This used to be one of my favorite places in Reno, but unfortunately it closed a few months ago. Whomever is in charge of such things, please update the Unilocal page to reflect this. Thanks!

This restaurant is permanently closed. Because a review needs to be longer(or it is considered a «tip») I’m making this longer. It was frustrating to look for the restaurant only to find it permanently closed. The«Z» in Placerville, CA is very good.

Southwest chicken is awesome. I’ve been to this place a few times and I’ve never been disappointed. I either get a pie and a beer to enjoy inside or get a pie to go and enjoy it down by the river.

Stopped by this place to pick up some pies to go, while my boyfriend and I were visiting Reno. They had a lot of tempting options, and I wished I could try all of them. I got savory rosemary lamb pie and an apple pie for desert. My order was ready in just a minute. Both pies were hot and delicious. We are definitely coming back to try more flavors next time we are in Reno.

This is hands-down my favorite place to stop for lunch on the Riverwalk. Before I found out about this place, I could only find good savory pies at Celtic festivals; sorry KFC and Marie Callender’s, your chicken pot pies are just so-so. And their pies contain not only chicken, but also steak and even lamb, and there’s a vegetarian pie as well. My favorite pies here are the chicken mushroom and rosemary lamb, but really, every pie I’ve had here has been above average at worst. They’re just the right size too(I have a rather small appetite), though sometimes I wish I had room for a salad or their dessert pie(I have yet to try either). I also like how they do parking validations here; otherwise parking in the garage on First Street can get expensive if you’re there for more than an hour.

Loved this restaurant. My husband had a delicious pot pie but I felt like something lighter so I had the chicken mango salad — yum! The house dressing was marvelous and there were delicious pieces of chicken or mango in every bite! Everything was fresh and high quality. The service was wonderful, and to know that the proceeds go to the Eddy House just make it that much better. We will definitely be going back!

Must go visit. The pies are great no matter which one you have, we tried four different ones. Service was attentive and fun. - Also this is a non-profit that is for a great cause. The photo’s on the wall are of the folks it has helped and when we were there one of the guys was working there as well. All good — go try it out.

I love this place! I’ve tried most of the pot pies, and they are all delicious! My favorite is the southwest chicken — great seasoning, and a a nice mixture of filling. For those with a sweet tooth… the berry pie is AMAZING! I could eat one of those every day! They also have salads, and they just added grilled paninis to the menu! I sampled one at Dine the District and it was delicious! I’ll definitely be back for one of those! The restaurant is small, but cute — with beers on tap and a nice variety of other beverages. It’s in the West Street Market, so there is also the option to sit outside if it’s nice. And here’s the best part: all of the profits are donated to Reno’s Eddy House project — which provides housing and employment to young men who have aged out of the foster system.

I’m not sure what all the hype is about. I love the idea of helping aged out foster care kids. My Chicken Mushroom pie was ok, salad(yes the house salad) came after the pot pie did. My beverage came with the pie, 10 minutes after it was ordered. I literally watched the waiter apologize to every table, there were only 5. I don’t know what happened with the table next to me, but their entire meal for 3 was comp’d. If you want to keep doing good things for the kids you need to do good things for your customers! You’re the perfect candidate for restaurant rescue.

Definitely a GREAT way to fill your stomach. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday a few weeks ago and their southwest chicken pot pie stole my heart right away. It was super soft and hot. The friendly employees were able to serve us our pies just minutes after we had ordered. For dessert, we had an apple pie with a scoop of vanilla bean Ice cream which was equally amazing to my chicken pot pie. You don’t need to be a pot pie fan to enjoy their food. Definitely not even close to tasting like the frozen pot pies you get at the supermarket. If you’re in town, this place should be a mandatory stop !

We were walking by to have dinner next door, but decided to split a pie as an appetizer. We got the steak pie which was delicious! Perhaps could have used a touch more meat, but very tasty. It’s not enormous but a decent size. Will certainly return– and it’s for a good cause too!

Came in here for lunch. Met a very nice and smiley young man. He seated us gave us an appropriate time to decide on our order. He brought the food out quickly and did a good job with the drinks. My wife got the California salad which had Avocado Pumpkin seeds and Asian Miso dressing. She said it was good. I had the Cabernet beef pie. The filling was rather bland and the crust was barely crunchy. It was good. Just good. Nothing about my meal was great or exciting. Don’t take this as a bad review. I can say I have been there. The profits go to something called The Eddy house.

A neat little place, HOWEVER, my pot pie was a little cold inside and our salads came after the pies arrived(had to remind the young man about the salads). I really do like this place, like their«mission», and the location. It is the little things that will make or break a restaurant. Please read this as constructive criticism and continue to strive forward. I will be back(I want the place to succeed!). O.K. I know that we live in America but, LOL, does the beer have to be served SOCOLD? That is fine for light lagers and such but not for a fine crafted beer! Keep striving to be better — I will be back next week!

Due to Allie’s review and the fact that i’ve walked by this place after enjoying some wine at West Street, I tried them today for lunch. To start I really like the fact that they are all about giving back and all profits go to the Eddy House.
2nd — They make an excellent pot pie w/a flaky crust.(I tried the Lamb pot pie and enjoyed the combination of veggies, lamb, potatoes, carrots, and savory sauce.) I also had a side salad with ranch dressing that made the whole offering enough for a good lunch. 3rd — The prices are very reasonable and I thought the service was good. I’ll be back to try some of the breakfast and dessert pot pies.

Chicken pot pie. It’s an All-American comfort food that just screams your name(«Allie! Allie! Allie!») on a cold winter afternoon. We’d just finished up a movie at the Riverside theater and I popped over here to get something warm and filling. For $ 11, I got the chicken and mushroom pot pie which was just the perfect size(not too big, not too small) AND a very generously sized salad that came with Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and sliced apples. The décor was simple but inviting. Loved the music — a little bit of Michael Franti, a little bit of Bob Marley, a little of the Nappy Roots(hey, give me credit that I even KNOW who the Nappy Roots are). The only downside was the service, which is provided by kids who are coming out of the foster care system. After waiting for at least 10 minutes, no one came by to bring water or take an order. Finally got up and went to the cash register. No one there. Peeked my head into the kitchen and finally got someone’s attention. So perhaps a bit more training and a suggestion to be a bit friendlier and warmer to customers might be helpful. Maybe the kid was just shy and new. PROTIP #1: Only saw the sign as I was walking out, but if you like them on Facebook, you get a free beverage. PROTIP #2: Parking on the street is free on Sundays. PROTIP #3: Validated parking in the garage on First St. by Silver Peak. PROTIP #4: They sell their Pies Take and Bake for those nights when you just need a little comfort!

What’s more comforting than a pot pie? A pie with a warm, hearty filling wrapped up inside a flaky, buttery crust, made just for you! At Z-Pie Reno you’ll get just that, but it’ll do more than just fill your belly. Z-Pie Reno serves up Pies with a Purpose, food with heart, all in support of the Eddy House, a local non-profit that helps young adults who’ve aged out of the foster care system make the transition to independence. The restaurant is a work experience program for these young adults, and 100% of their profits go right back to the non-profit. If you’ve eaten there, chances are you’ve met one of the residents and seen the program at work. This is the first job many of these kids have ever had, and only having had this opportunity are they able to learn the skills they need to get the next one and eventually get out on their own. My personal favorite pies are the seasonal Turkey Cranberry and the Berry dessert pie, with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream of course! Aside from the pies, make sure and try the rotating selection of appetizers, the soups that rotate almost daily(I love the Thai Coconut Chicken Curry and the loaded baked potato), and the amazing selection of beers which include some local standouts! This is a meal that will truly warm your heart and soul. If you haven’t eaten here, you need to. If your office does catering, order from them, and make sure to do your social good deed of the day and tell your friends and family that you supported this great cause!

Ok, this is one of my new favorite places! I am so glad this place contributes to the success of the Eddy House. It’s such an awesome concept to help young adults from foster homes transition into adulthood with assistance. Our waitress(super nice and attentive, might I add) told us about the restaurant and the Eddy House and how it’s pretty much a full circle in the way they run both. Who doesn’t love helping a great cause AND having a delicious meal?! The food… oh my goodness! My boyfriend and I went for lunch and I’m still drooling over how good it was and its later in the day. I told him I wanted to try this place after reading great things about it on Unilocal(thanks a bunch!). We ordered a side salad and soup with each of our pot pies. I ordered the Gorgonzola salad and southwest pie, and he ordered the minestrone soup with the steak pie. EVERYTHING was to die for. I couldn’t shut up about how great everything tasted the whole time we ate. He thoroughly enjoyed all of it, too. I was so, so impressed by the crust and the flavors of the pot pies. Needless to say, it was unforgettable. I definitely recalled the berry pie from other reviewers, and although we were stuffed, I talked him into splitting one because I had to try it. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, the berry pie knocked my socks off! It is SO berry-liscious(I just made up that word to describe the taste because other words don’t cut it)!!! So, to the people who are tougher to impress, trust me on this place. I’m not just hyping it up for the hell of it. I cannot wait to return and I even had to tell our waitress that! She was even kind to give us each a 10% off coupon on our next visit! Sorry, I need to cut it here or I’ll make this even longer… Love you, Z PIE!!!

I found this place off of… Unilocal! I checked out the menu and they had a veggie black bean pie, so we hopped over. We were greeted right as we walked in and the customer service was excellent! I asked about the veggie pot pie and they said that they had two and recommended the spicy black bean one to me, i combined it with a side salad that was also recommended to me. My friend ordered some type of chicken pot pie… I was hungry so I wasn’t paying attention. We sat down and they had motown classics on… always a good thing! Our food came out fast and when I took my first bite it was oooh la la, muey bueno! It wasn’t spicy, it was actually kind of sweet but the crust was nice and flaky, the contents were hot and flavorful. The side salad I had with thai dressing and it was excellent as well. If you are in Reno, check this place out! P. S. Also my friend said his chicken pot pie was delicious and that he would recommend this place to anyone as well.

My Texan twin’s favorite restaurant — I am absolutely in love with the concept, especially with winter here. What better than homemade pot pies? Supposedly the dessert pies are amazing, but lately I’ve been on one of my famous stress-related ANTM diets and I just don’t have room to try them. My favorite is the chicken and mushroom, then the veggie. I’d also totally order one that is ALL mushroom, filled to the brim. That isn’t a menu item, that’s just me being crazy. The inside is homely, but it can get really loud if you’re seated next to a table of middle-aged friends who had way too much to drink that night. So, if you have a headache, get the pie to go and eat it at home where you can slip in a few hundred tylenol without getting judgement stares. Also they have beer and wine here. Another delicious alternative to tylenol if going home and turning on the oven seems like too much work.
