the food is always good and the owner is hands on to take orders, make food and mingle with the customers. love the pleasant environment.. fabulous food for great prices.

So I went and got a taco today and there was ice in it… I assume they are trying to keep their lettace crisp, but biting into a piece of ice is no good.

Long Story Short: If you have food allergies, this may not be the restaurant for you… I have been to Tumbleweeds twice. The first time I went into the restaurant and asked the ingredients of several menu items because I have severe dairy allergies. When I asked if there was cheese in their crisp burritos and explained that I have a dairy allergy the guy taking my order looked at me like I was from another planet and said«Yes. But the chicken ones don’t have cheese in them, they have cream cheese.» So to avoid making myself extremely ill I ordered a taco salad, and asked for no cheese and no sour cream. There was cheese in it, which I picked out once I got back to the office. Because I didn’t have time to go all the way back and return my food. I thought I’d give them a second chance and I returned yesterday, went through the drive through, Ordered another taco salad, specifically requested«no cheese and no sour cream» and the girl taking my order repeated it back perfectly. I got my food, returned to the office and started eating it, just to find that the middle 25% of the salad was sour cream and cheese. The layer of sour cream and cheese was easily two inches thick and contaminating everything underneath it. So I scoop off the dairy product as best as I can because for nearly $ 10, I am not throwing out a salad. This lack of attention to detail is terrifying. They could be hospitalizing their customers if they don’t train their employees to do their jobs properly. There is no excuse for ignoring a customer’s request to keep an allergen out of their food. Needless to say, I will not be returning because the hives and stomach cramps associated with dairy consumption are simply not worth it. This is a shame because this restaurant does a lot for the community and generally speaking their food isn’t terrible.

I probably should rate it one star — upon walking in it smells like old oil that has been burning forever. Wait staff was friendly — however the food wasn’t good. A lot of deep fried things — the rice was bland — I ordered a chicken enchilada and the inside meat was just shredded dry chicken. My daughter has a bean and cheese burrito — beans were very dry. Skip it

We enjoy supporting a local business especially when the owner & crew are so pleasant! The food is a bit pricier than the boxed chains but that’s to be expected for the little guy to be able to pay comparable wages AND put out great food! You won’t regret visiting them & trying out a yummy crisp burrito or a fabulous taco salad!

I first started eating at tumbleweeds when I was in high school and at their Kennewick location back in the early 2000’s. That location has closed and the only one left is the one in Richland. So I have to admit that there is some nostalgia that is in play with this five star score. However every time I have come to visit to the tri cities I have to get my Mexican food fix here. I have to say the interior of the restaurant could use an update and in general the food is good but not all that spectacular. The thing that keeps me coming back is the hot sauce. I don’t know what magic is in the sauce but it turns their plain burritos into pure heaven. So I would say if you’re looking for great ambiance or a ton of food for the cheap this probably not the place for you but if you’re looking for a quick tasty Mexican treat do yourself a favor and come get any of their freshly made burritos or tacos and be sure to get some extra hot sauce!

Thought I would try them out. Had a chicken burrito and a pop. Soft shell with chicken. Burrito just had really salty chicken and some cheese. Yuck. That and the med pop for almost 9 dollars. Nope won’t be going back, ever.

Came in for my first time last year for lunch and got kicked out for bringing in a coffee drink from the café that’s right next to the restaurant. The woman specifically said, «I’m going to have to ask you to leave, you’re not allowed to bring that in here.» Was about to order lunch but I walked out immediately after the shitty service that was given. I haven’t returned ever since, and never plan on it. If it were possible, id give one star.

They are getting 5 stars because they make THEBESTTATORTOTS in the tricities… seriously. If you are jonesing for tots… go there. You will be so happy you did. I also LOVE the veggie burrito. I confess, I get the same order everytime I go… but why change a good thing? Thank you tumbleweeds for providing me my only tator tots in a year. You have a dear place in my belly. :)

This is a local fast food Mexican restaurant that appears to try hard, at least on social media. I give them credit for that. Follow the local store on Facebook, or read their postings and you’ll see what I mean. I truly wish I could have given them a better review. I probably eat here once every three or four months and it is because I want one thing they make: the crisp chicken burrito. This is a shredded chicken and cheese blend that is wrapped in a tortilla and deep fried. It tastes better than my description, with their provided salsa. These are not cheap by any means, so I know I am spending $ 10 when I get a single meal of two of these. Nothing is inexpensive here that I have purchased. Any time I get anything else from the menu I have been disappointed. I mean tacos, nachos, regular burritos — anything else. Take the time to read the description of anything you get as I once got a burrito with pecans in it from there. So I have learned to just get the crispy chicken burrito. I watch them on Facebook and hope for the occasional discount on those. A discount or the once every few months urge is all that brings me back here. I love my fast Mexican food, but for my money it is usually Taco Bell(two within 2 miles), Carl’s Junior, or the local Chico’s Tacos in Kennewick. We usually go through the drive through, so cleanliness of the inside can’t be reviewed. The service seems OK. I think if we had even a single incident where we were displeased with the service we would not go back. We have other options.

Hola Unilocal, been long time! Nothing like a 1 star experience to bring ya back, right? Anyway. Placed an order to go and it was fairly pricy. Ok, expecting something decent here. The staff was blatantly disinterested and appeared they just wanted us to shut up and leave. Ok, I get it, working sucks, customers are annoying, and its boring when its dead — but at least fake it, ok? I effin *love* comida mexicana, if I eat any more of it Im going to grow a sombrero, but this was just. bad. Both myself and the person I was with deemed the food to be inedible able half way through it. Very salty(coming from a salt fiend), and very bland. Ordered(and threw out) a beef and a chicken burrito. I feel a little bad giving a business such a crummy review, but I can honestly say this is the worst Mexican food I have had in the tri cities. I will never return. If you want fast gringo mexican food, go to Taco Bell or Taco Time. If you want something really good(and cheaper) hit up a taco truck. Ill try to end this on a positive, the tater tots were good and I didn’t get sick.

Not my first pick. I didn’t know what to expect, but was hoping for a more homemade-style Mexican restaurant. Reminded me a lot of taco time. Food just okay. Hot sauce was good!

Eat here regularly and love it. It is just a fast food taco joint, but still always fresh, quick and yummy. Also consistent so you always get what you ask for. What really makes this place is the staff. Very nice people who know and care about their customers. We walk in and they know out order usually!

FIrst of all, I really appreciate local business, as its a great asset to the community. Secondly, to those other commenters that said something about ‘overweight customers’ and ‘screaming kids’. i’m sorry, but that sounds like the general public to me! Not to mention, how judgemental are you? As for the food here – its the bomb. They make everything from fresh ingredients, which is an absolute rarity nowadays. They even have whole wheat tortilla shells if you want a healthier option! The salsa is SO awesome because they make it from fresh whole tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. They are a staple of the tri-cities area, and have recently added televisions and a customer rewards program. I feel like the really care about their impact on the community and about customer loyalty. But the most important part to me is that the food is delicious – and it is. So, five stars.

Like everyone else has said, it’s a tAd better than Taco Bell, if they were priced the same, but sadly they are not. When it costs $ 10 for a beef burrito(flour tortilla, Taco Bell style beef, cheese and rice) a drink and side of Tator tots, that’s just terrible. Staff not very friendly and place just looks a bit dumpy.

Ok y’all, Tumbleweeds is the bomb-diggity-bomb! I have to eat here at least once a week as their ingredients and recipes are fresh and make from scratch. They have this new tomatillo salsa that I could drink like a soda it’s soo good! Anyhow if you haven’t been you must check it out!

Well, it’s fast food. It’s made in front of you. It’s above taco time. I like the fresh salsa. Negatives. staff are young and surly at times. It’s crowded with people many who creep me out. overweight and screaming kids. Oh, yes, it’s budget food. It makes me not want to go in there. It is a small business and they have coupons.

I’d give this place 2.5 stars. Tumbleweeds isn’t a big chain(like its bigger brother Taco Bell), but I believe there are a couple of them in the Tri-Cities. Hadn’t been here for years, but thought I’d give ‘em a try. The first thing I noticed — this place is pricey. They don’t have the selection of TB, and much of what they do have is fairly pricey. As for how it tastes… ehhh. Nothing special. It’s on par with TB, but maybe a tad better, but it is way over-priced for what it is. A taco truck can kick this places butt(and TB’s) any day.
