Went here for the all you can eat sushi lunch. Service was prompt and courteous. Sushi on the other hand was horrible. The rice was to wet. There was literally a pool of water under my roll. They obviously don’t do sushi much. When I ordered some tia they had to open a new bag and unthaw it in the microwave. For the 17 dollar price tag I would say I got ripped off. After one order I called it quits. I didn’t get sick so that was good.

Ok here it goes. The guy microwaved my shrimp tempura right in front of me for my sushi roll… wtf? Good news is. Its been 3 hours and i have managed to keep it down.

I had a soup and little appetizer dishes that come with each meal. My Food 5 stars. Nice people. Ambiance is bad and only a few customers in there made it a little weird.

Fantastic authentic Korean with all the unbelievable attributes that accompany your meal. The lunch menu is very affordable with a large variety of items on the menu. The Kimchi, pickled cucumbers, fish cakes, sprouts and miso soup are fresh and always full of incredible flavor. All these items come with your meal and are are regularly replenished! My favorite entrée is the Galbi beef. Again amazing! The staff is also wonderful. The gal we enjoy the most has been working at this restaurant for 19 years. The restaurant is clean and has an authentic smell so be prepared as they serve the best kimchi in Reno. I will be back as soon as I travel to Reno… sooner than later!

I was here yesterday… The service was decent. Food was okay. Price is great. Limited menu. The spicy crab isn’t actually spicy, but they do have a couple of rolls with habanero mayo which is an option I dont usually see.

Here I am, the Duchess of Rolls and Spicy, with no Rolls and Spicy review! Well, I didn’t get to be the Duchess by NOT eating here; in fact, we are here so often that we have«a table,» and the wonderful hostess/waitress remembers us AND our order. We only come, though, for the Korean food… we never go anywhere near the sushi bar. So four solid stars for the«Spicy» side of Rolls and Spicy. Our most common order is the Budae Jjigae, which, at $ 23.99, is more than enough food to feed our hungry family of three. It is a big bowl of spicy stew, filled with ramen noodles and dumplings and meat and rice cakes and other assorted goodness. We all share it, and it is wonderful. Sometimes, though, Husband goes for something different – Galbi or a grilled fish – and then Kid and I go for the House Ramen. Either way… it’s all good! Included with the meals are the«sides,» which they are really generous with. If one dish empties(Kid always gobbles up all the fish cakes), they will just keep bringing us more. Overall, we walk away stuffed and happy for under $ 30, which is why we are in here so often. Which is not to say that this is a perfect restaurant. I agree with other reviewers that sometimes the smell of their cleaning supplies is a bit strong, and they usually only have one server working at a time, so if there are more than a few tables, the service can get very slow. The second, closed sushi bar always sitting dark and empty makes it seem like they are always on the verge of closing. We easily forget about all this, though, when our giant pot of delicious food arrives. Good, cheap grub… come here for that.

Korean food in Reno? My family was craving something Korean and I really thought it was going to be a bomb but this place has great Korean food! We ordered yukaejang, dolsot bibimbop, jjamppong, bulgogi and kimbap. It was all good. If anything, the bulgogi was suprisingly weak because typically Korean restaurants just bump up their game in the BBQ department and have mediocre soups but it was the opposite here. The flavors of the bulgogi were fine — the meat just came in chopped up smaller pieces. Even with that misstep, I give it 5 stars because it was a completely pleasant surprise for all of us. The family even wanted to back the next day!

While visiting Reno, my husband and I were craving korean food so I Unilocaled a place to eat. We live in southern oregon and korean food is hard to find, so whenever we travel, we try to get our fill of korean food. There aren’t any specific korean food only restaurants listed but more fusion type sushi/japanese/korean which is usually not a good sign of good authentic korean food. However, we decided to give this place a try. This place was hard to find, our GPS kept taking us to a place called Black and White. So we called the restaurant and they gave us more accurate directions. Parking was plenty. Its way bigger on the inside compared to how it looks outside with plenty of booths and regular tables and a smaller sushi bar on one end. They have an all you can eat sushi option for about $ 20 which we didn’t try since we wanted korean food. I was impressed with the menu which had 2 pages of Korean food and the other 2 pages were sushi. It seems that the restaurant was more korean than japanese, and the owners are Korean, too. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Seolleong tang which is a savory bone broth soup base with beef tendon, tripe and tongue. Wow. Having lived in LA koreatown, I’ve tried the best Seolleong tang in the world, but I can say that this compares to it. My husband had the yukhaejang, which is a spicy noodle soup with shredded beef, and that was delicious too! We were so impressed with this restaurant we ordered a dish to-go so we can have it to eat later! The ojingoh bokkum, pan fried squid in a spicy sauce sauteed with veges, loved it, even having to reheat it the next day! So, 3 for 3, they knocked it out the park. Its a good thing that their food is so good cause they’re the only korean restaurant in Reno. Their prices are good and I that they offer a pretty good lunch menu as well. This is now our goto place whenever we find ourselves in Reno and wanting good korean food.

A friend and I went to this place with a coupon I had for buy one get one half off all you can eat sushi. Seemed like a good deal so we figured we would check it out. We walked in and noticed there was only one sushi chef for the whole place. We were sat at a table and offered drinks. The sushi chef told us he didn’t normally work there, he gets called in when they need him. We also noticed there was only one waitress(probably an owner) working the entire restaurant herself. There was only one other party of people ordering sushi too, probably 6 people in their party. First off, it took the waitress at least 10 minutes to bring us our paper so we could order. Next, we got 2 out of the 5 rolls we ordered about 15 minutes later. Then we got a «special roll» which was very good… but not what we ordered. I think we received a total of 6 rolls the whole time we were there(probably an hour and a half) and 2 of which were«special rolls» that we did not order. I will say the food was good, but we did not get enough of it or even what we ordered. We were tired of sitting there for so long so we left without getting our fill. To finish things off, when we left, the other owner was sitting at the hostess booth looking at Japanese comics online. Way to help out buddy.

I’m giving this a 5 star for the Korean food as this is the one out of two Korean restaurants in Reno/Sparks area. Dined in here for my boss’s birthday and we had a bunch of special dishes and soup. The spicy broth was mixed with a bunch of my favorites, it had ramen, kimchi, tofu, veggies, some seafood, and traditional rice«cake». Service was pretty fast and checked up on us regularly. As for the sushi, there are plenty and definitely plenty of competitors but I have not yet gotten a chance to try it myself. I come here for the Korean food.

This 5 star rating is for the Korean food only. The sushi is ok and sometimes is a nice addition or appetizer to a main dish but we do not go here for sushi. The Bebimbap is amazing and not only tasty but worth the great price! Not many places to get Korean food around here and I can’t get enough of the Kimshee!!!

I’ve never had the sushi here, but the Korean food is great! They have some good, affordable lunch specials. And the kimchi is delicious! Their soups are amazing! There is this seafood egg pancake, also very good!

Love this place. Hostess/waitress is the kindest woman ever. She’s the reason I keep coming back. Don’t get me wrong the portions are spot on, no rice ball with a sliver of fish here. Tbh the sushi menu could use an update, but I like the offerings. Bonus Korean BBQ menu is pretty damn good also.

Yes, entire restaurant smells! But not sewer, it smells like clean bathrooms. I had notice this first time, and I didn’t like it. But I found one of my most favorite Korean dish here. So I had to return for the 2nd time. And before my return, I had a chance to check other reviews saying this place smelled like sewer. But to me, it actually smells like public bathrooms, the clean ones. The ones you see in movie theaters. So it is not that bad if you are not having your meals. But unless you have not-so-good nose, this will bother you. I believe they keep their bathroom clean all the time, so that’s why it smells like disinfectant cleaning products all over??? I probably won’t eat there anymore, but because of my favorite dish Hoi Dup Pup(Raw fish rice bowl with spicy sauce) is only found here in Reno, I may have to order it to go… I agree with some other reviews, they should only focus on Korean food. Considering there are only 2 Korean food outlets(as far as I know), unlike sushi restaurant, there would be not competitor. Go figure!

Used a Groupon for lunch. Lunch service was very good. Sushi chef was slow, but the rolls were worth it. The atmosphere was very tough. Very pungent odor as you entered the restaurant.

A friend from out of town was visiting, so for the occasion we wanted to go out. We had just gotten the Jack Joseph coupon book and there one for 50% off AYCE for Rolls & Spicy. So we thought we would give it a shot. Upon arrival we were greeted by the host and also the sushi chefs behind the bar. The host seated us immediately and went to get a high chair for our toddler. The booth was comfy and had a good view of the sushi bar and gave us enough space that(with two kids) we didn’t feel like we were in anyone’s way. This place is pretty new, as was evidenced by the half-finished mural on the wall and the blank paper we were presented with to write our sushi orders on. Don’t get me wrong, these things in NO way detracted from our experience. Our orders came out in reasonable portions, steadily. Unlike some places that bring you an appetizer immediately and then you wait like ten minutes while they prepare four long rolls and serve them altogether. As soon as we were done with one plate they would replace it with another so we never felt overwhelmed. We really enjoyed the salmon skin roll, and were impressed with their take on our favorites like the Dragon roll. The sake was like $ 3 for a large carafe and had a really, soft, velvety texture but wasn’t too sweet. The staff was great with our kids, providing hot water when I needed to make a bottle, giving our toddler long strips of krab that she gobbled down with lightning speed, green tea ice cream and when she got bored one of the sushi chefs started dancing to entertain her– all free of charge. Overall it was a really wonderful experience, the food was good, the portions very appropriate, just the way we like: light on the rice, medium on the tempura and generous with the unagi.

I went back yesterday, for a late, solo lunch around 2PM. The GF refuses to go since she had such a horrible experience, but I was craving Korean, and she was busy studying, so I took the opportunity to give them a second shot. I walked in, and it looked liked they’d cleaned up a bit — they’re no longer using the little bar for sushi, but have re-opened the area that used to be where they had the conveyor belt boats. Things looked a little brighter as well. There were two other tables in there(a group of two and a group of 3) as well as another half-dozen at the sushi bar, and a group of six came in for sushi while I was dining. Different waitress this time, and she did a much more competent job — banchan came out as expected, as did my water and boricha(barley tea). I had the jjamppong, which is a Korean-Chinese seafood soup with noodles, generally pretty spicy. Broth was excellent, noodles were good, and a fair mix of seafood — two mussels, a few shrimp, some squid, etc. Good noodles as well. Still not knock-your-socks off good, but definitely works for when I’m craving Korean. Overall, a pretty decent experience, and a vast contrast to the last time I was in there — no disjointed service, no overhearing everyone else in the restaurant complaining about service, and food that actually tasted like what I expected.

I’ve eaten here twice and enjoyed my food both times. They are carrying on the Korean dishes of the previous owners and added a few of their own. So far the dish I have liked the best was the hot pot bebimbap, now called dolsot bebimbap. This is an excellent dish that features meat, vegetables and a sunny-side-up egg over rice. You add some hot sauce and stir it up. Their recipe is a little different. They add fresh mushrooms, which is a nice touch. And the beef is chopped up instead of being like bulgogi. What they don’t have is a green vegetable, I don’t remember what it was called, and a root. I really miss the root the most. The beef bulgogi was nice. I’d get it again. it seemed a little watery. I don’t know how to describe it. Not really greasy. Like there’s too much moisture when they cook it. I got five banchan dishes the first time and six the second. Generally pretty good. They have white radish, which is my favorite. The kim chee dishes were nice and spicy. The sushi looks promising. I only got the $ 3 spicy crab, which I’m guessing is really spicy krab, and it was nice. The scallions were a nice touch, especially on a $ 3 roll. Look at my photo. I’ll have to stop by some time for all-you-can eat sushi. They also have ramen on the menu. Given the quality of the other food, I think the ramen could be pretty good. Service was excellent both times I ate there. Update: I went in for the all-you-can eat shrimp. It was hit and miss. I think the Korean food is the strength here. I started with upside down shrimp, tamago(scrambled egg) and unagi(freshwater eel). The upside down shrimp tasted old and I didn’t like it. The tamago was nice. The unagi didn’t taste old, but it also didn’t taste good. I guess I’m neutral on that one. Next was the daikon roll, which was okay. Then came the San Francisco roll. The tempura shrimp tasted odd and had a weird texture and was tough to chew. I didn’t like this. Maybe the worst of all. I finished with a spicy California roll. It was okay but nothing special.
