Sam’s Club

Unfortunately it’s owned by Walmart but the upside is, gas is cheap with membership.

I came in to grab one thing midday on a weekday. There’s never enough cashiers and I’m always waiting for awhile. SAMs Club always has the same items, never anything new. There is always a long line to get gas. There’s always a long line at customer service when I need to pay a bill.

We are a member of Sam’s club not by choice but out of necessity. I have been a member of Costco before I moved to Rochester and had there been a choice of Costco here in Rochester, I would have never thought of becoming a member here. Having said that, it is not all bad, I don’t assume the prices are much different from Costco; the customer service though, definitely is. There are probably 8 to 9 check-​out counters in this location, 6 of which are closed very often. As a result, you just end up standing in a long line of customers with carts filled with their groceries and other stuff.
One thing you would expect from these warehouses is abundant sampling. Don’t take me wrong, I am not trying to be cheap, but that’s how I have come across to know so many products. Well, not much sampling here.
The prices are not much cheaper than Walmart which is right across the stress. In some cases, I believe Walmart could easily beat them.
So I will continue to shop here until the Costco in South St open up and then I will probably move on.

I *like* Sam’s club, but can’t shake the feeling that it’s basically a Walmart on steroids. Personally, I prefer BJ’s and cannot wait till Costco arrives so that I can revive my membership there.

I actually like Sam’s Club, but I do not like this one in Henrietta. The staff is just miserable. I watched 3 ladies behind the customer service counter ignore a little old guy for 5 minutes while he waited for someone to help him renew his membership. The man at the checkout counter last time I was there was sick (coughing on our produce) and sloppy (dropping our produce unceremoniously into our cart and heaping heavy items on top of it). Everyone working there seemed to be trying at making people feel unwelcome. It’s been this way all of the times I’ve gone to this particular store and the selection isn’t even as good as other stores. If you’re a Sam’s Club member, GO TO THE GREECE STORE INSTEAD. The staff there is much, much better – friendly and helpful – he store is much cleaner, and the selection is better.

I love big hunks of cheese!
