all that, the food was almost inedible. Walnut prawns had very little sauce and were over-fried and too hard to eat. Vegetables were OK. Eggrolls were dripping in grease. For me, I will go someplace else next time.

Maybe the food is not the best but the chicken soup is great, and the service is really nice! I’m traveling here.

This place is amazing it so much cheaper than other Chinese restaurants and their portions are huge! The potstickers are so good because they are homemade. Everything is fresh. The best in Redding in my opinion.

Very blan chow mein, orange chicken and egg too young. The soup was okay. The sweet and sour pork was the best. I won’t be going back ever. The taste just isn’t there.

I ordered the Orange Chicken, takeout, it was ready at the specified time when I arrived. There were five small pieces of chicken, and the rest of the tray was CRAMMED full of fried rice and noodles. I LOVE Chinese food, even bad Chinese food and I never waste or throw food out, but the chicken was so bland and flavorless I ended up hunting in my fridge for sauce, but just threw the last few pieces out. The good: There was a TON of food. I mean… tons. So much fried rice and noodles that I had half of them for lunch the next day. The bad: The noodles and rice was about all I got. I wish I’d thought to take a picture because it was comical how little chicken there was and how stuffed full of rice and noodles the tray was to compensate. The chicken was so flavorless that it was like only tasting the texture of cheap chicken. Summary: I came here because the menu looked good and it was the best price in that area, however due to a bad orange chicken or maybe just an off night… the chicken was so bland and there was so little of it that from now on I’ll spend an extra $ 2 for one of the 4 other nearby Chinese places to get better chicken(and more of it).

Terrible service, waited forever to get food, didn’t have clean dishes & waitress did a poor job. Do not recommend

Kind of expensive and very slow if you order delivery, but far from the worst that you could get. Last time I ended up having a miscommunication that led to not knowing if they were actually delivering my food. I ended up having the pizza guy get here right after the delivery guy finally showed up. Anyway, it could be hit or miss for all I know, or have been an off day. But I had middling expectations so I figure they’re ok. Go for the dinner specials. The extras are cheaper than getting a side order of them for each person, and you can always get the stuff you need more of as a side.

My husband and I wanted to try a new Chinese Restaurant. We have lived less than 2 miles from Golden Lantern for 4 years and never tried it yet! I looked at these reviews and decided the reviews looked good, so we went. We were NOT disappointed! I had a «medium» bowl of hot and sour soup… which not only was the best ever, but it was about 2 full cups of soup! I ate almost all of it! My husband got sweet and sour chicken and shared it with me. It was excellent! Everything tasted very fresh. Even the fortune cookies were better than most places. The funny thing is, my cookie was missing it’s fortune, but my husband’s fortune said, «Share your fortune and it will bring you good luck!» How cool was that? I am super picky about cleanliness in a restaurant. The floors in this place were spotless! I felt like this place was cleaner than the average restaurant anywhere! I totally recommend this restaurant. Go eat there now. :)

DON’T ASKFORDELIVERY!!! I ordered for delivery, the lady said it would take 45 mins, it actually took 2HOURS!!! When the food finally got here, it was the wrong order, the delivery man didn’t have a receipt for me, and the food was cold! Not luke-warm, COLD! Then when I called for a refund they were not at all friendly or apologetic! I would give them ZERO stars if possible!!!

Lots of selection and even has Vietnamese phở. I’m always on the look out for good phở and have eaten it here many times. It’s certainly the best phở in Redding. The broth is flavorful and the portion size is substantial. Other phở places in a redding are lacking in either flavor or size or both. I would have liked to see some tendon in the combination phở though. The service is great and friendly. Come here on a cold day and eat some tasty phở.

An okay Chinese restaurant in Redding. Nothing super special about this place, just okay food. We will go back, but feel the 4 star rating is a bit high for this place. Also the last time we ordered take out, they were running about 20 minutes behind the time they said it would be ready and the sit down area was near empty… Friendly staff and extensive menu…

Way over-seasoned(salty), the meat was chopped so fine it seemed like it was killed twice, and the service was sloooooooooow to boot. If it wasn’t for the convenient parking and nice seating/décor, it would be a 1-stars.

This isn’t a 4 star eatery. maybe a 3. Basic american chinese. Their chicken teriyaki is chicken with gravy. The food was edible but we won’t be returning.

This place has the best chinese food I’ve had in years. Given, I live in Texas which has probably the worst Chinese food in the country. But I grew up in Long Island, NY where Chinese food was closer to being the best in the country. Their BBQ Pork Wonton Soup is absolutely incredible. The serving is humongous too. If I had known, I wouldn’t have ordered the main dish. The soup is a dinner in and of itself. I also had sweet & sour chicken with pork fried rice and lo mein. The chicken was perfectly cooked and just the right amount of crispy. The sweet and sour sauce was great, as was the fried rice and the lo mein. Oh, and a crispy egg roll too. It was so good that I brought a friend with me the next day for lunch. I absolutely had to have that soup again. It was so worth the repeat visit. Also, their pot stickers definitely live up to the good reviews from other Unilocalers. Some of the reviews for this place are completely unwarranted. For example, some guy having credit card problems, or stomach problems. These people don’t deserve the privilege of Unilocaling. Also, a lot of the bad reviews are from when the place was under different ownership. During my two visits, the restaurant was absolutely spotless, the service was impeccable and the food was excellent.
