After driving by this place for months, I finally decided to stop in. The setting is New England chic and inviting as was the staff. I ordered the mac and cheese and was not disappointed. I’ll be back to try more the next time I get hungry on my way home. The bonus was the excellent music selection.

Great food! Came here for a birthday dinner on Sunday, and was not disappointed. We started out with a few apps, and they were delicious! We have bacon wrapped figs which could pass as candy. They were so good! We also had Sirracha and BBQ wings which were tender and flavorful. One person said that they were the best wings they ever had. For dinner, we had salmon, filet mignon, buffalo chicken pizza, cod, moussaka, and prime rib. Everyone absolutely loved their meals. My salmon was overcooked, but wasn’t bad. The rice it came with was phenomenal, but I wish they could have done without the steamed zucchini. I didn’t eat that. The filet(I snagged a piece) was tender and cooked perfectly. For dessert, one of us brought a cake, and the waiter brought it out with candles so we could sing. They took it back and served is slices. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the service, while wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. Could have been because of our semi-large group and the fact that it was a Sunday night in Redding.

Disappointed that there is no more Sunday Brunch. It was so good last year. Just not ready for a burger in the AM.

Really wonderful ambiance, very New England. I had the duck, which was cooked perfectly. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sauce but that might have just been me. Will be coming back!

Three visits, and one takeaway. One acceptable. Two disappointments. One so-so. We pay less for a much fresher salad in New York City at better restaurants. It simply cannot cost more to import fresh produce 60 miles further. The additional tariff for chicken or salmon or… is not warranted with the quality and size of the salad. And the creativity is just not there. Burger — while I’m not a «burger person», there are standards. If a restaurant does it properly in order to satisfy the customer they at least toast the bun, if not butter and toast it. The burger to bun ratio is weighted heavily on the cold bready bun side, making the selection a «bust». And it is obviously not an artisan baked product — it’s right out of the supermarket six pack of buns. The quality of the meat was OK. Not stellar, just OK. Takeaway/to go items — when called in and told 30 minutes, and one arrives 30 minutes later, the order should be ready, not questioned and searched for in the kitchen as if it were a puppy that has gone missing and needs a search party. «Are you sure that was your order?» Really? The establishment relies simply on supply and demand. There are too few selections in the Redding market. While the wait staff is polite and really tries to please, it should not take 15 minutes to get a final check. The«inn» would benefit from training their student level staff and paying one or two professionals to mentor the newbies. Go if you must, but the Roadhouse would be a better bet all the way around unless you absolutely have to stay on this side of town.

They did an AMAZING job with the renovation of this very old landmark in Redding and kept that wonderful old New England feeling alive. I’ve had amazing food from burgers to an unbelievable pork chop that was on special. Very well seasoned and although a very thick cut, was perfectly cooked. Sometimes I go here just to have the apple crisp(a large portion) which is exactly like my Nana used to make!

Being a long time Fairfield county resident this place has always had all of the bones to be a hit. A good location, good parking, and quintessential New England appeal… well…except the food. We scheduled a small party to try out the new owners. When I got out of the car I was greeted to the smell of ripe septic system. Now I gave them a pass on this one as I know placement of these systems can be tricky, especially with older buildings and maybe it was pumped recently or something. The inside is very nice as stated but it ended there. We ordered some calamari and it may have been the worst I have ever tasted. Soggy and the sauce was very very bad. The meals were all just OK, which would hve been fine if not for the very high price. I would rate the burger a solid 3 or 4. The salads were all meh as well. The wait was ridiculously long to be server and while the waiter was seemingly trying it fell way short. Maybe we just hit them on a bad day but I doubt it. I will try it again if it they get new owners, which if history repeats itself… it will.

I became a vegetarian about 6 months ago. Try the Hipster sandwich — a black bean/brown rice patty with roasted pepper… It is way better than a burger. Sub out the fries for salad — nice!

It is amazing! The environment, food and service. I ate goat cheese and caramelized onions and the signature plate, both delicious. This place is located in middle of nowhere, which gives a great calm sensation.

Really enjoyed our meal — our second time here since it reopened. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Great way to close out the weekend on a Sunday evening. Great burgers, great kids meal options and Portobello fries were yummy!

Best described as a high end family restaurant with a contemporary menu. Had meat loaf, sea bass and finished with apple crisp all very tasty and well prepared. Service was a little slow, but food was cooked to order and when it arrived.

Have been to the Spinning Wheel Inn twice now; once for sunday brunch and once for dinner. Both times my family and I were very impressed with the overall experience. The décor is impeccable; the new owners have really embraced the heritage of the building and have restored it with the charm of Redding in mind. At brunch we were met with a fantastic spread, and some members of my party particularly enjoyed the bottomless mimosas(thanks mom) and bottomless bloody marys(in-laws! Yesss) that come as an option. Note to self: come back with someone to drive me. The dinner we had on the patio a few weeks couldn’t be beat. The meatloaf is particularly tasty, and the sea bass was cooked to perfection. It was about 70f out, cloudless sky — epic! Final thought on the staff — they seem to be mostly local kids. While they’re not highly trained Manhattan caliber waitstaff, I think it’s awesome that the new owners hired local. This restaurant is certainly a gem for Redding and my family and I will surely be back for many more occasions.

So I’ve been to the Spinning Wheel a few times since it re-opened and have always had a nice time. But I went to Mother’s day brunch and was just so disappointed in the pricing. I had been to brunch the week before and it was $ 20 as all of the reviews mention. I called for a reservation for Mother’s Day and was not told that they were more than DOUBLING the price for that special day. They accommodated a last-minute change in our reservation which was really sweet, but $ 46 for a buffet brunch and one beverage(hot coffee or tea, a bloody mary or a mimsoa only — they CHARGED us for iced teas). The food was delicious and plentiful, but it is a buffet. At $ 20 the buffet brunch is quite a deal. To hike up the price on the backs of us moms who work so hard, makes me think twice about ever coming back. A real shame. p. s. I also don’t know what it is about the place, but parents seem to think their kids should be able to run all over the place and not stay in their seats — almost palatable for a less expensive meal — but at basically $ 50/pp I expect peace during my meal.

The Spinning Wheel has all of the right ingredients to be an amazing restaurant, the ambiance, the location, the staff… But both times we have gone we have been really disappointed with the food. While their menu is a bit sparse in terms of creativity, they do offer a wide range of items and have a great beer and wine list. What really disappointed us was the fact that as you pull up and walk through the door its easy to have very high expectations because the place is so nicely done, who ever did the renovations and decorating here really nailed it, but the food does not stand up to the atmosphere. I think perhaps my husband and I are guilty of seeking out restaurants with chefs who really have a passion for food, places like Baileys Backyard, The Little Pub and Clock Tower Grill. The food here is really comparable to any american pub, or dive. Its not horrible by any means, but its nothing to make us go back again– and I say that with the ultimate remorse because as I mentioned, its beautiful, comfortable, the staff is great and its super close to our home. We want to love the Spinning Wheel, but there are too many other places who offer what they offer and do it much better. Their crab cakes are so doughy and bready I could not even eat them, it was a shock. I eat crab cakes at almost any restaurant that serves them and I have had them many ways. These were heavy, filled with way too much bread and mush and had very little crab. When I think of a crab cake, I think light & bright with the flavors of scallions, and other ingredients and a slight crispy brown edge. They were sent back. Their Sea Bass is good, my husband ordered it and I also had it with him, very nicely done. Their burgers need help. The meat has no flavor, there is no juice, and they are just so disappointing overall. There are about 6 places I can think of off hand who make amazing burgers in the area if you are looking for a quick cheap meal– this is not one of them. VERY basic. They do offer a veggie burger– which we didn’t try, but it was nice to see it on the menu because we have children who have to avoid certain foods and not many restaurants offer alternative options. The cannonballs were under-seasoned, greasy and just okay. The french fries are also desperately in need of salt, or better yet a different recipe– they are really thick, dry steak style fries, with little flavor. In an ideal situation a new chef would swoop in and take this place to the next level. There are so many amazing farms in the area and in a new era of farm to table dining there is an entire market waiting to be tapped– I wish they would jump on it and push forward. As I said, the place is OK, but unless they get someone else in there to breathe a little life, creativity and excitement into the kinds of food as well as the quality we wont be back for a while. Their food standards should be every bit as high as the beautiful restaurant they have built.

Love this place! Recently stopped by for brunch and it was fantastic. $ 20 for an all you can eat buffet and $ 9.95 for a bottomless mimosa or bloody Mary. I went for the mimosa and it was really good, and my waitress made sure it was always full! The food was phenomenal, pretty much anything you could ever want from brunch. Ham, roast beef, waffles, eggs benedict, omelets, sausage, bacon, muffins, pastries, donuts, yogurt, soup, fruit, salad, and anything else you could ever want. I have also been there for dinner and drinks and everything is always good. The waitstaff is not perfect, but it is a local business and they like to hire high school kids and locals to keep money in the community and I applaud them for that. You’ll always get good service, but some of the staff is a little shy. The building itself is gorgeous. There is always a fire in the fireplace and the restrooms are sparkling clean. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dinner, a delicious breakfast, or just a drink on the way home!

A charming place with great food. I had the pan seared scallops which are normally served with a white chocolate and sherry cream sauce. I’ve heard it’s wonderful but I don’t like chocolate so I asked for no sauce. The scallops were perfectly seared and I know scallops. Can’t remember when I’ve had better. My husband decided on the Cobb Salad which was beautifully presented and he tells me he enjoyed every bite. We split the apple crumb dessert and it’s to die for. We had to wait a few extra minutes for it and it was explained that each one is made to order. Well worth the wait. Large enough that 3 people could split it and it would still be a lot. Great cocktails, they had all the right liquors. Awesome beer menu including delicious artisan beers. Place is spotlessly clean. Service is attentive and friendly. We were very very pleased overall. This is our new favorite place. If I want to impress anyone with food, ambiance, and New England charm, I will take them to The Spinning Wheel.

Great, one-of-a-kind restaurant in this tiny neighborhood. As Cliff B. described, it really feels authentic but also cozy and clean. The bread basket is always full! The beer and wine list is really impressive, one of the best in a 50 mile radius. I love that it’s a great spot for families, but 20– and 30-somethings can gather and feel like they’re doing something cool, too. Salads are abundant. The burgers are juicy. High, high recommend.
