This place in my memories back then was really good so I was so excited to come back after awhile. It was sad cuz the food was not that great anymore. Food: We got the juicy steam dumpling(xiao long bao) and It was not juicy at all. The flavor was okay but it was barely any juice inside. The pork and crab dumpling was better. I had a better one before so no impressed. Our jellyfish and cucumber salad was weird. It wasn’t taste right. We expected it had to be something sweet and sour. But it was all salty but nothing else. We also got the«crispy duck» for $ 14~, basically it was just fried duck with no flavor at all. It was«crispy» and that was it. If I compared the price and the food quality, it wasn’t worth it. We finished the dumpling and waited forever for the duck came out. It was kinda annoyed since you already started eating. Service: our server was nice. They had the thing which you can pay right at your table. It was cool. But for me there is no point since the server still need to come back there to get the receipt. It took the same amount of time.

Overpriced and overrated restaurant– This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Right after I sat down and order, within a minute I had to leave in an emergency and noticed the staff. The manager and boss insisted that I pay for the food that I had to cancel due to the pop up emergency. I had to stand there for another ten minutes explaining and insisting that I had to leave and had to cancel the order. The boss eventually got upset and said I’ve wasted their time and money when I have been the one apologizing for this– they want me to wait there so they can make the order forcing me to pay for wha to had to cancel. I left after hearing all the rude language from her(she said something about throwing food on my face) and walked off, regardless of I apologize for this, but she is right– this is not the right restaurant for me. I do not think that I will come back and order the food that is over priced with this kind of service attitude– the manager and the owner. You do not get angry at a customer for having to leave in an emergency and had to cancel the order, and you definitely do not tell a customer to go to a restaurant that will throw their food on my face, after 2 minutes of ordering. Very bad attitude.

Ordered sweet and sour sesame chicken and the chicken was fatty and had lots of gristle. Ordered shrimp fried rice and there is nothing fried about it it’s just regular jasmine rice it was definitely not panfried. Ordered vegetarian eggrolls and I have to say they were thickly breaded(not thin rice paper) and also not very good at all. After all that the waitress was not very nice nor attentive. Anyway that said we will not be back.

Gotta eat the pork and crab soup dumplings and the tendon or beef hand drawn noodles. Way better than monkey King and the best soup dumplings in Dallas county. You can see the chefs through the glass making the hand drawn noodles and making the soup dumplings with care. Love this place!

Absolutely fantastic pastry options at this sprawling, splendid restaurant. I would recommend the gigantic chocolate raspberry mega-cupcake. The owner hails from Brazil, so you can get a divine cup of coffee with any Chine or Brazilian style pastry available in the glass display case. While we only tried the patisserie side of the establishment, the restaurant side looked quite bustling. The main issue I encountered at the pastry counter was with the cashier. He had a terrible handle of our orders, asking over three times for our respective coffee orders. Further, when he came back to serve our drinks, he switched the orders again. While this would be funny in a movie or TV show, we were far from amused. Staff left much to be desired, but the food fare is exquisite. I had a great iced café Au lait with my cake, but I would recommend trying out their extensive coffee menu. Definitely worth a visit!

Wow, This Is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been too. The dumplings here are legit. We had egg rolls as an appetizer. They are big and 1 is enough. They could season them more and they would be excellent. I ordered the juicy pork and crab steamed dumplings and green onion pancake on the side OMGosh. Soooo good. First time having dumplings and it will not be the last. My bf ordered the lamb chop. It was amazing as well. Please try this place you will not be disappointed. The service was very good. The restaurant is clean, nice seating too. It’s a large restaurant but it was full. Make reservations so you don’t wait too long. We went around 8.45 and waited for about 5 minutes.

I’ve been here many times and finally decided to write a review. I love this place. The food is always great. Their soup dumplings are one of the best ones in Dallas. Their fried rice isn’t greasy and always comes out perfectly. I had twice cooked pork for the first time which was also good. Pork had fat, but it was still flavorful. We tried fish head tofu hot pot. It was large and surprisingly very tasty. If you love fish and soup, I would recommend you to get it. We’ve had shrimp dishes before. They were very good but overpriced, so we stopped getting them. The service wasn’t so great but it’s not too bad(a little slow). They have good desserts as well. We tried mango snow ice, and it was great. I will go back again whenever I crave authentic Chinese food!

The closest experience DFW has of a «Dumpling House». Dumplings, dumplings, dumplings. Its a Dumpling-paloza(steamed or seared. I prefer steamed). If these dumplings were drag queens they’d be… The Haus of Dumplings and Other Shade. The salivating starts when the English language competent staff bring the bamboo steamers to the table, open them like robes of a lover to reveal… hot steamed bits of passion for your mouth. The rest is history. CAUTION: You may leave here with a foodie baby. So keep it together and try not to be such a Foodie HO!

So many delicious meals we have had here as a family. I dream about their cumin lamb dish. Great dumplings, variety of small plates, flavorful and thoughtful dishes.

I’ve always loved Jeng Chi, but am reluctant to return these days. I often come here to meet my dad for dinner. The last several experiences, however, have been frustrating. On one occasion, my dad and I waited for an exorbitant length of time(without our waiter ever checking on us) for our food. Another time, our waiter finally brought our food after an insanely long time and completely disappeared. We wanted to order additional items but gave up when our waiter never returned. Chasing down the waiter for our check(or anything, really) has also been a common occurrence for us at Jeng Chi. On my most recent visit, I ordered the mongolian beef as my dish. When it arrived, some pieces of beef were cold… while others were hot. Draw your own conclusions. Fortunately, the manager was very understanding when we brought this to her attention and took the item off our bill. I’m sad to downgrade my review of Jeng Chi, but I like predictability when dining out. Sorry, Jeng Chi.

I love Jeng Chi for two simple reasons. One, I can completely understand what the servers are saying as they speak English, and two, the dumplings are incredible. They also offer delicious specialties that don’t look like your typical, familiar choices. The braised pork belly with boiled eggs is a speciality that you’ll only find in this neck of the woods. The whole fish(silk snapper or white bass) is most definitely not your average take-out dish. When I took a bite into my beef juicy dumpling, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. Just me, my dumpling, and I. It was that good. Also this restaurant is super clean which is rare for an authentic Chinese restaurant. Definitely caters to English speakers which is a plus!

Surprisingly delightful and delish place located in the heart of Richardson. I love this little food district Jeng Chi is located in. I have been here a few times and never noticed Jeng chi until I stumbled across some pictures of the dumplings! Boy am I glad I did because I am totally in love with this place now! After one visit, I’m a fan for life. I’m Chinese and grew up around this type of food at home so it’s hard for me to want to go out and PAY for Chinese/Taiwanese food in general, idk if that gives this review anymore credibility but take it how you may haha! The atmosphere is great and there is an openish kind of kitchen to watch them work and steam the dumplings. About 8 – 9 an order ranching fro $ 7-$ 10. May sound a bit pricey coming down to $ 1 a dumpling but well worth the price for the quality! It is hot hot hot so don’t burn your tongue! :) the soup dumplings are amazing it’s like a burst of soup gushing out of the dumpling with the first bite! I recommend the shrimp and the beef as well as the veggie… you know what you do you… ORDERITALL! Try this place guys I promise you won’t regret it.

Dallas does have a few options for dumplings. I got tired of going to the usual spots. As i walked in, I immediately liked the place. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and busy but not crowded. The husband and I ordered the soup dumplings, onion pancakes, spicy beef tendon noodles, and braised pork with eggs. I don’t recommend the onion pancakes. To me, I thought it was just carbs. Everything else was yummy. I would be coming back.

We placed a to-go order this past Sunday at this place. I was a little excited to try their food since I heard they have great fried rice. Our order consisted of wonton soup, egg-drop soup, mixed fried rice, fried chicken noodles, and egg rolls. Wonton Soup-I thought the soup itself was okay. I would have liked some more seasoning in the soup. The dumplings did not disappoint though, they can be eaten by themselves. Egg Drop Soup-Was really flavorful, since it wasn’t my dish I didn’t get a chance to finish it but I will say it was really good. Fried Rice/Fried Noodles– Verdict AWESOMESAUCE! Usually fried rice and chicken fried noodles have an oily texture to them and leave you feeling really full. Both dishes hit the spot and were not heavy at all. Both of these items were definitely my favorite. Eggrolls– UMMMM… They were pretty dang tasty. Our order was ready when we got there so I didn’t get a change to check out the dining area like I wanted to but from what I seen the décor was very modern and they have display cases for their desserts. At the time we were in, there were a few desserts in the display but overall it was pretty empty. The desserts that were in the display cabinet looked very good though. We spent about $ 40.00 and all we really got was a bunch of appetizers. The soups were about $ 8.00 a piece which is pretty pricey in my opinion. The to-go service was good and I liked that my food was still hot and fresh when I got home.

This place has one of the best dumplings in Dallas. Especially their chicken and zucchini dumplings are the best. I went there with my family and we enjoyed our quiet dinner. We ordered a vegan spinach soup, vegetable and chicken zucchini dumplings for appetizers. Vegan spinach soup and vegetable dumplings were decent too. For the main course, we ordered Steamed White Bass with Ginger & Soy and Chicken with Spicy Salt & Chili Pepper. Bass was very flavorful and tangy. It was very well cooked. The chicken was good too. My only complaint with this place is the service. It was a bit slow compared to other Chinese places.

Go for the soup dumplings and the wontons in spicy sauce. What I liked in descending order: — Small soup dumplings $ 8.75 for 8: tasty, pricey… just over a buck for ea. small dumpling, wish they were bigger, I’d order again. They also sell dumplings in frozen, take-home packages. — Wontons in spicy sauce $ 6: get it, sauce is delicious, not too spicy, would order again. — Green onion pancake $ 3: okay, not as crispy as I thought it would be, more chewy, wouldn’t order again. — Beef tendon noodle soup $ 9: bland, had to doctor up, no edible meat – unless you like gelatinous beef tendon, noodles seemed homemade but that wasn’t enough to redeem this one, I wouldn’t order again. Spacious interior, no wait on a weeknight, bakery/pick-up orders/frozen to-go dishes are all accessed up front right by the door making it easy for one to get in and out. Their desserts were very tempting. Dumplings are the patron favorite. Service was friendly. I’d return to try more steamed dumplings… they have about 8 different fillings to choose from, some have a serving of 6 dumplings, others have a serving of 8 dumplings. I think it’d be easy to spend $ 20pp(steamed dumplings) here if you’re hungry. Give it a whirl.

The husband kept telling me to «find China town in Dallas». Well, with some Unilocal searching, Richardson was the place to go. I showed him a picture of Dumplings and he’s like let’s go now. Off we went! An hour trekk and made it to Richardson and found his China Town. All I can say is Jeng Chi makes me want to move closer to Dallas! It was the best Chinese I’ve had in years. I got the Beef with oyster sauce, husband got Twice cooked pork, kids got fried rice and vegetarian noodles. All were delicious. I ordered the wrong dumplings, instead of the soup dumplings I ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings. Oh well. still good. Will I be back? Hell yeah. tomorrow! We got reservations for Christmas day. :)

I finally visited a place I bookmarked! #sofun I bookmarked Jeng Chi for their xao long bao(juicy & steamed dumplings) and they did not disappoint! Jeng Chi is a lot bigger than I imagined, very clean and friendly. When the Little and I walked in, we headed straight for the bakery! Pastries are very appealing. We ordered WAY too much food. Just four of us and we feasted because our eyes are bigger than our stomaches and reading other reviews made us want to try everything! We planned on ordering 4 orders of the soup dumplings(pork & crab and pork & shrimp) but somehow, the Bestie ordered 2 soup dumplings and 2 boiled dumplings. We were disappointed at first but the boiled dumplings were flavorful and fresh. The soup dumplings totally hit the spot. Last time I had soup dumplings was in NYC like 3 years ago! The wonton was soft with just the right level of chewiness and the stuffing & soup had good flavor. I’d like more juice because I like slurping the soup from the dumpling. I know, so classy. They’re not only delicious but quite fun to eat. I could eat a couple orders on my own if that’s all I had to eat! Reviews said the shrimp rolls were good so we wanted to try it. It was good, like shrimp balls at dim sum but in a flat roll instead of a ball. You have to construct the pork belly in a steamed bun yourself. It could use some hoisin sauce as a condiment. The pork belly was so fatty and I love fatty cuts of meat. I liked that they had pickled mustard greens with it. Haven’t had it like that before. On top of all that, we each ordered an entrée! The Bestie and I each ordered the dark beef noodle soup, hers with tendon, mine with just beef. Tendon is also pretty fatty and very tender. It was delish! The broth was flavorful, probably the best beef noodle I’ve had. I think this dish is like phở for Viets. The noodles are also handmade I believe. They are fresh and chewy. The Little had some stir fried noodles with veggies and a friend had a chicken soup I believe. Overall great place. Would definitely come back! Love the xao long bao! Craving it now…

I really enjoyed coming here. I’ve never been here before so my friend ordered everything for me. He said it was all the popular dishes. We went for : Soup dumplings fried shrimp rolls fried rice and combination lo mein fried salty shrimp potstickers and crack chicken The top three dishes that I would order again in a heartbeat is the fried shrimp rolls, orange beef, and crack chicken. It was all rich and decadent and left me feeling groggy but damn did my tastebuds enjoy it while I was there. They can get pretty packed but the dining area is totally spacious so don’t worry too much about seating.

Food(3⁄5) If you had to ask someone what puts Jeng Chi on the map, people will probably say the xiao long bao(steamed juicy dumplings) and the green onion pancake. Back when I was a kid and my parents still made my decisions for meals(thanks mom and dad!), this was the place to be. From my childhood memories, I recall the dumplings to be extremely juicy and the pancakes came out perfectly crispy and piping hot. I also love how the pancakes are slightly thicker than those of other places, which are typically paper thin. Not much has changed with the green onion pancake, and it’s still just as good as ever. Unfortunately, the steamed juicy dumplings have slid from their historic peak. Nowadays, there’s not much soup in them, and they have significantly decreased in size over the years. :( However, if you’re not in the mood for dumplings or green onion pancake, I also recommend my childhood favorite fried pork chop noodle soup. The broth is extremely light, barely salted. Noodles are chewy and homemade, but the pork chop is awesome. It’s not overly fried, and I love dipping it in my soup. Service(3⁄5) Nothing to write home about here — it’s your standard wait service. Over the years, the waiters used to only speak Chinese with broken English. Now that Jeng Chi has expanded, the waiters probably only speak English, and very few speak Chinese anymore. Atmosphere(3⁄5) Jeng Chi used to have a «mom and pop shop» feel to it. Its old location(just a few doors down from its current location) was small, and its environment had a «no fuss» approach to décor. Now, Jeng Chi has grown to its current size and boasts dark woods in its décor with Asian-inspired decorations on the wall. Tables vary in size to accommodate large and small parties. With that said, I feel like Jeng Chi has lost its original humble roots. Don’t get me wrong — I’m extremely happy that Jeng Chi is able to expand and prosper to cater to a larger audience, but a part of me is still nostalgic for the small, table-to-table, and local feel that Jeng Chi used to have during my childhood. All in all, the steamed juicy dumplings have fallen in quality, but I still keep coming back for the green onion pancake and my childhood favorite fried pork chop noodle soup. Really missing what Jeng Chi represented during my childhood, but I’m happy that they’re able to expand and serve more people. More than likely, my nostalgia will keep me coming back.

I came back here to try the restaurant component this time, and I have to say the food was all delicious and fresh. Be sure to get the soup dumplings. They are good. I prefer the one with pork and crab. The pork one by itself was a little more bland but soy sauce helps. The orange chicken was also good here and seems to be popular. Pork Chinese string beans were delicious and complemented the meal nicely. Fried rice was filling and well-prepared. Not doused in too much soy sauce to make it look deep brown like some places do. This way is the traditional Chinese way, or so I was told. The service was friendly and top notch for this nice family-style restaurant. I would definitely return.

Very good Chinese food. Their juicy dumplings are very flavorful. The only downside here is they aren’t your traditional soup dumplings, but there is some juice inside that makes it close. My next favorite thing is the Dan Dan Noodles, and also the green onion pancake. The pancake is thick and has good green onion flavor to it. The service is also good, and the inside is very clean. This isn’t one of those dirty restaurants. It’s a very Americanized restaurant that has authentic Chinese food(weird right?).
