Very good food, Great staff! They will take care of you, my wife found her dish just slightly to spicy but didnt say a thing they came around and insisted they replace it with a new choice. I will definitely be back.

Quick family meal after a school event. Atmosphere is ok but the restaurant could use a but of a freshen up. Service was good. Drinks and chips and salsa were filled promptly. My daughter had a raspberry/strawberry smoothie she loved. My husband tried it and said it was awesome as well. The food was ok. My dinner combo was sort of tasteless. The sauce for the chile Relleno was bland, the enchilada sauce was the same. I never tried the beans and rice or the taco as this all went home for leftovers. My husband ordered the enchilada and taco combo he thought it was delicious. As far as value and price I am not impressed. I did love the chips and salsa and pico though. I would say this is an average family Mexican restaurant.

Every time We go in they are extremely nice and quick. The food is always fresh and hot. I love the fresh chips and salsa they have for you right when you are seated. Even when it is very busy they don’t have you waiting very long. Last week I had the pork tacos from the lunch special and it was delicous! We have only been in during lunch hours.

I’ve been looking forward to trying this place for months, but was sadly disappointed. Atmosphere: 3 out of 5. There was a definite odor once arriving which made me worry about the possible food poisoning I might experience later, I should have left then. Service:average, the servers are nice enough but not overly helpful. Drink refills on soda and water non existent, and trust me you need them to wash down the food. Drinks: I ordered a Margarita which was great, but no refills on water and soda which like I mentioned, much needed. Food: I would visit again if my food was better. I ordered the number ten, tamal, enchilada and Chile relleno. It was very bland, no bland would have been better than the over cheesed, salty mess that I was served. Other than the saltiness, there was no distinct flavor. I spent 14.00 on food I couldn’t stomach down. I even sampled my husband’s chimmichanga which tasted exactly like my meal. If I could have enjoyed my meal and didn’t leave hungry and probably bloated from the massive salt intake I would rate this place higher but as it stands now I’ll be looking elsewhere for margaritas and Mexican food, and it pains me to write this because the people are nice and it does Ave great happy hour deals but for the price we paid for lunch, I’ll go somewhere else.

Awesome food and a pretty killer happy hour! We stopped in for happy hour and grabbed some dollar tacos, a couple appetizers and a few margaritas. I have to say the tacos were impressive alone, I had a ton of steak on my tacos I had it spilling all over my plate when I took a bite. I had a mini carne asada platter left over when I was done. We got shredded beef taquitos which were cooked perfectly and delicious. And we also got some bean dip to go with our chips and salsa which was interesting because they layered the beans in on top of salsa verde which is the way I personally do it at home. Finally the margaritas were pretty hefty for being the cheap happy hour specials. Two of them was a perfect way to unwind after work. I highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back for sure!

Murrietas is your place if you’re looking for good happy hour deals! I’ve been here a handful of times and had both good and so-so experiences here. One time they gave us a beeper and told us it would beep when it was our turn. After waiting an hour we asked why it was taking so long, and they said they called our names awhile ago. Not sure why they gave us a beeper if they weren’t planning on using it, and we’re just going to call our name. The hostess was a little rude at the time, but we moved on and ordered. Food was pretty good, I believe I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. My family and I love coming here for happy hour though! The buy one get one free margaritas is a deal that can’t be beat, especially because they aren’t liberal with the tequila! They also serve dollar tacos during happy hour which aren’t incredibly flavorful, but they get the job done for a dollar a taco!

I should have listened to the children. I was craving Mexican food and we had a coupon for Muriettas. The kids whined and complained and wanted to go to Juicy’s but noooooooooo I had to have my Mexican fix. I had a combo with a tamale, an enchilada, and a taco. The taco was marginal yet it was the best of the plate. The enchilada was bland and boring. The sauce saved it by being pretty good. The tamale sucked. So bland! The beans were ok. The rice was actually really good. The whole plate came out not very warm. The kids had… What else… Cheeseburgers. They liked them. Both kids had beans and rice with their cheeseburgers and they seemed to really like them. I don’t remember what my husband had, but he said it was just ok. A couple of things really grossed me out, I think they’re worth mentioning. Maybe they’ll see this and fix these issues. 1. The booth had some sort of microsuede fabric that was filthy. I’ve had a microsuede couch, that thing was a pain to clean. Why would you have that in a restaurant? You can’t wipe it down with bleach solution. How many years worth of crud was I sitting on? My son wore shorts and wound up having to trade seats because crumbs were sticking to his legs. So gross. 2. The side of the bar we were right beside was obviously a drop off spot for dirty drink ware. I get that they need a place for this, but it would be cool if someone cleaned it off. The collection grew to probably over 30 dirty glasses while we sat there and no one moved them. What a view, a bunch of margarita scum and lip marks.

Good food; Terrible service. With so many great mexican restaurants nearby — unless a margarita and chips&salsa do it for you for 45+ minutes and dinner taking 2hours go elsewhere. We had a coupon from a fundraiser book so decided to give it another try after poor service on last visit July 2014. Seated within 10 min, after 15min got the drink server and asked then ask for our waiter since hadn’t seen one in our section. Food took another 45 min to arrive. Waitress had a hard time serving the scalding hot plates across the table, 4 dinners out of 6. The remaining two took 10 more min. Asked for bill 3x before arrived, and then had to have it fixed since tried to double charge us. Was tempted to give lower stars but food was good so didn’t want to skew anything overtly for poor staff.

Really enjoy this place during happy hour! Monday — Friday you can enjoy 2 for 1 margaritas and dollar tacos! They have beer specials too! This is a great middle ground for my sister and I to meet up! In order to get the happy hour prices you have to sit in the bar! FYI Today we came in, sat in the bar, and were greeted right away. Drink orders were taken, and some fresh chips and salsa were brought out. They serve you hot homemade chips and TWO different types of salsa. One was a pico and the other a finer more spicy salsa. Both on the house! We munched on those till our boys arrived and then ordered tacos. The tacos are a la carte. You have your choice of shredded meat or ground. I got a chicken and a beef. Both were great! I’d highly recommend this place! Great service!

This place is great for happy hour. I like to meet friends here, sit in the bar and get 2 for 1 margaritas discounted beers, and dollar tacos. You can choose what kind of taco you want, and it comes just the taco, no sides. Perfect for someone who wants a drink and something small to eat. In the bar area, there are tables, booths, a tv, fireplace, and a full bar with machines you can sit at too. There also is a whole resturant section seperate for a better family friendly setting. Everytime I’ve gone, our group has always gotten good service, the food has always been hot, fresh and delicious. They also provide two really great types of salsa to munch on too, complements of the house. This place is really good!

Pros: food, service, menu options, outside seating, and comfortable booths Cons: bathrooms and one employee Upon walking into Murrieta’s we were immediately greeted, sat, and served drinks. One of the reasons that I love going to Mexican restaurants is because you are given chips and salsa while you wait for your food. Another is Dos Equis Lager. Murrieta’s fulfilled both of these request very quickly. The booths and tables were very spacious and comfortable, making for a nice dining experience. Our Servers name was Memo(Me-mo) and he was one of the BEST servers I have had at a restaurant in a long time! He was very personable, fun, and knowledgeable about the menu. Memo also had some fantastic recommendations. I HAD: BISTEKPICADO.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. . 13.49 Tender strips of steak sauteed with jalapenos, peppers, onions, and salsa verde. Your choice of tortillas. Memo gave me a clear warning that this dish was spicy. I was sure that there was no way it would be too spicy for me to handle. I was wrong. The dish was super delicious, though it kicked my butt with every bite. I drank at least 4 cups of water and had sweat dripping down my forehead. Lesson learned, the server knows best. There was one employee who seemed like she really didn’t care to be at work. She filled our water once, so it really wasn’t a big deal. Our server more than made up for her poor demeanor. The only thing that is really holding this review from being bumped up to a 5-star was the bathroom. It was in some serious need of attention. Enough of the very minor setbacks. Murrieta’s was a very good Mexican restaurant, with good food and comfort, they were worth the trip across town to try it out. I would put them among my top 3 choices for Mexican dining. The service here is what really made the experience good. These guys are doing a good job, hopefully the next visit hold up to the same high quality.

First off, this is actually more a 3.5 review. While I wanted to be able to give it 4, this is just one of those experiences I just can’t seem to round up. Murrieta’s has always been a Mexican restaurant I liked, but rarely visited. I think that’s mainly because I used to go to the Sparks location with an old friend, and since he left, I don’t really get out that way very much, and the South Reno store just doesn’t come to the top of my mind often. For some reason, I always remembered it being kind of sleepy, but when we stopped in last week, this place was hopping. What I love about Murrieta’s is the variety on their menu. They’ve got the typical enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and chile rellenos, but as most know, I appreciate those signature dishes that you just aren’t going to find on anyone else’s menu. Well at Murrieta’s, those are the Pambasos. Hard to pronounce but easy to put down, Pambasos are small, light, and pillowy rolls, dipped in a red chile sauce, and crisped on a flat top to trap the flavor and moisture. They’re cut to create a pocket, and then stuffed with your choice of meat. I usually get a chorizo, al pastor, and lengua! I love that they offer these meats on their regular menu. On this visit, from the minute we walked in to the moment we left, the service was impeccable. Our server knew the menu front and back, was great at making suggestions, and visited at all the right points in the meal. He made sure water glasses were filled, chips remained in steady supply, and that we had everything we needed to enjoy the meal. If rating on his service alone, it would be 5 stars. As for what we ordered, when we were seated I could hear and smell fajitas, and had my heart set on them. But as usual, I looked over the menu and made my decision more difficult by eyeing the carnitas. Fortunately Ashley and I decided to share both dishes! The carnitas were well seasoned, moist, tender, and slightly crispy from a little bit of time on the flat top. They were some of the tastiest carnitas I’ve enjoyed in a while, and it’s a dish I’d be happy to order again. The fajitas smelled and looked delicious when they arrived, and they were served sizzling on a seriously hot skillet. Unfortunately, something was wrong with the beef though, and it had an off flavor which sort of spread through the dish. The portions on both were ample, and we took home leftovers from both plates, and our server got us extra salsa to take with it. I had the leftovers the next day, and while opening the salsa containers I noticed the green salsa had expanded overnight and sort of popped when opened. I thought air must’ve gotten trapped in it and dipped my first bite in. As soon as it hit my tongue I knew it was spoiled, and I didn’t eat it. Kind of weird to encounter the same thing twice here, and I’m hoping it was a total fluke. This Murrieta’s is close to home, and as our usual Mexican spot has been ok lately, I think we’ll definitely give it another shot in the future. I know if that beef had been fresher, those would have been the best fajitas I’ve had in Reno, and just one more reason why Murrieta’s is a local favorite.

Came here this evening with Michael T. — we were pleasantly surprised to see the place almost full when we arrived for dinner on a Sunday night around 5:30pm. We were seated promptly and greeted by our waiter who asked us if we had been in before. I always appreciate being asked that questions as it is a sign of good and personal customer service. After milling through the menu, we decided to share the carnitas and the combo fajitas. We asked the waiter if these were good choices and he said absolutely — two house favorites and very authentic. Perfect! As we waited for our food, we munched on some chips and pico. The chips were on the greasy side and thicker than I prefer. I had a handful and decided not to fill up on these as we had plenty of food headed our way. When the meal arrived, the presentation certainly excited me. For some reason, not many places in town do real sizzling fajitas and I’m happy to report that Murrieta’s does. I also thought the combination would be chicken and steak but it included shrimp too, bonus! The chicken was delicious — nicely marinated and not over cooked. The shrimp were good too and the veggies were tasty. Sadly, the steak tasted a little old and funky. I had a few bites of the steak and decided to stick with the chicken and shrimp. After making my way through half of the fajitas plate, plus enjoying some of Michael’s delicious carnitas, I decided to tap out and take the rest home. Overall, the meal was good. I would return but perhaps not order steak — maybe they just don’t go through a lot of it and so it wasn’t as fresh as it could be??? The service was fabulous though, big potion sizes, nice plating and a great family vibe going in the restaurant. For a neighborhood mexican restaurant, this place is pretty good.

This place is a solid 3.5 stars, so I round up! To be honest, there is nothing that sets this place apart from other Mexican joints around town. Pretty good food, served quickly for moderate prices. The servers are very nice, the access is easy as is the parking. Just nothing to get me revved up. I’ll be back as the location is easy from the office. But dont expect me to hire them as a catering service.
