Really cool little spot. Got the chicken tacos with cilantro, onions and salsa. Simple and delicious. Semi-open patio is great when the North Texas weather cooperates and keeps you dry when it’s a little wet. Great lunch/afternoon spot.

Went by on 1÷31÷13 for a breakfast burrito– sadly the business was closed with a large For Lease sign posted — very sad. Great breakfast burritos and authentic street tacos.

This place is so good. The only downside that they have very limited hours. Even when they would normally be open, they will sometimes close if business is slow, and you will have no idea. this can be very frustrating if you’re in the mood for some of the best tacos around. The staff was very friendly, and their tacos are like real street tacos, extremely tasty. If you are not a fan of TexMex, then you will love this place. We absolutely love their chips and salsa, and their quesadillas are fantastic. If you can find them when they’re open, you will be glad you went.

I had the quesadilla and my co-worker had the tres tacos. The food itself was excellent, spicy and had great flavor. The salsa on the other hand was horrible. It tasted like somebody poured a bottle of beer in it. I like beer but this salsa was bad!

I really like this place, especially the chorizo breakfast tacos, although I believe they only have them on certain days. I need to try the tort’s next time as I do so love a good torta. I will report back then.

I have a love hate relationship with Tortilla Flats. I love their soup. I love their chili verde and the simplicity of their tacos. I love their thin, crispy chips, but hate that they charge for them. most mexican places at least give you a few chips and a small cup of salsa with an order of tacos or a burrito. I think their wraps are bland. Their guac is good — when they make it. You can usually only get it for delivery orders. And their delivery orders are usually incorrect and they almost never include the Chili Verde in delivery orders for some reason. Staff, especially the owner, is very friendly.

My husband got the 3 combo taco they have with brisket, chicken, pork and I just got a couple of the chicken tacos and a cheese quesadilla. I wouldn’t say that the tacos were disgusting, but they didn’t even taste as good as the ones I make at home. It costs me about $ 10 to make 40+ tacos at home and I paid about that much for what I got and it didn’t even taste as good. I felt more ripped off than anything. I’d rather spend the hour making them at home than to pay for a lower quality/quantity meal. Also, their soda machine was making really horrible noises like it was going to burst at any moment the whole 20 minutes that we were there, not sure what that was about. On a more positive note: The staff was friendly and the place was clean.

[UPDATE: much to our disappointment, this place is now closed down] SOGOOD. Hole-in-the-wall feel, right in the middle of Roanoke. Our go-to taco place. I enjoy all 3 kinds(brisket, chicken, pork) and get the combo of all 3, but my wife(from Laredo) gets the pork ones only. She LOVES it, being from so close to Mexico. Service style is order at the counter, then they bring it to your table — we LOVE that. Maybe too casual for some people, but it’s just a cool«little Mexico» vibe. Small indoor seating, but nice patio. Brenda, the owner, is sweet as can be and gives it that small-town-restaurant feel. Also, rare place in town where you can get a good TORTA. DELICIOUS.

Well, we finally caught this place open in the evening. We had seen their sign bragging about their great margaritas. We went in around 7:30 on a beautiful 65 degree evening toward the end of February and were told that they didn’t have margaritas that evening because people don’t tend to order them when it’s cool outside. Seriously??? How does this place stay in business?

My first visit today. Excellent hole in the wall taco joint right across from Babe’s and Mi Famila. I tried Chili Verde(pork), Brisket, and Carnitas tacos and I preferred them in that order. I am a big green chile sauce fan and the Chili Verde taco was very tasty and had a nice spicy kick to it. We also tried the tamales and they were very good, a little more corn wrapper than meat, but still pretty tasty. I bought some extra to take home. The best thing was the slight crunch of the corn tortillas with the first few bites of tacos. I think they leave them on the grill just a little longer and I enjoyed that. Will definitely be back!

Tortilla Flats has a beautful patio surrounded by plants and flowers. However, it was freezing cold today so I went inside. They sell four main items: tacos, tortas, burros and quesadillas. Also they have chicken tortilla soup. I got the three taco special for $ 5. The green chile pork taco was incredible. The brisket taco was quality but the brisket tacos at Baja Grill in Grapevine are still my fave for the brisket variety. The chicken taco was forgettable. The chicken tortilla soup was tasty but more like a spicy chicken and rice soup. It is not a tomato broth and no tortilla chips in it. I liked it anyways but it was different than what I was expecting. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant does not take credit or debit cards. I would go again and load up on green chile pork tacos.

Great breakfast tacos and burros, and wonderful lunch/dinner ones as well. Be prepared to share a table if you don’t want to eat on the covered patio though. Their menus seem to be somewhat disjointed, so be sure and look around and ask before you order… you may miss something great!

I had been going to this place once in a while for their great breakfast tacos. I liked it, and it always started my day with a smile, until today. Instead of breakfast, I came in for lunch. Man have I been missing out!!! Their home made tamales were real deal(and I have been around a lot of real deal tamales), and the tortilla soup was great! Even the chips were awesome. How can chips be awesome you ask? Because they actually have their own little seasoning that they mix in there! I never even thought about doing that, just because I was used to the same old boring norm. Who would have thought… the little things that make simple dishes great! Service is always friendly and the women there always have a smile on their faces. In fact, even on the rainiest or hottest days of this year, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them with a frown. I may not go to this restaurant often, but when I do have a craving for mexican food, if it isn’t from someone’s house, then it will always be Tortilla Flats.

This place is fantastic!!! It’s always one of my top restaurants to recommend to people. Brenda(the owner) does tortilla magic here. If you are in the area, definitely go here(and skip Don Mateo’s across the street). Especially during a beautiful day(huge covered outdoor patio). I’ve never eaten anything bad on the menu here so pick what you like. Personally I enjoy the tacos(two corn tortillas, marinated meat — of your choice, lettuce, some cilantro(I think) and a wedge of lime. Simple and Perfect.

We drove by tortilla flats today and noticed that they were actually open! they seen to have some pretty strange hours but I was glad to get a chance to try it out. I really loved the way their outside porch area is decorated — its a perfect place to eat on a nice day. I decided to try their 3 taco plate. I chose the chili Colorado, brisket, and carnitas tacos. I thought it was pretty neat how they allow you to choose different meats for your tacos. I was also really amazed that they had a pretty extensive line jarritos. I got the grapefruit flavor since I’ve never seen that flavor before. Our tacos arrived fairly quickly and we dug in. They were pretty tiny but had some good flavor. My favorite was the carnitas it had some salsa Verde on top that gave it a nice bit of heat. Chili Colorado was my second favorite but it was a bit too spicy for me. I wasn’t crazy about the brisket tacos though it didn’t seem to have much flavor. I enjoyed my meal and I plan on coming back again — however id recommend this place if you are feelin like a snack or a light meal.

I recieved a tip from Unilocaler Guy D to try this place… so I did. Sunny day, hoppin downtown Roanake… and 2 tables of diners. Uh oh. But I ordered, went out to sit alone and the patio and wonder how to break the bad news to Guy that his rec just didnt measure up. Until I bit into the first taco — wow. D– licious. The best corn tortilla in DFW, with tender meats and authenic spices and sauces. I tried all 5 varieties, and although I prefer my taco sauce free, all were fantastic. Not cheap — my Modelo and 3 tacos were $ 9.50 w tax — but very good. Great patio.

Tried Tortilla Flats for a breakfast on the recommendation from Jim over at Roanoke Tire and Automotive. I had a, egg, bacon and cheese breakfast burrito and it was friggin’ awesome! SO gooey good with cheese melted all throughout the burrito, bacon chopped and sprinkled throughout(I’d prefer the bacon a little more crispy, but still really tasty). The tortilla was SO good — warm, chewy, and just perfectly heated. The salsa had a good consistency for breakfast burritos, and had good flavor as well. My bf asked if they had sweet tea, and bless the girl’s heart, she said«yes». They have unsweet tea with a shaker of sugar, and that just doesn’t cut it for him. I’ll definitely give this place a go again for another meal!

We called this place«The Taco Joint» for quite a long time until we found out the real name. I’ve watched li’l ol’ Tortilla Flats grow over the last couple years. It has been cool to watch — adding a roof over the patio, adding cool stonework out there, etc. The owner(Brenda) has been doing a great job keeping her place just ahead of Roanoke’s apparent re-vamp of the downtown area. And she’s nice to boot. The food is great — especially the tacos. They’re made authentically with two small corn tortillas grilled and filled with solid meats. Very tasty. I especially like the carnitas and the ‘colorado’. The normal basket is 3 tacos and you can mix-and-match taco types. One critique — I’d like to see a handful of their chips and salsa with a full order of tacos. They’re not cheap and they’re small(though they taste great.) The burritos appear a little small, but they’re quite hefty and stick with you well. The wraps were good too — had some of my Mom’s when she came with us. I wouldn’t bother with the queso, but the salsa is good for a side to split. I also finally made it in for breakfast — they used a grilled flour tortilla for the breakfast burrito and it was stuffed with eggs that were cooked properly with some bacon and potato. I’ve already been back once for b’fast — how’s that for a bottom line? *(:
