I’ve eaten in many times since they opened. Tonight I decided to order delivery. Although the delivery time said 20 – 35 minutes, it took almost 2 hours for my food to arrive. I ordered the crispy cigar rolls and tofu pad thai. The meal was inedible. The cigar rolls were soggy and drenched in their own grease when they arrived. The pad thai had no flavor whatsoever. I’m terribly disappointed with both the service and the food. Will not order from here again or visit them in person.

I’ve never dined in at this restaurant before but yesterday, I made a delivery order here for dinner. I ordered pad Thai and tiramisu through Eatstreet. I had an awesome experience with the delivery. The driver was friendly, and gave me two cans of soda for free to go with my food. There was also a small container of soup in the bag. The pad Thai tasted amazing with the right amount of noodles and chicken. The tiramisu was also very tasty. Thank you Fan Noodle Bar for a great first experience! I would highly recommend this place to others and I hope to be able to dine in soon!

So this place is open until 2am mon-sat. We went here around 11−12am on a Wednesday night. We called ahead of time to make sure the kitchen was open but when we got there, the employee’s were very rude and did not greet us, NORDIDTHEYGIVEUSMENUS. So we sat there for about a minute. It was obvious the manager/owner was not in and they wanted to close early. We didn’t want to deal with the rudeness from the server/host so we decided to eat elsewhere. A few minutes after we left and got in our car, they turned off the lights and closed the restaurant. I hope the owner knows what is going on in their restaurant when he’s not there!

My only minor complaint is the many steps needed to get down to this fabulous spot!(seriously, next time I will just eat out on their patio.) Great Monument Ave basement spot, trendy atmosphere, great drink menu, local brews on tap, food delicious & reasonably $$‘d and the fabulous staff makes this a solid choice for RVA Asian fare. Love the ‘pots’ and dishes the food comes out in, food fresh, spicy and filling. Venture on in, you’ll want to climb back down there again and again.

The food here is decent. I’d stay away from the«Thai spaghetti» variations. They’re as bad an idea as they sound. The fried rice is great. The phở variations are great. The staff are hit or miss. They’re either amazing or rude and dismissive. The atmosphere is a tad better after the renovations. A lot of room for improvement here.

This place does not get enough praise. Everything I have had there is so good. Their Sukiyaki is my favorite. Other great food items are: seaweed salad, veggie dumplings, drunken noodle, and Singapore spaghetti. I must say though, the grilled squid was not good. That is my only complaint. Still giving 5 stars because everything else I have had there is too good. They deliver! Sometimes they even give you a piece of cake, for free!

I was really impressed with this place! I got the pannage curry with noodles and a bloody mary. The curry noodles were delicious but a little spicier than I would have liked but then again I’m a wimp with spice. The bloody mary was on the saltier side so I would probably order a fruity drink instead. All of my friends who I was with were very happy with their dishes. The service was also great! At the end of the meal we got shooters on the house and those were a lime(so yummy). I actually liked the shooters more then the bloody mary. They’ll definitely see me back in the future! Would recommend!

I picked this place taking the Unilocal reviews as a reference but I was very disappointed. We ordered veggie dumplings and white pizza during happy hour; they both were very bland tasting. I got a noodle soup with meatballs although the meatballs were processed meet, tasted like sausage in mc Donald’s breakfast sandwich. The broth itself was not tasty, it had a strong sugar taste. To sum it up, everything was edible but not tasty.

Just picked up an order of sexy rolls and red curry. The curry was Luke warm at best with way too many Bamboo shoots, also a funny taste. The noodles were below room temp cold. The sexy rolls were thrown together quickly with pretty brown avocado. I was able to eat the curry after rewarming but discarded the rolls. The order was placed while parked outside of the restaurant. It was ready with-in 10 mins which is quick but that being the case it food should still be warm. I ordered pick up to bring home as a treat of good food with little effort. It was very disappointing

Food is delicious and they are open late. We were starving after 9pm on a weekday and just moved into the neighborhood, and wanted noodles! I got Pad Se Ew and he got… Well now I can’t remember but he loved it. And that Pad Se Ew with chicken is my favorite. Plus happy hour specials and $ 3.50 PBRs.

What an incredible surprise We ordered drinks, and we’re disappointed by the mojitos — they tasted like Robitussin. Please reconsider the Mojito mix you use. All was redeemed when we switched them out for Merlots, the FOODCAME and we experienced how amazing our server would be. OHEM freaking GEE! Great food, late night??? YESPLEASE Thanks to our incredible waiter, Alan!!! You’re great! Keep being as attentive and friendly as you are! You’re the kind of waiter I’d like to have everywhere I go. CHEERS!

First visit to Fan Noodle Bar. Nice looking place and friendly service. Plenty of noodle dishes to choose from. The BBQ steak kabob appetizer was excellent. Very tender with a sweet slaw on the side. I had Khon Kaen noodle soup. Little spicy, but light and the chicken was tender. You can choose between chicken, beef and meatball. If you like Fat Dragon Ramen bowls you will like this place. Had the Thai iced tea. It grew on me as I took it down. Will definitely be going back soon.

After all this time, this place still kicks it. I walk in at the tail end of happy hour and order the squid. Here I’m thinking it’s going to be small, dry, maybe not fresh, and most defintely going to be rubbery. Nay, I tell thee! Nay!!! The squid, first of all, is so huge that I was put to shame for even thinking such blasphemous thoughts. Huge. I didn’t know it was going to be that big and had already ordered an entrée. In addition, the sauce that it came with went very well with the squid. The squid was tender, and though I had to chew, I sjre didn’t have to chew much. After finishing the squid, I honestly didn’t want to eat anymore but did because the entrée smelled so good. The glassy noodles in the entrée were very well cooked. It didn’t break into little pieces nor was it mushy. The spices and the shrimp were perfect, absolutely perfect. I can’t imagine how this dish could be any better. I had their new mixology drink, made by the owner’s wife herself. Rum was my first drink so I am always hit with nostalgia when I have anything with Rum in it. Their patio is open and airy, their bar is ENORMOUS, and the inside is so clean. Best of all, their prices are nominal for the amount of food you get!

Very tasty food and I enjoyed the white table settings! Service could be friendlier, but overall I would definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for Pan Asian. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and enjoyed it at first bite. It was on the sweeter side, with I slight hint of acidity at the end of every few bites. Portions were definitely enough for two or to take home. I had a couple bites of the Pad Se-Ew with beef and that also had great flavor. The noodles in both dishes were cooked very nicely and held the sauces well. Thai tea also on point, but that’s usually not hard to mess up. I have to say there was a bit of an odd odor when we first walked it, that may have been cleaning supplies, but eventually was unnoticeable and didn’t affect my meal. Server did the typical server prompts asking how or meal was and whatnot, but didn’t seem very welcoming or excited to be there. Overall, I would definitely go back!

While on my quest to find a decent Thai restaurant in RVA, I stumbled across Fan Noodle Bar. It appeared to be one of the newer restaurants that I had not had a chance to visit yet and from the prior reviews, I had much anticipation on sampling the food. How did my experience go? To find out, read below. The Good: Online Ordering– I am a true sucker for online ordering. I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread because I hate talking on the phone. Since this place has online ordering, I give it a huge plus. Delivery– The food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and the food was piping hot upon delivery. Taste of Beef Bulgogi– The beef was nicely cooked and came with a sauce that added an interesting flavor to it. The Not So Good: Taste of Chicken Pad Thai– I ordered the chicken pad thai and while the flavors were there, the chicken was somewhat dry and overcooked and the noodles were somewhat dry as there. Still loved the flavors that I got from the food. The Bad: Price/Portion Size– I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai lunch special and it came with soup and soda for $ 9. From a price/portion standpoint, I could have gone to a number of other Asian inspired restaurants and ordered their lunch specials with same amount of food if not more for $ 1-$ 4 less. The Beef Bulgogi appetizer cost $ 7 and I could have gotten a Steak and Cheese sub combo from Sub Central for the same price and three times the amount of food. Overall– I like the online ordering and delivery and the taste of the food is decent, but to me, the price does not justify the small portions. If you are a person with a big appetite, you might have to order 2 – 3 of the same dish to get full. But for the price it would cost to get full you might as well cook the food yourself. THREESTARS.

Really great spot! Great location in the Fan right by some other good local restaurants like Sticky Rice and Pearl. I will say you have to prepare yourself for a pretty potent Asian-food smell when sitting inside the restaurant. My favorite is the outdoor patio for that express reason. Their mojitos are spot on, Thai tacos are amazing, and if you come here definitely try out the Thai coffee! Also, once on Taco Sunday my Thai tacos were really late, so they gave me a free dessert!

I stopped by this place because I was in the area and wanted to try a place I haven’t been to before. My friends and I ordered the Pork Dumplings, Thai Phở, Drunken Noodles, and Sukkhothai Noodle Soup. The broth for both soups were decent but I think there could have been better noodles. The dumplings were okay, but nothing special. I personally ordered the Sukkhothai with roasted pork, fish balls, and a poached egg. I enjoyed my soup, but the noodles were ehh. Overall, the food was average. I enjoyed the atmosphere: very modern and soft neon lighting. I would consider returning to try something else.

The Ar Tee soup is my favorite!(And i makes me think of Leonardo DiCaprio from What’s Eating Gilbert Grape). I tried it at the opening, and twice more over the past three weeks. The food, atmosphere, and service are simply lovely. It’s clean, open, and has a nice new menu with many dishes of their own creation.
