Best BBQ in north side of town. Started with one a few location and have really grown over the years! I use to go to the Coppell Location, but glad they built one closer to my house. Quality is still on par with the original location. If someone thinks this is below average BBQ they probably don’t know BBQ I recommend the Chicken poppers and Sausage. The brisket is amazing and the rips fall off the bone!

TL/DR: Food below average. Staff couldn’t care less. Go to Meat U Anywhere or Rudy’s, and save yourself the trouble. The best compliment I can give it is «it’s better than Spring Creek», but that’s not saying much. I had heard rave reviews about Hard Eight from several people when I was trying to tell them about Meat U Anywhere in Grapevine(coming soon to Trophy Club). We were going to Babe’s, but when we got there they were closed for shift change. I figured we could try this place instead. When you walk in there’s a sign saying you should tell someone if it’s your first time. My general opinion is that restaurants that need a manual to order have done something wrong. We told the pit master that it was our first time, and all he said was«order here then go in there». Once inside we again asked for an explanation and were blown off by the lady we asked. As a result we were pretty confused about the process throughout and felt unwelcome. My husband and I both ordered stuffed baked potatoes. The man at the pit sliced open our baked potato and added the meat, but everything else is inside. At other BBQ restaurants I’ve ordered this dish at they ask what you’d like on the potato, put that on first, and then add the meat. That is a much better system. Generally one butters their potato first which meant I had to remove the meat to get the potato buttered. By the time I was putting on the cheese there was no hope of a gooey cheesy potato because there was no longer enough heat to melt the cheese. The way that other places do it the heat from potato on bottom and meat on top melts the butter and cheese perfectly. Once we assembled everything from the buffet and went to pay we ordered a couple Shiner’s to have with our meal. We were happily charged for the beers, but they were never brought out to us. A few minutes later my husband approached the bar area to inquire. Four employees actively ignored him(there was only one other table in the restaurant). A fifth employee finally helped him. Apparently we were supposed to have picked up our own beers from the bar. Again, some instruction would have been nice. The meat was okay. Nothing great. Brisket was very very fatty, but somehow not that flavorful. It needed bark. The spicy sauce was decent. Maybe even my favorite part. The free beans lack flavor. It’s really no wonder they’re being given away. I’d avoid again. Go to Meat U Anywhere in either Grapevine or Trophy Club or drive to Rudy’s in Ft. Worth or Denton.

Very moist ribs and brisket! I typically like my brisket more of a shredded meat. The brisket here is sliced but it’s sooo moist and has great smokey smell!

This is a chain, and I hope for their sake all of the locations are as fantastic as this one! It ia barbwcue heaven. I’m not the biggest barbecue fan… this was great. You come in and choose your meat by the portion(‘I’ll take a little bit’ or ‘quarter pound’ work equally as well). They cut it off the whole giant slab and put it on paper on a tray. Don’t be dismayed. We were in Dallas on a college softball championship trip. The girls ate there 4 of 5 nights. We only had the pleasure 2 nights. The first night we ordered everything. Then, you go inside and self-serve your sides and drink. Beans are included with the meal. The brisket is tender and flavorful. The turkey is also juicy and tender. Though I don’t eat it, everyone raves about the macaroni and cheese. I enjoyed the roasted corn. With 30 people 2 nights in a row enjoying all of the food, it was great. It’s casual and if you don’t get everything at one time like we did the first night, two of us without alcohol cost $ 20.

I was visiting the area for work and decided to try a local BBQ joint. Upon arrival I was a bit confused, I didn’t understand the ordering process. For those who’ve never been, you get you’re meat/poultry outside then grab your sides inside… sort of buffet style. The register is at the end of the line, you pay, grab your drink then you can sit where you like. Anyway…the food, I glanced over the menu, saw the 16oz. ribeye and that was that. Boy did I make the right choice! I got my ribeye medium rare, to go with a baked potato and side salad. The ribeye could not have been cooked any better, it was perfection(kudos to the dude manning the grill, who was more than helpful educating me on the ordering process). The steak came with sautéed onions and a whole roasted jalapeño. It was seasoned a bit heavy but I like a lot of salt and pepper on my steak anyway. So for me it was perfect. The baked potato was great with butter, bacon and cheese on it, cause you get to pick whatever you want for toppings! The side salad was just that, satisfying with some ranch on it. Oh and of course you get a drink too. All this and I haven’t even gotten to the best part… this entire meal was less than $ 30! This steak was so good I went back the next night and ordered the same exact meal. Except I got cole slaw instead of the side salad. The steak was cooked perfect yet again! If there one thing that can turn you off a steak it when it cooked incorrectly and I can say that these guys know exactly how to cook a steak! Thanks for two fantastic meals! I’ll definitely be returning if work takes me back to the Roanoke area.

Expensive. Brisket– seasoned well, good bite. Turkey — so so, you could see the smoke ring but it wasn’t seasoned enough. Chicken popper– gross. Mac and cheese– not good. Tasted like velveta around overcooked pasta shells Potato salad– not good. The pieces of potato were so small, barely a bite to chew into. Over mayonnaise and too much of either mustard or relish. BBQ sauce — tasty Jalepeno sausage– good. But def from a manufacturer. Not the homemade taste I was hoping for. Overall, we most likely won’t be coming back unless the price drops to reflect the quality and I’m too lazy too cook.

Not bad– not stand out. The pit style bbq they serve here just isnt my fav compared to the true offset smoked meats you traditionally find in Texas. Very very on par with salt lick in round rock tx. The brisket was disappointing. It wasnt bad, or inedible, just lackluster. Lots of pepper in the rub, but no bark. It was very tender and juicy– but more like a perfectly oven cooked piece of meat than«bbq». Same goes for the sausage. The ribs were pretty good. I could critique them down but i wont– they saved the day and was worth every penny. Fall off the bone, but sauce helped them out in flavor where i typically dont like saucy ribs. Brush poppers were fantastic. Nothing else to add or point out. Order more than you think youll eat. Dessert cobblers were pricey but fantastic too. Sweet tea is some of the best ive had.

The ribeye steak!!! Who knew the steak would be so good here! I can def see why. They pour a lot of seasoning on it! Like covered it! And then it is doused in butter. At lease it looks like butter. The guy def knows what he’s doing when grilling the steak. We asked for medium and it came out perfect! No bleeding, just dark-light pink. So no need to steak sauce or any sauce. It was seasoned enough and tasty. It comes with 2 sides. You can def share this steak dish with one more person. They now have grilled trout. That sounds interesting. The sausage and BBQ brisket were good. I don’t remember too much about it. I did add my chopped brisket to my baked potato. Baked potato side. They have all the fixings in the buffet line. So you can get as much butter and cheese as you want. Unlike some places would skimp. Potato salad was… Herby and mustard. I like mustard potato salad. But the herby part threw me off. So no one at my table liked it. Mac and cheese is good. Now I know where to go when I crave steak!

My top 2 Q in DFW. I visit weekly. They offer unlimited beans and there hot sauce on the table changes what you’d expect from sauce. Always order by the pound so you can enjoy all they offer. My favorite is the chicken, crunchy outside with big pepper and smoke. The brisket is moist, noticeable smoke ring, and good bark. Their jalapeño sausage is rich, fatty, consistent texture with good spicy. Pork ribs also are salty outside and delicately rich inside. Other notables: best french fries in the city, turkey and ham nice additions to Q offerings.

As a Kansas City native, I know BBQ and have definite opinions about it. But I know that KC and Texas BBQs are two different animals(so to speak) and I tried not to let my preferences cloud my assessment of Hard Eight. Here, you order your meat at the pit and take it indoors to get your sides and drinks. We had brisket, sausage, mac and cheese, fries and, of course, the beans. Everything was excellent! The sausage had great flavor, brisket was very tender, fries were tasty and served hot, and the mac and cheese disappeared before I had a chance to get a taste. A little on the pricey side, as we spent $ 24 for the two of us with only soft drinks. Hard Eight is worth a shot and we’ll certainly be back our next time in Roanoke.

2nd time at Hard Eight but 1st time at this location. Both are great for food and service. We came on a Friday night and they even had live music. The food did not disappoint! Try the brisket, turkey, ribs, spicy and regular sausage! OK everything is good! Save some room for the banana pudding because it is freaking AMAZING!!! I do have to say this location does not have nearly enough parking and since we come when visiting Ft Worth and it’s about the same distance to both locations we will probably go to the other one.

You wait in line and ordermeat and they slice for you. The brisket was so tender, even though a little too much fat on some slices. The spicy sasuages were very tasty. The pulled pork was fantastic. The shrimp wrapped back was out of this world. The rib were tender and full of flavor. Great side and free beans. Good BBQ sauce. I will defiently go back again.

They have the best BBQ I have ever tasted, everything is good. My absolute favorite would have to be the Ribeye… melts in your mouth orgasmicly good. I get a foodgasm every time I have their steak, absolutely the best thing I have ever tasted.

The cost of the ribeye«deal» just shot up to $ 27.50. This is way overpriced, especially when you have to stand in the sweltering heat in a line that is always too long. Why do you NEVER open up the other side… the other pit, to quicken the line? This will be our last visit. NOTE: never go on Sundays… kids get a chicken leg deal free, so every screaming toddler shows up.

Came here with some folks from out of town and with coworkers. The food took a slide. And not for the better. The shrimp poppers were good, the ribs were good. The brisket was dreadful. And this time the beans weren’t good. I was pretty disappointed with this trip. The brisket we got was brand new one they took it out of the foil and a lot of the juices poured out and as he sliced the brisket for coworker from the lean end it looked amazing. I had mine cut from the moist end and it took looked amazing. Literally by time we got to table and started to eat it, it was some of the most dry flavorless brisket I’ve ever had. Worse than any Dickies. Really disappointed in this trip. I Probably won’t go back unless I’m with another group from work. Wish I’d insisted on taking them to babes across the street instead. Not BBQ but fantastic food

Excellent BBQ at Hard Eight BBQ tonight! Hotel recommended the spot. I am a New Englander, so was in the mood for good Texas BBQ while traveling! I love the style of the place, point to what you want and the pit master puts it on the tray, no plates! Goooood BBQ!
