There is nothing like Jimboy’s, anywhere! It’s a totally unique flavor. It is definitely not what you’d call authentic or traditional Mexican Cuisine, so to speak. For cheesy, Parmesan dusted, on the greasy side, tacos? Come get your fix. Then again, this is one of those places that some people do not like with a passion. My theory about that segment of people, is that they probably go to Jimboy’s with the wrong set of expectations. Their breakfast burritos have potato, and are cheesy, and amazing as well. This is my undying guilty pleasure!

I liked it up until my girlfriend discovered a hair in her quesadilla. Seemed this happened before according to a review here. I ate here a month ago and could just be the last time I ever visit this location. At least I got my money back.

One thing i miss about Reno is jimboys tacos. Iv been craving them for several months now. My family and I had to come up from California over the weekend for some business, so I decided to go to this location for some of their og beef tacos. It was probably about 7ish at night. We decided to go through the drive threw… BIG mistake! There was a car ahead of us which looked like he had already been sitting there for a while. I didn’t see any employees or anything inside the restaurant. Finally about 7 minutes later I see the employee hand a bag over to the the car ahead of me. Car drives off. I pull up to the window, and see no one. About 5 minutes later I see a Hispanic guy possibly in his early to mid 50s walk up to the window and charge me(in Spanish) which is cool, I speak fluently. UNFORTUNATELY, I didn’t have enough cash. So I gave him my bank card. He runs my card(which took longer than usual) he then opens the window and tells me, «I need your pin» I’m like ok, bring the pin pad. He says, «no, the pin pad can’t reach that far, I need your pin give me your pin». I tell him, «no, I’m not giving you my PIN number, run it as credit instead of debit». He then says, «I am»(BS). I get out of my car reach way inside to punch in my pin. He slides my card again as I’m watching and the screen prompts me to press«enter» to continue. So I do. Then the screen says, thank you and spits out my receipt. Never even asked for my pin. I was annoyed, but whatever. I wait close to 10 min longer when the guy shows up again gives me a couple bags. I didn’t check if everything was there because I just wanted to get back to my hotel, feed my kids and chow down on some jimboys tacos. I get to My room, and guess what?! There was 2 tacos missing. And they weren’t the regular cheapy 1.50 tacos. They were the steak taco meal that cost me nearly $ 8! So I decided to go back. I left the food I already had for my kids and husband to eat. I felt there was no point in me taking the bags back. I drive up to the drive up window. A young guy was cleaning the drive up area on the inside and saw me. He completely ignored me. I was out there for about 10 minutes with about 3 different employees making eye contact with me, one being the guy who I dealt with 20 minutes earlier. Finally I laid on my horn. The young guy comes up to my Window, I calmly tell him that I had 2 tacos missing from my order. I hand him the receipt. He then goes to the back and gets the previous guy. The guy comes up to the window with an attitude tells me in Spanish, «what?» I tell him what’s going on. He tells me, «let me see the bags» I tell him, «I don’t have the bags, I left them with my kids, they are hungry» he says to me, «Well I need the bags» and walks away with my receipt in hand. So I ask him, «so what, am I getting my 2 tacos you shorted me and he walks back and tells me, «yeah! But next time bring the bags so I can verify, this is the last time I’ll be doing this». Excuse the eff out of me! Who made this guy«the taco police», he ain’t doing me any favors… I paid for this 2 effing tacos! now I’m pissed, because does this guy really think I’m going to come all the way back to get free tacos?! Do I look like a tweaker that’s just trying to get free food?! NO I don’t! Anyone that looks at me or knows me knows that I ain’t hurtin. Anywho, I say nothing to this rude employee. Quite frankly I was scared he’d spit in my food. It takes this guy 7 minutes to come back with my two tacos. As he’s giving them to me he says, «like I said before, next time bring your bags so I can check them.» I then tell him, «no! Next time watch what you are doing and get the orders right!» I drive away. This guy was standing there almost reprimanding me as if I was his child! I came back to my room to see that my family had not eaten yet. They were waiting on me. We eat, the taco were now cold and soggy. Iv got to say that this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. This guy is very lucky I held my composer, because I could have given him an ass chewing he’d never forget. I will NEVER come back to any jimboys tacos in Reno/sparks. I’ll just take my ass to Sacramento next time.

I love going here, and normally it’s just two people that are working when I’ve gone. The two guys that work there are a lot better than when there have been two girls working there, and I think it’s because the guys work hard and pay attention to the orders as they were ordered than the girls have. Tonight, the guys were there, with a girl, and I didn’t get my order right. I ordered a #5 with everything being chicken, and what I ended up with was a chicken enchilada and beef burrito, which is not what the ordering guy rang up either. I think that the girl that was in the kitchen didn’t fully read the full order and just thought that I on;y wanted a chicken enchilada and beef burrito, which I didn’t want or order. The beans haven’t tasted as good lately as they usually do taste. They seem to not be made right, sit around a long time, or something just doesn’t get mixed in right. Usually I do get what I ordered, but I think when there’s more than one cook in the kitchen here, everything gets messed up. It’s all good, but when I don’t get my order right, it makes me think that someone doesn’t care about what the customer has asked for. My mom wanted a cheese and onion enchilada, and didn’t get any onion in her enchilada, and it is basically a tortilla in soup. There’s no substance to even know that it is an enchilada. She asked for a 6-pack of tacos, and said that her first one was good. The salsa bar needs to say what each salsa is, and not just say that they are mild or hot with a jug of jalapenos in their own spot.

There is something about Jimboy’s, greasy, Parmesan crusted chicken tacos that just call my name. So after having to drive out to sparks after work,(I work off South Meadows) I went a little out of my way to get there… nothing else sounded good! I ordered their Chicken tacos, their street tacos and a side of rice. The man had a bit of a hard time understanding me, but I was able to get my food ordered soon enough. The drive thru moved very quickly and soon I was in taco heaven! Man oh man those chicken tacos NEVER disappoint! The street tacos were good although the chunks of onion were a bit big for my liking… I liked the cilantro and the carnitas one the best. Finally the Spanish rice which is smothered in red enchilada like sauce and cheese, all melted and delicious!!! That’s easily the best side of Spanish rice available in town! I had my dad finish my last chicken taco and he was surprised! He hadn’t had Jimboy’s in years and was quickly regretting not eating there more often. When I get a craving for fried shell Tacos, this is my go to for sure.

Well I ordered the super burrito but wasn’t told it came with hair. While eating my shredded beef burrito a large, 7 – 9 inch black hair was included which I pulled out with a bite. First and last time eating here.

I’m a little indifferent towards this place. It’s an okay Mexican restaurant and I like their carne asada tacos better than any other place I’ve been too. I’ve tried their beef tacos and it they were disgusting. Also they are pretty expensive to be this mediocre. I got a steak quesadilla, and a steak tack, with guac and sour cream and it came out to over 9 dollars. Also the quesadilla was extremely small! Not even two tortillas just a half/rolled flat one. I also didn’t get a drink btw. They also take forever in the drive through snd once I got to the window(I had two orders) they only got one order after waiting 20 minutes so I had to wait another 10 – 15 minutes for them to recognize I was still sitting there waiting for my food.

I have eaten here many times. Every time I get an upset stomach and spend a few minutes doing what I have to do to take care of that. I don’t know how they prep their food, but, somebody should do a thorough investigation into this place. I cannot eat again, even after I thought to myself that ‘this time’ it’ll be different. It wasn’t.

Jimboy’s is the thing I miss the most about living in Reno. I have so many find memories of needing a late night snack and heading to this Jimboy’s to rectify the situation. Since I was last in town this location received a remodel, and it looks great! On my way out of town I stopped in to get some food to bring back to Portland with me. I ordered a few burritos and an order of their Spanish rice with extra sauce and extra cheese,(You have to order it like this… it’s amazing!). I decided that I should order some breakfast too as it was 8:00AM. I ended up snagging a fiesta breakfast burrito. This was my first time trying a breakfast burrito from Jimboy’s and boy was is fantastic! I wish I had ordered a few more for later. The fiesta burrito has scrambled eggs, cubed potatoes, two kinds of cheese, and a bunch of green chilies inside. The tacos here are also a must try. They offer different meat tacos as well as a vegetarian one. The awesome thing is that the tacos have parmesan cheese crusted to the outside of the shell. So tasty! The service I have received here over the years has always been great. They even have a drive thru if you don’t want to go inside. This place blows all the other fast food Mexican restaurants away. If you are in the Reno area it is very much worth checking out.

This is for the unlisted location on Virginia street(Isabel road dead-ends across the street). Different Mexican food than I’ve had elsewhere, and really good! Everyone who has waited on me there(drive-up window) has been very nice, and had no problem not putting onion on my food(unlike every taco bell I’ve ever been to). The food is not prepared beforehand, but made fresh. There’s even real fish in the fish taco’s! I’ve been eating here over the years I’ve lived in this neighborhood. A note to the handicapped: They, unlike SOME chain food establishments, have NO problem serving people on mobility devices at the drive-up, understanding that coming inside just isn’t possible/practicable.

I go here on Taco Tuesdays even though you aren’t really saving much money. Excellent, cheap beef tacos. The people who work here are fast and friendly too. Place could be a bit cleaner.

I have eaten at many Jimboys and this is the only one worth my time. The two men who run this location in the evenings make the best tacos. I have gone at other times during the day and the food just isn’t as fresh and amazing. I have become a regular and they make me feel welcomed and remembered. If you’re looking for a quick taco for dinner or after you have had a long night out this is the place to go!

Thanks for the stale, reheated, cold in the center, bean and cheese burrito, for my THIRD visit in a row. Get a grip guys. You have a reputation to uphold and as a life long customer, you are not doing that. I am hopeful that this is a problem with your location, which I will never visit again, and not all of your locations.

I love jimboys! It’s only a couple of blocks from my apartment which is convenient :) The food is cheap and delicious. Although a little greasy, jimboys is by far my favorite place for fast Mexi food. The beef tacos are bomb! I haven’t tried it yet, but they also serve breakfast 7:30−10 or 10:30 am

Tried out this place on a whim while I was in Reno. It looks like of run down and ugly but the tacos were really good. They’re cooked in a special way. Jimboy tried different ways to create his unique taco until he thought it was perfect. I recommend reading the story on how jimboy developed his method for making tacos. We have the shredded beef tacos and they were really flavorful but were cooked in a way that the edge of the tortilla was nice and crispy! Very delicious! I also really like how they put the tacos in a special paper so you can eat your tacos but all the contents won’t fall out. Genius! I’ll be going back to this place next time I’m in Reno.

Tons more authentic than Taco Bell and Del Taco(although I have nothing against either one of them!) One thing you’ll notice right off the bat is that this is the slighty greasy type of Mexican food that you predominantly see in Mexican restaurants vs. fast food outlets, so it’s awesome. Never had a bad menu item, although I didn’t really care for the salad that comes with the combo platters. Note the tacos are sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Definitely try the tacos, quesadillas, salsa/pepper bar, and rice.

Craving this delicious fried and cheesy taco in Reno, and there was one near my hotel! Walking there was a breeze, not the best neighborhood though. I liked my tacos, just the basic tacos, nothing fancy, but I have had better in Sacramento. I still would go back, you could just see the burnt black cheese/taco, through me off a bit.

Solid Jimboy’s in the wonderful city of Reno. I had the feeling of euphoria after scarfing down three tacos smothered in taco sauce. I sat in complete happiness before deciding that a quesadilla was needed for the walk home. Super awesome spinning sign.

Can a chain be as good as a mom and pop taqueria? Yes. And this is the place. The service is routinely efficient and friendly. The hours are generous. The menu is interesting(hamburger taco! flautas, etc.). I’ve gotten burritos at another location and they were just okay, but the tacos fricking rule! They grill them just enough to make them a little stiff, but they are still flexible and don’t just crack. They put some parmesan on the outside of the taco creating a nice flavor addition and some good texture. They have a good variety of salsas to accompany the tacos with a nice little salsa bar you can visit on the way out. I’ve gotten carnitas, fish, chicken and hamburger tacos as well as value menu items like the quesadilla and was pleased every time.
