I’m giving Breadwinner three stars because of a previous experience and so as not to bring their review down. I feel my visit today was not star worthy. I visited at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. The hours are posted until 6pm. I walked in and to my surprise was not greeted by a person. There was a strong musty smell in the bakery. The radio was blaring and the shelves had about 15 – 18 loaves of bread on them. A lady was busy sweeping the floor with a broom and I said«HI!» In hopes that she would acknowledge me. She didn’t. I heard giggling from the back and looked for a bell to no avail. I tried the busy lady again, this time getting closer. This time I spoke loudly«Hello», to no avail. Three times, four times, moving around– nothing. I even walked out and back in and no one acknowledged me. I left disappointed.

They have awesome scones. I tasted 5 different flavors and I like them all! It’s not super sweet and is very dense, kinda remind me of muffins. Expect good quality ingredients and friendly service from them! The price is reasonable too! They close at 6 pm on weekdays!

CAUTION: I really enjoyed the cinnamon and the veggie bread for about a 6 months now. It’s phenomenal. But I recently was diagnosed with gluten intolerance. This bakery advertises spelt bread as safe for gluten intolerance, and for those of u sensitive, PLEASE research. Spelt is NOT gluten free. It is a form of ancient wheat, and lower than other wheats in gluten. But NOT gluten free. Please talk to your drs and do research before buying. For those without this disease… I truly do love their breads, and wish I could still partake.

I have gone and bought their cinnamon bread numerous times(for the best french toast ever made) as well as many scones and muffins. I like that their isn’t as much sweetness(sugar) in their breads and the people there are always so kind and down to earth. I read another review re: price, and it is a little pricey, but at least its super fresh, local, lacking yucky ingredients, and healthy. Unlike the stuff at the grocery store, this is really good bread.

I finally stopped in here because I was curious and looking for gluten free bread. They make gluten free bread but didn’t have any that day. I grabbed two kinds of granola(different brands) and a bag of their tavern bread. It rang up $ 23! I like supporting my local businesses but not when it’s a rip off. I guess they are having to cover expensive rent or they have flour with gold in it. All products were no better than better bakery sections at the grocery store for a lot less.

I am kicking myself for driving by this tasty business for the past 2 years and never stopping in until now! The BreadWinner is just that… A WINNER! Mark, the owner, who has been baking for the past 25 years, showed me around the bakery describing the different breads and their quality, clean ingredients which I very much appreciated. The cheesy«bubble bread» is one of their best sellers, and my favorite thus far. Along with an array of breads, they also make cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls and much more! Do yourself a favor and stop in to taste this business’ amazing flavors!
